I am glad we found a way to introduce “the league manipulating” into this thread.   The first dozen or so posts failed to address this.   Phewww … I was afraid we were going to have a straightforward tactic vs. rule conversation.

I’ll be back later.   I have to remove the fillings from my teeth that the CIA is using to track my whereabouts.

I await your explanation for this phenomenon.

Thanks, Mr. Official.... i know the rules VERY well, I know the calls very well, I know the game very well. You're not some savant because you know what illegal motion is. This is a discussion forum and I'm also trying to figure out why it's not called, hence, maybe McVay found that "rounding" a motion won't get called (which is why i put loop hole in quotes). This is not manipulation of games.. this isn't a conspiracy theory. Get off your high horse.

Then you explain why the referees, all of them, stopped making an obvious call all at once.

I thought the OLine was all supposed to be within a yard of the LOS.. but it seems everyone just has one lineman slightly behind the next, by the time you get to the tackle, he’s usually 2 yards off the ball.  Look at the infamous KC offensive Offside play, for ex.    Am I seeing this all wrong?

    Nope. You're seeing it correctly.

I have to assume it's because the shoulders aren't getting square to the line. I noticed it too.. It's almost like they're "rounding" in to it. I wonder if that's a "loop hole" ..

But I agree, it would be very advantageous for Hill to do that, Lamb, etc etc. However, just like the Chiefs and their LT lining up in the backfield essentially, it'll get called and they'll stop.

It's not a loop hole. You can't be moving towards the LOS at the snap. It's been that way since there has been football in this country. It's illegal motion. If you do move towards the line you have to stop and become set before the snap.

What it is, is the league manipulating outcomes in games. Clearly the refs have been told to ignore this, and they are. They will until there is an uproar about it when someone goes full CFL motion in a playoff game and it goes uncalled. At that point they will make some sort of BS statement about how it's been a rule all along, then the following week they'll call the hell out of it to prove their point.

First ever for a televised game- no commercials in the 4th quarter!

I would gladly subscribe to Peacock if they kept that up.

"If you stick around for the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s Peacock-exclusive game between the Bills and the Chargers, you won’t see Jake from State Farm. Unless he’s at the game.

NBC announced on Thursday that, for the first time ever, the fourth quarter of an NFL game will be broadcast without commercial interruption.

“We are proud to work with our partners at the NFL to present this first-of-its kind experience,” NBC Sports president Rick Cordella said. “NBC Sports’ best-in-class NFL production, Peacock’s fan-friendly viewer experience, and this innovative advertising model will allow NFL fans an exciting new way to watch the game’s conclusion.”

Unless the Chargers actually, you know, try this time, there’s a good chance that a running clock would be a more ideal innovation. That said, the experiment will give folks a reason to stick around, even if the Bills are comfortably ahead and the Chargers have comfortably thrown in the towel.

Unless you’re in L.A. or Buffalo, the only way to see the Bills-Charger game will be through Peacock. It has a deep and robust library of films, series, and live shows — including PFT Live, Monday through Friday at 7:00 a.m. ET.

On Saturday, game coverage begins at 3:00 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. First Bengals-Steelers will be televised by NBC and Peacock, before the 8:00 p.m. ET Bills-Chargers game, only on Peacock."

Watching tonight’s TNF game.  Seems like Rams running cheat/forward motion on half their passing plays.  Wondering why a) why that is not called illegal forward motion in the NFL and b) if it’s legal why don’t we do it?  If we do it, I don’t remember seeing it.  GO BILLS!

This is another example of something they USED to call but as OCs have figured out that theyve stopped calling it they've used it more. This isn't the CFL, that is a penalty. They are clearly consciously ignoring it because it's an easy call and it right out in the open with everyone looking at it. Add it to the OT in the backfield on every snap that they ignore.

No. You're missing the point.  Watch almost every pass play the Rams ran last night when they had a guy in motion.  The were always moving at an angle towards the line of scrimmage.

Yep. Miami does it too. All the time.

46 Leonard Smith is one of my all time favorite Bills.

Taylor Rapp is late to plays and takes personal fouls when QBs are sliding.  Stupid and dirty.

zero comparison.  Please don’t ever use Leonard Smith and Rapp in the same sentence

If Leonard Smith played today he'd be public enemy #1. He's not the only one of that era (Check Cecil comes to mind), it's just that the position and what is allowed has changed. The hit on Shakir was flagged and was very much just good defense in Leonard's day.

Because they knew if they did they’d be vulnerable to getting lit up with the pass. They bet Buffalo wouldn’t stay patient.

It was already 24-7 in the 4th quarter when Cook scored his 2nd TD against a light box. In the first half the DC can make that choice. By that time, with that score, they needed to stop the Bills from running the ball, grinding the clock, and killing the game. They just let it happen. If the shoe were on the other foot we'd be irate.

Absolutely. Cant wait for the next game. Crazy to think after that Denver game that we'd be so pumped at this point.

Cook is what this team has needed and they needed an OC who was willing to use him. Hand him the ball, throw him the ball, just give him the ball.  Make the defense focus on stopping him then magically all the other stuff we've wanted to do becomes available again.  Plus with Cook killing you the TE becomes a relevant player again and there is a reason to have them on the field other than as a big slot.  It all WORKS when you have a legitimate RB and the will to use them. That's what Dorsey didn't understand.

    The Josh effect ??

Well yeah, but at some point you need to capitulate and make the change. They just allowed it to keep happening.  Cook and the OL becoming a legitimate weapon is every DC's worst nightmare.  It puts them into an impossible bind which is just glorious.

Giving the opposing team the possession of the ball for potentially doing nothing is perfect?  🤷🏻‍♂️

I’d give the ball to the offense somewhere between the 10 and the 20.  The defense shouldn’t get the ball unless they recover it imo.

You incentivize reckless actions near the goal line if you don't lose possession.
