  1. Why do Bills fans throw up other teams as a reference, and think it means something? Particularly the world Champion Patriots with known top coaches. This isn't a franchise that has an already established elite QB that can make do with less. This team hasn't had the same offensive system, and same head coach for the last 15 years. This is the Buffalo Bills we are discussing, and they fielded the worst offensive line in the league for the better part of last year. If you actually read my post it was in reference to next season in which the Buffalo Bills could lose the currently two best players on the offensive line in LT Cordy Glenn, LG Richie Incognito. The Bills current starting center should be replaced because he isn't anywhere near as good as he was a few short years ago. The entire right side of the line has been a let down again this season. Henderson still not playing like a starting RT should, and neither is his backup in Kouandjio. Rookie RG isn't playing all that well either, and really should be a backup so he can develop. The backup RG is a complete waste of space, and kinda surprised he is even still on the team. If you think the 2014 offensive line was a disaster just wait for 2016, and the Bills could set records for being bad if they lose both Glenn, and Incognito. That with a new rookie QB to boot! Might as well have him join TT & EJ so the team can reminisce about the 2013 Bills season with three young QB's behind a bad line again.
  2. Agree, but Its gotta be very difficult to sit, and not play while reading crap being said about you from various sources. After reading all the stuff that's said on this site alone I think I'd keep to myself, and not read any of it. its gotta be exceedingly tough to be burning to be a great NFL player only to be injured, and when you do play be the proverbial decoy WR on the team instead of the main target.
  3. Bills OC Roman and the offense is not the problem we are currently discussing, and besides he has two very young inexperienced QB's he has to deal with. Losing so many players to injuries, and missing the offensive line coach for the first seven games. The defense, and Ryan's big mouth is what the issue here is, and its not all about DC Dennis Thurman either because Ryan is the supposed defensive genius. This is his defense we are seeing on the field, and he sets up the games plans. Rex is not fine as a HC mostly because his entire team lacks discipline, on offense, on defense, on special teams. His team leads the the league in penalties. His Jets team from last year is a better team this year with a new head coach, and they have already gotten as many wins as Ryan did all last year. Ryan himself stated that this is the most talent he has ever had on a defense, and he simply doesn't know how to utilize the players. The Bills defense was #1 in the NFL in sacks last year, and #2 in the NFL in 2013. This year the team is 27th in sacks, and his defense is just not getting the pressure on the QB that they have the previous two years. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/25303009/dareus-williams-join-rex-ryan-in-giving-patriots-bulletin-board-material To the Bills fans here that just don't get why all the trash talk doesn't work, and in fact motivates the opponent. Ryan did so much trash talk leading up to the Bills- Patriots game that even the players, and fans joined in. After the Indy game fans were chanting we want Brady, we want Brady! Some fan had the Guinness book of records in Buffalo for that game. Stores were selling inflating ball pumps a clear shot a deflategate. Don't think it mattered to the Patriots or Tom Brady? Brady set a Buffalo Bills franchise worst (in the 55 year history of the team) 466 yards passing allowed by a single player, and the second most passing yards in Brady's entire career. the Bills defense allowed 507 yards of offense, and allowed 28 first downs. "Discipline was also a big problem. The Bills were penalized 14 times for 140 yards." "And when it came time to have the last word, Brady shrugged by saying he could have done even better." http://www.wcvb.com/news/tom-brady-throws-three-touchdowns-in-4032-win-over-the-buffalo-bills/35382380 So, if you want to believe that trash talking by a HC at another team doesn't help motivate them to beat you, that's fine. I get it, that you don't get it.
  4. This! Its seems the fans and the FO wants to continually bring in new lambs for the slaughter without building the proper supporting cast first. Take a long hard look at last year with a veteran QB in Kyle Orton who couldn't get it done behind the worst O line in the league, and that was also with the #4 defense in the NFL. That defense lead the league in QB pressures, and sacks too. Next year the Bills might not keep either LT Cordy Glenn or LG Richie Incognito, and thus have the worst line in the league again.
  5. Some points of interest in the bolded. So many failings of this years team due to bad coaching. The injuries aside I don't see how this team overcomes so many problems. Penalties !! Special teams coverage units stink with basically the very same players!! The defense, and the lack of QB pressures!! What everyone thought would be the highlight of the team has somehow been castrated by a supposed defensive genius.
  6. Everything will depend on how the team finishes this season, and I mean everything! Anything less then 7-9, and I think the Pegula's blow this whole thing up by hiring that Football czar that they talked about hiring. A new team president of football operations isn't going to want someones else's choice at HC, or GM either. Bill Polian already stated he would make a change with the GM by hiring former Charger GM AJ Smith. Look at the 4-12 NY Jets from last year, and this year it just goes to show that teams don't need to completely rebuild a roster to build a winning team. They changed the GM, HC and are winning. They even resurrected "noodle arm" Ryan Fitzpatrick from the scrap heap, and are winning.
  7. My response in another thread I think the Bills offense would have looked entirely different with Sammy, Percy and Goodwin in there this week. Lets not forget this is Greg Romans first season as OC and its only been seven games so far. This years offense hasn't had a chance to gel or get a strong semblance of cohesion simply because of all the injuries all season. That said the Bills are #8 in points scored, and 25th in yards which is better then last year.
  8. No! Geno has been back and healthy and sitting on the bench where he should be. Fitz is actually playing pretty well behind a good line with a solid run game, and they do have the #1 defense in the NFL. Now gonna be a sweep from what I see.
  9. Derek Carr was selected in the 2nd round of the 2014 draft with the #36 overall pick.
  10. and some Bills fans thinks he deserves a shot in Buffalo
  11. I agree with some of this. What a disaster the offensive line is looking like with LT Glenn a free agent, and Incognito could be gone after this year. Incognito is this teams best offensive lineman, and he has kept his mouth shut, nose clean. Because of that he will get long hard looks from other teams simply because top rated O line players are exceedingly more, and more difficult to find, obtain, At this point both RT's Henderson, and Kouandjio are looking like backups that need more time to develop, as does RG John Miller. The fact that Urbik is still on this team just shows that very few in the Bills scouting dept knows what a quality OG looks like, or any O linemen for that matter. It was Rex Ryan who wanted Incognito. The center position is also a concern as Wood looks to be regressing. RB Karlos Williams might be a lost cause if he should sustain more concussions considering the way he runs. Boobie Dixon doesn't look like he is worth keeping. The Texans had a difficult time with Mario Williams at LB / DE with Wade Phillips as DC so they let him leave. He was a perfect fit in Schwartz's wide nine scheme, and now looking in Buffalo like he did with Wade as his DC. While i like the acquisition of LeSean McCoy even at 5,or 6 Mill per. It makes little sense to me to not finish properly building the offensive line like the GM wanted to with OG Jahri Evans, OT Brian Bulaga to give McCoy a better line to run behind. Not to mention developing another young QB with a less then solid line...again for the third straight year. JMO
  12. Yep, took the 4 mill, and bailed. Probably from reading the hype he would be the next HC of the NY Jets. I for one am glad Marrone, Hackett are gone from Buffalo. I just wish the owners had done a more careful search for a new HC. Dan Quinn looking darn good in Atlanta. Todd Bowles looking darn good in NY
  13. This just shows the stupidity at the top of the flow chart in wasted first round picks. JP Losman 2004 & 2005 two first rounders...really? , John McCargo 2006 , Marshawn Lynch 2007 only three and a half years in Bflo, and five and a half years in Seattle a 5 time pro bowler with 6 1000 yard seasons now looking like a future HoF RB for a fourth round pick Aaron Maybin 2009 CJ Spiller 2010 a RB when the team was desperate for a LT Sammy Watkins two first rounders for a fragile WR when the team still doesn't have a franchise QB, 2014 & 2015 and it is ongoing...In 2014 the Bills could have drafted Odell Beckham Jr, then traded up, and gotten QB Derek Carr in the 2nd round who is looking like the real deal in Oakland. Plus, they would still have had that 2015 first round pick. When will this team ever see that franchise QB again?
  14. I kinda think they realize it now! When asked by a reporter on 60 min sports "what are the missing pieces" Kim Pegula stated QB, and Terry hemmed and hawed. From what I understand Terry is the hockey lover, and football watcher. While Kim is the football lover, and hockey watcher is just my opinion. These people didn't become billionaires by sheer luck, and are in fact brilliant at whatever they get involved in. There was initial talk that the Pegula's would hire a football czar to oversee the football operations side of the team, and that never came about once Bill Polian backed out. This team needs someone at the top of the flow chart with the experience in building a playoff team like Polian.
  15. You know as well as anyone that should the Bills draft a QB with the #1 pick they will play him because they don't have a veteran starter. This isn't Green Bay. He will probably end up just like Trent Edwards, and Bills fans will then say he didn't make it because he sucked from the start.
  16. Yea man, I wouldn't want to follow this man into a real battle. Another Herbert M Sobel in Band of Brothers, who couldn't find his arse with a map.
  17. No he wouldn't! Because, This! and this! I suppose the OP will want to trade for Colin Kaepernick next.
  18. More to the point is what didn't he say. http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/20977/rex-ryans-quips-jabs-help-build-anticipation-for-bills-patriots What happened next was all his bravado spilled over to the players coming out and stating how much they hate the Patriots. This type of behavior is what fires up an opponent, and is the exact opposite of what Patriots HC Bill Belichick would allow. Yea, lets give the world champions even more reason to want to beat our team. "Now, Bills players have chimed in and added fuel to the fire." "Don't nobody likes the Patriots," Marcell Dareus said via Mike Rodak of ESPN. "Let's just be honest about it now. Put it out there." http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/buffalo-bills-new-england-patriots-marcell-dareus-aaron-williams-091515
  19. If Dave Wannstedt showed the world anything in Buffalo as the defensive coordinator its that just rushing with the front four doesn't get it done, and never will despite how much money they are being paid. While ole Dave showed what not to do. Both Jim Schwartz, and Mike Pettine showed how and what to do running a 3-4 or 4-3. A lot of the time using single coverage in the secondary while rushing with more then are defending is usually what worked best in Pettine's overload blitz. Fans were even complaining that Schwartz didn't blitz enough, and that sometimes Pettine blitzed to much. The reality is that both those men put a lot of pressure on opposing QB's which is something that has been greatly lacking this year. The Bills are currently ranked #16 in the turnover differential at 0, and have gotten to #11 in total defense while still #22 in passing defense. The Bills are currently 24th in sacks, and 29th in sack percentage. That sack %, and sacks are a far cry from being #1 last year, and #2 the year before. Perhaps Ryan needs to simplify his complex defense, and just get after the QB like Pettine, Schwartz were able to do. That was an amazing game at the end where Flacco throws an INT into the end zone to end the game. I want a defense like Arizona has with all that Blitzing they do, and to Flacco's credit he managed to make so many plays while under great duress. That is until the end
  20. To the first sentence. Telling the world you are going to build a bully is about one of the stupidest things you can say in today's world, as bullies are cowards! It is indeed discouraging to hear that the Pegula's gave Ryan a five year deal for five million a year. Perhaps it was the same people that gave Doug Marrone a 4 million dollar out clause. Still, they can easily afford to change their minds on this hire at any point. If i'm not mistaken the hiring of Ryan came from the team CEO telling the new owners that "they" would know who to hire after talking with all the candidates. We know that Terry, Kim, Whaley, and Brandon were all in the room when they hired Rex Ryan. So, lets just hope after this season that the new owners finally hire that football czar they were about to hire in Bill Polian. Even the NFL prompted the new owners to hire a senior NFL adviser to help guide them in the process of owning an NFL team. I also hope they realize that they just don't have the football knowledge in hiring an NFL head coach or we will see more years like this one. Or worse be the next Washington Redskins.
  21. Sometimes those type of games need to happen to build character, and light a fire. It would be completely different if EJ continued to suck all game like Geno, and instead fought his way back outta that huge hole he dug himself. Fans might even be more forgiving had the defense not allowed Bortles that last TD. Not all QB's develop at the same pace, and some take more then four years to completely develop to a starting level QB. EJ still has the arm, and physical tools so it is still possible for him to improve with the mental aspect. EJ did seem to look a whole lot better when he had less time to think while running the hurry up offense. Then remember his first two seasons were with the mutt & Jeff show. I can only think that the entire offense would be better without all the injuries, and with a better line. Then both those young QB's might look a lot better.
  22. It was a streaming pile of dog crap, and should it come to that I have to pay for that... then I'll decline. Let me expound a bit, a new state of the art computer with 32 gig of ram, and a GTX 980 video card with RR Turbo. The game was constantly flickering in and out of HD, and buffering now and then.
  23. Granted, as I'm not going to argue each QB's case. But three of those four QB's are noted for either running away from pressure or holding the ball to long while waiting for their receivers to get open. Thus making their lines look worse then they should. Wilson's line is a lot worse this year, and probably a big reason why they are losing more games this year. The Rams sacked Wilson 6 times, the Bears 4 sacks, the Lions 6 sacks, the Bengals 4 sacks, Carolina 4 sacks, and SF 6 sacks. Jeez! At this rate I'll be surprised if he survives the season. Those four QB's are all very unique, and the Buffalo Bills haven't seen the like since Jim Kelly. Who BTW had an excellent offensive line with several all pros. Alas, any rookie QB needs to get the actual game experience to be able to get to the point where they can adequately read pressures, blitzes and call protections. Its called developing the player. Its not that the Buffalo Bills have been bad the last 15 years solely because they didn't have that franchise QB. Because they had a #1 overall draft pick in QB Drew Bledsoe who could tear any team a new one as long as he wasn't getting hit. Once they acquired Drew they tried, and failed to build the line by drafting LT Mike D Williams who ended up as a bad RT. The franchise seemed to give up on drafting O linemen or obtaining a top QB after that for the longest time. QB Trent Edwards looked like he could be the guy briefly before he was severely concussed over, and over. Its not only about the line either, as the coaching staff, and supporting skill position cast is also very important.
