  1. "don't be dumb, don't be dirty"
  2. In reference to Shaud Williams, without looking back at last year or his size, he actually is a positive for this offense. He didn't fit the 3rd down role that Meathead put him in last year but he definitely will have a larger, change of pace role in this offense. Give the guy credit for making it this far. I am and never been a huge fan of his but he does give this offense another option besides a bulking runner that can run into the line. He has showed that he has the ability to move the chains when in there this preseason.
  3. Now that is funny. Crab man is great!!
  4. 53 Days left, or 52 depending on if you count opening day or not. Regardless, I can't wait either and just wanted to keep the thread going!! On a side note, it's Africa hot here in Orlando and I'm looking forward to some nice early fall weather the weekend of the home opener. 75 and sunny is fine with me.
  5. The way I see, it fits perfectly into the Bills plan this year. Our fast, explosive D-Linemen blowing past the immobile slob that could only block his way to the buffet line should easily help us to sweeping the Felons this year. Their offensive line is obviously in far worse shape than ours is and with Meathead coaching down there, stopping their offensive attack shouldn't be much of a problem for our younger D. Felons on 1st and 10 and their own 33: Culpepper handsoff to Brown to the right and stopped for a loss of 3 after Anderson gets beat cleanly. Felons 2nd and 13 on their own 30: Culpepper hands off to Brown who flips it back to Culpepper who throws incomplete into double coverage with safety help down the left sideline. Felons 3rd and 13 on their own 30: Culpepper hits Chambers on a receiver screen in the right flat for a gain of 2. Felons 4th and 11 on their own 32: Fake punt tackled for a 4 yard loss. Mularkey play calling at it's finest!!
  6. This guy was a pretty good QB coming out of college, IMO. I hope he gets at least a chance to throw some when training cams starts. From the looks of things, with 6 QB's now on the roster, there must be someone in that top 3 mix that isn't impressing the coaches much or they wouldn't be going out and signing a QB every week. I have a feeling it's Holcomb but who knows. Obviously it's not JP according to Sullivan. I am guessing that when Marv and Dick said they were going to have competition at the QB spot, they weren't kidding.
  7. I've been reading so many Willis bashing posts or posts questioning Willis' heart and desire to play football in Buffalo and I really have to wonder if anyone remembers a guy named Bruce. He was pretty much the same exact way in regards to showing up for anything prior to game 1. I am not sticking up for Willis' behavior or lack of desire to participate in any OTA's with the team but when the whistle blows and it's time to step onto the turf, I am pretty sure that #21 will be there ready to take the ball and put his head into an opposing players chest. Willis showed last year, that he will play his heart out even when the team and coaching staff is crumbling around him. IMO, there is nothing from last years team that should even be compared with this years team because you are comparing apples and orange Volkswagons. The coaching staff completely lost that team and every player, good or bad, was a direct reflection of it. Lets see what Willis and every other member of the "new" Bills do during camp, preseason and the first couple games before we start saying they have no heart or desire to play for the Buffalo Bills.
  8. I noticed that you posted this at 4:06AM. I guess Dylan was up looking for some food huh? Onto the topic, I had season tickets in N2 or N3, can't remember which or if it was both but I loved being in the upper deck. I believe it was row 5 or 7 which doesn't require to much climbing if you've spent a little to much time tailgating. Personally, I think just about any seat at the Ralph is a great seat. I've sat in both endzones, both sides fo the upper deck, in the corners and in a box and everyone seat has pretty good sight lines and the atmosphere is electric. Just being there for a game is a great time. I miss my season tickets.
  9. I think it's hard to say which End is better until we see them play in this new defense. With the supposed new aggresive attacking style that Fewell is coming in with, it might actually make a playmaker out of both Kelsay and Denney, depending on who wins out in camp and how the rotation works out. Under Gray, it seemed that the LDE would hold up at the point of attack, allowing for Posey (or whoever) to do the attacking, which obviously didn't work out. I don't think our problem is necessarily at LDE as much as it might be at LOLB. When Posey did attack the line, he got eaten alive by the RT's, no matter how bad they sucked. He lacks a "move" to free himself from offensive linemen, which in turn allows the line to slide and protect against the LDE's or tackles trying to penetrate. Once the new scheme is in place, hopefully the talents of the players will be better utilized than they were under Gray. Sure, the Bills had a decent defense, statistically, for a couple years, but when it came down to making plays, creating turnovers or ending drives, they were nowhere to be found.
  10. I almost pissed myself reading this!!
  11. Would love to see them at a Dyngus day party sometime!! WOWZA!!!
  12. DO we really have to beat this dead horse any more? Granted, the Bills O-Line last year did nothing to wow anyone, but neither did their running game, passing game, run defense, pass defense, 3rd down defense or any other offensive or defensive gameplan for that matter. The only thing that was decent on that team was the Special Teams and that coach, ironically, was one of the few that is left over from MM's coaching staff. (note sarcasm) Personally, I think the woes of the Offensive Line had more to do with the system, or lack thereof, than the actual talent level on the line. Sure, Teague was a liability against a bull rush up the middle and that problem has been addressed and M. Williams, when in there, wasn't effective at all, which also has been addressed. Hopefully, with a new offensive system in place, a few new faces in the middle of the line, they might actually be able to open holes for Willis and create a "POCKET" (which I don't think Mularkey wanted to see for the line, IMO) for JP or whoever to stand behind. There were to many times last year that us Bills fans were probably scratching our heads and wondering why the protection broke down or why the holes didn't open which all has a direct correllation to the play calling and lack of offensive identity that the Bills positively lacked!!
  13. I just can't see the Bills even considering this. First of all, the Bills technically already have 5 QB's on their roster if you count Ochs and Woodbury. Granted, McNair has by far more experience than any of them but with experience you get someone who is OLDER. Second, the Bills, in case no one noticed, are developing a team based on youth. If you start looking at the average age of the potential 53 man roster, they are going to be considerably younger than last years team and probably in the bottom third of the league in terms of age. Third, how much money is SM going to be looking for? There are going to be teams out there that are in a bit more of a desperate need for a QB that are willing to pony up much more money than the Bills are willing to. Sure, McNair has had some good years and does bring alot of experience to the table but the Bills are building to win with youth and desire and not with so called "name" players. Just my opinion from what I've noticed with all the signings and drafting going on at OBD.
  14. The A-Train signing is actually a pretty good signing IF he makes the team and can handle 7-10 carries a game or more depending on the situation. Nothing against Shaud Williams but when given the chance last year to get some carries for WM, he didn't get it done. Granted, the offensive (both from the Offensive point of view and Offensive as in stinking) play calling was horrible and SW wasn't used properly when given the chance. I do recall a couple games where WM was taken out on 3rd and short and SW was brought in. MM called a draw or delay to SW which was stuffed for a loss, which I think anyone watching the game knew that MM was calling that play instead of maybe using SW on a swing pass or something better suited for him. Regardless, SW isn't going to be an every down back if WM goes down for half a game or longer and the Bills went out and signed at least someone who will compete for the spot as the primary backup to WM. Sure, Gates is on the roster and will also be competing but AT does have experience and training camp competition never hurts.
  15. Ramius, you are exactly right about the talking heads drooling throughout both days of the draft about the USC players. They even were oogling over the 6th/7th round lineman that was taken. If they spent more time discussing team needs and less time discussing the marquee names, they might have been a bit more informative. Mark, you couldn't have been more correct with your post. ESPN, IMO, has lost a ton of credibility over the years with their draft analysis. They tend to hype a certain number of players, probably for ratings sake, than actually discuss why certain teams draft who they do. Any one of the talking heads on ESPN could have discussed the fact that the defensive back position in todays NFL is probably the most coveted positions for top of the line players. If you have a shot at getting a very good DB in the draft, get him, because odds are that you won't be able to afford one in free agency. this is a HUGE point that I think a lot of people have overlooked with the way the Bills drafted. Probably the second most coveted position teams are looking at is quality DLinemen that can step in and play. You get your moneys worth out of those two positions more than any other position, IMO.
  16. Everyone seems to be thinking that Reyes would be taking over for Anderson but IMO, Villarial might be the one losing out here. He had a rough year last year and was brought in prior to McNally. Mouse might be trying to form his own style line and CV might be the odd man out here, since I believe he is the only OLineman left prior to McNally joining the staff. Just a thought, plus his cap number actually gives the Bills a bit more flexibility down the road if he is cut somewhere along the way here. I still believe the Bills go Defense with the first pick unless D'Brick is there, then look to the OL in round two and/or three.
  17. My guess would be either Jerome Brown or Reggie Rogers but Rogers was already gone. Good question though. Heres a list of the 1st round in 1987: Round 1 1. Tampa Bay - Vinny Testaverde, QB Miami 2. Indianapolis - Cornelius Bennett, OLB Alabama 3. Houston - Alonzo Highsmith, RB Miami 4. Green Bay - Brent Fullwood, RB Auburn 5. Cleveland - Mike Junkin, ILB Duke 6. St. Louis - Kelly Stouffer, QB Colorado State 7. Detroit - Reggie Rogers, DE Washington 8. Buffalo - Shane Conlan, MLB Penn State 9. Philadelphia - Jerome Brown, DT Miami 10. Pittsburgh - Rod Woodson, FS Purdue 11. New Orleans - Shawn Knight, NT Brigham Young 12. Dallas - Danny Noonan, DT Nebraska 13. Atlanta - Chris Miller, QB Oregon 14. Minnesota - D.J. Dozier, RB Penn State 15. L.A. Raiders - John Clay, T Missouri 16. Miami - John Bosa, DE Boston College 17. Cincinnati - Jason Buck, DE Brigham Young 18. Seattle - Tony Woods, DE Pittsburgh 19. Kansas City - Paul Palmer, RB Temple 20. Houston - Haywood Jeffires, WR North Carolina State 21. N.Y. Jets - Roger Vick, RB Texas A&M 22. San Francisco - Harris Barton, T North Carolina 23. New England - Bruce Armstrong, T Louisville 24. San Diego - Rod Bernstine, RB Texas A&M 25. San Francisco - Terrence Flagler, RB Clemson 26. Chicago - Jim Harbaugh, QB Michigan 27. Denver - Ricky Nattiel, WR Florida 28. N.Y. Giants - Mark Ingram, WR Michigan State
  18. I was thinking the same thing, what did you say? Your avatar has me focused elsewhere.
  19. Thanks for the update. I saw him play several times and he has to be one of the toughest quarterbacks, with no disrespect to Jimbo, that I have ever seen. RS seemed to take a beating every time he stepped onto the field, considering that the Knights ran a version of a spread offense with not always the best line blocking available. I hope he does well in Arena 2 and hopefully he might consider trying out for an NFL team one of these days. He seemed to have a lot of potential but screwed himself with that incident towards the end of his senior year. I don't remember exactly what transpired but I know there were several players involved and I believe it also was the end of Kruceks coaching there. He is now with the Cardinals as the QB coach I believe. Anyway, good luck to Ryan. I personally thought that he was a better QB than Daunte but didn't have the running game that Daunte had.
  20. Being a UCF fan, one of the few but one nonetheless, Schneider is (was) a pretty good QB. Where is he now? When he was playing prior to getting booted, he was piling up some prety good numbers and there was talk in the local fish wrap (Orlando Sentinel) that he actually might get drafted on the 2nd day in the 2004 (I think) draft.
  21. I can't see this being anything but a decent move. If you look at all the experience, or lack thereof, on the Bills receiver squad, this is a very good move to create competition. Sure PP had his ups and downs here then plenty of downs everywhere else, but bringing in a guy with something to prove is never a bad idea. It doesn't always work but it's worth the shot. I say welcome back Peerless and lets hope that he still has something left in the tank. On a side note, if you look at the offense that Fairchild used in St. Louis, there were numerous times that they used a 4 receiver set to create mismatches against defenses with pretty good success. Sure they had Holt and Bruce but Curtis, Looker and even McDonald were all integral parts of that offense.
  22. Good points. It was just a thought. I believe somehow that the Bills will make a deal on Day 1 of the draft but it might not be for #1 overall but it wouldn't surprise me to see them try and get up to get D'Brick.
  23. I have a thought about this quote by Marv and the fact that there aren't that many big money free agent linemen left. Is it possible, that the Bills and Texans somehow have discussed a first round trade and the Bills moving up and taking D'Brick? The Bills will need quite a bit of cap space to sign a #1 overall pick and the fact that Moulds went to the Texans for a 5th inclines me to think that maybe there might be more to that trade than what's on paper. Is it possible that there is some sort of "gentlemen's agreement" here? Just a thought. For some reason, I think that Marv and the Houston GM, can't think of his name off hand, have some background together but I'm not positive.
  24. I would have to give Marv a B+ also considering what he has done to try to "right the ship" so to speak. Sure, he hasn't gone out and signed any BIG name players with BIG contracts that follow but he has added some depth and decent quality to some positions. With this team on the verge of imploading, based on what we saw from the players last year, I think Marv has done a very nice job of eliminating locker room dissention and brought in the type of players that are hungry for the chance to play and prove their worth. This grade also could change drastically in the next few weeks, once the draft is over, for either the good or bad, but my hunch is that Marv is a pretty smart guy and knows what types of football players he wants on this team.
  25. As much as I hate the fish, I voted for them in this poll. It doesn't mean I'm rooting for them but considering the circumstances, I would rather see them beat the Jests and leave them 0-2. The fish still don't worry me even if they were 2-0 at this point in the season but we all know that losing a bunch of the first games, especially conference games, will haunt the Jests all year. The fish still do suck and they will lose their share of games this year.
