Buffalo Bills QB Tyree Jackson, RB LeSean McCoy, WR Ray-Ray McCloud, CB Captain Munnerlyn, S Kurt Coleman http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001045786/article/cuts-tracker-nfl-teams-finalize-53player-rosters

Yea, freudian slip I suppose...I really meant is. I think he still on an elite level above other RB's with his shiftiness and speed. Kinda tough to make three guys miss getting to the LoS or getting hit as soon as he touched the ball in last years offense. Opposing teams knew that McCoy was the Bills best player on offense so they would go all out to stop him. Last years offense really had no other weapon even close to his ability. ...and they still might not. Time will tell. I sure hope Singletary shows more than he did in preseason.
-
Really hope this move doesn't come back to bite them in the a$$. Shady was an elite back in the NFL and Singletary hasn't proven a thing as the starting NFL RB yet. Even Todd Gurley had a down year behind a bad line in 2016 and yet that line was no where near as bad as the Bills line was last season. 6-10 was a gift with a revolving door at QB half the year. We will see...Beane may lose his god status...or Bills fans might be saying god a lot this year and it won't be with Beane. Like GDamn, Gdammit, for the love of God...
-
I really liked McCoy and think he had a shot to rebound this season after playing behind last years craptastic line.
-
I wanted to draft him and someone got him one spot before me, so I drafted Singletary!

The very best part of Brandon Beane being the GM of the Buffalo Bills... IS... that Ralph Wilson is no longer the owner of the Buffalo Bills!!! As he can't fire the guy...can't get into an argument with him...won't let another team out bid him for* Beane's services. The past owner won't screw this one up, this time! Wilson let Chuck Knox walk Seattle because he wanted more money... as Knox had transformed a bottom of the barrel losing team into a playoff contender. What had been the city of jokes from late night talk shows about the smelly steel town of Buffalo with the yellow air, the love canal, the hella bad show storms in winter with the smallest TV market with one of the worst losing teams in the NFL. The team was winning again and Wilson had no need for Knox being one of the highest paid head coaches, so he let him walk away. Chuck Knox had made the city of Buffalo relevant again in the NFL as they hadn't beaten Don *Shula's Miami Dolphins once in the entire decade of the 1970's! Yeah, ten years! This was the beginning of the "talking proud" campaign of the 1980's as the Bills winning inspired people to start feeling good about living in Buffalo! Knox, believe it or not was a direct connection as to why Bill Polian was hired by the Buffalo Bills in the first place. Polian would go on to build a four time world champion contender in Buffalo until he got into a fight with the owner...who then fired him. Polian went on to build a super bowl contender in Carolina and Indianapolis which actually won a SB. Gotta love Beane and what he has done to the Buffalo Bills! Gotta love the Pegula's for what they have done for the Buffalo Bills and the city of Buffalo, the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bandits, Rochester Americans, the Buffalo Beauts, the Rochester Knighthawks. I think this time around things might be different.
-
I really question this simply because he graded as the Bills best linemen in the last half of the 2018 season. He had the fewest penalties (5) and didn't allow a sack! Only allowed 8 pressures on 476 snaps. I really liked the kids tenacity and toughness. Granted that line stunk... he had a better grade then Dion Dawkins. Perhaps others were probably more versatile at this point to let him go. The Browns are looking to start him at right guard. We"ll see at the end of the season as I hope Beane didn't get some bad advice from his offensive coaches.

Is anybody else having anxiety about game one?

I suspect calling other posters a derogatory name is what got the OP a warning and that combined with the negativity is what got the thread locked. Bills fans should be concerned about the team in the opener as it will have impact for both teams. Although the jets have been trending upward to most observers this preseason. I have to look at their HC's history and know he is new to the Jets as is the entire coaching staff. To me, the Jets have more concerns over several position groups than the Buffalo Bills have and they have a really good known coaching staff. I think the game will come down to who can run the ball more effectively and who can stop the run. Looking at that third preseason game it leads me to think the Bills want to pound the rock and play great defense. Currently Buffalo is a 3.5 point underdog. Saying that I think the Bills will play better as an underdog. -
Ed Oliver doesn't look very good
Nihilarian replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rex Ryan was a moron with a one trick pony defensive scheme. He was correct though as Darnold was too small, undersized for the defense Ryan wanted to run. Let's not forget what Ryan did to the best pass rushing D line in the league in Buffalo. Instead of asking the best pass rushers in the league to actually pass rush... as he would prefer his D linemen to stay in a small spot, to take on and hold up the O line player in front of them so that the LBers could make the play. (never mind that the LBers weren't that good) Or ask them to drop into pass coverage. There are real reasons as to why Rex is out of the NFL and his brother Rob who was a DC for the longest time is now inside linebackers coach at Washington. The NFL has passed them by... -
Ed Oliver doesn't look very good

Don't hold your breath waiting for this to happen Ed Oliver was graded as a top five pick in this years draft and fell to the Bills at #9 because the Giants and Raiders picked flyers. That said, yes, the kid is somewhat undersized to play DT at 6'2'' 287lbs in comparison to most NFL DTs. However, the very best DT in the league is Aaron Donald who is 6'1'' 280lbs...who runs a 4.6 40. Oliver is slightly slower at 4.75 which is still blazing for a guy that big. I watched the kid and he is at times getting double teamed and also at times getting engulfed by massive O linemen. If teams are already doubling the kid it means that they already have great respect for what he can do. He is a rookie and is learning the NFL ropes while he plays. Oliver is a pass rusher and a beast. Just get a listen to what the Buffalo Bills offensive line players are saying about him is that he creates havoc all the time and they hate to go against him as he makes them look bad. The thing is, that even Aaron Donald can look invisible at times. Donald was double, triple teamed in the super bowl by a very good Patriots O line and only got one hit on Brady all game. This from a player that got 20.5 sacks, 41 QB hits in 2018. It may take a few games but I suspect that once the Buffalo defense gets settled in what they can do that Oliver will be a very disruptive force this season. -
I agree AND whats more is this GM, scouting staff have shown they know how to identify elite talent in the draft. So, instead of perhaps overpaying for a guy who may end up like Dareus/A Brown with his foot/helmet issues or any number of players who get that big pay day and turn somewhat invisible. I'd rather not see this team go that route. I think it was a blessing that Brown chose not to come here. Don't know that this years offense would be ready to utilize him properly just yet...besides all the baggage the guy brings. BTW, I'd rather the team keep McCoy who is still a special talent in my view.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/08/13/jadeveon-clowney-trade-wont-be-easy-to-pull-off/ Anyone trading for Clowney would be getting his services for one year, with no ability to sign him to an extension until after the regular season ends. At that point, Clowney would have the leverage of a 20-percent raise over his 2019 salary, whether it’s $15.967 million or, if his grievance regarding his alleged status as a defensive end is successful, $17.128 million. That equates to either $19.16 million or $20.55 million for 2020, either of which becomes the starting point for negotiations on a long-term deal. So what would a team, assuming it has the cap space to absorb Clowney’s contract, give up in order to get Clowney for one year? And what would the Texans want to part with the rights to Clowney for 2019 plus the ability to franchise-tag him in 2020, sign him to a long-term deal, or let him walk in free agency with a compensatory draft pick arriving in 2021?

This really sucks for Frank Reich as I doubt he takes the job without Luck at QB. Might be a reason as to why Josh McDaniel's didn't take the job for the Colts. But then again their owner might be another reason... Luck played behind crappy lines for years and now when he has one of the best lines he quits... Kinda shocking as he is only 29...and we still have Brady in his 40's...

Mario was ruined by Rex Ryan who had him taking on 300lb plus offensive linemen so the crappy Bills linebackers could make a play...or dropping into pass coverage. Instead of rushing the QB which is what he was initially brought in to do. Mario had 10.5 sacks his first season in 2012 under Curtis Modkins. 13 sacks in 2013 under Mike Pettine. Then 14.5 sacks in 2014 under Jim Schwartz. In Rex Ryan's moronic scheme the next season his sacks dropped to 5.0. Even Curtis Modkins got 10 sacks out of him and his defenses were in the 20's. Mario Williams made the pro bowl and was an all pro for Buffalo under Schwartz. He earned his money when he had the right coach. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 3
Nihilarian replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. Also, as mentioned I think field position had a lot to do with how the offensive game plan developed. What was most important to me was to see that 2 min drive at the end of the half and it looked so good to see them move the ball like that. I'm not as worried about Allen as others seem to be. The only thing that really bothered me about the game was the way Stafford was able to move the ball in the air so easily 12/19 for 137 yards, 1 TD in a little over a quarter. -
Would you trade a 1 for Zeke?

2016, 15 games, 322 carries 2017, 10 games, 242 carries 2018, 15 games, 304 carries This behind one of the very best offensive lines in the NFL with three pro bowl, all pro players on that line. He was also their leading receiver last year with 77 receptions. -
Just my opinion as I think the Bills go on a tear after that Turkey day nationwide viewing loss to the Cowboys. Both Brady and Big Ben announce their retirement at the end of this season as that top 3 Buffalo Bills defense beats them down.

I'll have more perspective of how the season will go after they play the last preseason game as I have questions about the current offensive line. They are not going to have much continuity if Morse doesn't see some action soon. Then, who is to say if he can even hold up for the entire season? In any event even without Morse at center the line looks to be much improved overall. Another reason I raise some speculation is because the Jets defensive line gave the Falcons fits with Matt Ryan yelling at his line to give him more time this week. If the Bills O line isn't stable that first week it could be a big problem for the Bills offense. Plus, can the Bills defensive stop le'Veon Bell? I can recall last season the Bills D had some trouble stopping the run. This last question has some great concern because the Bills play against some really good RBs/running teams in the first few games Jets, Giants, Bengals, Patriots, Titans. Not to mention that Jets QB Sam Darnold has looked darn sharp in his two preseason games. So far the Bills defense has looked great against the Colts, Panthers. But that was without Andrew Luck and Cam Newton along with key Panther offensive/defensive players. It's nice to have a good feeling about winning games...but alas it's only preseason, which is meaningless. That season opener at the NY Jets will have a major impact on how the season will go for this years team. So many questions.

Think I read that Long was playing RG, Ford at RT. Might be why Nsekhe wasn't happy about the situation. Anyway, looks like Feliciano will be the backup center too... Bodine https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2019/8/14/20805902/nothing-there-between-buffalo-bills-and-houston-texans-on-jadeveon-clowney-per-reports-rumors Tim Graham of The Athletic reported that a team source told him “Nothing there.” NFL Network’s Mike Garafalo echoed Graham. For John Wawrow of The Associated Press, it was an “LOL”. Reporter and radio host Benjamin Allbright was in agreement with the others. He did mention that, per his sources, the Bills were one of a half dozen teams to make an inquiry with the Texansabout Clowney, but stressed that nothing was imminent. -
Geez, from that link! "Anyone trading for Clowney would be getting his services for one year, with no ability to sign him to an extension until after the regular season ends. No thanks!

If anyone was brought back it was by Beane who is the GM and responsible for the scouting staff, not McD. This is a brand new HC and he is learning as he goes. Being a first time NFL HC, he doesn't know what he doesn't know! Be happy that this HC recognized a wrong personnel decision and corrected it. Some of the coaches he hired came with some really quality resumes of past NFL experience. The NFL is a results business that requires good results and this HC demands an assistant coach get positive results to keep his job. That's a great thing! Hey, I don't know if McD has the wherewithal to be guy who can beat Bill Belichick on a regular basis like Marv levy did against Don Shula. But I think he has a earned a few more years to show that he can simply by getting this team to the playoffs in his first season. A 9-7 season with Tyrod Taylor at QB!!!...a guy who got one win for Cleveland in 3 tries and was promptly replaced. McD had a rookie QB last season along with some backups who had about a week or so to prepare to start. Speaking of that, the QBs in the draft who were noted to be more polished and ready to start in the NFL. The #1 overall pick at QB in Baker Mayfield only won one game more at 7-8-1. The QB selected #3 overall took his team to a 4-12 record and was on pace to break the rookie interception record before being injured for 3 games. Most of this board wanted the Bills to draft Josh Rosen "the chosen" to be their QB and wanted Beane to trade away the farm in that years draft along with the 2019 first round pick to move up to the #2 with the NY Giants to draft Rosen, who went 3-10 with Arizona. Lighten up, as this years team might surprise.

Geez, the guy Oliver was going against is an all pro, pro bowl graded as one of the very best OGs in the NFL and he held his own. Other critics have said he graded well against the Colts. As far as that Zay Jones pass/drop goes. Might have been the sun in his eyes, might have been alligator arms, might have known he was going to get hit and protected himself in first instinct. All I know is a top receiver catches that ball, period!

Jeez, I think this FO has shown that they can identify elite talent in the draft. So, to me, it makes little sense to go after an elite high dollar run defender vs an elite pass rusher like Mack. Mack was worth the money and draft picks. JMO I kinda hope the Dolphins do trade for him and give up the farm. They had Suh and it got them nowhere...on that thought the Bills had the #4 overall defense, the #1 pass rush in the NFL in 2014 and it got them to 9-7, which was second in the AFC East behind the 12-4 Patriots. At this point I'm glad the Bills didn't sign Brown with his foot/helmet issues. Build through the draft.
