They could play a 3-4, 4-3 or a 2-9 or a 0-11 for all I care, Whatever it is, they can't give up 5,800 yards and 430 points a season. Whatever scheme Pettine implements is what they will go with so we will see. Has to be better than Wanny's "Invisible D" scheme. Jets did have a very good D for the last three years,

Bills hire Nathaniel Hackett for Offensive Coordinator
kasper13 replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If nothing else, the Bills AARP discount has been cancelled. Everyone can be upset or have a preference as to whom the Bills hire. They don't care. They have a plan and are going with it. Obvious they went much, much younger so far and went with no previous NFL experience in the positions for which the HC and OC were hired. I know this, it really can't be any worse than it has been and it just may work. If Hackett is an up and coming star, why retard his development as an OC by having him "learn" from some has been or never was guy just because he was in the NFL before? I'm totally on board with it, better than some old retreads that would just do the same old thing and just collect paychecks for a few years. -
Fitz will not be the starter or the backup for the Bills in 2013. No way new coach, new OC are going with Fitz. 19-31 as starter, most of the wins against losing teams, has gotten worse each season, getting older, not going to pay him $7.25 mil to be a backup. Save $450,000 on the cap if they cut him. He is not the answer. Time to move on. Start new. End of story.

Bills hire Nathaniel Hackett for Offensive Coordinator

Hmmmmmm.....this won't work because the experienced, veteran, genius guys we had were so successful? -
Alabama has a monster giant sized OL. Didn't realize just how big. They average 6' 4 and 315. Couple of the big guys are 6' 5", 6' 6" and go 340-350. What the hell do they eat down there? Bigger than NFL lines. Notre Dame is just totally over matched. The RB Lacy is bigger than Te'o. CB's can't cover the WR's either, This is going to get very, very ugly. Disappointed. Bills better stay away from Te'o. Get a bigger, faster SEC LB.
-
Brian Kelly, Notre Dame, 50, Ind. $2,600,000. Either going to get a raise and stay at ND or have that doubled at least and go to the NFL. Intriguing means "show me the money." That said, if I'm Russ Brandon, I'm on the phone with his agent setting up a meeting for Tuesday and I'd be bringing along $6 million pictures of George Washington.

Chip Kelly HC! (possibly for the Browns)
kasper13 replied to 13player's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Guy is a football coach. Who cares about a theater and arts center? Buffalo has that too incidentally, but really, who cares? Don't football coaches work 18 hours a day? If you are not from Cleveland or Buffalo, why do you go there to coach their football team? 1. Money. 2, Money. 3. Money. 4. It's the NFL. 5. Money. 6. Power. 7. Money. 8. Money. 9. Money. 10. Money. BTW, Buffalo has better wings, better pizza and downtown Cleveland is just as much of a ghost town at night as Buffalo is. That stuff is totally irrelevant imo when a coach decides to go to a team. -
Another "great interview" guy. Been there before, haven't we?

Almost guarantee? Geez. I can 100% guarantee that I have never heard of Mike Freeman until 2 seconds ago. That's what these guys do nowadays to try and make a name for themselves. Almost. 95% done. Sources say with near certainty. Whatever. They always leave an out. If they hit on a guess or two then people start following them. The Bills do not need Alex Smith. They do not need a "caretaker". They do not need a "stopgap". They need to draft a QB early and start him immediately. Half the playoff teams have rookie, 1st or 2nd year QB's starting.

Russ Brandon named President/CEO
kasper13 replied to Wagon Circler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ton of holes on defense in general, not just the secondary, I don't believe McKelvin or McGee will be back. They have to resign Byrd or else safety is a big problem. Barnett, Wilson, Scott, Kelsay, Merriman should all be gone. They need 2 starting LB's, at least one safety, maybe 2, then they need backups at CB, LB, S. Defense was one of the worst of all time. It's not just scheme, it's personnel as well. Anyone can throw $150 million at two DE's and claim they improved and just hope it works out. That's insanity and it didn't work. It screws your salary cap and you are stuck. What a smart GM would do, is find players that produce at a reasonable salary. Value for production. I don't see that in many places on the entire roster. -
Chip Kelly said what he runs in college would not work in the NFL. He is smart, he is an innovative offense minded coach. Very successful in college. He is young. He uses the very thing mentioned by Russ Brandon today- analytics. I really, really don't want some NFL retread. The NFL recycles coaches like crazy. They were all fired for a reason or reasons. Just unoriginal. The majority fail more than once yet they keep getting jobs. I want someone exactly like Chip Kelly. New, fresh ideas, fresh start, build something new, innovative and exciting. Take a chance instead of playing it safe and just setting yourself up to fail again.

Chip Kelly HC! (possibly for the Browns)
kasper13 replied to 13player's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly.Would totally love this move. Best thing they could possibly do. Are they smart enough though? Is this the forward thinking, world class move they talked about? I sure hope so. Would be a huge step forward instead of hiring some retread just fired NFL coach. -
YES! Russ Grimm is the guy for the job.....said no one ever.

Buffalo Bills fire Head Coach Chan Gailey
kasper13 replied to scribo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chan gone. Check. Entire Coaching staff gone. Check. GM???? I wouldn't let Buddy anywhere near hiring a new coach, building a new staff or drafting a new QB, I don't believe that he makes it through the day, he is either going to retire or be fired, I thought he said that if Chan goes, he goes too? Things move very fast in the NFL these days. Bills moving much faster than usual. -
Peter king says Chan gone on Monday...
kasper13 replied to OhIDunno's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really don't care how good of a person Chan is, he could be the nicest guy in the world, he is 16-32 as head coach of the Bills. It's not a nice guy contest. I'd fire my own father if he were 16-32. -
Huge Ralph Wilson Statement linked posted on TWS by bbb
kasper13 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kelly or Thomas never said they would have any say in anything. Kelly never said anything other than the Bills are not leaving and he has investors lined up. If they do get 1% or 5% of the team, they are part owners and that is it. Just having their names on it helps. I would think they would just get to go to the games for free and sit in a suite and give interviews and sign autographs.....kind of like they do now AND collect profits on their investment. Bills haven't lost money since 1963. They make money every single year. Sweet deal if you can get in. -
Huge Ralph Wilson Statement linked posted on TWS by bbb
kasper13 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jim Kelly never said he was going to own 50 or 100% of the team. If all or any of this is true and I believe that it is based on all the clues and info that has come out over the last few months, Kelly will own a small percentage of the team. I have said it elsewhere on here, an NFL franchise can have up to 24 owners or investors as long as there is a main owner that has 30%. If Ralph keeps a percentage and sells the rest, it is very conceivable that Kelly & Thomas buy a small percentage. Example: Team sells for $700 million. There is one big main money guy taking 50% for $350 mil. Ralph keeps 30% for himself and his family, that is worth $210 million. That leaves 20% available at a cost of $140 mil with up to 22 available investors to buy/invest in a percentage of the team and they would very much be an owner of the team. If 22 other people said give me 1% of the Bills, it would cost $6.3 mil for each 1%. Are there 22 people in WNY that have $6.3 million for a percent ownership in the Bills? Of course there is. I could name them off the top of my head. People are fixated on the statement "Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas are going to own the Bills" and the follow up "How could they? They don't have the money". They both have the money for a percent or two. -

Peter king says Chan gone on Monday...
kasper13 replied to OhIDunno's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Arrrgh. Why wait until Monday? Ralph must be sleeping already. Just do it now and get it over with. How hard is it to pick up a phone and tell Brandon to tell Chan, Buddy and whomever else to hit the bricks? It takes a minute tops. I'll do it. What's the number? -
Will the board implode if both Nix and Gailey are retained?
kasper13 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think if that happened, people would just start to stay away in droves. Ticket sales would drop way off, fan support would be at a new low. Think 76-77, 84-85. Those would seem like the good old days. This place would get even...... stranger. There is no incentive at all to keep spending money on this team now that the lease has been signed, they aren't leaving for at least 7 years and probably not at all. They want a new stadium. The only reason to buy tickets now is to watch a good team. 4-12. 6-10. 6-10. That's not good. Chan is not the man. He isn't getting better at anything. Same with Buddy. Same with Fitzpatrick. Time for them all to go away. Blows my mind it's even a question. -
Roster better now than it was 3 yrs ago?
kasper13 replied to Maddog69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if the talent is marginally better now than in 2009...........it's still not good enough to have a winning record or make the playoffs. Would Dead Jauron have won with this team? Probably not. W/L record is pretty much an indication of your talent compared to the rest of the league in a given year. 2009 or whatever year has nothing to do with this year and this year has nothing to do with next year. Such an irrelevant arguement as to whether or not this team is more talented than the team three years ago. They both had losing records, they both missed the playoffs and they were both miles away from the top of the NFL. -
Sports Illustrated coaching change article
kasper13 replied to Superman12975's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it's a rumor. More like written in stone fact. I'd do it right after the game Sunday. I think just about everyone is going to get fired, The only guys I see left on Monday are Brandon & Whaley, No reason to be scared. New guys can't be any worse than the last 12 years of complete, total and utter garbage. They have to get good now to sell tickets. I wouldn't let Buddy pick the next coach and QB either. Get out of town and good riddance! -
