Happy Bobby Bonilla Day!
That's No Moon replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
That's solid work by the agent there and good on Bobby for agreeing to it. All players would be wise to seek out actual quality representation who looks out for their long term interests like that. Too many agents seek to maximize immediate cash payout because that's how THEY get paid and how THEY attract a bigger client base. Deals like this, while much less sexy, are incredibly good business. -
Q about getting to airport after game at New Era...
That's No Moon replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Found it completely by accident one time. I was driving down McKinley on a Saturday before the game when I noticed that all the parking lots on that side of McKinley are connected together in some fashion all the way around to the lots on Milestrip. Don't you all go ruining it for me now. Save the Batcave for special occasions only. Of course you can also just go through the mall parking lot over to Milestrip and use the light there to get you out but it's still on the wrong side of the McKinley intersection. Yes, TSA in B-Lo has been good on Sunday nights as well. I think they staff it appropriately on home game Sundays realizing that there are more people coming through than on a typical Sunday night. If you have the TSA pre-check it's even better. -

That's true, it's a good 10 minute walk. I always park on the far side of the campus as well. But as you said, those 10 minutes translate into getting straight out of the lot every time. -
IIRC in Darby's first pre-season he looked a hot mess then did a good job during the season. The transition to zone is going to be interesting though. Put me down for 6 wins. I don't see a lot of improvement on the roster. Some churn, yes, just not much that's actually better. As for McDermott I witnessed his dumpster fire of a defense in Philadelphia so I'll take a wait and see approach. Maybe he learned something from that debacle.

Q about getting to airport after game at New Era...
That's No Moon replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure there's more than one way to do it and everyone has their preferred parking lot to go to, etc. I generally prefer the ECC lot to the stadium lots because I've gotten stuck in stadium lots many times and I'm sure that's because I don't know the best places to park in each of those lots due to lack of experience. I'll wager that if we polled all of the major lots you'd be able to get a good way out and to the airport from each of them. What I know for certain is there was nothing better than the spot I was able to use when I had my season's back in the early 90's. If you remember the old bus/limo lot that no longer exists there was a tiny bit of parking in there. Needed to show a pass to the Cop directing traffic at that pedestrian crossing. We were out of there before most people even got to their cars. -

This. I've made that flight several times. I parked out at the far lot of ECC and walked quickly after the game. Not running, just walking with a purpose. Unless the game goes to OT you'll be fine. Of course if it's a blow out you should just leave early to be safe. In terms of route, I turned left out of ECC onto Southwestern, right onto Brompton, right onto McKinley, right into the first McKinley Mall entrance, cut through the parking lot up to the light, turn left and use the light to cross over McKinley into the other parking lot on the other side, turn right and cut through the parking lot all the way around to the Home Depot. Use the light at Home Depot to turn left onto Milestrip, right onto the Thruway and the hard work is finished. Get out in the left lane and put your foot down. I'm not normally a guy who advocates cutting through parking lots but getting to the airport is a special circumstance. -
What games will you be attending this year?
That's No Moon replied to Watkins90's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All the playoff games. So, none. -
If you see enough doctors you will find one who says what you want to hear. That said the NFL has absolutely no soul whatsoever. If the kid can play, wants to take the risk, and is willing to sign a contract the completely insulates the team, he'll find a job. When he gets hurt again the team will use whatever language they put into the contract to protect themselves and pay the kid as little as possible on his way out the door to a lifetime of health problems if not full on paralysis.

Jeremy Maclin (Agrees to 2 year deal with Ravens)
That's No Moon replied to BillsDiehard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A quick mess about on Spotrac got me to 10M of cap space just getting to the 53 man roster without cutting anyone important. If Maclin comes in a 4.5 there's still room and all the draft picks are already signed. Not for nothing, the closer camp gets Barnidge's price goes down, not up. That said I have to believe Baltimore makes a stronger offer. -

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Nothing is signed yet. -
Ferguson, Kofler, Dufek, Ferragamo, Mathison, Reich. Those are the six. Hertz?

Ryan Fitzpatrick to Terrell Owens, 98 yards in Jacksonville. Andre Reed 83 yards. <edit> I'm wrong, I looked it up but won't spoil. Without looking, name the 6 QBs who attempted a pass for the Bills during the illustrious 1984 and 1985 seasons.

Bills should have never cleared him medically last year. That was wishful thinking at best and they're lucky he's walking. -

I watched McDermott first hand with the Eagles when he took a really talented defense and couldn't do a thing with it. He was an absolute disaster. I'm not yet ready to anoint his player improvement skills to the point where we can comfortably sign any old guy and trust that McDermott and the Power of Christ will make them an effective player. -

Really, this is an extension of the Jones/Woods argument. Can you legitimately say the Bills upgraded at WR by letting Woods go and drafting Jones? I'd argue not. The 3rd WR is still, as of today right here in the Jeremy Maclin freaking thread, a problem. If you sign Woods AND draft Jones now your #3 WR is a better player and you have upgraded the WR position. In order to upgrade a position you have to push better players down the depth chart, not just churn. We are not better at CB, we are not better at S, we are not better at WR. We are different, different is not necessarily better and we are certainly not any deeper at those positions. Bringing it back to the thread, signing Maclin WOULD, however, upgrade the WR position as it would push a better WR to the 3 and thus the 4 and 5 slots. -

Yes, but he's not better, on paper, than the 2016 on-paper version of Aaron Williams. So, as I said, last year they needed 1 safety. This year they need 1 safety. The player they have is a reasonable starter. The second safety is hot garbage. All of the depth is the bacteria feeding on said hot garbage. Same situation as last year. Safety has not been upgraded. -

By that metric, any living safety would be an upgrade. -

And safety was an issue going into last season, so unless Hyde is an upgrade over Williams, which is questionable, or if Hyde is going to play both safety positions himself they haven't upgraded the position from where we were last year at this time. -

Lost 2 good corners, replaced them with a rookie and some lower tier FAs. Granted he was a #1 pick but rookies are rookies and you don't know if he's Antoine Winfield or JD Williams right now. Haven't upgraded the safety position at all. Linebacker is still sketchy. Where does Ragland fit? Does Brown bounce back at all? How do they use Alexander? What is Hodges' role? Does Lawson do anything this year? Can Kyle Williams stay healthy - if so what does he have left? Does Dareus buy in or go through the motions? There are plenty of things that need to go right for the defense to even be the same let alone better. -
Smerlas was a Plan B free agent, not the same as cut. If we are allowing Plan B to count Ronnie Harmon needs to go on the list based on his productivity after he left - not that anyone missed him at all. Also can't forget the circumstances around the team after 1989. There was a lot of house cleaning to get malcontents out of the locker room. That year alone saw Chris Burkett released during the season after he held out during camp, Smerlas and Harmon put on Plan B after the season. Smerlas was a pain in the ass his entire career. Also, McDole wasn't cut he was traded, that doesn't count. How about Ahmad Rashad? I'm not sure about the technicalities behind his leaving Buffalo other than he got hurt in 1975 and ended up in camp with the expansion Seahawks in 1976 who traded him to Minnesota where he made 4 Pro Bowls.
