  1. Even when the Chiefs RB trips he falls forward for 5 yards...
  2. Chiefs doing what the Bills should have done to start the game and settle down the QB on a big Monday night game...RUN THE BALL!
  3. That's their weakness in the run game up the middle and I think a big reason they signed Bell. We shall see.
  4. The Bills are 4-1, Dolphins 3-3...what 2 game lead should they lose to KC. What's kinda scary is the Bills are PF 139, PA 142 = -3 differential. The Dolphins currently are PF 160, PA 113 = +47 differential I think the Jets FO wants this current situation, to fire the HC and to draft Trevor Lawrence. I've read about rumors of the Jets trading Darnold to the Colts for a #2 pick. They must be thinking they really screwed the pooch with that 2018 draft in going after Darnold @ #3*! Also, seeing what Josh Allen has done recently I'm sure Jets fans are crying in their beers too.
  5. I have no idea why this offensive brain trust doesn't see who has a hot hand right away and keep feeding them. Beasley wasn't used until the second half and caught 6 of 6 and 4 of those touches came in the first drive in the second half while 2 more came in the next drive. TJ Yeldon was used from the first drive and looked to be doing better than Singletary as it looked like the Titans were keyed on stopping him. Why not run Yeldon more? Now, from my view the Titans were dropping more into coverage and allowing the underneath stuff and for whatever reason the Bills kept trying to find Diggs midfield 16 targets, 10 receptions for 106 yards. Davis also had 9 targets with 5 receptions. Why didn't they take what the defense was giving them instead of going for the guy who was more often covered? The Bills come in with a game plan and stick with it no matter what the opposing defense does/shows. The entire NFL world was watching the only game on TV that night and all saw what the Titans did to handle the Bills. Tough games ahead. 4-1 Chiefs, Jets, 2-2 Patriots, 5-0 Seahawks, 3-2 Cardinals, BYE, Chargers, 49ers, 4-0 Steelers, Broncos, 2-2 Patriots, Dolphins. 5-5 by the bye week losing to KC,NE, Hawks, Cards. 9-7 at the end...maybe? Current Bills defense 21st in points allowed, 17th in yards allowed. Had they gotten so used to the big passing play that the moved away from just moving the chains over and over to get to the red zone? Better remove that cranium from the posterior...and get healthy.
  6. You know what you get when the opposing team faces an offense that scores around 30 points each game? 27-31-35-30... They know that they will need to score a lot of points to keep up so they usually go all out on offense to do just that. In the case of the Titans, they just had the oblong spheroid bounce their way this game and got rolling. Derrick Henry 19 carries for 57 yards, a 3.0 YPC AVG. So the Bills pretty much contained Henry. It was that play action with Tallywhacker playing pretty well that got them. Tally also did his Josh Allen impression with 4 runs for 42 yards and a TD. This Titans game was more about an entire team loss, penalties on both sides of the ball. Allen with two picks and one was clearly his fault. Singletary got stuffed. The game plan on offense didn't work. The Titans were fired up to play an undefeated team and after two weeks of down time were rested and ready. Buffalo looked anything but ready to play the Titans. I think they were looking past Tennessee to the Chiefs and got sucker punched. Nobody fires their DC after five games with many injuries to key players. Both starting corners out along with Milano. Several defensive players nursing injuries. One word...relax!
  7. I agree. Plus the Bills no longer have a fullback and the Titans were keying on Singletary. Titans game, Bills 22 rushes vs 41 pass attempts. Singletary did have a not so good game against the Raiders, 18 rushes for 58 yards a 3.1 YPC avg. HOWEVER, against that Rams top five defense 13 carries, 71 yards, a 5.5 YPC AVG. Currently Buffalo is 25th in rushing attempts, 28th in rushing yards. The Bills simply aren't making much of a commitment to the run game in my view. At least not like they are to the passing game. If only the Bills had a run game commitment like the Titans...Singletary had the same YPC AVG last season as Derrick Henry. JMO
  8. Amen! Did anyone else notice that last season after that Thanksgiving Cowboys game in which the Bills offense looked brilliant that Brian Daboll was getting a lot of interest as a HC by some teams? Then the Ravens game happened and Daboll had no answer for their constant blitzes, normal 55% of the time and they stepped it up to 65% once they saw Allen couldn't hit the deep pass. Six sacks on Allen and he had very little time to throw and yet 39 passes attempted. After this game only Cleveland gave him an interview. After those Raiders / Rams games this season Daboll was suddenly getting looks in the media about a HCing job, Texans, Falcons. The Jets and Jags will also be looking IMO. Lions, Vikings? This Titans game showed that there are still a bunch of flaws in Brian Dabolls game planning and the teams execution, penalties. On another note, the Bills offense was top 5 until this game, now 11th in points, 5th in yards. Still, big improvement! The Titans showed you can win with a good passing game AND a top run game as a more balanced team.
  9. My take is the coaches and players were all looking past the covid-19 riddled Titans to the Chiefs. They weren't certain that they would even need to play the Titans until the day of... The Bills had all just watched the Raiders beat the world champion Chiefs and were all thinking about what they needed to do against that team to get that win. what I've noticed over the years is when a team gets caught looking past an opponent they usually end up getting beaten by both teams. The good news is Buffalo is not as bad as they looked...and yet the entire NFL world watched that one singular game and saw how Tennessee beat up Buffalo pretty badly. Josh Allen had the time to throw because the Titans were dropping more into coverage which is kinda the same way the Raiders beat the Chiefs in my view. The Titans most times allowing short passes and trying to take away the deep passes. When Tenn brought more than four rushers Buffalo usually picked it up. Anyway, the Bills were exposed on both offense and defense. The Titans worked on taking two players on offense out of the game in Diggs and Singletary. Motor, 11 rushes for 25 yards a very poor 2.3 YPC AVG, Diggs caught 10 of 16 targets for 106 yards. Yet, Cole Beasley caught 6 of 6 passes in the second half and 5 of those 6 were in that first drive in the 3rd quarter that ended in an INT. That INT BTW was Allen's first real INT as the others were a tipped ball and a very questionable call. I think Allen was getting restless to throw deep and got careless on that short pass to Davis. Beasley vastly under used in this game in this game IMO as was TJ Yeldon who had 7 carries for 52 yards, 34 the longest with a 7.4 YPC avg. Buffalo 22 rushes vs 41 pass attempts. To me its like the Bills came in with a game plan and were defiant to run that plan no matter what. In my view Buffalo has the horses to build a power run attack and yet don't even try most of the time. The Titans are more of a complete team because they now have a decent QB and a stout run game. The Bills need work that run game better than 25th in rush attempts, 28th in rushing yards. JMO.
  10. Typo, 34 yard run. He also had one catch for a TD, 3 targets.
  11. This! A huge concern going forward as this years defense is stinking it up. Going from #3 overall to around 20th really is unreal.
  12. Buffalo defense 21st on points allowed, 17th in yards allowed after this last game. Now 11th on points scored, 5th in yards. The Bills defense is bad, really bad. No pass rush, can't stop the run and its going to get much worse as the Bills face the Chiefs, Jets, Patriots, Seahawks, Cardinals, Bye week. Chargers, 49ers, Steelers, Broncos, Patriots, Dolphins. Then, not having a decent running attack bit the Bills big time as Singletary was held to 2.3 yards per carry. The Bills only attempted 22 rushes all game vs 41 pass attempts. Looked like the Titans took the Raiders game plan against the Chiefs and dropped into coverage and gave Allen plenty of time in the pocket... The Bills didn't even go to Beasley until the second half and he caught 6 of 6. Digs caught 10 of 16 for 106 yards. Meanwhile TJ Yeldon seemed to have a hot hand at RB with 7 rushes for 52 yards a 7.4 YPC avg although he did have a break away for 53 yards on one run. The offense couldn't carry this game and the defense didn't even show up!
  13. Diggs 16 targets, 10 receptions...106 yards tho Cole caught 6 of 6 targets for 53 yards
  14. It never ceases to amaze me how many bad things we all see when the Bills lose a game and yet were there during the wins too. Bills OC Brian Daboll, now that he has gotten serious looks from other teams about becoming their new HC, Falcons, Texans. He seems to shoot himself in the foot just like he did last season after that awesome Cowboys game win with that craptastic play calling against the Ravens the following week. Granted, the Bills passing offense looked unstoppable until this game This game proves you simply can't be a one dimensional offense in this league. They lose WR John Brown for a game and suddenly the passing offense goes into the ceramic convenience? Josh Allen 26 of 41 for 263 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs. QBR 69.4. It wasn't like Allen was under a ton of pressure either as the Titans only sacked him once. Did Tenn steal the Raiders theme against the Chiefs and pass rush fewer while dropping more into coverage? Does Daboll not see who has the hot hand on offense or simply just does all game what he planned on doing from the start? The Bills had extra time to prepare for the Titans and yet fell on their face. 22 rushes vs 41 passes. Singletary 11 rushes 25 carries a 2.3 YPC avg. TJ Yeldon 7 carries 52 yards 7.4 ypc avg. Cole Beasley caught 6 of 6 passes. Diggs caught 10 of 16. Davis caught 5 of 9. The Buffalo Bills need to build a power run attack for when the snow, cold and wind gets to Buffalo and when the passing game isn't working. They don't have that part of their offense working very well. Previous to the Titans game, Bills offensive rush game for the season, four games 21st in rush attempts. 28th in rushing yards. Now that the entire NFL world watched as Tennessee took apart that Bills defense for 42 points...do the wheels come off now? 4-1 Chiefs, 2-2 Patriots, 5-0 Seahawks...
  15. Okay Doc, Let's look at that #7 in the league in ToP. NY Jets, 18:43-Bills 41:17 Dolphins, 31:05-Bills 28:55 Rams, 32:12-Bills 27:48 Raiders, 31:42-Bills 28:18 Looking at those numbers I'd say the Bills destroyed the Jets in ToP to give a misleading overall stat. However, I agree that quick three and out by the offense are killers. Alas, quick strike offenses can also put a ton of pressure on a defense and keep them on the field far, far too long. I do love the Bills passing offense so far this season with Allen becoming that long dreamed of franchise QB we have all wanted since Kelly. Again, just saying that there will come times when the Bills will need to work that power run game. And, if they find it they will become a complete unstoppable offense.
  16. You are thinking last years defense in which the Bills were 4th in passing yards allowed, 2nd in TDs allowed. The 2020 Bills defense so far is no where near as good as last season. The 2020 Buffalo Bills are currently 17th in points allowed, 20th in yards allowed and an unbelievable 27th in passing yards allowed. 19th in yards allowed per pass attempt. Buffalo has been very lucky this season as Josh Allen is tearing it up! A lot on his own too. Think that Rams comeback on 3rd and 22. Besides, the Bills will need that power run game come winter in the wind, blowing snow...home playoff games would be great. Remember that 2017 Dec 10th game game against the Colts where neither team had 100 yards passing for the game? It was shady McCoy with 32 rushes for 156 yards and 1 TD that won that OT game. Just saying, that the Bills need to work that power run game more often this season. After all Singletary is averaging 4.3 yards per rush attempt and that could be higher with more touches.
  17. To be honest the Bills are still not running the right offense to compliment the defense. This current Buffalo Bills fast, high scoring passing offense is exactly what hurts the defense as they now need to spend more time on the field. The Bills would be better off with that same high powered offense but also with a ground and pound run game to eat the clock when needed. Add that Titans run game to the Bills offense and it would truly be perfect. When they face a team like the Ravens who had Josh Allen under constant pressure all game last season by blitzing 50-65%. The Bills could start by pounding the ball and wearing them out and then open up that high scoring passing attack. JMO
  18. The Bills hired Chan Gailey as a last resort. So many NFL assistant coaches wouldn't even interview for the buffalo job. Nobody worth a darn wanted the Buffalo job as Bills owner Ralph Wilson was a known meddler, micro manager. At the start of looking for a new HC someone let slip (Brandon?) that the Buffalo Bills would pay a head coach 10 million per. This caught the attention of Bill Cowher and Mike Shanahan, even though the later had already taken the Redskins HCing job. Both interviewed and there was no real way the Bills would pay anyone that much. Anyway, Cowher came in with a list of people he would hire as his assistants in his interview and he had listed Gailey as his OC. The Bills brought in Gailey and what sold Wilson on him was that he stated he could win games without big name, super star players. (per SI) Current Bills GM Buddy Nix had talked with Marty Schottenheimer and old Marty desperately wanted the Bills job. For whatever reason Bills owner Ralph Wilson shot that down. Talk about decades of dysfunction. Hiring GM's who were never previously a GM's, one an old friend who was a ex HC, one a retired 70 year old assistant GM, scout, one a rascally marketing guy. The only two good GM's the man had he ended up firing, one because he called the owners daughter a bad name (she was working for the team). One because he refused a contract offer. The NY Jets currently have owners that think they know everything about the NFL and yet keep hiring the wrong people over and over...I'm kinda happy they do.
  19. Its not just one area that isn't quite as good as back then. Bills OC Ted Marchibroda taught Jim Kelly to call his own plays and basically had the offense run the 2-min drill all game as the "hurry up". Kelly was very astute running that 2- min drill so it worked very well. Ole Ted also had the Bills run an old Redskin scheme called the "counter trey" in which the O linemen would start one way and shift the other way. Thurman and his cutbacks which few teams could stop. Yes, Thurman Thomas was a huge part of those teams as most seasons the Bills ran more than they passed the ball. Thurman was around 70% of the offense and was Marshall Faulk before Marshall Faulk. 2000 yard all around player running and catching it. The offensive line was better back then with pro bowl Will Wolford at LT and Kent Hull at center an all pro and pro bowler, pro bowler Jim Ritcher at LG. Their problem was with depth. I don't think many teams in this era (besides the Cowboys, Colts) give much credit to how important a top offensive guard is to an offense. The Bills had a demon on special teams like no other team in the NFL had in 7 time pro bowler, MVP of the pro bowl, Steve Tasker. Opposing teams needed to put two players on him and he still got to the ball carrier. Why this man is not in the HoF is beyond me. Lastly, the defense. Bills GM Bill Polian built his defenses with speed on the ends with Bruce Smith and Biscuit. The Bills had two stellar pass rushers. This matters much in the same sense that you need more than one, two good WRs. The Bills this season now look like those 90's Bills with Andre Reed, Don Beebe and James Lofton with Beasley, Brown, Diggs. While the Bills had a good defense they found the best way to dominate other teams was to get a lead and unleash their hellish pass rush on poor opposing QB's. One game Bruce made Salisbury steaks out of Colts QB Sean Salisbury. Anyway, the weakness on the Bills defense was the interior defensive line and if they couldn't get a lead and the opponent ran the ball well, that defense had a much more difficult time stopping the run. Bottom line, better pass rush, better O line. Better commitment to running the ball with a power run game like the Titans have. Singletary might be enough as last season he had the very same yard per carry as Titans star RB Derrick Henry with a 5.1 yards per rushing attempt average. Having super stars at CB isn't that great an advantage if you can't stop the run. Tom Brady is now a Buc.
  20. I feel for Darnold as I think he is a good QB, just on the wrong coaching staff also with a bad GM. Unless the GM had his sights set on Trevor Lawrence all along... Even then, I kinda doubt he will be there making that #1 overall pick next season looking over what he did to this seasons team. The Jets have no defense, no real top talent on offense besides Darnold. You can't get by with one receiver. I think you guys are screwed as long as Woody's Brother is running that franchise.
  21. I did, just not this quick. 0-4 without their first and second round picks. He really stunk it up as a GM.
  22. Think about it. Darnold came out of USC much, much more refined and ready to play in the NFL. His problem was he was drafted by the Jests! GM Mike Mccagnan/HC Todd Bowles drafted Darnold and that years team went 4-12 mostly because their defense was 29th points, 25th yards- offense was 23rd points, 29th yards. Meanwhile Buffalo went 6-10 because the offense was horrid at #30th overall. Bills defense was 18th points allowed but 4th in yards allowed. The Bills retained their same staff except for OQ coach, O line coach, WR coach. The Jests fired Bowles after that 2018 season and hired Ole googly eyes and he hired renowned OC Dowell Loggains... Simply put the Jets have changed their offense and depleted their entire roster of talent. Who does Darnold have to throw to? Crowder? We all saw what happened In Buffalo with Josh only having Brown and Beasley and needing that star #1 WR. Darnold doesn't even have a Brown, Beasley much less that star #1 WR. His RB is Frank Gore who was burned out in Buffalo last season by week 6. 30+players on their Injury report. Bottom Line, I'd say Allen would be forced to play "hero" ball every game, almost every play on the Jets. I kinda doubt he would even be able to stay off IR. The Jets would still be a bad team as they lack so much talent all over their roster. However, I also doubt Sam Darnold would be doing in Buffalo what Josh Allen is doing as he simply doesn't have the arm to make so many of those Allen rockets. Buffalo would still be a good team with Darnold at QB because they are loaded with talent. Sucks for Darnold because the Jets are so bad they will probably fire Gase during this season, get the chance to draft Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence #1 overall in the 2021 NFL draft.
  23. This! I read constantly here that so many posters here wanted to draft him and yet...he came from an "air raid" scheme that so many other QB's failed at once entering the NFL. The reality was that not many were here saying they wanted Mahomes pre draft. "The skinny:Chiefs GM John Dorsey and head coach Andy Reid saw Brett Favre in Green Bay, and they have to see some of that gunslinger attitude in Mahomes. There is a risk factor here given his penchant for throwing the ball anywhere and from any arm angle (which will turn into interceptions in the NFL), and they have up a future first-round pick to get him. But if anyone can get Mahomes to adjust and succeed, it's Reid." https://www.nfl.com/news/2017-nfl-draft-quick-snap-grades-for-all-32-teams-0ap3000000804541 "Steven Ruiz of USA Today gave the Chiefs a C-minus for picking Mahomes. He wrote: “Calling Mahomes a project is a major understatement. He’s nowhere near ready to play in the NFL. And, honestly, he may never be. Between his inconsistent accuracy due to poor mechanics, his tendency to bail from clean pockets and his lack of field vision, he’s going to leave as many big plays on the field as he creates. This was a risky pick.” https://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/for-petes-sake/article224076765.html The Chiefs traded up to No. 10 overall and took quarterback Patrick Mahomes from Texas Tech. Quite a few of the “experts” thought Kansas City had made a mistake. Mahomes was allowed to sit for an entire season behind first overall pick Alex Smith. That certainly didn't happen in Buffalo with Allen and in fact Josh didn't even have a veteran QB to learn on at first or an actual QB coach. Plus, this coaching staff thought Nathan Peterman should start over Allen. That sentence right there shows how bizarre the offensive thinking was in Buffalo that season. The Bills offensive line stunk and Josh was forced to run all season because the pocket broke down so often. Reflecting on that thought, nobody on the Bills scouting staff, nor Doug Whaley could be trusted to see offensive talent. That crew drafted Zay Jones with a #2 pick, #37 overall. Let's not forget that the GM and entire Buffalo Bills scouting staff were fired right after that 2017 draft and THEN hired Brandon Beane May 9th 2017. McD knows defensive talent and I'm not going to fault him for trading back for Tre White when he had Whaley and his scouts doing the offensive evaluating at that time.
  24. The 2020 Buffalo Bills look like they are on their way to another playoff season. What worries me is playing another team like the Raiders who have shown a cavalier attitude about the serious virus pandemic. Over 100 Raiders at a party on Monday with nobody wearing face masks. After repeated issues with this team and failures to stay with protocol procedures. If any of these players tests positive the NFL should forfeit the game to Buffalo and allow the Bills players to stay safe. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29633697/heart-condition-linked-covid-19-fuels-power-5-concern-season-viability "A rare heart condition that could be linked with the coronavirus is fueling concern among Power 5 conference administrators about the viability of college sports this fall. Myocarditis, inflammation of the heart muscle, has been found in at least five Big Ten Conference athletes and among several other athletes in other conferences, according to two sources with knowledge of athletes' medical care." Heart issues linked to COVID-19 gained attention last week after the mother of Indiana offensive lineman Feeney posted her son's plight on Facebook. She wrote: "Unfortunately this virus hit my son very hard compared to most of his teammates. Here was a kid in perfect health, great physical condition and due to the virus ended up going to the ER because of breathing issues. After 14 days of hell battling the horrible virus, his school did additional testing on all those that were positive. My son even received extra tests because he was one of the worst cases. Now we are dealing with possible heart issues! He is still experiencing additional symptoms and his blood work is indicating additional problems. Bottom line, even if your son's schools do everything right to protect them, they CAN'T PROTECT THEM!!" Suddenly an "elite" athlete is no longer able to play at an elite level. This might be career ending for some. Scary stuff in my view. Think about being on an airplane with the entire team traveling to another city for hours with only cloth face masks. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/All-3M-Products/Safety/Personal-Safety/Personal-Protective-Equipment/Powered-Supplied-Air-Respirators/Headtops-Hoods-and-Helmets/?N=5002385+8709322+8711017+8711405+8720539+8720547+8753852+3294857497&rt=r3 Am I being over protective for my beloved Buffalo Bills? Helicopter fan? Too much? Anyway, we now have an elite superstar QB and receivers, players. I'd like to see them all stay that way.
  25. I think what sold Brandon Beane on Josh Allen was that he grew up on a farm and was no stranger to hard work. Up at the crack of dawn and worked till dark on his fathers farm. Was a scrawny 180lb 6'2'' kid when he entered Junior college and no big school wanted to give him a scholarship to play football. After 2 years of JR he sent out over 2000 emails to football schools with his resume and only two responded. Wyoming and Eastern Michigan and the latter rescinded their offer once they found out he was talking with the former. Josh Allen got to Wyoming and turned a perennial loser into a bowl game player by basically carrying the team on his shoulders. Even coming from California didn't deter Josh from playing in the snow and cold of Wyoming. In his final season at Wyoming every player that had touched the ball the year before was gone from the team, so he was playing with a bunch of rookies and still got them to a bowl game. Josh Allen knew what his problems were going into the combine and talked with Mike Mayock (now Raiders GM) about his accuracy issues.
