  1. Also, good, old Kevin Gilbride is down on the Giants sideline now. Between RJ & Gilbride hanging around, Eli Manning's career is over.
  2. Brady Quinn. No doubt about it. Bills need a true "franchise" QB and Quinn is it. He wouldn't need much time to become "NFL ready". Look who his coach at ND is and look at the offense they run. I think there is probably more pressure playing QB for ND than playing in the NFL. I think a QB is what the Bills need more than anything.
  3. It's preseason. Wins don't matter in preseason. When Marv was coach, the Bills won maybe 10 preseason games out of 45 or so games. Bills are 50 games under .500 in the preseason in their history. What was the Bills preseason record last year? How about any year in the last 10? I bet you can tell me their regular season record for any given year.
  4. I lived in Cheektowaga for 23 years, just a stones throw away from the Galleria. I do not recall anyone ever complaining about it. I remember going when they opened it. It was a HUGE deal. They really fixed up the area in the years since they built it as well. The Thruway Mall was a dog and it was already going under when they built the Galleria. Although I do miss Chess King. There is a Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Tops Market where the Thruway Mall used to be. Cheektowaga gets things done though. How can a huge expansion with new stores & restaurants be a bad thing? They also opened a new public golf course near the airport that's supposed to be as nice as a private course. It's a shame they had the casino stolen from them by Buffalo (and Buffalo even managed to F that up beyond belief). Progress is a good thing. Oh yeah.......Cheektowaga Central SUCKS!
  5. No question in my mind that Reggie Bush is going to be just amazing in NO. Cutller & Young look good- I think both are better than JP already. If you are a Titans fan, how much Billy Volek can you stand before they name Young the starter?
  6. Thumbs down to Holcomb. His performance made me miss the "Vince Ferragamo Era"
  7. Longtime Bills fan here....that guy gave the Bills too much credit. I don't think they win 3 games, let alone 4. Face it people- Bills are in a MAJOR REBUILDING mode. I don't like them any less, I will watch and listen to every game and the pre & post game and talk shows as well. I just do not have any delusions that they will be a playoff team or even have a winning record. They have a ton of good, young players that need to develop while many more other changes need to be made. I don't mind getting in on the ground floor again. They will be fantastic in 2-3 years. At least there is a clear direction now and no more TD/MM garbage.
  8. I think JP will be OK. Holcomb has no business starting for this team. They have to say JP is the starter and that's that. Why make the same mistake as last year? Worst case- Bills go 2-14 and get Brady Quinn.
  9. Just another example of the Bills organization doing things the wrong way. They have been slipping more and more in the customer service department lately. How hard is it to have people get their tickets before the first game? Apparently, it is quite difficult. No freebies this year either? Just a few years ago, the tickets came in a nice booklet inside an 8X10 folder with a Media Guide, pins, schedules and coupons. Granted, Drew Bledsoe was on the front of the folder but it was still nice. Now, you can't even get your tickets before the first game. I guess it's just another cost-cutting move to keep the team in WNY.
  10. I got a free Rochester D&C at camp last Saturday and was amazed by the difference. Buffalo News is pure crap- just like everything else is these days in Bflo. I suppose Warren Buffet needs to save pennies since he gave away his multi-billion dollar fortune (He owns the Buffalo News).
  11. Reebok is making a mockery of uniforms/jerseys/logos around the sporting world. They should be fired immediatley. Stick a Bullseye around the refs number and then you have something.
  12. Time Warner Cable made a ONE BILLION DOLLAR PROFIT LAST QUARTER. They are fighting with the NFL over paying $100 million extra for the channel to be on basic cable. If that happened, TW would have to raise rates. God forbid that $4 billion per year profit gets cut to $3.9 Billion. Bunch of greedy MFer's.
  13. From the Baltimore Sun- Baltimore Ravens FB Alan Ricard is expected to be released before the team reports to training camp July 28, according to a league source. The source claimed Ricard's DECLINING HEALTH and the team's new direction on offense as the cause. The team waited to cut Ricard because he complained about a "pop" in his calf at the end of one of the team's minicamps. Ricard is expected to take a physical this week and will likely be released once he passes.
  14. Marv needs to start playing hardball. Every day Whittner holds out, increase the years/money for the deal. OK pal- you didn't sign today? SEVEN Years. Don't sign tommorrow? EIGHT years. That will show him who's boss.
  15. WGR had a TW spokesman on this AM and he basically said Time Warner wants the NFL Network on a higher cable tier so for the people that do want it, they would have to pay more money for it (and get a whole bunch of crap channels in the process) while the NFL Network wants it on basic cable so everyone has to pay for it. Mets fan Howard Simon also asked about SportsNet NY and the guy said "we have to see if it fits somewhere". Translation- don't count on it. Billionaires vs Billionaires. My solution was this: I unhooked my two digital cable boxes, took them to the cable office and told them to shove them where the sun doesn't shine and to cancel my $105.00 a month digital cable (soon to go up to $112). I then went and got DirecTV with the Sunday Ticket. It will be installed Thursday. Cost for the first four months: $69.99 a month (Pay for Sunday Ticket and everything else is free for 4 months) . After that it will be $73 per month. $39 a month cheaper and I get NFL Network, Sunday Ticket and SportsNet NY. Adelphia/Time Warner can screw off. My only regret is that I didn't do this three years ago.
  16. Great. More drinking time & easier access to beer. Although, those new public service announcements being filmed at camp will totally work and cut down on the drunks/rowdiness at games. Not hardly. Earlier beer sales + earlier parking lot openings=more drunks & more rowdiness- just what the Bills don't need.
  17. It's going to be a Heat Index of 110 degrees. It was also supposed to be the first practice in full pads. What harm is canceling ONE practice due to extreme heat? It can only help- no need to take a chance on someone getting sick or worse. Maybe they will just make it a no pads practice. Anyone who complains- go outside tommorrow evening in full football equipment and run around for a couple hours. See how you feel for the next week. That kind of heat just drains anyone. I think practices would suffer for the rest of the week as opposed to a day off- stay cool, stay hydrated and get back out there Wednesday. Smart move if you ask me.
  18. TW is worse than Adelphia? Crap. That's hard to believe. People had to protest in droves to get Adelphia to carry the YES Network a few years ago. Adelphia would not carry the new SportsNet NY this year. They threw us a bone with the NFL Network when Empire died. I have had Canadian Channels- CBC & CTV since I have had cable (since the mid 1970's). So, just because Adelphia is finally gone, I lose the NFL Network & CBC? Someone explain to me why I do not have DirecTV yet?
  19. This year will be 30 straight. First one was in 1977 at Niagara University. (I have pictures to prove it). Have not missed one since. 1977 was my first Bills game in person as well. I guess this is my 30th Anniversay Bills Season. Maybe I should get a logo made up or something.
  20. Nothing "funny" about that at all. I was at the game. I still remember how I felt and the feeling in the building that night after it happened. That's something nobody can ever forget. I do remember there were pictures of it in the paper and they showed it on TV. Still, that's not funny.
  21. I never wonder why the divorce rate is over 50% after reading stuff like that. I do wonder why people get married to begin with. Why would anyone put up with a Cee You Next Tuesday like that? Amazing. If prostitution were legal in all 50 states, how many guys would actually get married? I don't get it. Selling is legal. F'in is legal. Why isn't selling F'in legal? People are stoopid.
  22. I'm a diehard Bills fan going on 31 seasons now- no need to go into my Bills pedigree here- and I have zero expectations for this season. In fact, I think the Bills starting QB for 2007 will be playing on Saturdays for Notre Dame this fall. It won't bother me one bit if the Bills go 2-14 this season. I just hope Marv is around long enough to turn the organization around back into what it used to be. That's all I expect and it doesn't have to be this season or even next season. The QB situation this year is irrelevant to me as is the Bills entire 2006 season.
  23. $1.75 mil for Grier is too much? Hardly. Just too much for the Sabres. Did Numminen sign his contract in the hospital? Heart surgery was unrelated to the hip flexor that forced him to miss most of the Carolina series. He is 39 and not healthy. How many are buying tickets because of this signing? All of those that make fun of others with the lame "Doomed" posts, what are the Sabres supposed to do instead of just watching everyone pass them by? Who exactly are they going to surprise next season? How have they gotten better so far this offseason? Losing veterans and not signing anybody to take their place IS a doomed scenario. Where's the depth on defense? How do they replace McKee's 450 blocked shots? Who is going to trade something of value for Biron? Way too many unanswered questions. So far, the Sabres have taken three steps back and everyone else in the conference has taken a couple forward except for Philadelphia & Atlanta. How can anyone be excited about next season? "The year of the legless Buffalo"
  24. If they don't get a TV contract, they may as well move the team. That would be suicidal. If Golisano was smart, he would revive the Empire Sports Network. Teams that own their own TV channel rake in the bucks as they keep all the ad revenue and producing the games themselves also saves money. Look at the Sabres playoff TV ratings and it's obvious there is a big demand for it. They could have a longer pregame, longer postgame, add Sabres Classic Games and whatever else they could think of. It wouldn't lose money, that is for sure. Empire was around for a decade and it made money until the Rigases stole it all. It's truly amazing to me that after all the good the team did and all the fans they brought back, how badly this off-season is going so far. It seems to me that all they wanted to do was increase season ticket sales and count their profits and in turn, once-again, crap all over Sabres fans in the process. Let's tally up the bad since the Game 7 loss to Carolina. Came out with a horrible logo. May not have a TV contract. Couldn't resign Jay McKee. Haven't signed any of their other unrestricted free agents. Haven't signed any of their restricted free agents. Haven't signed anyone else's unrestricted free agents. Have yet to trade Martin Biron while the goalie needs of other teams keeps shrinking. The owner is a multi-billionaire. Instead of taking a bunch of steps back, spend a few million (like the $5 million profit he made) and improve the team. Standing still while everyone else gets better (or at least tries to get better) is just undoing all the good they did. If nothing is done to improve the on-ice product, they could very well miss the playoffs in 2006/07. They aren't going to catch any teams by surprise next season.
  25. It doesn't bother me that McKee wasn't signed considering how much St. Louis ended up giving him and anyone who thought the Sabres were going to trade for Pronger is smoking the proverbial crack pipe. What really bugs me is that the Sabres aren't doing anything to improve the team. As of this afternoon, Buffalo and San Jose are the only two teams who have not made one single move since the draft. What do the Sabres need? A defensemen to replace McKee and also depth at defense. Since Saturday, something like 25 defensemen have signed or been traded. The Sabres are just sitting there watching all the 2nd-3rd tier defensemen signing elsewhere. Here's a perfect example of what I am talking about- Pittsburgh Penguins signed defensemen Mark Eaton to a 2 year contract today. Eaton is 29 years old, 6'2, 212lbs. He spent the last 5 seasons in Nashville. Eaton is a prototypical stay-at-home defensemen. He led the Predators in blocked shots, kills penalties and always played against the other teams top line. 2005/06 salary- $700,000. Even if Pittsburgh doubled his salary, he still would make less than McKee made last season. He would have been a perfect fit for the Sabres. What the hell is Regier doing?
