Let's face it as there were a lot of non calls in that AFC Championship game. This was what even the announcers were saying about Bills receivers. That Chiefs defense came in as the #10 in points allowed, #16 in yards allowed. The Ravens had a better defense. The holding kept Diggs from getting open who was Josh's main target all season. Now switch to defense and think about how the Chiefs might have been holding Jerry Hughes and Co. Yes, Buffalo had their share of problems in the playoffs as they didn't look anywhere near as good on offense has they had all season. Both In the red zone and on 3rd downs. The game plans and play calls left much to be desired. The Bills offensive line looked pretty bad against the Chiefs too...dunno why.

I'm hearing on GMFB that the Chiefs are whining about all the penalties they had... All I can think of is how Tony Romo kept describing that "sticky defense" against Buffalo all game long. Which basically meant that the Chiefs DBs were holding, mugging Bills receivers all game long. (Save Cole Beasley who still got open) Watching the game the Chiefs DB's tried that against the Bucs and were called for it over and over that first quarter. Actually tripping a receiver and then both corners holding on the same play. The Chiefs offensive line holding like crazy too. Saw a KC O-linemen grab a Buc defender by the collar and drag him down with no penalty. On another play a chiefs player had his arm around a Buc play throat from behind, no call. The refs didn't change the outcome of the game. But let the KC players know that they needed to play by the rules...and they still were holding. Which leads me to believe that the Bills are really not that far off from beating the Chiefs.

Would the Bills have beaten the Bucs?

I'd say no! After watching what the Bucs did to Aaron Rodgers and the 13-3 Green bay Packers. The Packers had a very balanced attack all season and in that NFC Championship game they ran 16 times for 67 yards. Meanwhile Rodgers 33 of 48 for 346, 3 TDs, 1 INT. While it would look like Rodgers had a good game he was sacked 5x and hurried, harassed all game. Tampa even lost ToP 34:37 to 25:23 and yards 275 to 314. Tampa even had more turnovers as Brady threw 3x INTs. It was the Bucs defense able to hold that Packers offense to field goals. QB Blane Gabbert now has a SB ring 🤣 -
Thoughts and prayers for Zerovoltz here

The Chiefs O linemen were nearly as good at holding as the Chiefs DB's. The refs called most of the flagrant instances. There were still a lot that didn't get called. I didn't think I would enjoy watching this game as much as I did. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and even watched Brady hold the trophy...which he passed off to his kids. One more SB win, one more ring, one more MVP. Belicheat This game just shows that it was way more Tom Brady over Bill Belicheat! -
While the injury to the QB could account for that slump in numbers after the Raiders game. Week 5 Titans, 6 Chiefs, 7 Jets, 8 Patriots. What the heck happened in the playoffs? A close win over the Colts and yet the Colts won ToP and yardage 34:16 to 25:43, 472 yards to 397. Allen the leading rusher in this game with 11 carries. Against the Ravens it was the Buffalo defense that took charge and that pick six was a 14 point differential. The Bills offense only scored 10 points and again Buffalo lost ToP and yards by 35:33, 25:77. 340 yards to 220. 38-24 drubbing by the Chiefs and the wheels came off. Buffalo even had a 9 point lead after the first quarter. The Buffalo defense fell on their face and so did part of the offense. Josh tried to carry the game being the leading rusher and passer 28 of 48 for 287, 2 TDs, 1 INT. The Chiefs showed all the flaws on this Buffalo team that need correcting. Great season, tough ending.

You know what I heard about Kordell Stewart...

All I can say is, it must have been so very difficult to be something other than a white QB at that time. Good for him as he stood up for what he wanted to do. I recall that time in the NFL and never heard any rumor like that about him. Not surprised that someone started something like that though. As for Switzer, inherited a great team built by Jimmy Johnson...won a SB and fell on his face. Even Gailey took the Cowboys to the playoffs for two seasons with Aikman at QB. Dallas, GM Jerry Jones still believes he is the one that built that Cowboys dynasty. They haven't won a playoff game since 1995. -
Yep, typo good catch. 166 targets is what it should have been.

I honestly don't see the Jets moving on from Darnold this year. Like what the Bills did with Tyrod Taylor, as they may want to see what they have in Sam with a decent scheme with some talent around him. OTOH, if they have already made up their minds about moving on, QBs Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields will all be there with the #2 pick. Although, I would think they will want to go WR DeVonta Smith from Alabama to beat Miami to the punch. The Jets also have the #23rd pick in the first round for that defensive player or RB the HC might want.

Good stuff, Yolo. All I can do is thank the lord that Antonio Brown wanted no part of Buffalo...so, Beane was forced to keep looking. He found a really rare diamond in Stefon Diggs. So far best receiver in Buffalo history in terms of leading the league in receptions, yards. 127 receptions for 1535 yards. Wowzah! On another note, the leap he took in 2020 were the *166 targets from Josh. DeAndre Hopkins had 160 targets and did far less. *Woops 166 targets, not 126

Most Bills fans at the beginning of last season had predicted the Bills to 7-9, 9-7 season looking at the difficulty of teams they faced. Nobody predicted 13-3 and an AFC Championship berth. This season the Bills could fall back a bit due to losing some players and the teams in the AFC East getting better. Patriots get all those who opted out due to covid back, 8 players. Plus, the Patriots have around 60k in positive cap space. The Patriots have 7 picks in the upcoming draft including the #15 overall pick. This years free agency is going to be very strange as so many teams will be over the cap and will need to cut many players...like expensive star players. It will be a buyers market for the teams that have loads of cap space. The NY Jets under a new HC other than "crazy eyes"...should be greatly improved as he knows defense and his OC should build a decent offense. Plus, they are +65k under the cap! The Jets have 9 picks in the upcoming draft including #2 overall and #23 overall. The Dolphins while still have a question with their starting QB in Tua. They have the #3 overall pick and the #18 overall pick along with two second round picks. 10 picks total. Not bad for a 10-5 team. Miami also has +25k in cap space. Buffalo has -6k cap space. The entire NFL world watched the Chiefs beat the Bills on both offense and defense in that AFC Championship game. The Bills won't be sneaking by anyone in 2021 and every team will be out to beat them the same way the Chiefs did...could be a rough year. The Biggest question going forward is will the Bills build a respectable rushing attack or let Josh Allen be the leading rusher in games? Anyway, the Bills have the 23rd toughest schedule in 2021. 123-133. Home, Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, Falcons, Panthers, Texans, Colts, Steelers. Away, Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, Jags, Saints, Bucs, Titans, Chiefs.

Marty was an ex Buffalo Bills player 1965-1968. Gm Buddy Nix had to go through the owner for any HCing hire and he wanted to hire Marty and Marty desperately wanted the job as well, Wilson said NO! My thinking is that Wilson was a known micromanager and he knew that Shotty would not put up with that for a min. Before he left Buffalo, Bills HC Dick Jauron let it be known that Wilson was on the phone to him from Detroit for hours daily during the season. This was a big reason as to why the team couldn't hire a decent HC at that time. Once coaches heard that news, even the assistants that had given the ok to be interviewed then cancelled. Nix was getting desperate himself back then, so he got the ok to hire a guy who had been fired year previous as KC's OC. He was demoted as play caller by HC Todd Haley KC. The pitch that Gailey made to Wilson was that he could win games without big name stars on the team. Which he basically did in Buffalo... Gailey was supposedly some offensive guru...his first mistake in Buffalo was putting all his cards on Trent Edwards who he named as starter in Buffalo. To show how inept Gailey really was, he stated that Brian Brohm, Edwards and Fitzpatrick were all about equal as QB's. Yet, named Edwards the starter. Only to cut him after two games. His second mistake was drafting RB CJ Spiller in the first #9 overall when the team and recently traded away all pro LT Jason Peters. The Bills were desperate for a decent LT. Seventh round pick Demetress Bell filled that role for awhile. (The Bills still had Marshawn Lynch on the roster too). Gailey was simply lucky that Fitz was on the roster or that 2010 season would have been more of a disaster then 4-10! Fitz running for his life every play because the offensive line was so bad. Buddy Nix was another clueless GM who bragged about signing an O linemen only to cut him after six games. Nix did manage to find two O linemen off the street to help that line though. The simple answer is YES! Schottenheimer would have turned around the Buffalo Bills very quickly. Marty knew talent! He would have hired the right assistant coaches while building a solid team in Buffalo...even with Buddy Nix and Russ Brandon.
