  1. It depends on what you are playing it back through also. On my phone it's laurel, when I heard it on TV later it was Yanny. On the NY Times thing it's Laurel and I need to click right twice to hear Yanny. Oh, and that dress is blue.
  2. Sometimes it's funny what the future holds. Nobody in 1973 thought Pete Rose and OJ Simpson would be radioactive in 2018.
  3. 1. No 2. I feel bad for these people. Nobody grows up saying I want to be a hooker. Often it's their own ****ty choices that get them there but at some point in the past these were little kids drawing pictures with crayons and having dreams for themselves. 3. I'm fascinated at the sums of $22 and $19. What sort of bizarre auction scenario was that to come up with those crazy figures?
  4. As they noted, it's not like he has a lease. Change the locks. I feel for the parents, it has to be terrible to get to that point with your own child and you can see in the letters that they are trying to help him even while they are kicking him out.
  5. Ronald Reagan? Teddy Roosevelt, twice. Kennedy Franklin Roosevelt in 1937
  6. Just before Easter a church near my in laws house has a live action crucifixion reanactment using children on the crosses. They do this in front of the church basically on the side of the road, and the kids take turns on the crosses. Not sure how long they are there but it's not a minute or two.
  7. Let's not use stock market performance as a measure of Presidential competence. History tends to not jive well with the point I think you're trying to make. Id like to make the occasional wager but I'm not interested in getting involved with a bookie. I live 10 minutes from Delaware and have bet there occasionally but I don't like the forced parlay system they have. If PA gets this up and running in a reasonably accessible manner I'll drop a couple bucks. I thought the offshore was already illegal for Americans.
  8. Vacations with you must be interesting.
  9. Nice subtle way to do it without causing damage and without getting caught for awhile is strategic use of fertilizer. You can basically draw or write whatever you want and it will be slightly greener than the area surrounding it and it's only noticeable from above. With all the satellite images these days it's much more effective than it used to be. The Browns have been doing it once a week for years. <rimshot>
  10. They have Hawai'i mapped out into risk zones. Unsurprisingly, the people affected by this are in the top two risk tiers. It's completely irresponsible to even allow home construction in those areas an for a long time you couldn't get certain loans in zones 1 and 2. But in our infinite wisdom we rescinded that rule and more homes have been built in the highest risk lava areas. https://pubs.usgs.gov/mf/1992/2193/mf2193.pdf
  11. Who said I agreed with it? Just trying to have an accurate story told. Story also doesn't say he's not going to be terminated. I'm sure he will, he's likely on leave while due process is ongoing and no, you are right, not everyone in private sector gets that. Just as you are sure there was "collusion" with public unions to protect management, I am sure that this law came about because a School Boards started putting Superintendents on unpaid leave for a stupid reasons in order to de facto fire them when they didn't have actual grounds to fire them per their contract. I'm going to guess it got litigated a bunch of times and it was really expensive and the Districts - which are funded partially by the state - ended up losing, as they should have. The State, in order to not piss away any more money on lawyers to cover for School Boards who were trying to get out of contracts for invalid reasons, set out clear limits on when a School Board can and cannot use unpaid leave. It's easier to blame a union that has nothing to do with it though. I'm sure the local teacher's union will line right up to support management.
  12. He was pooping on a different school district's track, not his own. I missed that on the first read as well.
  13. Yeah, his actual legal trouble is minimal, defecation in public, lewdness which he's probably going to beat, and littering.
  14. He's a Superintendent, it's a non-union job. Read the bottom, it's NJ law that he can't be on unpaid leave in these circumstances, he's not under felony indictment and this isn't a tenure issue.
  15. NJ School Superintendent caught pooping on a neighboring high school's track
  16. Yeah, I thought that was just going to work. My boss is female, 75% of my co-workers are female so maybe I have a different perspective on what work is supposed to be like but if you act like that where I go to work it won't go well for you and it has nothing to do with left, right, or anything else.
  17. I think it's important to note here that he was also untruthful when confronted about allegations and was later found to have been lying. That presumes that there was some sort of evidence to confirm he had in fact lied to the Pegulas in a previous interaction which sets up an entirely new series of fireable offenses. I'm also going to presume that in that previous meeting Russell was warned that any conduct of that nature would not be tolerated. He chose to lie and chose to continue doing what he had been doing. This isn't about the persecution of the American male in the work place, it's about an unethical person who got caught lying to his boss.
  18. They aren't killing them off. They will continue to sell them in Europe and other places just like they always have. If the market changes it's not that big a deal to start bringing them back in.
  19. Flutie had 7 game winning drives in 3 years as a Bill. 3 were in 2000 after he wasn't the starter anymore Taylor had 5 in 3 years as a Bill. Taylor had 13 more career starts so the percentage is in Flutie's favor for sure, but the narrative that Taylor never got it done is false.
  20. A. Having a son with autism has nothing to do with whether or not Flutie was a good QB or not unless unbeknownst to me he strapped his son to his shoulders in some sort of Master Blaster configuration in the 4th quarter of games. B. Johnson stunk too so that's a non-starter of a conversation. Johnson or Flutie? Neither. C. You never actually addressed my initial question which was that if Flutie was that amazing of a QB and the Bills defense was one of the best in the league (which is undoubtedly was) why did the team have to come from behind in the 4th quarter so much? I'll connect those dots for you since it seems to be difficult for you. What I'm getting at is that the offense wasn't very good as Flutie's tenure at QB continued. They didn't score very much, he turned the ball over a lot, and they struggled to move the ball for long periods of time. Going back to my original point, if you loved Doug Flutie you better not have been chasing Tyrod Taylor out the door. Stats per pro-football-reference.com Doug Flutie 1999 - 15 starts 55.2% completion percentage, 19TDs, 16INTs, 3171 yards passing, 476yards rushing, 1 rushing TD, 6 fumbles, 2 game winning drives Tyrod Taylor 2018 - 14 starts 62.6% completion percentage, 14TDs, 4INTs, 2799 yards passing, 427 yards rushing, 4 rushing TDs, 4 fumbles, 2 game winning drives Flutie gets a pass around here that Taylor never got and there's a strong argument to be made that Flutie had a much better team at his disposal. Flutie the myth is a much better football player than the actual Doug Flutie ever was and I think we are far enough removed from the situation that we can all set the rose colored glasses and boxes of cereal down to have a real conversation about that.
  21. Quick question, the Bills defense was among the best in football when Flutie was QBing the Bills. Why were they behind so much?
  22. Anyone who worships at the church of Flutie better have loved them some Tyrod Taylor.
