  1. Jesus, they may as well have hired Kay Stephenson. Jauron went 13-3 with a Bears team in 2001. His record the other 4 years he was the head coach? 22-43. Overall he was 35-46. That's just horrid. Last two years as the Lions defensive coordinator/interim head coach. Lions were worse than the Bills over the last two seasons. This is not going to be pretty. I see a couple 2-14 seasons before things even start to look better.
  2. Calgary and Vancouver are the best home teams in the Western Conference. They are just monsters on their home ice. Sabres are still a step behind the elite teams in the NHL. Regier needs to make a trade to improve the team right now. That said, the officiating has been bad against the Sabres for awhile now, culminating in the farce that took place last night. A total home job for Calgary. A complete joke. Why does a league official IN Toronto have to make a decision about a play IN CALGARY? The TWO Referees, TWO Linesmen, the goal judge and the 3 or 4 guys up in the replay booth couldn't see the player clearly kicked the puck in the net? If the Sabres complain (and I have seen it happen this season- a team complains and the refs look at it) the refs should take a look at the replay jusat to be sure. If it was the other way, you can bet a trillion dollars (or $19.56 canadian) that the refs would have looked at the replay and took the goal away from the Sabres. The next 7 games leading into the Olympics will tell alot about the Sabres, in my opinion. AT the Rangers, Leafs and Thrashers and home against Philly, Ottawa, Montreal and the dreaded Florida Panthers. They need to win 4 out 7 and get points in 5 of 7 to keep pace and hold on to the 4th spot at the break. After the olympics, it's 28 games in 49 days and then believe it or not, the playoffs! First playoff game of any kind in Buffalo since May of 2001. JP Dumont should be back Tuesday at the Rangers. GO SABRES!
  3. I'm in the minority then. I do not want anything to do with Sherman or Jauron or Capers. James Lofton would have been a great choice. Bills are stuck with the best (or worst) of a bad lot.
  4. No joke, In this AM's Buffalo News there is an interview with Lou Saban. He lives in Florida. He is still sharp and said that he wants to coach again but he just had a pacemaker installed. He also is happy for Marv Levy. Saban is only 84. He would fit right in.
  5. What do we know about Mularkey? We know that he's a terrible head coach, he's not tough enough to hack it in Buffalo, he's a quitter and now he's about to become a traitor. Miami can have him. The Bills will know in key situations that the trick plays are coming, that the pass is coming on 1st & Goal from the one. The swing pass to the FB on 3rd and 9 and the 3 yard out on 3rd & 12 will be staples of the Miami offense.
  6. EVERYONE reported that it was either Sherman or Jauron BECAUSE those were the only two interviews scheduled to the point of reporting. Real responsible journalism these days. James Lofton, Jim Haslett, Ron Rivera ALL have interviews with the Bills because they were scheduled/announced today. BTW, Mike and the Fatdog suck. Francheesa is still fat. The guy downs 4 or 5 Big Gulps every hour.
  7. If it's Dick Jauron or Mike Sherman, I'll take the $1,000 that I just saved on season tickets and take that to the bank. Honestly, that's like choosing bewtween Kay Stephenson & Hank Bullough.
  8. On the bright side, with the #1 overall pick, the Bills can select Brady Quinn and get rid of JP Losman. They will probably screw that up as well and end up at #2 or #3. I do not see the team getting better. It will get worse before it gets better.
  9. I don't want either one. That is the best the Bills can do? That's sad.
  10. I am reading a book about the former Sabres/NHL Head Lawyer Robert Swados. It's a great book- talks about the formation of Channel 2 in Buffalo, the attempts at getting MLB in Buffalo in the 60's, the Buffalo Braves, but it is mainly about hockey and the formation of the Sabres, the Sabres in the 70's and then their sale to the Rigases and also how the NHL was run in the 70's & 80's. I highly reccomend it to any Buffalo Sports Fan. (It's called Counsel in the Crease by Robert O. Swados) Anyways, I bring this up beacuse Swados talks about Harold Ballard. The guy was a scumbag. Ballard was part owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the late 60's-early 70's and then took over full ownership in the early 1970's and continued through the 1980's (after he got out of prision for Grand Larceny and Embezzlement) Seems old Harold and the other Leafs owner Stafford Smythe used Maple Leafs funds to build themselves big mansions. They used contractors that were renovating MLG and also appropriated building suppplies for these mansions. They also took money from the team for personal use and never told anyone. Ballard did a year in jail and had to pay back all the money he took. On the hockey side, Ballard did everything he could to stop the Sabres from becoming successful and infringing on the Leafs TV market in Southern Ontario. He blocked Sabres-Leafs games from TO being shown on local TV in Buffalo in the 70's and one time he voted to put the Leafs in a division with Montreal, Boston, the Islanders & Rangers while sticking the Sabres in a division with Minnesota, Calgary, Edmonton & Vancouver. Luckily, the NHL reversed the decision. Ballard was a mean, nasty, cheap SOB. Anyways, Ballard was nothing like Ralph Wilson. What a stupid comparison.
  11. "Sherman makes poor mid-game adjustments, is not a good motivator, is a predictable play-caller, and may not be suited for developing young players" That's just what the Bills DO NOT need. They need a real SOB in here, a Military General type to motivate this team. Rip them to shreds and then build them up. A do not-take-crap from anyone especially players type of coach. Shermy ain't the guy.
  12. I just threw up on my computer. I am still on the fence as to whether or not I am renewing my season tickets for a 28th straight season. A big factor is who the head coach and the coordinators are. Campo would be a big NO. I hope Ralph & Marv take the fans into account in their decisions. There are lots and lots of unhappy fans right now. I'd rather have MM back than Dave freakin Campo. Who's next? Ray Handley? Rich Kotite? Lou Saban is only 84. Maybe he can come back. Hank Bullough? How old is Chuck Knox? Is he still alive? Kevin Gilbride available? Some of the names being mentioned are downright scary.
  13. 7 straight seasons of calls going their way- "Just Give it to Him" Game. Unconscious guy recovering a fumble while laying 3/4 out of bounds, "Tuck Rule", and countless others. It's about time it went the other way for once. Maybe if the players wouldn't cry, scream, B word and moan for a penalty on every single play, they would have gotten yet another call. How about those FIVE turnovers? That didn't matter did it? Crybaby sissies. New England/Boston CANNOT LOSE ENOUGH for me. If they lost every game they ever played from now on, it wouldn't satisfy me. Almost dynasty over. Good bye and shut the hell up.
  14. According to the Buffalo News, Mike Sherman will talk to the Bills tommorrow.
  15. The Bills did not fall apart until they got to the Super Bowl. The Colts fall apart once the playoffs start. Big difference.
  16. It came out of RW's own mouth last week that when hiring a coach, money is no object. Could it be Fred Smerlas is planting stories in Boston to drive up Haslett's price? WGRZ 11pm News/SportsExtra last night said Jim Haslett is the heavy favorite. They also named the same guys as Friday as still being candidates as well.
  17. Throw enough crap against the wall and eventually some may stick.
  18. I'd bet a billion dollars that if Mularkey was still the Steelers OC, they would have PASSED on 1st down and it would have been picked and returned 103 yards for a TD and the Steelers would have lost. No kidding.
  19. I predicted Broncos-Seahawks before the playoffs started. I'll stick with it.
  20. Saunders is the favorite for the Oakland job. Buffalo has not even contacted him. Stay tuned. SportsExtra is on WGRZ and Sunday SportsFinal is on WKBW at 11:30pm here. Will have a full update at 12am.
  21. I bet he is wondering why the hell did the Colts not run the ball on 3rd & 2 with two timeouts left. Manning throws the ball away and it was almost picked leaving a 46 yard FG attempt. Why the hell not run a draw to James and then call a timeout? If he doesn't get the first, it's still a 46 yard FG. If he does get the first, they could have run one or even two more plays, called the third TO and got a closer FG attempt. I also bet he's wondering how much time Manning wastes changing or faking changing plays or calling protections every single frickin snap. I also bet he is wondering who will be the kicker for the Colts next season.
  22. So that's now 876 calls for the Patriots and one against over the last 7 years. What the hell is that a-hole complaining about the refs for? What a tool.
  23. My favorite Robitaille quotes were from the 1988 playoffs against Boston. Robitaille was out of his mind that series. Some of the stuff that I remember was when he was talking about Bruins goon Bruce Shoebottom all after one fight. "His face looks like the bottom of a shoe" "He needs to sneak up on a glass of water to take a drink" "His head weighs 100 pounds on it's own" "Did you ever wonder when you see a shoe on the side of the road, how it got there and what happened to the other shoe?" Describing a fight in the stands at the Aud- "The cop just hit him with a blackjack!...now he's chashing him!....He caught him!....Now he's punching his light's out!" Couple of my other favorites from Robitaille- "Dropped him like a sack of wheat" and my all-time favorite..... "He's hotter than dog's breath" Those were the days.
  24. The only points MM made were that he is a thin-skinned quitter who obviously can't be a head coach in the NFL. Good bye and good riddance.
  25. Why do Bills fans give a crap what the national media or other teams fans think? I for one could care less. Buffalo and the Bills have been taking a beating for decades. The Bills HAVE been a joke for the last 5 seasons. The two biggest jokers are now gone. Hell, even the Buffalo media rips on the Bills constantly. Those who can't do become sports writers and sports talk show hosts. Besides, Colin Cowherd is a giant douchebag.
