Met him at a church function when I was pretty young. I remember his discussing how he had to work an additional job (along with being a Bill)... how times have changed!

Why pick on Pegula... wasn't Russ there?

When asked that question (homosexual) in the movie "Stripes"... Harold Ramis... "No, but we would be willing to learn".

Harry Jacobs... met him as a kid. I will always remember what a "regular guy" he was and the fact that he told us he had to work a second job to make ends meet. Todays' NFL players probably could not even grasp that concept.

Wouldn't you love to see what's going on at OBD today? I would. Just walk up and down the halls, asking people what they're doing.
Like Brian Daboll. What's he doing today. Some part of his work is reviewing scouting reports, on college agents, on guys who are potential free agents, on guys the Bills have on the roster. He's reviewing film. He's giving his views about players to McDermott, Beane and the scouting team. He's asking questions about these guys. But he's probably also studying film and designing his offense. Where does he start doing that? He's managing his team of assistant coaches, giving them assignments. Maybe he's doing some preliminary plans for workouts when the team starts to get together for spring workouts. He's planning the preliminary installation of the offense. He probably has a worklist, a to-do list. McDermott has tasked him with things to do, and he's doing those things.
That's happening up and down the halls. Everyone has a job to do this morning, this afternoon, and this evening. They're working hard.
Beane is talking to coaches in the building. He's on the phone to scouts, telling them what new information they need to dig up. He's talking with cap people about how they could manage the cap to acquire players he's interested in. He's working on big decisions, like do they want Cousins, and if he's already answered that he's moved onto other decisions. He's talking to other GMs about what's happening in the league, thoughts about players, possible trades, interest in moving up or down in the draft. He's collecting information.
Some other people are trying to figure out how to sell more tickets.
We're sitting around yakking about some sports witer's latest tweet, but those guys in Orchard Park are working all day long, working to implement plans and directives, all designed to get ready for (1) the beginning of free agency, (2) spring workouts, (3) the draft, (4) training camp.
I'd love to see it.
Russ keeps sticking his head in their offices offering "opinions"...

Fletcher was probably the best athlete on the field. Not sure why you say he was slow.
He was terrible in pass coverage, athleticism or not...

I am glad he is gone but he was not granted any favors by MCD/Beane with the loss of Woods and Watkins and the addition of Tolbert. Again, he deserved to be fired but part of our offensive woes were due to a lack of talent.

If you can find a biography on Murphy, he is a very interesting story. I was on his high school team, he was a star in three sports and the nicest guy you could ever meet. Not surprised he would make a statement like that. It's a helluva story making the Redskins as a free agent in the George Allen era and where his career led him after his playing days.

might not be the first, but the first i went to 'by myself'. In the early 70's i loved Fran Tarkenton....Minnesota came to Buffalo for a snow game(Chuck Foreman hurdled over a snowball that was thrown). I was in 7th Grade at AV Zogg MS in Liverpool. My folks let me leave school early, put me on a greyhound, made me sit directly behind the bus driver. Took the bus to buffalo, my Aunt and Uncle picked me up. We went to the game in their season tickets, and there i was in my Purple and Gold toque. I loved the Bills, but Tark was my man! One of my fondest memories
Was that the game a fan hit Foreman in the face with a snowball, also?

Hey, this gives Hue Jackson a shot at obliterating Harvey Johnson's record as worst head coach of all time. Harvey was 2-23-1 in two interim stints with the Bills and if my math is right Jackson is a scintillating 1-27 with the Browns.
And some of our younger fans think this stretch of poor play is tough. The Harvey Johnson era was really "special"...

He threw two balls up for grabs off his back foot while not even trying to elude the rush. Not ready for prime time and may never be. The team is alive for the playoffs, so Taylor starts
After these 3 performances how in the world can you say this team is alive for the playoffs? Mathematically, of course, but come on...

Shady quit? Any evidence that they quit. Did Benjamin "quit" by deciding to hyper-extend his knee? it's called a lack of talent, not quitting.
And who is responsible for the lack of talent? Sure, some players don't quit but based on these three performances it is not just lack of talent.
-
Bottom line... the team quit in three consecutive games. That is on the coach.
-
This is worse than the Harvey Johnson years. Please fire this clown of a coach.
-
Fire the process!

if anyone here finds themselves in this sort of state at 67 years of age, please turn off the tv, and re-evaluate your life.
If you are in your 60's and have followed this team since its inception, feel free to critique his comments. I love the Bills and always support them but to be a fan all of these years... patience wears thin.

Anybody Else Find Themselves Less and Less Interested in the NFL?

I have followed the Bills since their inception. I still watch all their games and follow them as a fan. I used to watch all other possible games (1:00, 4:00, 8:00, Monday night but no more.
Maturity, more time with family, other interests... I could care less about other teams. I will generally watch the playoffs and Super Bowl but a lot of times only a half or so.
Why... spoiled athletes, other interests... I don't have a great explanation, maybe when you get in your sixties you find there is more to life than the NFL.
I have had a similar experience with all major professional sports. I lived for the NBA (old Celtic/Lakers rivalries, then Magic versus Bird, but then team play went away and I cant remember the last time I watched an NBA game.
