Have You Ever Attended A Bills Home Game
BillsFanSD replied to LB3's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm a lifelong Midwesterner. I used to get to see the Bills every year back when Indianapolis was in the AFC East. Since then I've gone to Bills games in KC, Chicago, and Minneapolis (I was there for "the hurdle"), but I've only ever been to one Bills home game -- Week 1 2015 vs. the Colts. This was Rex Ryan's first game with the Bills and also Tyrod Taylor's first game. The crowd was jacked up, the Bills won easily, and my son and I had a great time. -
Chiefs fans boo Texans/Chiefs locking of arms display
BillsFanSD replied to Penfield45's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is my take. I don't like that we now apparently have two racially segregated national anthems, and I definitely don't need an extra "show of unity" added to all the other pregame BS, but it seems like the adult thing to do is just quietly roll your eyes and move on. -
Looking back at the 2017 draft
BillsFanSD replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was a really good draft. I would love to have the Zay Jones pick back, but otherwise it's a solid A. I find the constant second-guessing of Mahomes non-pick tiresome. We were never drafting a QB that year, and there's no reason to think that Buffalo Mahomes would have developed into the same player as Kansas City Mahomes. He seems like a good guy and I like watching him play. I never think about him as a potential Bill except when people bring it up here. (Compare and contrast to Haloti Ngata who I'm still pissed about passing on even though he retired years ago). -

Jerry Hughes might become the first player in NFL history to pick up a 15 yard personal foul during the pre-game coin flip. -
Jalen Ramsey extension with Rams - 5 years/105 mill

Take the money we saved on Tre and use it to extend Beane. -
Wow this is horrible. I was just thinking this morning that one of the great things about no preseason is that we* didn't have any stupid preseason injuries. Now this. * We = not the Bills necessarily, but NFL fans more generally.

I'll be very disappointed if we win the super bowl by only a single point. Two-score margin of victory or it doesn't count. (Also, our super bowl won't count if Allen doesn't throw for at least 300 yards but that goes without saying).

Predict the score Week 1 Jets at Bills
BillsFanSD replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills 27 Jets 14 Jets score a TD early to make the first half kind of nervous, and then score again in garbage time after we've all already started our celebration drinking. -

I would take that and consider it a successful season. -
Predict the division winner: NFC East
BillsFanSD replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dallas is the best team on paper, but they underperform pretty consistently. I knew its a new staff, but still. Eagles. -
Predict the division winner: NFC West

This is a tough division -- it sucks that the AFC E drew these teams this year. Oh yeah :flipscoin: Seahawks. -
Predict the Division Winner: AFC North
BillsFanSD replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a tough one. I went with Baltimore, but Pittsburgh is solid too, and I could even see Cleveland putting a run together if things break right for them. -
Predict the division winner: NFC South

I went with the Saints. I don't have much confidence in Brady away from Belichick. -
Predict the Division Winner: AFC West

Chiefs. Probably the easiest division to predict in the NFL. -
I'm glad we open against the Jets and Dolphis -- two inferior teams that we should beat even as we're working out the kinks from no preseason. We should get a pretty good sense on whether the offense has significantly improved relative to last year fairly quickly.

I feel bad for Hauschka because he was never really the same after getting cheap-shotted, but it was time to move on.

Jake Fromm: Controversial comments
BillsFanSD replied to Elite Poster's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That apology is good enough for me and about what this warranted. If his teammates are okay with this (big if), then this is over as far as I'm concerned. I'll feel differently if I hear otherwise from his teammates. -
Sure, I hated Bryan Cox back in the day, but the guy brought some real flavor to an intense rivalry. Considering all the nondescript squads we've lived through until recently, I look back fondly on the characters of the SB era, including guys like Cox and Marino who were fun to hate. It's not like we didn't have any big personalities on our side of the field.

I basically agree with this ranking, but unlike a bunch of other folks I think the Bills are closer to the Ravens than they are to the Steelers/Broncos.

I was slightly bummed when we took Epenesa over Dobbins, but getting Moss in the third just goes to show why Beane is the GM and I'm not. I far prefer Epenesa + Moss to Dobbins + whatever DE we would have drafted in round three. If you include Diggs -- and I'm not sure how can't include him since he cost us our first round pick -- I think this draft is a pretty solid A. Obviously things will different three years from now with the benefit of hindsight. Diggs -- Legitimate #1 WR who doesn't need to be developed or adjust to the NFL. Should be a game-altering weapon from Week 1. Instantly makes Brown and Beasley better. Diggs contributes so much more in the current window than anybody we would have drafted at #22 that it makes that trade look like a steal for us. Epenesa -- Consistently disruptive throughout his career in a power conference. His ceiling isn't as high as more athletic guys, but his floor is very high, making this a safe, low-variance pick. I expect that he'll have a long career as a key contributor to a DL rotation. I also expect that he'll be more productive for us than he would for a lot of other teams, since he doesn't have to be "the guy" here. Epenesa strikes me as a Phil Hansen type who can exploit all the attention that his teammates get. Moss -- I love this pick. If you were to genetically engineer the perfect guy to split carries with Singletary, Moss is what you would come up with. As much as I like Singletary, it would not surprise me in the slightest if Moss emerges as the lead back with 60%-65% of the carries. The only negative associated with this pick is that RBs with his running style tend to have short careers in the NFL, but our focus should be on the upcoming 3-4 year window. Not to be too mercenary about it, but I'm not too worried about what happens after Moss plays out his rookie deal. Think about where we were two years ago. An ultra-raw rookie QB. Our leading receiver was a rookie UDFA. An aging Shady in the backfield. Arguably only one lineman who had any business starting for an NFL team. Jason Croom was our most reliable TE. All of those problems are fixed to varying degrees. Our WRs and RBs are outstanding IMO. The line isn't perfect by any means, but it's solid across the board (well, RT maybe) and we have quality depth. There's reason for optimism at TE. It's all up to Allen now. Davis -- Good size, good speed, needs development. I read someplace that his route tree is actually better than what shows up on tape, and of course it isn't his fault if the offense he played in was a little gimmicky. But really I don't know anything about Davis besides what I've read in the past 24 hours. I do know that I love that Beane continued to add competition at this position. I really don't see Foster or Duke as good depth players, and I would like upgrades there. Fromm -- I can't make up my mind on this pick. "Game manager" sounds like exactly what you're looking for in a backup QB. But you can't fix arm strength, and I worry that Fromm will end up being a very rich man's Nathan Peterman. I guess if he develops into Trent Edwards only with more leadership, that would be a success. I believe Beane when he says that Fromm was BPA by a good margin, and I trust this front office to know what they're doing. Bass -- Obviously I know next to nothing about this player, but I know that this team needs to improve at PK. Hodgins, Jackson -- No opinion, except I like Hodgins' size and hands. I'm honestly surprised we even made these picks and didn't trade them away at some point. If either of these players make the roster, that would be great. It's really hard to imagine seven rookies making our team though. The first three picks (including Diggs) were great and addressed clear needs. The rest of the picks were logical, with no head-scratchers or weird reaches. They won't all pan out, but I understand what Beane was thinking with each of them. Looks good to me.
