  1. I like Lamar a lot, but there is absolutely no way I would trade Allen for him straight up. No way. Realistically I agree that he's likely to get a contract similar to Allen's. That's too much IMO and I'll be happy if the Ravens overspend at the position.
  2. At this point in Josh's career, he had already won a road game as a double-digit underdog and given the fan base an all-time highlight play. Call we when Wilson does something. Positive I mean.
  3. This is one area where I'm in favor of the modern NFL. Farting on a guy should at least be unsportsmanlike conduct.
  4. The last time the offense played well was against the Colts in the playoffs. They struggled against the Ravens (elite), Chiefs (elite) and Steelers (elite). The Dolphins are not elite. Bills win easy.
  5. Allen obviously didn't have a good game, but I'm not seeing him as being anything close to the problem on Sunday. The Steelers were getting consistent pressure, often right up the middle, with just 3-4 rushers and they did a good job of keeping him in the pocket instead of rolling out where he could improvise. There is no quarterback in the NFL who would look good under those conditions, including Mahomes in the super bowl last year. Combine that with some questionable (at best) playcalling, and here we are. I really think the issues on offense this weekend were about 90% on the offensive line and about 10% on Daboll. The reason why I place so little weight on Daboll is because we still would have won the game probably by multiple scores if our linemen had just been able to keep the Steelers' DL under control. Good blocking covers up all sorts of shaky play calls.
  6. I thought New England and Miami both looked not even remotely threatening yesterday. If the Bills lose to Miami, I agree that it will be time for a modestly-sized freak-out, but I really don't expect that to happen.
  7. This was pretty much how I saw it. There were quite a few plays where the Pittsburgh receiver managed to come down with the ball despite extremely good coverage. That or they drew a flag. I lost count of the number of those plays that allowed a drive to continue -- I'm sure it was only just a few, but they were critical and led directly to points, and they were also kind of flukey. I can't say that I'm concerned at all about the defense after yesterdays game, except maybe for CB2 but that's not why we lost.
  8. I understand that this team isn't really built around its TEs (obviously), and it's not as if we had any problem scoring points last year with Knox and Lee freaking Smith at the position. But man Hollister certainly looked like a serviceable, low-end starter to me during the preseason, somebody who would make for really nice depth behind Knox and maybe push him for snaps. I don't get letting him walk.
  9. Hey guys, has anybody mentioned the possibility that maybe we'll re-sign Hollister after moving some other player to IR? Surprised that hasn't occurred to anybody yet.
  10. He and Beasley can hang out together.
  11. I think Johnson is maybe worth a little more than a sixth round pick. Like a fifth. This is fine though. We were going to have to cut an NFL-caliber DE. Getting something for one of them is a positive. Good on Beane for adding a lottery pick for next year's roster.
  12. One would assume so. I'm pissed at these guys, and I'm a fan who likes both of them and wishes them well. Players who are depending on them for a potential championship campaign have got to be a little more than just irritated.
  13. I was just thinking about this topic over the weekend. IMO the 1990s team was objectively better and would beat the 2021 team even under the NFL's current rules. People forget just how absolutely stacked the good teams were back then, in the days before free agency. As others have noted, those teams had four HOFers and a bunch of guys who maybe weren't HOF quality but still superb. I'm thinking specifically of Biscuit and Talley, but I'm sure I'm forgetting some guys. Nate Odoms maybe? Wolford? That said, I think today's team is better relative to the rest of the NFL. It's a QB-driven league, and the gap between Allen and the median starting QB is larger than the gap between Kelly and the median 1990s-era QB. Actually, I'll just go ahead and say that Allen > Kelly IMO. This is really the thing, though. There's a high likelihood that we're living through a new golden age of Bills football. I hope everybody enjoys it because we know it won't last forever. Here's hoping to a solid decade or so of dominance.
  14. I will personally throw a parade in Beane's honor if he manages to get a 4th for Fromm. I would happily settle for a 6th, and that's probably asking for too much because everybody knows that he's going to hit waivers.
  15. This. Kumerow is ridiculously good for a sixth WR. I don't expect flawless play from somebody that deep on the depth chart, but the guy can make plays.
  16. Wait -- what? We swept the division last year.
  17. Another way to put it is that multiple NFL teams got a good, long look at a guy with a first round pedigree at the most important position in sports, and each of those teams couldn't get Rosen off their roster fast enough. They're seeing a bust.
  18. For me, I guess it was the combination of making the playoffs in 2017 and then the whole organization being willing to move heaven and earth to get a franchise QB and clear out a lot of salary cap deadwood. That was encouraging because the Bills of old would have tried to patch a hole here and there but otherwise keep the 2017 together and milk the flukey success they had for another season or two. I like that this regime had a long-range plan in mind and were willing to do a tear-down of a semi-successful roster to get there.
  19. I remember explaining to my son at the time that if we got our QB at #7, nobody would ever even remember what we gave up to get there. I have basically no recollection of what it took to trade up to that pick, and I'd definitely have to google it to piece together all the various pieces. Whatever it was, it was a bargain.
  20. Time to open up a bottle of the good stuff tonight.
  21. I was there for the Colts game -- wild atmosphere, great game, felt like the start of something very good. Whoops.
  22. I spent a few days hiking in the Rockies around Memorial Day, and of course I wore my Bills cap on the trails. I'd guess about half a dozen miscellaneous Bills fans said hi and stopped to talk about the team for a few minutes. That's indicative of a pretty good national following IMO. I mean, when was the last time you saw anybody wearing Jaguars gear unless they were literally just drafted and getting their hand shaken by Goodell?
  23. I'd rather that he play for one of the other 31 teams so we can see Allen light him up with some degree of regularity. It's just not the same when it happens in practice.
  24. I don't think I'll ever forget watching the end of the Bengals-Ravens game after they switched over from the Dolphins game. I totally cried and it was arguably the greatest sports day of my life. (The comeback was probably bigger in the grand scheme of things, but I didn't fully appreciate it at the time the same way I did with breaking the drought).
  25. LOL. Truer words have never been spoken. I feel like this game write-up, with just a few changes, could be swapped in for like a dozen other drought games.
