  1. We can revisit this thread after week one if the current RB's can't get it done. Gore is a pounder. Singletary is elusive but slow at 4.66 as he is only .4 tenths faster then Ed Oliver at DT. Yeldon, will he fumble? Can't complain about the O line this year, it's either the offensive play calls, the RB's or everything works.
  2. Is Beane a GOD? He has done well with some things and not so well with others. All glory is fleeting... if this McCoy move to Singletary doesn't work out...Bills fans will be saying GOD with his name.
  3. Bills coaches told Lynch to hit the hole faster...like there was a hole that lasted more than a split second most of the time. I can recall the guy making his yards in Buffalo carrying two defenders on him. Freddy Jackson was more elusive and usually made that first guy miss. Spiller looked to be most effective getting the hand off in a spread 5 wide shotgun set with the defense thinking pass. The Buffalo Bills haven't had a complete offensive line since the 90's and even then that line didn't rival the Bills lines of the Champion years of the 60's. Even perhaps OJ's, Electric Company lines were pretty darn good. Going back to the topic at hand I gotta think last years offensive line had to be one of the worst ever in Buffalo history, and man they have had some bad lines!! This preseason the Bills still haven't fielded a line as good as what we should see opening day...and yet I don't see the new kid coming even close to what McCoy has done previous to last season. But hey, perhaps that's just me!
  4. Look at the RB's the Bills have moved on from ...Antowain Smith went from Buffalo to NE where he won a SB. Marshawn Lynch went from Buffalo to Seattle where he won a SB. McGahee went on to Baltimore and Denver and to the playoffs with both teams. Like I said, I really, really hope this works out...or McD/Beane might be looking at a new offensive coaching staff next year. Maybe even a new HC. I like McD, but man, Peterman and now this.
  5. Singletary was a very elusive RB with "rare" ability to make others miss at Florida Atlantic... Yet he clocked 4.66 at the combine. I can tell you right now that McCoy is faster and from what I saw and more elusive this preseason. I didn't see that McCoy has CLEARLY lost anything. Hey man, I'm really hoping that the Bills made the right decision on this but i just don't see it. Brian Daboll has yet to field a better than 20th ranked offense in his four stints as an NFL OC. I don't think the Chiefs see it either as they gave him a 4 mill contract with 3 mill guaranteed, which I highly doubt they do if they think he has lost a step! the Chargers made the same offer and Shady went with Andy Reid whom he played for at Philly.
  6. Go back and watch that third preseason game as that third game is usually the precursor for the season. The Bills came out running and continued to run it with the starters out there. In my view this is what the team wants to do is run first to take all the load off the QB. Now, what if the Bills can't run so well with the current players? Despite having a much improved offensive line. All of a sudden that run the ball game plan goes out the window and all the pressure to make plays is on the QB ...AGAIN! Bills fans on the board like Bado, GunnerBill have been saying watch out this season as it won't be that good as a lot of fans think. I was in the boat thinking a 10-6 or better. Now I'm thinking it might be difficult for an 8-8 season. This team needs a feature back more then most realize I think and man 0 man, I hope Shady doesn't end up in NE catching the ball out of the backfield for Brady. Or the could get to their fourth straight SB and win it. I... have... no... faith... in... this... offensive... coaching... staff!!!! Sadly, I see all it too... I was hoping for big things for this years offense... now not so much.
  7. If you go back to 2017 with Eric Wood and Richie Incognito on the line LeSean McCoy was the leading rusher AND the leading receiver with nearly 1600 combined yards with 287 carries, 59 receptions. Even with Wood and Incognito that line still had Mills, Ducasse, Miller and really didn't rank all that high. Fast forward to 2018 with McCoy getting 161 attempts, 34 receptions and usually always throwing to catch up from being behind in points and even then the team didn't target McCoy very often. McCoy still had a 73.9 catch percentage with was best among all Bills receivers with more then 10 receptions. This behind one of the worst O lines in the league. The only thing I can think of is that the Bills want to give Singletary every chance to show he can do in the NFL want he did in college. After what he did in the preseason I just don't see him being as elusive or as fast as McCoy. I seem to be in the minority on this. I only hope this offensive coaching staff knows what they are doing or this season could flush rather quickly.
  8. Buffalo Bills QB Tyree Jackson, RB LeSean McCoy, WR Ray-Ray McCloud, CB Captain Munnerlyn, S Kurt Coleman http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001045786/article/cuts-tracker-nfl-teams-finalize-53player-rosters
  9. Yea, freudian slip I suppose...I really meant is. I think he still on an elite level above other RB's with his shiftiness and speed. Kinda tough to make three guys miss getting to the LoS or getting hit as soon as he touched the ball in last years offense. Opposing teams knew that McCoy was the Bills best player on offense so they would go all out to stop him. Last years offense really had no other weapon even close to his ability. ...and they still might not. Time will tell. I sure hope Singletary shows more than he did in preseason.
  10. Really hope this move doesn't come back to bite them in the a$$. Shady was an elite back in the NFL and Singletary hasn't proven a thing as the starting NFL RB yet. Even Todd Gurley had a down year behind a bad line in 2016 and yet that line was no where near as bad as the Bills line was last season. 6-10 was a gift with a revolving door at QB half the year. We will see...Beane may lose his god status...or Bills fans might be saying god a lot this year and it won't be with Beane. Like GDamn, Gdammit, for the love of God...
  11. I really liked McCoy and think he had a shot to rebound this season after playing behind last years craptastic line.
  12. I wanted to draft him and someone got him one spot before me, so I drafted Singletary!
  13. The very best part of Brandon Beane being the GM of the Buffalo Bills... IS... that Ralph Wilson is no longer the owner of the Buffalo Bills!!! As he can't fire the guy...can't get into an argument with him...won't let another team out bid him for* Beane's services. The past owner won't screw this one up, this time! Wilson let Chuck Knox walk Seattle because he wanted more money... as Knox had transformed a bottom of the barrel losing team into a playoff contender. What had been the city of jokes from late night talk shows about the smelly steel town of Buffalo with the yellow air, the love canal, the hella bad show storms in winter with the smallest TV market with one of the worst losing teams in the NFL. The team was winning again and Wilson had no need for Knox being one of the highest paid head coaches, so he let him walk away. Chuck Knox had made the city of Buffalo relevant again in the NFL as they hadn't beaten Don *Shula's Miami Dolphins once in the entire decade of the 1970's! Yeah, ten years! This was the beginning of the "talking proud" campaign of the 1980's as the Bills winning inspired people to start feeling good about living in Buffalo! Knox, believe it or not was a direct connection as to why Bill Polian was hired by the Buffalo Bills in the first place. Polian would go on to build a four time world champion contender in Buffalo until he got into a fight with the owner...who then fired him. Polian went on to build a super bowl contender in Carolina and Indianapolis which actually won a SB. Gotta love Beane and what he has done to the Buffalo Bills! Gotta love the Pegula's for what they have done for the Buffalo Bills and the city of Buffalo, the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bandits, Rochester Americans, the Buffalo Beauts, the Rochester Knighthawks. I think this time around things might be different.
  14. I really question this simply because he graded as the Bills best linemen in the last half of the 2018 season. He had the fewest penalties (5) and didn't allow a sack! Only allowed 8 pressures on 476 snaps. I really liked the kids tenacity and toughness. Granted that line stunk... he had a better grade then Dion Dawkins. Perhaps others were probably more versatile at this point to let him go. The Browns are looking to start him at right guard. We"ll see at the end of the season as I hope Beane didn't get some bad advice from his offensive coaches.
  15. I suspect calling other posters a derogatory name is what got the OP a warning and that combined with the negativity is what got the thread locked. Bills fans should be concerned about the team in the opener as it will have impact for both teams. Although the jets have been trending upward to most observers this preseason. I have to look at their HC's history and know he is new to the Jets as is the entire coaching staff. To me, the Jets have more concerns over several position groups than the Buffalo Bills have and they have a really good known coaching staff. I think the game will come down to who can run the ball more effectively and who can stop the run. Looking at that third preseason game it leads me to think the Bills want to pound the rock and play great defense. Currently Buffalo is a 3.5 point underdog. Saying that I think the Bills will play better as an underdog.
  16. Rex Ryan was a moron with a one trick pony defensive scheme. He was correct though as Darnold was too small, undersized for the defense Ryan wanted to run. Let's not forget what Ryan did to the best pass rushing D line in the league in Buffalo. Instead of asking the best pass rushers in the league to actually pass rush... as he would prefer his D linemen to stay in a small spot, to take on and hold up the O line player in front of them so that the LBers could make the play. (never mind that the LBers weren't that good) Or ask them to drop into pass coverage. There are real reasons as to why Rex is out of the NFL and his brother Rob who was a DC for the longest time is now inside linebackers coach at Washington. The NFL has passed them by...
  17. Don't hold your breath waiting for this to happen Ed Oliver was graded as a top five pick in this years draft and fell to the Bills at #9 because the Giants and Raiders picked flyers. That said, yes, the kid is somewhat undersized to play DT at 6'2'' 287lbs in comparison to most NFL DTs. However, the very best DT in the league is Aaron Donald who is 6'1'' 280lbs...who runs a 4.6 40. Oliver is slightly slower at 4.75 which is still blazing for a guy that big. I watched the kid and he is at times getting double teamed and also at times getting engulfed by massive O linemen. If teams are already doubling the kid it means that they already have great respect for what he can do. He is a rookie and is learning the NFL ropes while he plays. Oliver is a pass rusher and a beast. Just get a listen to what the Buffalo Bills offensive line players are saying about him is that he creates havoc all the time and they hate to go against him as he makes them look bad. The thing is, that even Aaron Donald can look invisible at times. Donald was double, triple teamed in the super bowl by a very good Patriots O line and only got one hit on Brady all game. This from a player that got 20.5 sacks, 41 QB hits in 2018. It may take a few games but I suspect that once the Buffalo defense gets settled in what they can do that Oliver will be a very disruptive force this season.
  18. I agree AND whats more is this GM, scouting staff have shown they know how to identify elite talent in the draft. So, instead of perhaps overpaying for a guy who may end up like Dareus/A Brown with his foot/helmet issues or any number of players who get that big pay day and turn somewhat invisible. I'd rather not see this team go that route. I think it was a blessing that Brown chose not to come here. Don't know that this years offense would be ready to utilize him properly just yet...besides all the baggage the guy brings. BTW, I'd rather the team keep McCoy who is still a special talent in my view.
  19. What? Clowney not in Buffalo yet? where is da Jet?
  20. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/08/13/jadeveon-clowney-trade-wont-be-easy-to-pull-off/ Anyone trading for Clowney would be getting his services for one year, with no ability to sign him to an extension until after the regular season ends. At that point, Clowney would have the leverage of a 20-percent raise over his 2019 salary, whether it’s $15.967 million or, if his grievance regarding his alleged status as a defensive end is successful, $17.128 million. That equates to either $19.16 million or $20.55 million for 2020, either of which becomes the starting point for negotiations on a long-term deal. So what would a team, assuming it has the cap space to absorb Clowney’s contract, give up in order to get Clowney for one year? And what would the Texans want to part with the rights to Clowney for 2019 plus the ability to franchise-tag him in 2020, sign him to a long-term deal, or let him walk in free agency with a compensatory draft pick arriving in 2021?
  21. Maybe why Zay Jones was still playing after the half or why Robert Foster was playing special teams. I thought that Clowney had turned down going to Miami?
  22. This really sucks for Frank Reich as I doubt he takes the job without Luck at QB. Might be a reason as to why Josh McDaniel's didn't take the job for the Colts. But then again their owner might be another reason... Luck played behind crappy lines for years and now when he has one of the best lines he quits... Kinda shocking as he is only 29...and we still have Brady in his 40's...
  23. Mario was ruined by Rex Ryan who had him taking on 300lb plus offensive linemen so the crappy Bills linebackers could make a play...or dropping into pass coverage. Instead of rushing the QB which is what he was initially brought in to do. Mario had 10.5 sacks his first season in 2012 under Curtis Modkins. 13 sacks in 2013 under Mike Pettine. Then 14.5 sacks in 2014 under Jim Schwartz. In Rex Ryan's moronic scheme the next season his sacks dropped to 5.0. Even Curtis Modkins got 10 sacks out of him and his defenses were in the 20's. Mario Williams made the pro bowl and was an all pro for Buffalo under Schwartz. He earned his money when he had the right coach.
  24. I agree. Also, as mentioned I think field position had a lot to do with how the offensive game plan developed. What was most important to me was to see that 2 min drive at the end of the half and it looked so good to see them move the ball like that. I'm not as worried about Allen as others seem to be. The only thing that really bothered me about the game was the way Stafford was able to move the ball in the air so easily 12/19 for 137 yards, 1 TD in a little over a quarter.
  25. 2016, 15 games, 322 carries 2017, 10 games, 242 carries 2018, 15 games, 304 carries This behind one of the very best offensive lines in the NFL with three pro bowl, all pro players on that line. He was also their leading receiver last year with 77 receptions.
