  1. In Buffalo, Lake Effect Snow is on the menu for tommorrow afternoon. 3 to 5 inches Buffalo and north and 6 to 8 inches plus in the southtowns. That means Homemade Pizza & Wings & plenty of Beer. Lots of Beer. In fact, I should probably go buy everything right now. Did I mention Beer?
  2. It's also on WGR According to what I have heard on the radio, the general consensus among those in Detroit this AM seems to be that Troy Aikman, Reggie White, John Madden & Rayfield Wright are in. The debate is over Art Monk or Michael Irvin and then there would be one spot left which would go to Thurman or they would just induct five this year. Mark Gaughan from the Buffalo News who votes and presented Thurman Thomas to the committee said that Thurman is a guaranteed lock for the HOF but he is not sure if it will be this year or next year. If it's not this year, then the HOF voting is just as much of a sham as the Baseball HOF voting.
  3. Seattle 32 Pittsburgh 23
  4. The corporate types that have money and get to actually go to the Super Bowl do not have kids or just leave them with a nanny. They prefer the Super Bowl to be on a Sunday so they can take a 4 or 5 day weekend and enjoy themselves. The NFL agrees and really could care less about those fans that have kids and watch the game on TV. Those fans can only afford to go to regular season games and therefore do not count (except to the advertisers).
  5. Bentley said he also works out with London Fletcher & Nate Clements at "The Dungeon" in Cleveland. Maybe London can recruit him a bit. A 26 year old All-Pro Center???? No, we don't need one of those. Bentley should be the Bills # 1 priority in UFA., Whatever it takes to get him here- do it.
  6. Last night in Florida, the Leafs had two 5 on 3's in third period. Of course, they scored two PP goals and held on to win and break their 8 game losing streak. The refs gave the Leafs a late PP tonight and didn't call two sure thing penalties against them in the 3rd. Want to know why? The NHL wants the Leafs to be in the playoffs for one simple reason $$$$$$$. HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA TV RATINGS AND LABATTS ADVERTISING DOLLARS. No Leafs in the playoffs and ratings in Canada go down and advertising dollars go down. HNIC and Labatt's have a lot of pull with Gary Buttman. The Leafs have been getting all the calls going there way to keep them close to the 8th spot. Teams have to beat the refs first and then the hapless Leafs. .
  7. If you come down Washington Street, turn left in front of the arena (if you go straight, you will be in the HSBC Arena lobby and if you turn right you will hit the Metro Rail), there is parking on the right and left sides one block down from the arena. Park in the lot on the right ($9) and for a beer, "The Cobblestone" Bar is right there next to the parking lot. (There is a big sign, you can't miss it). From there it's less than a five minute walk to the arena. You could also park pretty much anywhere there is a lot and walk past the old Aud and go to the Pearl Street Grill on the corner of Pearl & Seneca Street. They have lots of local beers and will be very crowded before the game. That's probably a 10 minute walk to the HSBC. (For a map- http://www.pearlstreetgrill.com/) It doesn't take more than a couple minutes to get into the arena, even with a sell out.
  8. 3-13. Home (L) Dolphins - Mularkey is an offensive genius. (L) Jets - Mangini is a defensive genius (L) Patriots - Bellichik is an all-around genius (L) Jaguars - Jags will be a SB contender in 06' (L) Packers - Favre's Farewell Tour. (W) Titans - even though TH runs for 225 and 3 scores. (L) Vikings - Mike Tice is gone and he wasn't a genius (W) Chargers - Upset of the year costs Bills #1 overall pick. Away: (L) Dolphins - Early season heat will melt Bills. (L) Jets - Bills never play well in the swamp. (L) Patriots - Usual Sunday Night game to build up the Pats (L) Bears - Low scoring game- on the Bills side. (L) Colts - Peyton Manning is the all-time best ever regular season QB (W) Lions - "The Toilet Bowl". This one will not be on Thanksgiving (L) Texans - Reggie Bush has 500+ all purpose yards and 6 TD's. (L) Ravens - Brian Billick is still an offensive genius- at least for this game.
  9. Never heard of Johnnie Lynn until right now. I have heard of Johnny Lam Jones. Used to be a WR for the Jets. Not the same guy, I guess. Johnnie Lynn sounds like the name of one of those guys that never won on Saturday Afternoon Maple Leaf Wrestling from back in the 1970's. "In this corner, undefeated over the last 7 years, standing 7 feet 5 inches and weighing 600lbs., Andre The Giant and his opponent, from San Antonio, Texas, with a career record of 0 and 70......Johnnie Lynn!" Whatever. Can we find a lesser known (i.e. CHEAP) DC please?
  10. If you do not own a copy of "Relentless: The Hard Hitting History of Buffalo Bills Football", find one, buy it and then read it. Read the off season moves and the day-to-day stories surrounding the Bills in the 1970's & mid 1980's. Same situation as the past 5 years excpet it was worse, only the owner is the same. Players were always complaining about salaries, moves the team made or didn't make, bad drafts, worse trades and while alot of the players loved the fans & the WNY area, most couldn't wait to get the heck out of here. The Bills from 1975-1979 and 1982-1986 was pretty much like the Bills from 2001-2005. Let's hope history repeats itself.
  11. I've paid $100+ for a ticket to baseball games, a Notre Dame FB Game and for hockey games and I have paid close to that for Bills away games as well. That was not my point. Sure it's only a couple bucks more per game and it's still low compared to other NFL cities but my point was after the crap season they had and the crap decade they have had and an unpopular head coaching choice yesterday, how do they justify slapping the fans with a ticket price increase? Anyone up on the economy in WNY these days? $20-$50 extra per season ticket isn't exactly pocket change for alot of people, especially for a losing team with no bright future on the horizon. I'm not digging for things to complain about. It's a legitimate complaint. The season ticket base is going to fall off by at least a few thousand if not more. It seems as if all of this is being done on purpose to drive fans away for whatever reason. Maybe the Bills are tired of having all of the home games on local TV. I don't have an answer as to the seemingly poor decisons that are continuing to be made at OBD.
  12. "Also as part of the new pricing, select season ticket sections will increase by $1.00 - $4.00 per game. Those sections include lower level sideline seats, upper deck center sections, club/premium sections, tunnel end zone sections and lower level sections in the scoreboard end zone. Fans purchasing individual game tickets will also see an increase in prices ranging from $1 to $5 per ticket. New for 2006, the Upper Deck Corner (rows 21-38) sections will see a price decrease of $2.00 for individual game tickets. Buffalo Bills tickets continue to be the least expensive in the league. At an average ticket price of $44.66 in 2005, Bills tickets represented the lowest average ticket price in the League. By comparison the average ticket price in the NFL in 2005 was $62.29" They lowered the price on some upper deck seats from row 21 up and raised everything else. Rockpile seats went from $25 to $27 for seasons. Say goodbye to all the games being on local TV.
  13. Mario Lemieux retired again today, this time for good. He has a heart problem that will require surgery. He decided to retire after the last game he played in Buffalo back in December. He is also selling the Penguins.
  14. Marv is in the Hall of Fame and he is old. His legacy is intact no matter what happens to him as a GM
  15. What a nice reply from the Bills. It shows they took the time to read your complaint and responded with a nice, personal reply. Just gives you that friendly, home town team, warm & fuzzy feeling. I wonder if you wrote "I am not buying season tickets again and I have had them for 40 years. The other 12 people I go with are also not buying" would you get the same response? What happens when they announce a ticket price increase for 2006? I guess if they answered every email/complaint, they would have to hire additional personnel and there would be lots of arguements over the phone if they actually called people on the phone like they did a couple years ago.
  16. There are a percentage of people (probably not even Bills fans) that post negative, negative, negative no matter what. If Sherman was hired there would be a ton of posts on how that was a horrible decision. If ANYONE was hired, fired, cut, waived, signed or resigned there would be a page of negative posts. You just have to wade through the waist deep BS to get the real feelings of real Bills fans on a given topic. Some people just like to see their post count go up.
  17. Where did the 80% figure come from? Thin Air? Jerry Sullivan? A poll of 10 drunken idiots at a bar? I am not thrilled with the choice of Jauron but it wasn't my decision. Players play. Coaches coach. General Managers general manage. Owners pay the bills (no pun intended) and Fans watch all of the above and second guess everything.
  18. What is your definition of "Instant Gratification" exactly? We haven't watched a Bills playoff game since January 8, 2000 and haven't watched a Bills playoff win since December 30, 1995. The Bills have been over .500 only once (9-7) in the last 6 seasons. I think we have waited long enough.
  19. I was not impressed. Jauron just read from the "Head Coaching 101: What to say when you are Hired" script the NFL hands out. Levy did nothing but make excuses why Jauron stunk in Chicago. I knew there would be a bunch of "I like what he had to say" posts. Just a big, fat blah.
  20. Check back in three years. 2006- 2-14 2007- 5-11 2008- 8-8 15-33. That will give the Bills a nine year record of 54-90. If we are sitting here in January 2009 with that record for the decade (or close to it) with no playoff appearances in 9 seasons and no playoff wins in 13 seasons, then we will be sitting in Los Angeles, San Antonio or Mexico because the Bills will be out of here.
  21. How long do we have to wait before Losman is ready? When his contract is up? He's been here two years already. What's considered a veteran? The average NFL career is less than 5 years. A third year player regardless of his position should be ready to contribute to the success of the team. Mularkey screwed the Bills by yanking Losman after 4 starts and then not playing him at the end of the season. Losman should have started and played all 16 games regardless of the outcome. What's the worse that could have happened? 1-15? The Bills would have had the #1 overall pick, a full year of playing experience for Losman, a new GM and a new head coach. We have two of the four anyways. I hate Mike Mularkey. Sam Adams should be sent packing. Regardless of who starts, a NFL player should go all out, all the time. That's what they get paid millions of dollars for, win or lose. Fat Sam is definitley one of the players Marv was talking about- tremendous talent- ZERO character. The "veterans" on the team never even made the playoffs with the Bills. Maybe the veterans are a huge part of the problem.
  22. Just getting to the playoffs will be a start. Getting to the Super Bowl with a chance to win it will be more than enough for Jauron to immediatley be hung on the wall. I just do not see the bright lights at the end of the tunnel yet, especially with the hiring of Dick Jauron. I think the Bills are stuck in traffic about 2 miles from the tunnel entrance at this point. I think, if anything, season ticket renewals will fall quite a bit. Time will tell.
  23. I think I am under-reacting (if there is such a thing). I am not mad, not angry. Numb is probably what it is. I don't think I care what mistake they made this time. I won't stop following the team, I won't stop watching the games. I will probably stop going to the games though. I can't justify spending my money on 10 football games anymore when I have no hope of the team winning.
  24. "Broken and Dejected Fan Base". That sums it up for me. I watched the Steelers and Seahawks celebrate today and find that so far removed from what the Bills are today that it's unfathomable that we will ever witness the Bills at that point again. Hard to believe that it's been 12-13-14 and 15 years since the Bills were the team going to the Big Dance.
  25. Bills were 2-14 in 1984, 2-14 in 1985 and were 2-7 in 1986 when Levy was brought in. Kay Stephenson/Hank Bullough were a combined 6-35 over two and a half seasons. The general feeling back then was "This guy can't do any worse than the last two bums we had". Sadly, I don't think many people think Jauron will do any better than the last two bums that were had.
