    In an effort to sincerely answer you, I tried to backtrack to the post in question and was unsuccessful. Sorry, my surfing skills aren't what they used to be. Point being.. the great 1990's Bills were eaten by growing contracts of all their superstars. While not quite the same level, I'm getting the same whiff today.

    The Bills have a defense led by Von freaking Miller. They could keep us close in games with even the best. In those situations we only need a serviceable QB.

    Yep. Smith was a teletubby his first couple years, then he transformed into a beast. Also, not known to many, Smith became an astute student of game film. On his own time, he studied his upcoming opponents--then he shredded them. He wasn't great by accident. He earned it. Von Miller is on track to be the same.

    To my point, Overdorf is now consulted, whereas in the past he's run unsupervised. Today, Beane makes the call, Beane is the cap boss. I'll have to take your word that Overdorf has a great reputation. I have nothing to support nor deny such an assertion.

    Thankfully, gone are the days when the unimaginative Jim Overdorf was delegated the task of running the salary cap. Beane is much better at it. Whaley and other GM's just let Overdorf run the contracts show without supervision it seems.

    Yep. They had the draft picks, but they didn't have their pick of coaches/GMs. It seems the hockey world has a dearth of coaches and GMs. There was zero on the market when the Sabres were hiring. But this is a Bills Board: Go JA17.. and whatever jersey number Von Miller gets.
