  1. Monitoring phone use is a problem? Seems to me a kid just had his spot at Harvard taken away because of something stupid he said online years prior. I don't allow my son to have a phone at all. That's a problem? People bemoan parents acting this way then the institutions continue to act in ways that support the behavior. For example, the agent who got chastised for calling the kid too many times. At what point is it still parenting when an adult is calling their minor child attempting to conduct business. How many times is too many times? Obviously the kid doesn't HAVE an agent yet so until they do is the parent NOT the one who is supposed to act in their child's best interest? They are supposed to step out of the way and let the agents do whatever they want and say whatever they want to their kid to convince them to sign on? I'm sure the agent was being entirely scrupulous because you know, agents. It's like the coaches who call on players for recruiting purposes, sure coach have at it I'll just step out of the way for you to tell my kid whatever line of crap you want. The example they gave with the Haskins' family. They need to coach people on how to behave because WE the public will scrutinize every move they make in public, so the parents are just supposed to let that happen? Parents in sports ARE a problem but these examples aren't the reason.
  2. Yeah, you'd think they'd have learned from that.
  3. I don't think he will he doing anything important.
  4. They're going to hire the guy from New England next year. I'm sure that was the agreement that was reached between the Texans and Pats. In exchange for not pursuing a tampering charge on Houston they agreed not to hire the guy until some future date. Probably post NFL Draft 2020.
  5. Yup, that'll play well with future employers...
  6. In one of her previous arrests the police stated she went back into a vehicle and grabbed several bags of nuts. Maybe that's her thing when she's angry. For the record, no. That's the definition of crazy eyes.
  7. Alrighty then.
  8. Anyone else open this thread thinking it was about "Whip 'em Out Wednesday"??
  9. Booooooo! I'd like to see if we can beat this horse into a 40 page marathon! Kelvin kept dropping the product.
  10. I'll take him over Peterman sight unseen.
  11. this is possible given the way Beane streams players through in workouts and churns the bottom of the roster.
  12. and for the record, if he's in shape, I'm fine with taking a look. He's a talented runner who racked up a lot of mileage in college and early in his career. He got hurt, then he got heavy and he was out of the league. If some time away from the game has allowed his body to heal up and having no job has motivated him to put the fork down I don't see a downside. He'll be dirt cheap with no risk attached.
  13. They could supply their own shoulder pads from the 80's wardrobe. #RalphIsCheap
  14. I know right? After the next lockout and salary roll back it will be quite the bargain.
  15. Awesome way to spread human pathogens as well. Remind me not to eat from your garden.
  16. Jason Peters got a low 1, a 4 and a conditional 6. Peters was 27 and had no injury history. I don't think Williams is worth that much at 30 with his mileage.
  17. Did they ever find the seats?
  18. Yes, they get paid for in Pennsylvania via state taxes. If you pulled the tolls off the Thruway all of the maintenance costs would be exactly the same you would just be paying them through NY state taxes instead of tolls. As for promising one thing and doing another, that's a pretty naive way to look at it. The Thruway is substantially different today than when it was first constructed. The money for that didn't just come from thin air either. You don't like paying the toll on the Thruway? Don't drive on it. Now it's free to you.
  19. Your choice, leave the tolls on and tax out of state people and truck traffic or take them off and pay for all the maintenance out of your tax dollars. The road isn't going away and won't stop needing repairs. How would you rather pay for it?
  20. TIL the Vikings had a QB named Frank Tarkenton
  21. This actually. We've seen that the dead still do decompose. After the initial crush of millions of dead I wouldn't think that there would be enough living to support a continual flow of new dead to make things like massive hordes. Winter dead freeze, desert dead would almost certainly be desiccated quickly, swampy dead grow things and fall apart. Things like floods, tornados, wildfires, and hurricanes are still happening and with no ability or instinct to seek shelter you lose plenty there. You'd see predation from things like mountain lions, bears, and alligators. We are multiple years into this process at this point. There shouldn't be many dead left at all and yet.
  22. I will remind you all that Nathan Peterman still receives paychecks to be an NFL QB, as does Davis Webb and Alex Tanney and a host of other terrible players none of whom could hold Colin Kaepernick' jock.
  23. Yeah but this is what you need if you ever want to put that number back into the mix. Slap it on somebody nobody gives a damn about, let people see it on the field for a little while and get over the oddness of it, cut the guy then 32 is a more real option for the next guy. I'm 41 years old, I've never seen anyone wear #32. It will be odd the first time, then it will be fine.
