  1. I have always heard that one of the signs of how good a coach is revolves around the adjustments they make at halftime. I couldn't agree with you more. There were a lot of years where we were "out-adjusted" by other coaches at halftime... nice to have the shoe on the other foot.
  2. I pretty much gave up after the second New England game. I was down on Donahoe and labeled the team as quitters. I am very happy that I overeacted and was totally wrong. No matter what happens the rest of the year Bills... thanks for not being quitters... thanks for a great run! And "Ol' Whitey"... I tip my hat to you... never thought I would say that!
  3. How good did the defense play today? I take it Vincent was at free safety... I wouldn't know because I don't remember his name being called. San Fran never got that far! What a defense!
  4. I hate to age myself, but I played high school football with a very interesting individual that played Pro football. In 1973 Mark Murphy graduated from Clarence High School. I graduated in 1974 but got to play on the same team with him. Upon graduation, he turned down numerous scholarships to attend Colgate (non-scholarship school). After a great collegiate career, he was signed as a free agent by the Washington Redskins. We all figured that even with his talent he wouldn't make it. The team was coached by George Allen, who did not have a fondness for rookies. Well, to make a long story short (I know... it's too late) , he ended up eventually starting at free safety, played on a couple of Super Bowl teams, got his law degree and I believe ended up as the President of the Players association. He is presently the AD at Colgate. Never met a nicer guy, he never had a big head and could have probably played Pro hoops or baseball.
  5. I do differentiate between the two. I welcome well thought out, objective comments... I enjoy the healthy debates they generate. My comment was intended for the posters, that no matter what, look for the negative. Merry Christmas!
  6. Some people look for the good, some people look for the bad... anyone complaining or being negative right now must be small, unhappy people. It's Christmas time, the Bills have won 5 in a row and my family is great... I have nothing to be negative about. I hope everyone else's family is doing well... if so there is no reason to be negative... Happy Holidays and Go Bills!
  7. And our punter is basically another weapon we have. Back to fact that we have a great TEAM!
  8. It's just hard to understand the mentality. Must be a very unhappy person...
  9. He has made sense! You know... logic aside, why are you looking at this team in such a negative manner. You know what makes being a Bills fan great... HOPE! I am excited because we are playing great and WINNING games! Hundreds of thousands of people are excited and are enjoying this run because we are fans... why look to the negative?? When we were 0 and 4 I could see it, but to make these points now... I just don't get it. OK, back to logic... we have a team playing great TEAM football and our chances are no worse than any other teams. We win this week and it's six in a row... If this team ends up 10 and 6, are you really going to say we are not a good football team?
  10. As mentioned earlier... he also benefitted from being a "system" quarterback... same as Bart Starr. Would Brady, in the position Bledsoe is in have any more success than Drew has?
  11. Point taken!!!!
  12. It is a shame he can't play Sunday. What a wonderful opportunity it would have been for him to showcase his abilities. Also, too bad for the Bills. If they are planning on trading him this could have really helped.
  13. I couldn't agree more. The bottom line is that we want the Bills to succeed. I can't imagine anyone wanting to see a failure just to be proved right.
  14. I think one of my greatest memories of early games (other than OJ) involved our getting to see Joe Namath at home once a year. We seemed to play pretty well against him, but he was a true star and fun to watch.
  15. I don't doubt it. But I do doubt that all of these posters did the same. Thanks.
  16. I now join in the accolades for Donahoe, but I am amazed at the amount of "I told you so" type posts. I was very, very down on him through last year and after an o and 4 start posted as such. I am curious how many people (and I am not pointing fingers) supported him through last year and up until recently. If you thought he was wonderful all this time, great... keep posting about how wrong everyone else was. But I find it hard to believe that everyone making the condensending comments didn't question his abilities at one time. I am very pleased that he is in charge of our team, but feel anyone that questioned him was right to doubt him through the Williams fiasco... which ultimately hurt our team for years.
  17. I remember the game he intercepted a pass and blew out his knee.. the end of a brilliant career. He was something special.
  18. Mostly NFC guy... but Ray Scott was an all time great announcer.
  19. I am not good with dates, so bear with me... I have also commented on one or two of these before; 1) I remember when Dave Washington (linebacker for the Bills) picked up Mercury Morris and slammed him headfirst to the turf. I never can recall a louder cheer for a one time incident. I believe this game was at the Rockpile 2) The first game at RWS (Rich Stadium at the time). It was a preseason game against Washington and they took the opening kickoff (the very first play in the stadium) for a touchdown. It was quite a downer 3) The Monday Night game against the Raiders (I think this was at Rich in the mid-70's where half the fans left due to Buffalo looking like they had lost the game. There was a miracle finish (which I heard in the %%##@@** car because we had left). The Bills won and no one in my family has ever left a game early since then. 4) Of course the Monday Night game, again I think it was in the seventies, when that Yahoo climbed across the wire holding up the netting in the end zone 5) When they used to kick extra points or fieldgoals in the Rockpile, there was no netting for years... it was entertaining to see the muggings and all out carnage involved with everyone in the end zone battling for the ball Sorry... these are not all great games... just significant memories I have. Remember from the late 60's through the mid-eighties the Bills did not produce a lot of winning teams. Still... great memories of just being a Bills fan. I'll probably think of a bunch more later...
  20. The NBA has evolved into a joke. When I was a kid (Bill Russell era) I loved watching it. I lost interest until Bird/Magic ( I graduated from college in 1979... when they did) and enjoyed watching their team oriented battles over the years. The modern game is offensive (not in a scoring way). I can't even stand to watch Sportscenter when they go crazy regarding the selfish one- on -one play and put eight dunks into their top ten plays. Maybe it's a generational thing... but I wouldn't watch a free game with courtside tickets...
  21. Where are you coming from in Ohio? Generally they are always wrong regarding forecasts in NW Ohio.
  22. Interesting! Every discussion I have read about trading Henry involves what kind of draft pick we can get. I like the thought of using him to trade for a positional need. Guess I missed the boat on that thought... but I think we could do a lot better using your approach then a draft pick.
  23. Unless I remember incorrectly due to the "70's haze" I read the books in... wasn't Saruman killed in the Shire?
  24. I like the looks of it but concur with Thailog. I had a Chrysler Concorde LXI for the past four years and it was a definate POS. I made every maintenance schedule and still had numerous breakdowns, engine lights coming on all the time, needed all new injectors and sparkplugs, new air conditioning coil, noise in the front end which could never be fixed, etc... It was also a loud car as far as "road noise" I got a new car in October and will never go near a Chrysler again!
  25. I have no reason to dislike him other than him blowing off the opportunity to coach the Bills... but it sure is sweet to beat his team the past two years...
