It's the very same playbook that Brian Daboll used to run, the same scheme. Yet, when the OC sees his QB throw INTs on particular plays over and over...take them out of the playbook. Ken Dorsey did not do that. it's that the offense has been predictable under Dorsey and far too dependent on the player execution to make the play work. It has also been far too simple that defenses can lay back and know what's coming as they sit on routes. However, Brian Daboll was a wizard in his play calls, passing concepts that would have defenses so confused. We need to see what this new OC can do. Hopefully much better.

This offense has been far, far too predictable under Dorsey. Opposing teams know what is coming and unless the Buffalo offensive players play perfectly it's doomed to fail. The offense might be complex to a degree but its plays have been simple for teams to diagnose. Hopefully, this changes this week with a different OC.

About time too. Not putting James Cook back in after getting the ball ripped out in order to help him regain confidence was not the right thing to do. Ken Dorsey turned Josh Allen into Sam Darnold...If you consistently throw an interception on one particular pass play...take it out of the playbook.
-
Mistakes are killing this team. Josh Allen has turned into Sam Darnold...Ken Dorsey doesn't seem to be the answer on offense. All these losing teams playing Buffalo it's like their Super Bowl as they have watched the Bills in the playoffs the last few years and against all these teams the Bills no longer get overlooked. They study Buffalo hard and are overjoyed to beat them.

Kalir Shakir has 19 targets, 18 receptions a 94.7 catch percentage. With a success percentage of 84.2

How did Tom Brady get to so many Super Bowls? Just by moving the chains first down after first down and then punching it in the end zone. Down after down, game after game with arguably only one really great superstar WR in Randy Moss. Although they had some extraordinary other receivers in Dion Branch, Troy Brown, Gronk, and those mega-chain movers in Wes Welker along with Julian Edelman. Buffalo is using that very same scheme (Erhardt-Perkins) and when they had the Bease doing his Welker imitation they moved the chains every well. The Bills might have that mega-chain mover already in Dalton Kincade along with Shakir, Harty, or Sherfield but the WRs need to see the ball more. Can't get 10 yards in 3 tries? Sherfield has only seen 10 targets with 7 receptions 70%. Harty has seen 17 targets and 13 receptions 76.5% SHAKIR, 19 targets 18 receptions for a 94.7% YOWIE! Kincade had 45 targets, and 40 receptions for 88.9 %. These numbers are for the entire season so far! I look at those numbers and ask why isn't Shakir in the slot doing Beasley's old job in moving the chains down after down and game after game. You know, just like they did in 2021 with Diggs getting 164 targets and Bease getting 112. Dorsey, don't you even see what your players are doing?
-
Dislike saying it...Josh looking like he is regressing. I mean, how hard is it to move the ball 10 yards in 3 tries? The Buffalo offense goes invisible for 3 quarters...why? The team lacks discipline... and that's the HC. The thing is... great teams can run the same plays over and over and few can stop them. They know what's coming and still can't stop it. You know, kinda like Mahomes to Kelce.

Ken Dorsey is a currently bad NFL OC to a point. He has arguably the best QB in the NFL and he is wasting him. He simply doesn't have the experience to guide this team to an SB. The Bills can sometimes beat bad teams as they play to their competition at times. This Bengals game showed how out-coached this team has been all season. They nearly lost to the NY Giants and Buccaneers and had that happened they would be easily be 3-6. Holy crap that really sucks. Still. 5-4 and currently out of the playoff picture. Buffalo still has 3-5 Denver, 4-4 NY Jets, @ 8-1 Eagles, @ 7-2 Chiefs, 5-3 Cowboys, @ 4-4 Chargers, 2-7 Patriots, and @ 6-3 Dolphins. So, even if they beat the teams they should beat, Denver, Jets, @ Chargers, and Patriots =9 wins While losing to the better teams in the league, @ Eagles, @ Chiefs, Cowboys, and Dolphins = 8 losses which equal a 9-8 record. At this point, I don't see how they even finish with a winning record. as they could lose to the Broncos, Jets, Chargers, or Patriots. Hell, how did the crappy Patriots beat them by scoring 29 points? They have a -93 point differential. The offense has been their downfall since that Jags game. Change is gonna happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and if McD were smart he would get ahead of it. Yeah, I still dream they could still get to 13-4 and see the Ravens in the AFC Championship game...then I woke up!

Buffalo was clearly out-coached in the game. The Bills play reactive instead of proactive. The Bengals look at the weakness of the team and attack on both sides of the ball. Sure, the bills are going to bracket Chase. So they pull some TEs off the practice squad and attack you with players you have no film on. How pathetic. On offense, Bills OC Ken Dorsey used all his tricks up against the Raiders, Commanders, and Dolphins. Now teams know what's coming and even bad teams like the Patriots, and Giants give them fits. Buffalo was lucky to beat the NY Giants and Buccaneers. The Buffalo offense needs to remove its cranium from its posterior ...that begins with Dorsey growing a brain with some innovation. Use more Play action and actually work the run game. Their biggest excuse was OH, we were down 21-7...we can't run...what bullcrap.

McD did rid the team of Rick Dennison after the 2017 season. The next OC was Brian Daboll who was actually worse that first season in Buffalo going 30th in both points and yards. The Buffalo Bills are currently 5th overall in both points and yards so I don't see McD making a change right now. HOWEVER, If he doesn't like all this losing he might give QB coach Joe Brady a shot at calling plays while keeping the status quo. Line coach Mike Schula might get a shot too. I have no idea what former Baltimore Ravens OC Greg Roman is doing but it might be wise to hire him right now as a run game consultant or even a run game coordinator. If there is one thing Roman knows...it is how to run the ball. Heck, it's not rocket science. When the opponent goes to an 8-man front to stop the run simply bring in more O linemen. I don't get why this team can't run with a talent like Cook at RB.
-
ROFL, he seriously can't get it into second gear. Really kind of sad that with a roster as talented as this one is with Allen, Diggs, Kincade, Cook, and Davis, the best O line in years. That this man can't figure out how to work a run game. Should be the easiest part of an offense because those big ole boys love moving others outta the way. Can't run a screenplay to save a life. No misdirection plays. Ex-Packer, Seahawk HC Mike Holmgren used to make his players work a run play in practice until they perfected it, over and over and over again until perfect. I guess they do things differently these days. Probably why they can't run simple screenplays that actually work.

Poll: Top reason for the Offense's underperformance
Nihilarian replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall
While I kind of agree that Dorsey does suck at times. It's mostly because he isn't innovative enough to get the Buffalo run game going with Cook or whoever the RB is... Buffalo needs Josh Allen under center and that run game working no matter how many the opponent stacks in a box. Key word, innovative! -
What I see is that Dorsey has no plan B! The Bills build good rushing attacks in the Raiders, Commanders, and Dolphins games, and when the Jags go to an 8-man box he has no answer. The Buffalo offense showed that with Allen under center while actually running the ball the offense was very effective and explosive. Rush against the Jaguars, 14 rushes for 29 yards and the one rushing TD was by the QB. No plan B! Rush against the Bengals, 16 rushes for 68 yards and the one TD by the QB...again. QB Josh Allen 8 attempts for 44 yards. This means the Buffalo RBs had 8 attempts all game, 6 for Cook, and 2 for Murray. Buffalo had 2 turnovers and only had 23:22 min time of possession. QB Josh Allen should make ANY OC look good. All he needs is help with a decent run game and Dorsey can't seem to do that for him every game. What good is an OC who refuses to even try to find ways to have his RBs... you know..actually run the ball! Time for a change!

Why does Buffalo carry running backs on their roster?
Nihilarian replied to The Helmet of's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nothing we can do as Buffalo Bills fans... except piss, B word, and moan which we seem to do a lot of after every loss. I still can't believe that this year's team lost to the NE Patriots, manhandled by the Jags and almost beaten by the NY Giants and Bucs. What gets me is that it is the offense that's fallen on its face game after game. The defense did allow the Patriots to put up 29 points though. What's going on with the offense? #5 overall offense in the NFL and yet they can't get out of their own way at times If only this team could run the ball like they did against the Raiders, Commanders, and Dolphins. Rushing, 35 for 183 2 TDs against the Raiders Rushing, 33 for 163 2 TDs against the Commanders Rushing 29 for 104 2 TDs against the Dolphins. Clearly, when Josh Allen is under center and they have a commitment to run the ball they seem to dominate on offense. The Jags did go with an 8 man box to stop the run. Seems unbelievable to me that Buffalo OC Ken Dorsey couldn't figure out a way to counter that or get the run game working in other games. -
The Bills are done, stick a fork in them

A sad time to be a Bills fan after a loss where the defense looked lost and after that first Buffalo dive the offense looked lost too -
Why does Buffalo carry running backs on their roster?
Nihilarian replied to The Helmet of's topic in The Stadium Wall
The more things change...Josh Allen was the Buffalo Bills leading rusher in this game. 8 carries for 44 yards and a TD James Cook 6 carries for 20 yards a 3.3 YPC AVG. Murray 2 carries for 4 yards, a 2.0 YPC AVG. That first Buffalo drive game me hope that we might see an explosive game...until the second drive...
