The Raiders have figured out how to use Kahlil Mack
Nihilarian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, both Carr, and Mack looking good now. Mack was good last year, and now with Del Rio as his HC he will have someone who knows how to best utilize him. Ken Norton as DC helps too. WR Amari Cooper also looks like he could be an all pro very soon. This week the Raiders should be 3-1 after a trip to hapless Chicago. Yea, he looked like a superstar against the Bills last year because last years coaching staff was so lame they couldn't figure out a way to help chip the guy. Or simply didn't think he warranted the extra attention even after he was harassing Orton every play. The Raiders defense also did a number on the Bills run game with allowing only 13 rushes for 13 yards. Man, I'm so happy those offensive mental midgets in Maroon, and Hacker are no longer in Buffalo. -
Cleveland Browns are a disaster...
Nihilarian replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't blame Bill for wanting more picks spent on the offensive line in the first round because the Bills have done that only once since 2002, and that looked like an afterthought being the second pick in the first that year. RB 03,WR 04, (WR in 2nd 05) DB & DE 06, RB 07, DB 08, DE 09(C with 2nd first round pick)RB 10, DT 11, DB 12, QB 13, WR 14, (DB in 2nd in 15)Four DB's- Three RB's-Three WR's-Two DE-One DT. One C. One QB, One QB, and one O linemen says a lot to me as to why this team has been so mediocre over the last 15 years. We all want Tyrod Taylor to develop into an elite franchise type pocket passer, and the Bills had better build him a decent pocket to throw from at some point. Tyrod looking a lot like another Russell Wilson running all over, and hopefully he stays healthy all season. If Tyrod gets a wheel dinged he will be a sitting duck behind that current line, IMO. Fingers crossed! The Buffalo Bills appear to currently have more money invested in their defensive line then any other team in the NFL, and it doesn't seem to be paying off when the team only rushes with the front four. (Patriots Game & Dave Wannstedt) Then all those picks at DB didn't seem to slow down Tom Brady in setting a Bills franchise record for passing yards against with 466. Just sayin. . On a different note, this years team is a collaborative effort between the new HC, GM. But there are a few players that this HC wanted, and look to be making a huge difference for the team. Tyrod Taylor- Percy Harvin- Richie Incognito, and Greg Roman was his choice for OC. While Rex Ryan might put his foot in his big mouth at times he is a big reason why the team is doing so well right now. -
Thanks Mr Packers fan!

Spiller M.I.A. in New Orleans
Nihilarian replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That pick was all Chan Gailey, and him wanting his "waterbug" type player. Probably because he saw the talent in the kid firsthand during his HC college days at Georgia Tech. Spiller at Clemson (2006-2009) was the ACC offensive player of the year in 2009. Naturally Nix wanted to give his new hire as HC the players he wanted. Gailey also came into Buffalo spouting to the FO that he didn't need superstars on offense to win games, and could get it done with average players. (perhaps "average" meaning less expensive) The man might have been a bit more successful in Buffalo if he knew who to hire as his DC. JMHO But yea, I'm darn glad he is a Saint now! -
Who's going to be the first coach fired this year?
Nihilarian replied to BmarvB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You know another person who is so technically involved in an offense it borders on ridiculous. Jon Gruden is very much like that, as his offensive play books are enormous, and he wants his QB's to learn and know every play in it. So that in any given situation he can bring up some obscure play that nobody knows or remembers and run it. Probably why he really only had great success with the Raiders, and veteran QB Rich Gannon who was in his 12th season, and on his fourth team. -

Thanks I don't see Pagano getting another HCing job right away if he fails with Andrew Luck at QB! Frankly, I can see Miami going all out, as they tried to hire Jim Harbaugh previously. I look for them to make a big run at Bill Cowher, errp, meant JON Gruden aka "Chuckie". Heck, should the Bills make the playoffs I can see them trying to steal Greg Roman. * Hrmm, Mike Shanahan sitting at home might be another possibility. -
Spiller M.I.A. in New Orleans
Nihilarian replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spiller is probably still learning the terminology, playbook and other players numbers. He is just coming off an injury but I don't see him being a big factor in the offense until later in the season...if at all this year. The Saints were foolish to let Jimmy Graham, Darren Sproles leave. -
Cleveland Browns are a disaster...
Nihilarian replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Browns have a decent HC, and just need to give him time to settle things down a bit. They are still looking for their franchise QB, and I don't get why they won't just go with Johnny Football for now. If he stinks it up then draft a QB next year Their GM Farmer was fined for sending / texting offensive plays to their OC Kyle Shanahan during games which is illegal, and he is a real bonehead. This stupidity by their GM caused their OC to step down. Kyle is now the OC in Atlanta and he installed a kick ass offensive scheme that makes decent adjustments at half time. The Falcons are 3-0. The Browns are also in a very tough division AFC Central Steelers, Ravens, Colts have been in the playoffs almost every year as all three have their franchise QB. -

Philbin-Miami 1-2 is as good as gone if this team doesn't get a WC Pagano-Indy 1-2 in his 4th year, and the GM doesn't like him, and this owner won't accept a losing season with Luck at QB Wisenhunt-Tenn 1-2 in his 2nd year * looks like they have found their franchise QB in Marcus Mariota Fisher-Rams 1-2 in his 4th year, and he might have stepped into an enormous pile of dodo in the NFC West as his Rams have never finished better then 7-9 Gruden-Skins 1-2 in his 2nd year Lovie- Bucs 1-2 in his 2nd year- The owners might fire him and the GM for choosing the wrong QB. Time will tell. Gus Bradly Jacksonville 1-2 In his 3rd year now. Is Bortles the answer at QB? Mike Pettine Cleve 1-2 in his 2nd year now Jim Caldwell Detroit 0-3 with Stafford at QB, and megatron 11-5 last year and a WC berth so who knows. Mike Tomsula- 49ers 1-2 first year, but this GM & owner might have a very low losing threshold Not even gonna mention the 69 year old HC of the Giants because should they have a losing season he will step down -
Top 5 teams in the AFC right now
Nihilarian replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that the Bills main flaw is their O line, and I think its a major flaw right now. McCoy 11 rushes for 16 yards. Dixon 5 rushes for -1 yard. While Karlos Williams did much better with his 12 rushes for 110 yards. One of his runs went for 41 yards so its 11 rushes for 69 yards which is still excellent. Now McCoy might have a slight injury that's keeping him from being 100%. I also think its because they keyed on him to run the ball when he is in the backfield. Between Tyrod's roll outs, and Karlos's power I think it made a bad offensive line look much better then it really is, and lets not forget that the Bills were playing with a lead all game. Then that lead came from all Tyrod's passing with four straight passes till the TD pass to Clay. The Bills were supposed to be a power running team this season with more running then passing, and so far the only player able to meet that power run criteria is Karlos Williams. Tyrod Taylor also gives the offense a big edge with his running ability. Still, there are a lot of things that can change before approaching the playoffs, and one of them is getting their O line coach Aaron Kromer back from his team suspension. Then the rookie at RG, and the 2nd year RT can always get better in the developmental process. -
Sammy - Time for this dude to start playing ball.
Nihilarian replied to jumbalaya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A fan started this thread because of his picking Sammy Watkins for his fantasy team hasn't paid off just yet, and he was whining about it. Do Nothing, and be patient! I made a positive post stating I'm patiently awaiting the days when Sammy will take over a game like some of the elite WR's today, and that the Bills might have found that elusive franchise QB that so very few teams have. Yet it gets misconstrued as I'm bashing Sammy. A brand new coaching staff is learning how to use all the weapons on the team. A new QB with just three game starts is learning how to throw from the pocket, and make plays with all the weapons at his disposal. -
This! and it shows what a quality OG can do. Like someone else said he was signed for one year, and I don't see Buffalo keeping him. I remember reading that some fans wanted to see him signed by Buffalo last season to eliminate that godawful Pears experiment at RG.

This! McCoy 11 rushes for 16 yards, and Dixon 5 rushes for -1 yards tells me where the upgrades are needed most. The most pressing need ATM is clearly at OT, and offensive center. This week both Tyrod Taylor with his roll outs, and running ability. Along with Karlos Williams, and his power run game in the 4th quarter made that woeful offensive line look so much better then it is. What we don't know is if those tactics will work against every team as defenses will adapt to fit what the opposing offense is doing. We can all now see the difference a top OG can make with Incognito at LG. Sadly its a five man line, and its only as good as its weakest link /s. I can see the Bills being a serious super bowl contender with a few positions upgraded.

Top 5 teams in the AFC right now
Nihilarian replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1) NE kinda sad that Tom Brady will face that 4 game suspension THIS Year after all. http://news.yahoo.com/nfl-source-tom-brady-serve-131628730.html 2) Denver's defense is the real deal this year with Wade Phillips as DC. QB Manning, and HC Kubiak still working out the kinks in the new system, and their O line is in bad flux. Should they get their run game going with Kubiak's power / zone run scheme then they could be in the SB this season. 3) Cincy looks like the real deal with Dalton playing very well, and their run game is solid. This team may have one of the best offensive lines in the league, and a decent defense too. could also be in the SB this year. 4) Buffalo-NY Jets-Pittsburgh-Oakland all 2-1 right now, and KC to play tonight. Pittsburgh, with Big Ben out for a month they don't look like a serious contender with their bad O line, and defense. But ya never know. Buffalo, looking good but the O line is still a concern against good defenses. Seems that rolling out Tyrod, and Karlos Williams power nullified those worries this week. NY Jets, are looking typical Jets with a top 5 defense, and a mediocre offense Fitz at QB 20th ranked O. Not a contender with Fitz at QB. Oakland, believe it or not the Raiders have a top 10 offense, and still one of the worst defenses in the league. Not a contender this year. Kansas, we will find out more after tonight. Could be a decent contender for a WC Baltimore, might be the best 0-3 team in the NFL, and always a contender for a WC San Diego, might have all the weapons to be a contender, and once they get TE Gates back by the 4th game they could be serious contender for a WC. Indy 1-2 their HC could be fired right after the Dolphins fire theirs. Miami, 1-2 in disarry not a contender Jacksonville, not a contender Tennessee, not a contender Cleveland, not a contender Houston, not a contender Seriously, its still way to early in the season to know what will happen at the end. Lets revisit this thread around week 9 or 10. -
P.S. Some of you guys get way to fired up over some terminology. Seriously, who cares. It was an excellent win against a hated foe! We are all brothers here, all Bills fans. RELAX. Oh I dunno, Indy is currently 1-2 with 56 Points For, and 80 Points Against. The Colts might just be another team that fires their HC before the season ends. They just beat another bad team at home in Indy in the Titans, barely 35-33 The AFC South sucks this year, as all four teams are 1-2
-
It certainly helps to play a team that looks to be in total disarray!! I wouldn't be surprised if the Dolphins owner fires the current HC after a few more games like the one against the Bills. Both Karlos Williams, and Tyrod Taylor helped make a bad offensive line a non issue this week with their outstanding play. It remains to be seen if the Bills were really that good or the Dolphins were really that bad, and I'm thinking its the latter. The Bills lost to a playoff type team in the Patriots, and blew away two bad teams like the Colts, Dolphins. The 1-2 NY Ginats next- Then the Vols, err the 1-2 Titens- Then another playoff type team in the 3-0 Bungals Then the 1-2 Jugs.

Sammy - Time for this dude to start playing ball.
Nihilarian replied to jumbalaya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pissing into the wind dude. Bills fans don't want to admit the Buffalo overpaid for Watkins or that he seems to be constantly playing injured or fragile because last year it always seemed like he was playing with an injury, hamstring, ribs, hip surgery, and now this year with a calf injury. Then last season he was being coached by mental midgets who opted to use him as a decoy because they couldn't figure out how to get him into space. Some of us are still patiently waiting for Sammy to step up into the elite world of a Julio Jones, AJ Green, Antonio Brown type WR's who can single handedly take over a game with 10+ catches for over a 100+ yards, and multiple TD's Look at Julio's Numbers for the first three games. first game 12 rec for 141 yards, 2 TDs. second game 13 rec for 135 yards. third game 12 rec for 164 yards, 2 TD's Sammy's numbers first game this year 0-0-0, second game, 6 rec, 60 yards, 1 TD. third game. 1 rec for 39 yards. Just be content to be happy that the Bills might have finally found a QB good enough to get the receivers the ball on a regular basis, and we will see what the future brings. What gets me is Sammy was particularly great in one aspect at Clemson, and that was in screen passes. Has Watkins even been in a screen pass play in Buffalo? Get...the...kid...in...space!!! -
How did NE figure out our offense so quick?
Nihilarian replied to PortlandiaEast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hello again PatsFanNH. Apparently no Bills fan here is willing to admit that the Patriots stacked the box to shut down the run, and bring quick heavy pressure to the Bills QB. Finally someone besides myself that actually noticed that when the Patriots stacked the box (after the first Bills drive for a TD), and were able to get a quick rush on Tayloy he looked indecisive, and lost. Then later with the game well in hand the Patriots started laying back into coverage, and only rushed 3-4 in the fourth quarter. This allowed Taylor to engineer a decent comeback. The Buffalo Bills HC played right into Brady's hand by not blitzing, and at least attempting to knock him out of rhythm. Instead I was witness to the most ridiculous defensive scheme ever. Which sent DE Jerry Hughes into pass coverage on Gronk, and DT Kyle Williams into pass coverage some plays. Rex Ryan stated after the game he was out coached, and he was. -
[Please Change Title]Tyrod
Nihilarian replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to pee in the proverbial cheerios but RG3, Kaepernick looked great their first years starting, and then something fell on their heads. What this young man does throughout the season, and in all circumstances is what matters most. This team getting to the playoffs, and then making an impact among the best teams in the league, and then we will see what sort of stuff he is made of... This +100 But heck yea, its great to have such a mobile QB that makes a lousy offensive line look so much better then it really is, and same thing with RB Karlos Williams with 12 rushes for over 100 yards, and a TD. OTOH, the Patriots showed how to shut down Tyrod for 3/4, and then let off the gas enough for Taylor to get a hot hand, apparently Miami wasn't watching how to stack the box. Looking at the Bills upcoming opponents before the bye the only one I'm concerned about is the Bengals, and that game is in Buffalo. possibly 5-2 or better at the bye. NY Giants @ Tennessee Cincinnati @ Jacksonville -

Tyrod!! who got it done it done with help. -
The Bills still moved the ball with Sammy & Shady injured, and the offense can only get better with both at 100%. Tyrod looks to be the real deal for the Bills in a long awaited need for a franchise QB. 21 of 29 for 277 yards, and 3 TD's no INTs. He is currently making a not so good O line a non issue. Percy Harvin stepped up when needed, and Karlos Williams is a beast with 110 yards on 12 carries, and a TD. So much to like about Buffalo after a game like this.
