You can argue that the order of the plays were different, but they essentially ran the same offense they always do. They difference from this week to the next was the execution.

The order of the plays is what it's all about though. Especially when judging an OC. It's what you call and when you call it. It's how you setup things for the future then capitalize on it. It's how you a reading what the defense is trying to do to you and then effectively countering that. Of course the offense is the same offense. It's GOING to be the same offense. It's about how it's called in-game and how it's executed.  Dorsey's problem was never the playbook.

Do wonder if Ty Johnsons play will spell the end of Fournette's career on the Bills before it ever even started.

Johnson replaces Harris. Fournette is there to put heat on Murray

was surprised to see they played a bit more traditional 4-3 today, and Dodson really made some stops in both the run and pass game today.

When you know the other team really can't throw and isn't going to spread the field and the only way they can really hurt you is running the ball then you can play more real 4-3 defense.

I’m not sure what everyone else felt when they watched the game today, but by Q2 it felt like I wasn’t watching the same team/Josh as a week ago. I’m not sure exactly what the biggest contributing factor was, but Joe Brady seems to understand (at least for week one) how to get plays in on time, to scheme against a very tough opponent, make adjustments, and to let Josh do his thing.

I don’t know what I expected to see exactly in week 1 of Joe Brady’s offense, but that deep ball coming in with a perfect throw against arguably the best CB in football made me feel all sorts of things. Seeing Josh fired up against a division rival was encouraging, and I feel like if this guy was here a month ago we destroy NE and hang a few more against Denver.

Kincaid, Cook, and Shakir doing big things tonight was further proof that Joey B knows we have weapons and drew up a plan that got them involved right away. He seemed to know that Diggs was capable to make plays but likely to be double covered most of the night, so he worked around that. Another showing like this for Shakir and Davis may be seeing a few less snaps (especially as he didn’t do anything this evening). Again, it’s only 1 game, but it’s encouraging to win - and win decisively.

It was nice to see a cohesive offensive attack for a change rather than throwing darts hoping something will work.  Also, re: Davis and Shakir. They play different positions and Davis would have had a TD today if the line held up for another second.  He was going to be open and Allen was about to throw him the ball.  It's not about who plays and who doesn't.  They can all play and have a role. in a 1 TE offense.  What I saw today that was encouraging is that they didn't seem to be forcing the ball to any one particular player.  They had a coordinated attack of running the ball and then taking advantage of the aggressive LBs in the middle of the field.  That led to the slot guys and backs getting more throws tonight. Davis was on the field almost all night and did a good job blocking and drawing coverage downfield.  If you don't cover him, Allen WILL throw it there so you have to keep someone back and respect it. That just gives the middle of the field guys even more room to work.  If the OC is doing it right, everyone can be an option.  The defense CAN'T guard everyone so it's taking what's there and getting the defense to try to play whack a mole.  Some days will be like today where it's the middle of the field and Davis and Diggs don't see the ball as much as the TEs, backs and Shakir.  This is how it SHOULD be though. Throw to the open dude. If they want to double Diggs, someone else is open. They want to shut down the deep throws? The middle of the field is open. They have enough guys that can catch the ball. They have enough players that can get open. Everything needs to be working harmoniously to make that happen and that's what Dorsey sucked at. Too many times the offense had zero rhythm and when that happened he'd default into forcing the ball to Diggs to try to get it going.

So what if we went ribeye, "with"

    What's the cheese?

Ribeye is correct, it's shaved down super thin then chopped up on the flattop.  "wit" gets you fried onions.  Cheese you get some debate even here. American, provolone, or some places do whiz.  I don't care for the whiz. I generally prefer provolone wit. Tonight I had a good american wit.  I like the provolone flavor a little better to it but the American cheese gets really integrated into the sandwich in a way that provolone doesn't.  Whiz does that really well also, I just don't like Whiz.  I'd actually like to be present if you walk into a place and order one with swiss.  It will be comedic.

You don't see green peppers on cheesesteaks here, at least not often, and you have to ask for them specifically if you want them. It's not part of a "standard" cheesesteak order. Also, no lettuce or tomato or mayo or any of that.  Why would you want lettuce on a hot sandwich like that anyway? It's just going to wilt immediately.

As someone else stated the rolls matter a lot and they are hard to duplicate outside Philly.  Baking is chemistry and the water you use to make any dough matters a lot.  The specific mineral content, pH, etc. of the water in Philly municipal water will be different than somewhere else. The more different the water is the harder it is to reproduce a specific baked product. I know of places that import Philly water just to make rolls with.  Amoroso's you can get from the store and they are ok.  A lot of the shops use Liscio's and they are a little different.  You want something that is a little crusty but not hard so it stands up to the meat and the cheese. Too soft a roll will just disintegrate.  Sort of like a good kimmelweck roll is just a little bit crusty.  The grocery store Amoroso's that come in the plastic bags are softer than ideal, the shop delivered Amoroso's are better.  I'm going to guess that the dough is a little different because the ones in the store are expected to last on the shelf longer than the daily delivery ones.

    Bam!  End thread.

My only issue is I can't cut the ribeye thin enough.  Suggestions?

Freeze it some before you slice it

For steak use the best deli roast beef you can get

To clarify, you obviously cook it up with peppers, onions and mushrooms then melt the cheese of your choice right into it... Cheddar and swiss blend is our favorite. Mayo on the toasted roll

We also add spinach to the mix, again cooked right in with everything

There is so much wrong with this. To each their own, but almost no part of this is a Philly cheesesteak.

That said the cheesesteak is not the best sandwich here.  Roast pork with sharp provolone and broccoli rabe all day.

It's nice of the refs to just decide to ***** us over, got to keep it closer I guess.

Of course Dawkins celebrated he figured he got free yards from someone else's obvious stupid decision. How could he possibly know the refs were that ***** dumb.

It would help if Von Miller could play up to even a fraction of what he is being paid.  Two starter caliber players could have been had with the money he is getting.  One tackle so far, and I don't expect anything from him going forward.  He is out there for the exercise in my view.

    He's currently Aaron Maybin.

which is why I effectively said in the poll thread that 82% of active posters who responded to the poll are clueless. They're all butt hurt because in their minds McDermott dashed their high hopes and ruined their year (even though the final outcome has yet to be determined).

McDermott has been overmatched since day 1 and has been fortunate enough to be able to out talent most of the teams he faces. Now that he can't do that you see what happens. Sean needs to scheme up some wins and it's not happening.

  9. I don't think Bills fans are tougher on coaches than anyone else. Right now I think we expect to see a well run, well disciplined team and we don't see that. We see stupid sloppy errors that are costing them games. Not talent issues or physical errors, mental errors. The sort of errors that teams that are generally considered to be well coached don't see. They also see the team frequently starting slowly and in a malaise, indicating that they aren't ready to play and/or that the game plan was poorly conceived. At this point McDermott is a veteran coach. People get pissy with dumb mistakes.

Bengals fans had to put up with 16 years of Marvin Lewis futility.

    Bad example.

Eagle fans rode Andy Reid's clock management, horrible press conferences, and failure in big games for years.

most of Josh's haters in the media? They never played football.

When did this become a qualifier? Most of the people who criticize anyone haven't done that thing. Most of the people who criticize my field haven't done it. Most people who criticize the President haven't been President. Does that mean we can't assess whether or not they are doing a good job? Certainly doesn't seem to stop anyone. Media or not.

I know I hang on Cris Collinsworth and Tony Romo's every word. They played football after all.

Maybe. We'll see if whether it was Allen the figured out, or Dorsey.

And if it's Dorsey they need to fire the offensive quality control people too because self scouting is their job. If the league figured out the offense they should be seeing it. But then again what do I know about football.

Ironic, the nfl want to keep putting safety rules in place yet injuries are sky rocking at a faster pace than ever before. Seems to be having the opposite affect.

It's not about that. The more obtuse judgement calls you introduce into the game the more you can control the outcome. Holding isn't called until it is magically once or twice in huge spots, pass interference, illegal contact, roughing the QB, now stuff like this. All of it can be called almost every play but isn't. Then insert the what is a catch or not crap, intentional grounding, hell even delay of game has become subjective. It's all in the up and up though.

I do feel bad for Dorsey in that I think he was trying to teach Josh how to dink and dunk therefore making him the true ultimate weapon, but Josh is not built that way. Dorsey tried to simplify things and beat teams with execution, but this is not the team for that.

Some people call that trying to put a square peg into a round hole.

    Coaching career

    New Orleans Saints

In 2017, Brady was hired by the New Orleans Saints as an offensive assistant under head coach Sean Payton.

    LSU

In 2019, Brady joined head coach Ed Orgeron and the LSU Tigers as their passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach.[1][2] Recognized as the top assistant coach during the 2019 college football season, Brady was honored with the 24th annual Broyles Award.[5] Subsequently, he emerged as a leading candidate for numerous offensive coordinator vacancies in the NFL,[6][7] but eventually agreed to a three-year contract extension with LSU.[8]

    Carolina Panthers

On January 16, 2020, Brady was hired by the Carolina Panthers as their offensive coordinator under head coach Matt Rhule.[9] The Panthers were selected to coach in the 2021 Senior Bowl, but Brady missed the game due to COVID-19 protocols.[10] On December 5, 2021, Brady was fired by the Panthers.[11]

    Buffalo Bills

On February 4, 2022, Brady was hired by the Buffalo Bills as their quarterbacks coach, replacing Ken Dorsey after his promotion to offensive coordinator. After Dorsey's mid-season firing in the 2023 season, Brady was promoted to interim offensive coordinator.[12]

Based on his time in Carolina I don't expect much.

Also, we hired the QB Coach who was at the helm during a massive regression by...the QB.  I can't wait to see what's next.
