I can't! A TE perhaps or a center to groom for replacing Morse. The thing with John Brown is, as much as I like the guy. We all saw he couldn't get any separation in the Chiefs games or in that Ravens game this year and last year. That first Chiefs game in 2020, 4 targets 0 catches. Brown had the same targets and receptions as Diggs in the 2020 Ravens playoff game. The difference was Diggs 11 targets, 8 receptions for 106 yards, 1 TD. Brown 11 targets, 8 receptions for 62 yards.

I agree, I like him too. I think he should be back, if for mostly as a backup guard/center...considering that Morse has had so many concussions. Morse worries me because that next concussion might be his last playing in the NFL.

Some guys play and put up big stats and yet don't win in big games...it isn't in their DNA to have that determination to win a game no matter what. Dak doesn't look like he has that IMO. With that offense he has been in with Zek, Cooper, Beasley and one of the very best offensive lines in the league. Prescott, Elliott, Cooper all-pros. 2014 13-3 and lost in the divisional round. 2018 10-6 beat the Seahawks in a WC round and lost to the Rams in divisional round. One playoff win in five years and the Cowboys used to have a top defense too. He isn't worth Mahomes money. I'd trade him for Wilson or better yet trade Dak away and move up in the draft for a QB.

What bothers me a bit is word on the street was that this past season that officials were told by the league to keep things working fast. Meaning very few holding calls to keep offenses on the field. If true, and they resort to past tendencies of calling those holds... it makes me wonder just how good that Buffalo offensive line is going to be going forward? Buffalo graded as PFF's 10th best unit and Williams graded 79.4. When reflecting back at a lot of games it looked like Allen had tons of times in the pocket almost every game. Save the Chiefs games. Should Buffalo ever want to get past the Chiefs they will need to do better than they did in last years two games by giving Allen a cleaner pocket, more time to throw. A Better O line! It also wouldn't hurt to have a TE like Gronk, that even when he is being held he can muscle free to catch the ball. Plus, it would help to have officials that will call the holds / jams past 5 yards by the Chiefs DBs.

I'm actually very happy Buffalo didn't pay what Arizona gave Watt. So, it will allow Buffalo more choices when the expensive players start dropping like flies after being cut. Also, since he stated he is much happier in the warmer weather...

It's amazing to me how someone who is so condescending can be so ignorant at the same time. I never lied about anything and you make stuff up as you go along... adding things I never said. I never once stated that Josh Allen was starting in 2018 even though you keep reiterating that point. The simple fact is that Peterman failed due to the offensive scheme that Brain Daboll put him in...and when the run game failed as it has at times the past few seasons under Daboll. The entire offense to win the game goes on the QB shoulders...as it has so many times. Daboll had no answer for that Ravens pass rush in 2018, and again in 2019, and he probably had no answer in 2020, save that they decided not to blitz for some reason. Daboll had no answer for the Chiefs and their defense/pass rush either, even though they faced them for the second time in 2020. I'm done here, as I'm no longer going to waste my time attempting to get through...

First off, calm down... Most people would think that an NFL offensive coordinator would be able to distinguish that a young, inexperienced QB would be good enough to start a game in the NFL. Apparently not in this case! The Bills decided to go with Peterman when they had QB AJ McCarron who they outright cut before the season started after giving him a 2 year, 10 mill contact. McCarron started and finished the 3rd preseason game against the Bears with a comeback win and 3 TD passes. Someone must have gone to the HC and stated that Peterman was the better QB and should start the season for Buffalo. McD doesn't make the offensive decisions by himself. Anyway, there are real reasons as to why Brian Daboll has fielded such horrible passing offenses as an NFL OC previous to the 2020 season. Just like there is a reason that Nathan Peterman failed so miserably in his first NFL start. Not just bad... as in having a bad day! There was no way that Peterman should have even been on that field that day! Nearly three full quarters of football, 5 of 18 for 24 yards, 2 INTs, 3 sacks with a rating of 0.0! If you look back in this thread, I stated that Daboll calls plays like he has an experienced veteran QB under center and he has been doing this since day one. It didn't matter if the QB at hand was capable of running "his" scheme. He was going to run it the way he wanted, regardless. Look at that 2018 first game against the Baltimore Ravens, its like nobody watched film on this team and what they do on defense. A team noted to have a ferocious defense in which they blitz nearly 50% of their defensive snaps. So, starting an inexperienced QB against that defense most OC's would first work the run game and then call a lot of short passes, dump offs and screens to give that young QB some confidence going forward. It started out that way, except the run game didn't work at all as McCoy was stuffed in his first few run attempts. So, what did this OC do? He put the QB under the gun by forcing him to make pass plays behind a very poor offensive line, with a rather poor receiving corps. On a 3rd and 7 instead of just trying to move the chains the OC calls for a deep pass, Incomplete. Bills QBs were sacked 6x in that game and under constant duress from blitzes. Under Daboll, the run game fails so it all falls on the QB to make things work...and that played right into the teeth of that Ravens defense. (* The Buffalo Bills played the Baltimore Ravens again in 2019 and it was as if they had never seen this team before. Six sacks on Josh Allen and he was under constant pressure all game long. 12 QB hits. Again that year, the Bills had no answer for the constant blitzing by that Ravens defense.) Bottom line here, is that Daboll was oft times calling for deep passes that Peterman simply couldn't make and some throws were intercepted. He didn't have enough arm to make those throws. Why call them if he can't make them? The Bills offense was a cluster of eff ups with plays that didn't work both run/pass, lack of protection from the line, and when things actually started to go right... penalties (10 for 100 yards). The buck stops with the offensive coordinator when the team can't run the ball, can't throw the ball and the line can't stop being penalized for stupid mistakes.

Nowhere, did I debate that anyone thought Peterman was the better QB. Don't make stuff up to to defend Daboll. In fact, I stated, that the gap between them was grand canyon wide. What was absurd, was the thinking that Nathan Peterman was good enough to start that game in the first place.

While I agree that the difference between Peterman and Allen is a grand canyon wide gap. Why didn't the OC see this previous to the team giving him the start? Welp, with Peterman starting that 2018 season at QB, he got all the reps and all the focus of that OC in training camp and the preseason... and yet he couldn't even develop him into a decent backup QB holding a clipboard? Peterman is still in the NFL as a backup QB to QB Derek Carr with the Raiders. Anyway, if you go back and watch that 2018 season opener Ravens game that Peterman started and played nearly three full quarters. Bills OC Brian Daboll was calling pass plays that Peterman simply didn't have the arm to complete. Just like Josh Allen, I feel that Brian Daboll is learning as he goes and while the Bills passing offense was outstanding during most of the regular season in 2020. They did fall on their face for that Titans game and twice against the Chiefs. Not to mention, a rather, not very good performance in any game in the playoffs. Against the Baltimore Ravens, that high scoring regular season Bills offense only scored 10 points that game. They also failed to keep up with the Chiefs as Josh Allen was under constant pressure all game long. Ten QB hits and four sacks by the Chiefs defense. Buffalo, with not much of a run game the QB is forced to carry the offense. It shouldn't be that way. Where was the passing game innovation for the playoffs we all saw during the regular season? In any event, for the 2022 season, I can only hope that Daboll get the Bills run game working as well as the passing game worked this past season. And the passing game keeps evolving into an offense that nobody can stop.

I don't see anyone here calling for his head at this point in this thread. However, If Allen suffers a severe injury, concussion running the ball I could see that changing very quickly. Watching that hit on Allen in that video I linked by the Patriots should send chills down every Bills fans spine. Even the Bills GM Brandon Beane stated that the team needs to focus on building a better run game. As to my earlier point, if Daboll is so good at developing QB Josh Allen, then what happened to Nathan Peterman? Why didn't that young, inexperienced QB evolve into even a decent backup under Daboll? It's my contention that Daboll has called the Bills offense from the very start like he has an experienced, veteran QB behind center and he hasn't had that before this season. This year, in his third season, Josh Allen has evolved into a top QB in this passing scheme. I also feel that Daboll is riding Josh Allen's coattails in using the kid to show how great "his' passing offensive scheme is...and utilizing him with designed runs because he can't figure out how to get more out of the RBs on the roster. If the man is such a good offensive coordinator, then why does the Buffalo Bills run game look like such a dismal failure with just the Bills RB's?

Screw the designed runs! Here is why I don't want my "elite" superstar QB that took nearly 30 years to find running the darn ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Josh Allen has already had one concussion against the Patriots. Another reason I don't want to see Josh Allen in designed QB runs. Yes, he can run and is very good at it. However, how easy will it be to replace him when he is gone?? Running QB's don't last in the NFL...period! SUPERMAN...is...no...longer...superman!

To show that although the stats say the Bills offensive run game is looking somewhat generally overall decent in comparison to other NFL teams. It's not because of the running backs themselves. It's because of the Bills QB being the teams third leading rusher in adding a lot of yardage. Context. The 13-3 Green Bay Packers were 12th in attempts in rushing, 8th in rush yards, 15th in TDs. While QB Aaron Rodgers was their 4th leading rusher, he had 38 attempts for 149 yards, 3 TDs. While their main RB was Aaron Jones with 201 attempts for 1104 yards, 9 TDs. Bills QB Josh Allen alone had 2x the rushing TDs over Zack Moss and nearly as many rush attempts 102 to 112, rush yards 421 to 481. My conclusion was it wasn't just the RBs or the line. It was the fact that this OC simply doesn't work the offensive run game with the same regard as he does the passing game.

Mostly because of the QB himself. Daboll is getting credit for developing Allen... when in his rookie year (2018) this same OC thought QB Nathan Peterman was ready to start that Baltimore Ravens opener over Allen. In case anyone has forgotten how bad things were with good ole Nathan behind center...5 of 18 for 24 yards passing, 2 INTs, 3 sacks a QB rating of 0.0. and he played until midway into the 3rd quarter!!!! What happened to Nathan Peterman's development??? Where is the miracle evolve / development with "that" QB? That first season (2018) Allen had no actual QB coach that was an actual QB coach, as he had a past of coaching WRs. He had no journeyman QB on the roster to help guide him and show him the NFL ropes until partway through the season. It wasn't Daboll who has been working with Allen on his mechanics every offseason. It was, and still is Jordan Palmer who should get the most credit for Josh Allen's development. QB coach Ken Dorsey also gets credit from Allen himself on helping his development. Let's also not forget that in that first season (2018) the Buffalo Bills (due to cap restraints and injuries, Woods and Incognito gone) had one of the very worst offensive lines in the NFL! This, with the Bills OC calling for more deep throws then any other NFL team. Deep throws usually require a 5-7 step deep drop back for the QB... when Allen was constantly under pressure to get rid of the ball. So much so, that Allen was constantly running for his life...and when this OC saw how good he was at escaping the rush, he installed some QB run plays. Brian Daboll has had a past history of sucking as an NFL OC and up until this season his passing offenses have been 32nd, 29th, 23rd, 32nd, 31st in 2018 for Buffalo, 26th in 2019 for Buffalo. Come to think of it...where was the passing innovation in Bills the passing game for the playoffs? Pass happy, one trick pony...

Now, take away 109 attempts, 510 yards rushing, 9 TDs by the QB and see where that puts the Bills RB production? 317 attempts 1374 yards from Singletary and Gore. Those numbers put the Bills last in rush attempts and 31st in rushing yards. IMO The problem isn't the line or the RBs as Singletary averaged 5.1 YPC in 2019, which was the same as Titans RB Derrick Henry...who led the NFL in rushing the past two seasons. Singletary still averaged 4.4 YPC in 2020. The difference that I see is the innovation that we saw in the Buffalo Bills passing game each week vs the lack of innovation we saw in the Bills run game. The 2020 Buffalo Bills had the #2 offense in the NFL. 11th in passing attempts, 3rd in passing yards. 4th in net yards per passing attempt! Yet, 17th in rushing attempts, 20th in rush yards. 20th in yards per rushing attempt. Notice the difference? QB Josh Allen was a top five QB in 2020, with 4544 passing yards, 37 TDs and a 69.2 completion percentage. Yowzah! I get that the fact that Allen can break free from the pocket for a big gain like he did in some playoff games as he was the Buffalo leading rusher in that Colts playoff game. Led with 7 rush attempts against the Ravens along with Singletary in the division playoff game. Allen was again the leading rusher for the Bills in the AFC championship game. The very last thing this franchise should want to see going forward... is their elite pocket passing QB being the leading rusher in any game ever again!! As he is simply far to valuable throwing the ball in the pocket vs ending up like Cam Newton, RG3 because of injuries from running. Eff that! Allen has evolved into an elite pocket passer...which we all saw in 2020.

My take is teams are looking at Daboll like they look at Baltimore OC Greg Roman. Roman can build a really good run offense and is not so good at the pass game. Daboll has put together some really good game plans for the passing game for the 2020 season no question. Yet, those plans faltered big time in the playoffs. The Bills run game was almost nonexistent some games That Ravens playoff game the Bills ran the ball only once the entire first half...and finished the game with nine RB carries for the entire game. The Bills offense scored ten offensive points that game. I can only imagine how much more potent the Bills offense would be if they could run the ball like those 90's Bills could run it. They don't need to run more than pass. Simply become more effective at running it...balance! I think the Chargers seemed to be set to hire Daboll and watched those Colts / Ravens games and promptly hired Brandon Staley the day after that Ravens playoff game, Jan 17th.

Simply not worth that much money, 14-15 million for an aged player who has been often injured the last three years. If the guy is really that interested in that kind of money I tend to think he is looking for a last big payday before he retires. No thank you, next!

Stone hands? His catch percentage actually went from 70.7% in 2019 to 76.0% in 2020 and both numbers are pretty freaking good! That number puts him right there with Beasley 76.6% and Diggs 76.5%. Motor was the Bills 3rd leading reception leader with 38 receptions. As for rushing, if the Bills made more commitment to the run game his 4.4 yards per rushing attempt would have been as good as his 2019, 5.1 yard per rushing attempt. IMO. BTW, that 4.4 YPC is the same as the Chiefs rookie RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The Bills are a passing team and have been with Bills OC Brian Daboll calling plays. The only reason the Bills looked overall decent in the run game was because of QB Josh Allen with his carries. If you look at the stats Singletary had only 18 carries in two games in 2020 and in some games had as little as 2 carries Sea-3 Mia-4 Ariz carries. He averaged about 10 carries per game. Now look at Titans RB Derrick Henry, his lowest was 15 carries and highest 34. He averaged about 20-28 or more carries a game. It generally takes around 20 carries for any RB to realize his potential in a game as he gets more into a rhythm and this wears down a defense chasing him all over the field. IMHO, The Bills would be a better running team if they actually put the effort into running the ball. It's clear that the priority on offense is the passing game. If the Bills OC put as much effort into the run plays as pass plays they would be better at running the ball. Heck, The Bills didn't even utilize RBs TJ Yeldon or Antonio Williams very much even after Moss went out. BTW, Zach Moss YPC avg in 2020 was 4.3. From Bills GM Brandon Beane, "I think it's so unfair to look at the running backs to point blame on the running game," he said. "Running the football is very complex and it's obviously the O-line, it's the tight ends, it's the receivers and if one guy doesn't make his block the play's probably dead. "And so there were times this year where we're one guy away, and whether it's a tight end or whether it was a lineman, it's a big gainer and you're going, 'Gosh, if we just get this guy blocked.' We had that at times. I'm not saying there's no blame. Sometimes the running back missed the hole. Phillip Rivers was the #10 QB in 2020. 12 games, Wentz was #26 with a completion % 57.4 percentage. 437 attempts, 2437 yards 16 TD, 15 INTs. Somebody will need to be a magician to get Wentz to look like a franchise QB again...

Oh man, that bullet Josh threw to Cole Beasley with 1:36 to go was an amazing throw. Singletary looked pretty darn good in this game 13 rush attempts for 71 yards a 5.5 YPC avg. 4 receptions for 50 yards. The line with Williams, Ford, Dawkins, Winters, Morse.

I wouldn't trade Josh Allen for any other NFL QB or the supposed generational rookie QB Trevor Lawrence! Josh is simply the perfect fit for Buffalo!

I'm not so certain this is all Josh, as in 2018 Daboll had him throwing more deep passes over any other team in his first season. This, with one of the very worst offensive lines in the league. At that point I kinda doubt Josh is changing the plays on his own. 2019 the Bills suddenly didn't throw deep that often and had little success when they did throw deep. While Allen was noted for being in a pro style vertical offense at Wyoming. My take is that Allen mostly throws the play that's been called. In some games the runs simply weren't being called very often and neither were passes to Cole Beasley, who looks to be as good as getting open as Diggs. Against the Ravens in that divisional round the Bills didn't run but nine times to the RB's and Cole Beasley had two targets, no catches. Gabe Davis had four targets and no catches. Meanwhile both Brown and Diggs saw eleven targets each. I get the impression that this OC has his offensive game plan set up to call passes deeper than ten-twenty yards and work that mid to deep passing game. The run game and short passing game are something the Bills have in their play book but simply don't work on very much. In that Ravens game Josh Allen threw 31 of 37 passes under 20 yards. Against the Chiefs 43 of 48 passes were under 20 yards. JMO

He stated that the Bills and Bucs ran nearly the exact same defense against the Chiefs only the Bucs had the players to pull it off. A confluence of things also helped the Bucs, KC lost their starting LT in the AFC Champ game. Once the Bucs got a big lead they were able to tee off with their pass rush and not worry about the run. Mahomes was injured as he clearly couldn't move around as well as he did in some past games. AND, Travis Kelce did have his way, 10 receptions for 133 yards on 15 targets. When the Chiefs did ran the ball they did well and simply didn't run often enough. While they kept asking their injured QB with a suspect O line to carry the game. KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, 9 rushes for 64 yards a 7.1 YPC AVG. The Bucs were in a constant pass defensive scheme and daring the Chiefs to run! KC just kept attempting to pass (sound familiar?).After watching the Green Bay NFC Championship game you would think that the Chiefs would run more...even against that #1 against the run Bucs defense. Still, this same defense managed to have strong performances against the Packers and Saints. Dropping Rodgers 4x, and while the Bucs defense normally blitzed 39% of a game most of the season, the Bucs only sent more than four rushers five times the entire game. The Bucs were able to pressure Mahomes a record 29 times! 26 of 49 for 270 yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs. 69.3 passer rating. Ouch! Nearly 500 yards of running for his life in that game. The Bucs D line is very formidable and yet those LBers White, David, Barrett...Yowie!

That third Bucs series they started by running it for 3, 6, 6 yards and that opened up the play action as the next six were passes to finally Gronk in the end zone. Being able to put the Chiefs back on their heals and made them respect the run was a big difference. Consequently as the Bucs got the lead and knew the Chiefs were forced to throw almost ever down they could pin their ears back and pass rush with that front four rather then worrying about the Chiefs run game. Now, in the second half the Bucs did work that run game more. Let's not forget that as good as that Bucs run games was, they couldn't punch it in the end zone on three runs.
