  1. I'd love Yannick, but I don't see us investing that much cap on one guy. It would be nice to have a WR that's taller than 6', so Jefferson would be nice. I hope he lasts that long.
  2. Do we really need more Carolina guys? Let it go already ?
  3. I remember that play. Michaels & Collinsworth were just as surprised looking at this as yesterday's were when Josh tossed the lateral.
  4. First, because some make an assertion, does not mean we all do. I've not complained about conservatism. But if I had, going on 4th and 27 is not being aggressive, it's insanity. With the defense we have and 3 time outs in pocket with 1:55 on the clock, he should have EXPECTED to get the ball back in decent field position. Of course I'm sure he never imagined Josh giving up another huge sack, so I don't consider that part of the equation, but even if I could have brought in KC's offense on that play, I would not have felt good about the chances of converting 4th & 27. A play that had zero impact on the outcome of the game. That may be true, but that play is going to linger in a lot of minds including his teammates. It was not heroic. It was not gutty. That was a panic play, plain and simple. If Josh continues to lose his mind, he'll lose the confidence of his locker room. That's the worry I have after watching yesterday's game.
  5. Given that Ford was a projected 1st rounder and I always like bringing in quality linemen, I felt better that if we passed on DJ, it was Ford at least, but I would have preferred DJ even back then.
  6. Wow, this topic has been fun to read. Let's be honest about a couple of things though: Fitz is a Harvard man, Josh is from Wyoming. That Fitz had a better wunderlich should not be a surprise to anyone. No shame in Fitzy outscoring you. I was wondering why our FB was 50 yards downfield in the first place. I hope to draw coverage from a primary target. IF he had actually timed that ball better (something I would not expect from a FB BTW), you would have heard a collective DIMARCO??? from space. Some because they never heard of him, the rest of us because we would still be wondering what he was doing there in the first place. I also feel you cannot say if DiMarco timed his jump better he would have caught it. Having two defenders on his back may have impeded his ability to maintain control on the way down. Just sayin'.
  7. Lighten up Francis. It's parody. If you consider that's Josh became a player to watch after the hurdle in Minnesota last year (a maneuver he somewhat replicated along the sideline yesterday with lesser success), then you have to admit this article is actually on point. Josh is definitely not boring.
  8. A couple of important distinctions between this play and yesterday's: 1) the college rule book does not mirror the pro book, so this may not exactly be apple to apples esp. with regards to "giving himself up" I'm not digging into the college playbook to confirm 2) This pitch went backwards, so it's a lateral. Yesterday's went forward, so it's a forward pass. In this case a TD is appropriate. Yesterday would not result in a TD if administered correctly.
  9. I'm not an Allen hater. I do have concerns though. Until he shows he can keep his head under pressure, I'll continue to have concerns. He executed the initial drive script well. He made a few positive plays because he has talent and athleticism. He made some errors that did not show growth. He should have been picked three times if Houston had defenders that can catch (hello Mr. Roby). The lateral though. That caused me to lose a lot of faith that he may already be near his ceiling. Booger said he liked Josh's poise. Booger's poise bar is obviously WAY lower than mine.
  10. He's not going to report w/o an extension. If you want to do it, do it now. Cheaper and the first year starts now, not a year from now. Better business to get it done this off season.
  11. We won't have the $ once we start extending guys (Tre, Poyer, Dawkins for starters). To get Bulaga to leave GB, we'll have to pay more than they would. I'm also curious to know if Waddle still figures in.
  12. I believe all would lead to some dead cap. I also don't see this as our front office MO. They brought in all three guys. I don't see them just jettisoning them all. I gave some though to Fitz, but I can't see him coming here if he doesn't retire.
  13. Conklin will cost too much. Bulaga is 31. I'd prefer younger and cheaper. Doesn't need to already be a stalwart already. Someone that can play like Ty, but stay healthy. He's not a FA. That would require a trade.
  14. Actually, DK could have been taken instead of Ford and we'd still have Oliver. In other news: I'm sure Saints fans are wishing they had these refs for OPI instead of the ones they had.
  15. That would be wonderful, but he'll cost WAY too much.
  16. I expect Mariota to look for a situation where he can compete for the starting job (Carolina if Cam is gone, or Raiders maybe). I also expect he'll want more than I'd like to spend on a #2 QB. Sorry, I offered more than 1 name, so I'm editing. I'll say Apple.
  17. Duke will have a full off season with the team. Hopefully he'll progress. To assume he is as good as he's going to be is illogical. I do like the timing/rapport he has with Josh already. I think he can be an asset, but I don't expect more than a WR4, or WR5 role. If he were to lead the team in targets next year, either he has made incredible strides, or we're in trouble.
  18. Unfortunately, the spirit of the rule in Ford's case did not come into play. That was a literal interpretation on a play where the defender saw the block coming, was not "forcibly" contacted and did not even fall down on the play. That's not the spirit of the blindside block rule.
  19. Is there a thread about that? I listened to McD's presser last night knowing that question would be posed. It was, but he totally answered off point. Has anything else been offered as to why in the world we didn't kick deep to pin the Texans down giving us a better chance to get field position on the last drive making a TD possible? Obviously, the sack was unexpected, but I did not understand the strategy whatsoever. I know we pulled out the last minute FG ultimately, but that doesn't really excuse the decision.
  20. Win, or lose, it's always next year. I did expect the Bills to win yesterday, but I did not expect them to advance further. Too many repeated flaws to overtake elite teams. We're better and I enjoyed rooting for MY team on a playoff weekend and actually believing we could win. I just hope we make further strides forward this off season. Getting many players to work together this off season will be nice. I hope we can be healthier this off season than we were this past year.
  21. My issue on the 3rd & 18 is that the 3 middle defenders were all set up behind the line to gain. They should have been no deeper so they could react forward ensuring no 1st down. That set up was poorly executed.
  22. Because predicting outcomes this early is futile, but only 3 road games are worrisome. On any given Sunday always applies, but I like our chances against Raiders, Broncos, Cardinals, Jets & Dolphins. The home schedule is tougher, but if we actually continue to improve and not regress, five wins at home should be a minimum expectation.
  23. TODAY, I'd rather be a Texans fan. They're celebrating. I'm here getting free therapy on the message board.
  24. I'd like to see Dabol stay and maintain continuity. If he does go, I'd be curious to see if Dorsey's ready. Bring Anderson back as QB coach if he's interested. If not, who are legitimate OC candidates?
