  1. Allen had a rough day, but I wish he had been available in the fourth quarter. I would have loved to have seen if he could make something (good) happen there.
  2. Rams and Chargers.
  3. But of course Gronk wasn't actually ejected or even penalized on this play, so . . . .
  4. About a 2, maybe a 3. The Bills are capable of winning this game if they bring their A-game for all four quarters. That's a lot to ask for such a young team, though, and I think New England's talent advantage gives them the win.
  5. In chronological order: 1990 1991 1992 1993 2017 Maybe it's just me being nostalgic, but the SB teams had real personality to them. Not always in the most positive way of course ("bickering Bills"), but people like Kelly, Thurman, Talley, Bruce, Marv, etc. were larger-than-life characters at times. That made those teams lots of fun to follow and cheer for. So many teams during the drought seemed like cardboard cutouts by way of comparison.
  6. 7-point dogs win about 25% of the time. Honestly, I'm not sure that the Bills actually win this game one time out of four, but it's not that far off. The line seems about right to me. The Bills are way, way better than last year's team. We seem to be pretty clearly on the right trajectory with an improving QB we can build around, solid performers at each position, and lots of youth. There are all sorts of reason to be optimistic about the 2019 season and the years beyond. That doesn't imply that we are in the same tier as New England (or Kansas City for that matter).
  7. Maternity wards in western New York will be really busy in late June.
  8. What specifically do you think would have happened differently? I can't really come up with anything that would NOT have the score 20-17 for Cincinnati's final drive. (Obviously that drive might go way differently if the offense had the option of attempting a game-tying FG instead of needing the TD).
  9. The defense only allowed 8 points to the Jets. And you can't really compare Week 1 NYJ to Weeks 2 and 3 NYJ.
  10. The write-up on McDermott seems about right IMO. He came into the season with a pretty secure grip on his job and a team trending in the right direction. 2019 is not playoffs-or-bust; the team just needs to show further improvement and Allen needs to develop. That all seems to be happening over the first three games. I mean, if the Bills had started 0-3 and Allen looked to be regressing, McDermott's seat would at least be getting a little warm, right? (Counter-factual, obviously).
  11. They either will, or they won't, so it's 50-50.
  12. I've been thinking the exact same thing for the past couple of weeks. Tennessee is a team that we should probably beat, but it's going to be a tough road test. In some ways, it's a bigger game than this week's.
  13. Yes. I told my son that it was four down territory once we got to the goal line. Fortunately it didn't come down to that.
  14. I actually kind of halfway-expect Miami to follow this strategy when they play the Jets. Too much on the line to risk taking the field.
  15. The problem with that statistic is that it ignores the fact that we play in the same division as New England. Of those 73.8% of 3-0 teams, a bunch of them go on to win their division -- that avenue is essentially closed to us. Our only realistic route to the playoffs is to sneak in as one of the two wild cards, which leaves very little margin for error. So while a generic 3-0 team might make the playoffs 73.8% of the time, our chances of making the playoffs are significantly lower than that until we're able to compete for a division title. And unfortunately, that's a year away IMO.
  16. Remove the interception, and it's an A. But the interception changed the entire complexion of the game and got Cincinnati back into it. So yeah, C seems about right.
  17. I don't understand why it's bad to be happy that we're undefeated after three games?
  18. I agree. I don't think the Bills are in the same tier as New England. Yet. Just saying that "Well, look at who they've played" works both ways.
  19. What is the combined record of the teams NE has beaten?
  20. Nah, really just one stupid play. Allen played well aside from the interception. Even the intentional grounding call was driven by good decision-making and would go uncalled nine times out of ten.
  21. I may have to watch the new Primetime just to hear Berman call this play.
  22. Yeah he only missed a couple of plays I think.
  23. Yep. Calling that a safety or whatever would have been the stupidest call of all time. White clearly perceived the play to be over.
  24. That really sucks. He is rapidly becoming one of my favorite players on this team. That said, I don't think we necessarily lose much on net by shifting Ford to G and playing Nseke full-time at T.
  25. The interception was terrible and inexcusable. I love Allen and I'm kind of a homer for the guy, but that was a bone-headed play that single-handedly changed the entire course of the game. My guess is that Allen has the Brett Favre gene that will never be coached out of him and we'll all just have to get used to a play like this once in a while, but that doesn't minimize how bad it was. And honestly, he looked kind of rattled on the next couple of drives after that. I can live with the occasional stupid play, but guys like Favre and Kelly seemed to forget about them after 30 seconds or so. Allen could do better in this area. That said, he looked very sharp in the first half and was clutch on the last drive. No worries on my end.
