What I see here is not just inconsistent player effort or insufficient talent but insufficient coaching capacity for creative game planning. It seems like they can put together a great game plan if they have a really long time to ramp up and focus on an opponent, but they are almost like skipping an entire week or two of opponents with very little opponent specific planning., throwing a generic script together, while either putting in less effort or starting work on a future opponent instead.
Is this because there is a bottleneck and only a few people are contributing to or are overly controlling and can't keep up with the higher level game planning? Or if it's just a few, are they incapable in terms of creativity rather than time & effort. Or is it intentional to keep the offense simple throughout the regular season?
Or everyone is working together and contributing but they just don't have enough talent in the building? Or is it simply humanly impossible for a finite number of people to do the perfect game plan every single week for 17 weeks in this league, so parity will always bite any team?
Same thing with the run game creativity vs. pass game creativity. You can see very clearly that there is more time on task with the run game. Why can't we have an offense that does both well? It's not just the players, it's lack of time on task, scheming and practicing the pass game this year.
