  1. Plus, there is a coupon in the Buffalo News every morning this week for a free cup of coffee somewhere. Today, it was a freebie at Timmy's courtesy of the Bills and then another freebie at McD's. Free coffee all week! Whoo-Hoo! Plus, the entire section I was sitting in at the Sabres game Saturday night won a free Big Mac from McD's. How do they stay in business giving away all this free stuff?
  2. GB does have momentum and are playing better than the Bills are lately. Any momentum the Bills may get this weekend if they do win will be crushed next Sunday in Indy anyways so what's the point of a win right now?
  3. So, let's say the Bills do win and go to 3-5. Then we get a week of "It's turning around and they can still make the playoffs with a good run." Which, by the way, happens every year at this time. Then what happens? They go to Indy next week and will get stomped by 40 and they will be right back where they are now. More losses=higher draft pick. I'm looking forward to the Sabres-Leafs tonight and the Sabres-Rangers tommorrow afternoon at 5pm more than I am the Bills game. Go Sabres!
  4. Lake Effect Snow is well south of the City of Buffalo. Clear and cold tonight. No driving problems at all from Rochester to Tonawanda.
  5. All new arenas built since the early 90's have standard ice sixe of 200x85. Blue Cross Arena in Rochester was renovated a few years ago and lists the ice as a standard 200x85. Less seats in an arena can give the apperance of a smaller ice surface. Aud was 193x85 Boston Garden was 191x83 Chicago Stadium was only 185x85 Maple Leaf Gardens was 200x85 but had irregularly shaped corners.
  6. Well, the fan support at home is dwindling. Buffalo News this morning reports that more than 7,500 tickets remain for the Jacksonville game on 11/26 and also for the Dolphins game on 12/17. Around 10,000 remain for the Chargers game on 12/3 and well over 10,000 remain for the Titans game on 12/24. Those 4 games will not sellout unless there is a dramatic turnaround. Even for this Sunday, although it's a sellout, tickets are easy to come by and they are dirt cheap. If you want to see Brett Favre play, you should be able to get in for $10 or less. On the other hand, just try getting a Sabres ticket around here- it's nearly impossible- only the last two home games in April have tickets left- less than 1,000 for each game. Sabres will go 41 for 41 with sellouts this season.
  7. The money is coming from NY State, not Erie County. The more they do to upgrade the stadium, the longer the team stays here. It's one thing in a line of election year stunts to get votes. In the last few weeks, two of the toll booths on the Thruway (Ogden St. and Breckenridge) have been closed, the Bills got $20 million for stadium improvements, the Mega-Casino Downtown was back on after the City of Buffalo sold Fulton Street. Every politician in the state is taking credit for everything. On the bad side, Erie County approved the increased sales tax for another two years. Usually, nothing ever gets done around here. You need a Ph D. in Political Science to sort through the layers and levels of government in NY State. In addition to the federal government, you have to deal with the State, County and City or Town Governments plus the city has a control board and the county has a control board. Take for example the City of Buffalo. If you live in Buffalo, this is what you are dealing with just on the local level in terms of government- State Senator State Representative Mayor Common Council Control Board County Executive County Legislators Control Board This place is stuck in the 1950's. It's beyond ridiculous and it's really amazing the Bills got anything.
  8. I don't believe that it went down the way the so-called victim said it did. I think the truth, as always, lies somewhere in the middle. Having been to hundreds of Bills games and a tailgate veteran, I have a pretty good idea as to how it actually went down. I have never seen anyone get jumped or beat down for no reason. I have seen countless fights, all with some sort of provocation and it was always 1-1 or numbers on both sides. All of them were totally stupid and brought on by youth and drunkenness. Not a good combination. The way it probably went down was a drunk a-hole kid said something to the guy wearing the Red Sox Cap & Patriots jacket. Loudmouth Bostonian told the kid to shut the F up. Drunk kids jumped the guy and a fight ensued. Unexcusable behavior on the part of the drunk kids but no way was it unprovoked. That said, two things- ONE: that guy should know better than to say ANYTHING while alone and unarmed while wearing Patriots gear at RWS around a bunch of drunken morons. Would he do that at Yankee Stadium wearing his Red Sox cap? TWO: Keep the pregnant wife away from potential trouble. Go to the game but keep the Patriots stuff in the suitcase and keep quiet. Now, with all of that being said- It looks to me like they are looking for a big payday. No witnesses. No arrests. No security or cops around (BS- cops are all over the place after a game). It doesn't come out until 9 days after the game. He could have been anywhere, got drunk and broke his hands. Probably happened at his local bar a couple days ago. Wouldn't you think that he or his wife would have called 911 asap? Found a cop directing traffic or a security guard or gone to the administration office and reported what happened? Gone to a hospital? Filed a police report? Took pictures right away? They didn't have a cell phone? Not enough common sense to get to a phone right after they got out of there and call 911 and document what happened? Nobody saw anything going down and it wasn't on here in the last 9 days? No, they left town, saw a Jeffrey Freedman commercial and called a Boston newspaper 9 days later. It all smells really bad to me.
  9. The entire ESPN Football production is garbage. It all seems contrived, phony, forced upon us and way overblown. I don't need 10 minutes of crap before the game starts at 8:40. I don't need to see Paris Hilton. I don't need Music Video Openings and 5 minutes of computer graphics blowing stuff up on the screen. I don't need TWO utterly useless sideline reports. Just come on at 8:30. Play the MNF song and start the freakin game. The other thing I really, really hate- The "Monday Night Football Countdown Clock" on the bottom of the screen - 24 HOURS before the games starts! I KNOW when MNF is on. How annoying is that? Not to mention their schedule is utter crap as well. Next week- Seattle vs Oakland. Ohhh. Can't wait. The Countdown clock is on. 145:47:00.
  10. About time. Bledsoe has been washed up since halfway through the 2002 season.
  11. Nate for a booger would have been a good deal. Nate for the Booger would have been better. A 2nd round pick for Booger would not have been a good deal. That 2nd pick will be 33-35th overall
  12. They are just as bad of the rest of the team. There is no energy from anyone out there. They are sleepwalking through games in all three phases + coaching. Just sad.
  13. ...........then they would have lost by 15 instead of 22. Big frickin deal.
  14. 11/5 - Green Bay L 11/12 - @ Indianapolis L 11/19 - @ Houston L 11/26 - Jacksonville L 12/3 - San Diego L 12/10 - @ New York Jets L 12/17 - Miami W 12/24 - Tennessee L 12/31 - @ Baltimore L 3-13. Just not bad enough by one game to get Brady Quinn. The Bills would probably pass on him anyways and will draft a DB in the 1st round again.
  15. "Fabricated Sell-Outs"??? Give me a break. They are not putting cardboard people in the stands. They are not putting tarp over sections of seats like in Jacksonville. Fact is, only a few times in the last few years has somebody bought the last few hundred or 1,000 seats. The corporation that bought them, still paid for them, didn't they? RW bought them and gave them to Military personnel or to kids groups. What is wrong with that? How many places sell almost all of their seats to corporations to begin with? Fact is, over 70,000 people buy tickets to each and every game and once in awhile a corporation or RW buys the remaining seats so the game can be on TV. That's a positive in my book. Who knows why people leave earlY? Mostly to beat the trafffic- probably alot of the Canadian fans leave early so they don't sit on the Peace Bridge for over an hour. Maybe some people have an hour, two hour drives or more on the Thruway. Maybe some people have to go to work. Maybe some people have to pick up their kids from the babysitter. Most people have been there all day to begin with. Not everyone can sit in the parking lot and drink themselves into oblivion after the game every week. To question the Bills fan base is beyond absurd to me. Bills have been in the Top 10 in attendance for 20 years now. Sabres sold out every game from the early 70's to the mid 80's. They always had tons of sellouts at the Aud. They were strong in the HSBC Arena until the Rigas fiasco, the general state of the game and then the lockout. The fans are back and Hockey tickets are not cheap. The economy in WNY sucks big time. Not everyone can afford tickets to every game. The fan support is still here and that can't be questioned.
  16. Updated forecast is calling for showers early, T-Storms late. HIGH WIND WARNING. Winds of 25 to 30 MPH gusting to 40+. Better bring nails to nail down everything at the tailgates. Forget the passing & kicking games tommorrow.
  17. There's been only a few "weather" games in the last few years, most were snow games. I bought a rain poncho at the preseason opener in 2001. I have used it twice in 5 years so far. Law of averages. If Pennington leaves RWS under his own power late Sunday afternoon, I will be surprised. Two or three backup OL for the Jets, Coles may be out, no running game to speak of, wet & windy conditions. Good Luck.
  18. I didn't see any new jerseys for sale at all. Place was packed. People were buying anything & everything with the new logo on it but no jerseys. There was a huge wait to go into the team store when I left. I'd guess there were about 10,000 people there. Everyone stood up and cheered very loudlywhen the Sabres came out. Players gathered at Center Ice and raised their sticks in a salute to the fans. The white jerseys are the worse of the two. I really like the blue jerseys- logo and all. I didn't hear one person boo the new unis and there were no chants to get rid of the "slug" and the merchandise was selling like crazy.
  19. I thought Vincent and Wire should have been cut in the last roster reduction. One down, one to go. Figure Bowen is healthy enough to play or will the Bills scan the waiver wires for another Safety? Will they bring Mark Kelso out of the booth? I am not at all disappointed by this development.
  20. Huh? Whitner should be the starter and play the entire game. Coy Wire couldn't tackle my gradmother. How he is even in the NFL, let alone starting is beyond me. Whitner had a pick that would have went for a score if it wasn't for Playmaker and is better against the run than Wire. Whitner is the most talented player at Safety the Bills have. He should be in there.
  21. Mike & Mike only love each other and not in a good way.
  22. I thought you meant the Bills fine him for not knowing it was 4th& 1. I don't think they can fine players for being stupid- WM would be broke.
  23. I know the Bills aren't that good. I know Miami is at home- it will be very hot. The Bills broke down at Miami in the heat last year. I know Miami will have had 11 days to prepare. I know the Bills will be big underdogs. I know Mike Mularkey will be looking to stick it to us. A win would have done wonders for the Bills confidence. I know today was the more winnable of the two. I am not happy right now.
  24. I HATE that call. Kick the FG- even more than the three points it keeps the momentum on the Bills side. That freaking play cost the Bills the game. Never, ever, ever give up points on the road, especially with a lead. I hated the call when he made it and I hate it even more now after Jauron said they made up their mind to go for it way before the play even came up. Look at the F'in game situation and then make the call. They AREN'T good enough yet so that makes it even more disgusting that they took a chance like that. The refs sucked big time- just like they always do when the Bills play NE. The refs have to be scared of NE for some reason. NE held all day long and never got called once. The block in the back calls were marginal at best, especially on the Whittner INT. Blowing the whistle on an INT return that would have been a TD while at the same time calling a bad penalty is inexcusable. It's a GDMF rerun every MF'in time we play the CSMF Patiots. I am sick and tired of it. Also, Vincent needs to hang it up. He is injured way too much. Coy Wire is a giant POS. The Pats torched our defense for over 160 rushing yards. No depth on D will hurt. WM was invisble in the 2nd half. No deep threat today and I have no idea why they didn't even try a deep pass. They should have been 1-0 now they are staring 0-2 right in the face once again. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Anyone who says "It was close so that's something" or "There were positives". Stick it. They lost. They should have won. It sucks. End of story.
