Is Cyrus Kouandjio Still a Bust?

Yeah man, I agree. What does it say about the RT situation that the starter was signed midseason away from the Lions practice squad! Still, Mills is better than the rest and it's why I worry about the young QB this year. -

Yea well, watch the highlights of that 2014 Raiders game I posted earlier to how "air" Henderson did against Mack. It was brutal and a big reason why he graded worse than the worse RG in the league in Erik Pears @ -25. Hmmm, -2 for one brutal play... -

I agree. When you think of what kind of grade the Buffalo Bills put on players in the draft and 9.0 being the highest. You would have to think that Sammy Watkins was a 8.0 or a 9.0 to be worth two firsts and a fourth. THE PLAYER GRADING SCALE Most teams use a grading scale from 1.0-to-9.0 to evaluate players (some teams only go up to 8.0). The only 9.0 grade that Ron Wolf has ever given, Lillibridge told me, was for Bo Jackson. A 9.0 is a generational talent, and that's so rare that it's not even worth mentioning. So, in practice, an 8.0 scale is used. Greg Gabriel breaks it down thusly: 8.0 grade: Special player, will impact a game and dominate at his position 7.0 grade: A potential pro bowler, a player you win because of 6.5 grade: A solid rank and file starter you could win with 6.0 grade: A solid backup who could start, but limited 5.5 grade: A role player but not a starter. A specialist 5.0 grade: A talented player, but not draftable. Developmental "If you’re a 7.0 and above, you expect that person to be a starter in year one and then eventually, a Pro Bowl player, "Lillibridge said. "That’s what you’re looking at when you’re looking at the first two rounds." http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/3/6/5473554/2014-nfl-draft-scouting-process-big-board The reality is that so far five wide receivers from that 2014 draft class put up better numbers in 2015 with Watkins being the 22nd best WR in terms of yardage. Beckham #5, Robinson #6, Evans #11, Landry 13th, Cooks #14, Watkins #22. Then Sammy was fourth best in 2014 and ranked as the 24th best WR. Beckham #10, Evans #19, Benjamin #21, Watkins 24th. Here is another take on that 2014 draft class. http://rotoviz.com/2014/01/2014-nfl-draft-sammy-watkins-mike-evans-and-the-early-wide-receiver-rankings/ When you look at the offensive players drafted over the last few years I come away thinking this teams scouting dept isn't nearly as good in evaluating offensive talent as they are on the defensive side. The mere fact that the Bills were ready to draft TE Eric Ebron at #9 also says this. 2013 EJ Manuel, Robert Woods, Goodwin, Dustin Hopkins, Chris Gragg. 2014 Sammy Watkins, Cyrus Kounandjio, Cyril Richardson, Seantrel HO'Learyn. 2015 John Miller, Karlos Williams, Nick O'leary, Dezmin Lewis. 2016 too soon to judge. What really bugs me is that right after that 2014 draft I read that the team was saying that they still needed that big, tall elite red zone threat. If this was the case then why not trade up for Mike Evans or trade back for Kelvin Benjamin? Anyway, nobody here is denying Sammy's talent. It's just that so far it looks like the Bills overvalued his talent and there are others from the same draft class with equal or better talent. So far it does look like the Bills paid too much. -
Keep Whaley and hire a team president of football operations to run the football side of things. This adds total accountability and keeps the owner from making the football decisions.

This! Last in the NFL in QB pressures and defensive hurries in 2015 left the Bills secondary out to dry like two week old wash in so many games. The single most important progress would be to up the sacks and QB pressures will help an already really good secondary so much. The first four games will tell so much about what's in store for the rest of the season.

You do realize that in 2014 the Bills suddenly went pass happy after the second game calling more passes every game over what they did in 2013 in running the ball more. EJ fell on his face when forced to carry the game with his arm. (2013 522 pass attempts vs 546 rushing attempts) (2014 579 pass attempts vs 402 rushing attempts) Then take into consideration that usually in every game that EJ was forced to throw more than the team ran the ball the team usually lost, regardless of the games situations. (2013 Games in which EJ played) NE 21-23 L (34 rushes-27 passes) Carolina 24-23 W (33 rushes-39 passes)**** NY Jets 27-20 L (25 rushes-42 passes) Baltimore 23-20 W (55 rushes-22 passes) Cleveland 37-24 L (31 rushes-40 passes) Pittsburgh 23-10 L (22 rushes-39 passes) NY Jets 37-14 W (38 rushes-28 passes) Atlanta 34-31 L (31 rushes-32 passes) Tampa 27-6 L (22 rushes-33 passes) Jacksonville 20-27 W (44 rushes- 24 passes) Miami 19-0 W (51 rushes-25 passes) NE 34-20 L (35 rushes-29 passes) Now, looking back on that season I think we can see that there is a direct correlation in that when the team ran more than they threw it they usually (but not always) won. Conversely, when the team passed more than they threw it they usually lost. (only one win against Carolina) 2014, Chicago 20-23 W (33 rushes-22 Passes) Miami 29-10 W (33 rushes-26 passes) San Diego 22-10 L (22 rushes-40 passes) Houston 23-17 L (23 rushes-43 passes) Kyle Orton came in for week 5 and the Bills were still going pass happy by calling more pass plays every game and usually to the tune of only 20 runs vs 40 passes. Trust me, EJ would have gotten destroyed behind that craptastic 2014 O-line. Now if you look at the 2015 stats, 465 passing attempts vs 509 attempts rushing and when you look game by game you would see that whenever the team was able to establish and maintain a strong run game they usually won. So the same thing happened with both EJ and Tyrod Taylor last season. With young QB's it makes sense to help them out with a strong run game. Don't let the hate get ya. I still contend that with a better line in 2014 the Bills not only make the playoffs but they win some playoff games. -

The way I look at things is the Bills have one elite player on their offensive line at LG and his stellar play last season helped elevate the play of the center and LT. I suppose fans have a short memory and forget how both Wood and Glenn looked in 2014 as both had a down season. The 2014 Bills O-line graded at 30th at the end of the season was ranked 32nd for most of the year and as I've stated previously Pears at OG was a complete disaster and yet Henderson graded worse. The team threw the ball quite a bit in 2014 probably in an effort to make the Watkins trade look worthwhile and while QB Kyle Orton gets a bad rap by most Bills fans. The guy did manage to go 7-5 and throw for 3000 yards in 12 games with 18TD's and 10 INT's and was only sacked 33 times mostly because like Fitz, as a veteran QB, he was able to find the open receiver and get them the ball before the pass rush got to him. So, while the 2014 line didn't grade very well and were 23rd in pass blocking they were 32nd in run blocking. The game I can't get out of my head is how poorly the line run blocked against the Raiders. With a playoff berth on the line, the Bills rushed only 13 times for 13 yards and this was against the Raiders 32nd run defense! I mean WTF! I watched in horror as Urbik was getting shoved 5 yards behind the line time after time by some scrub DT so Spiller ended the game with 4 rushes for -4 yards and even Freddy had only 6 attempts for 10 yards rushing. Looking back at that season you have to think that having that bad an offensive line didn't really affect the team that much because of Orton and yet I think had EJ been forced to play that entire season the Bills win maybe 3-4 games instead of 9. With a better line and being able to run the ball at will, the Bills make the playoffs that year IMHO. The Bills having some top quality players at RG, RT means the team wouldn't have holes in the line for defenses to exploit and could dictate where they wanted to go with the ball at any time. (like those 90's Bills used to do) Rather than looking to see what holes they could exploit in the defense. One reason that allowed the Bills to get those big runs in the fourth quarter last season was because the opposing defense gets tired of chasing down the RB's all game and will allow those big plays later in the game. That is a great part of having a strong running attack. At one point Doug Whaley attempted to obtain OG Jahri Evans and RT Brian Bulaga and those two chose to stay with their respective teams. In my view a darn shame he didn't continue to attempt to upgrade that right side with quality talent. -
The Bills are Going to the Playoffs This Year (Part 1)

He is inebriated by the exuberance of his own exuberance or the Kool-Aid is really southern comfort... There is no doubt that this team is loaded with talent in various areas and really should have made the playoffs last season. While I'm not as optimistic about the team as some. I'm also more pessimistic about the defensive coaching staff in working on a decent game plan each and every week and getting the unit back into the top ten. -

Nihilarian replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watkins may have 2000 yard seasons in his ceiling, I just kinda doubt we will ever see that in Rex's / Roman's power, run-first offense. Marrone ran that same run-centric offense in 2013, so I questioned the need for an elite WR costing that many resources. Plus, Sammy needs that elite QB that can throw enough to even get him the ball that much. Not to mention that although there were several attempts to upgrade the line in the 2014 draft and that really didn't succeed. Julio Jones in his 1871 yards receiving had a QB in Matt Ryan that threw for 4591 yards. Tyrod Taylor barely broke 3000 yards last season in 13 games and even in a 16 game scenario that's only around 3600 yards. Sammy might just have a Julio type season in him but we haven't seen it materialize just yet. So yeah, I agree that I think we will always disagree on this issue. The YPC Avg does show that the team still led the league in rushing with just the RB's. However, The Bills were still #1 in the league in rushing yards and the QB amassing 568 yards helped in that aspect. The sentence that was overlooked was the one stating that while the team led the league in big plays (runs of over 10 yards and pass plays over 25 yards) (Seems to me the fat guy the team just cut had a few of those runs over 10 yards.) Anyway, the bigger issue I mentioned was that in 2015 the offense was 31st in three and out percentage and that stat tells me the O-line wasn't as great as some make it out to be... A good Three-and-out Percentage suggests that a team is able to maintain possession of the football longer instead of quickly punting the ball away to the opposition. A bad percentage can indicate a team's offensive difficulty getting possessions off to a good start, or maintaining a sustained offense. The third point leaves me very skeptical due to the past history of backup linemen this team brings in year after year. Perhaps now with Kromer involved things will change for the better. I still have difficulty forgetting all the scrubby bums this team has attempted to get by with for so many years. Duke Preston-Langston Walker-Derrick Dockery-Demetress Bell- Kirk Chambers-Mansfield Wrotto-Cornel Green-Cordaro Howard-Ed Wang-Kyle Calloway-Chris Hairston-Sam Young-Chad Rinehart-Colin Brown-Chris Williams-David Snow-Doug Legursky-Zerbie Sanders-Mark Asper...and I'm sure there are others that I missed. In regards to #4 point, I think you do need to expend high picks on the offensive line and in particular the center, LG, and LT. RT and RG not so much with a right handed QB. Continuity is very important and if your team is going to be facing the very best defensive players in the post season. Well then, I would think you would want some of the best players protecting the QB. The Bills have a #1 at center and a #2 at LT. Incognito might be a 3rd rounder but he developed into solid pro bowler. HoF QB Jim Kelly had some of the best on the left side too and they were #1 picks. On the last point, I feel the Bills line on the left side is excellent and the right side is still very much unknown. Like you mentioned that defenses will move their best pass rushers towards the weakest players on that line. Granted Mills and Miller might just further develop into better starters this year. However, if they don't there could be serious problems protecting that young QB this season. I suppose I'm just jaded from the lack of QB success over the last 16 years with help from bad lines. Guess we need to wait and see in a few weeks. -

In regards to the Watkins trade up in using three draft picks on one player when the team needed more than an elite WR was foolish in my view. Mostly because the team didn't already have an established franchise QB just yet and didn't even have a solid offensive line to protect that young QB. (I'm not even going to go into who the best receivers were in a 2014 star studded WR draft class or the injury issues. Or the fact that the team would have gotten that first pick wrong by taking TE Eric Ebron had they been unable to make the trade to draft Watkins. Which also speaks about the offensive talent evaluation by this teams scouts / GM.) Simply put, to me moving up in the 2014 draft to expend three picks for a WR was like putting the cart before the horse in that the team had so many other holes than just needing an elite WR. In 2014 it was probably for the best that EJ was benched after a few games because I doubt a 2nd year QB would get the team to a 9-7 record playing behind the 30th worst ranked offensive line in the league and it was graded as the very worst line for most of the season. Erik Pears conversion to RG was an unmitigated disaster as he graded at a negative 25 and Henderson at RT graded even worse. Prior to the 2014 NFL draft, the Buffalo Bills were the #2 team in the NFL in rushing yards and #1 team in rushing attempts and yet had the 20th ranked offense that couldn't maintain ball possession (28th) even with all that running. The 2013 Bills were 25th in three and out percentage and got the nickname the "hurry up and punt" offense. That season the Bills offense was pretty bad in being 23rd in points for and 19th in yards. The team finished at 6-10. That 2013 Bills offensive line was ranked around 22nd overall and had a few stinkers on that line and most notably Colin Brown who started five games and the backup center in Doug Legursky who started in the remaining 11 games at LG. Upgrades were needed for the line considering the team was starting a QB going into his second season and the Bills looked determined to remedy the line situation in the 2014 draft in using three of the seven draft picks on offensive linemen. Just because the team is the league leader in rushing all season it doesn't necessarily mean the team has an effective offense in every area. The 2013 & 2015 Bills put up some really good rushing numbers and for different reasons. In 2015 the leading rusher was McCoy at 895 yards and in 2nd place was the QB Taylor with 568 yards rushing and the fat guy the team just cut had 517 yards and the most rushing TD's with 7. Tyrod Taylor running the ball when there was nobody open or about to take a sack is a big reason why the 2015 line looked so good and the rushing stats looked so good. The 2015 Bills offense led the league in big plays but were also 31st in three and out percentage. In regards to the bolded. The 2016 Bills offensive line is not the same as the 2015 line as veteran OG Kraig Urbik is no longer there to fill in when someone suffers an injury or plays poorly. Miller at RG in 12 games played very poorly at times in both pass and run blocking and Henderson who started 10 games in 2015 isn't starting at RT as Mills is now starting. The quality of the backups remains to be seen at OG, OC, and even RT. The right side of the line and backup players are very much in question in my view. The line didn't even start to look like a decent NFL line until Rex Ryan vouched for all-pro LG Richie Incognito and I would argue that losing Incognito would have a very detrimental effect as the team doesn't have backup talent even close to Incognito's talent level that I'm aware of and Taylor would then have great difficulty in making plays of any sort running for his life all game. The Bills are going to want Tyrod to develop into more of an elite pocket passer or another Russell Wilson and yet things could go the other way like Kaepernick and RG3. So, maintaining a solid line to protect the QB is extremely important in my view. Interesting to note that you cite a veteran QB with one of the quickest releases in the NFL which can negate a pass rush and the other is known scrambler who can mitigate a pass rush with his legs like Taylor. Lastly, in my opinion, you don't win games with a bad offensive line along with a young QB attempting to develop properly into a pocket thrower as that is the quickest path to ruin a decent QB prospect. -

Nihilarian replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike D Williams wasn't a "bust" as the guy played RT for 5 years in the NFL and started 42 games for Buffalo at RT. The average lifespan of an NFL player is a mere three years. So far after two seasons Kouandjio has started in only two NFL games and didn't play well enough to retain his position and I wouldn't call him a "bust" either....just yet. He still needs to prove he can be effective at tackle during regular season games. Aaron Maybin was drafted as an 11th overall pick and was specifically a pass rusher who didn't attain one sack for the Buffalo Bills in his two seasons and only started one game in his four-year NFL career. Now that's a bust! It wasn't the fault of the player that the team that drafted them didn't evaluate them properly! Maybin was a one year wonder in college and had red flags popping up all over. Clearly, some were smitten by highlight film. I know a few will cry about hindsight but Clay Matthews was drafted 26th in 2009 and Brian Orakpo was drafted 16th that year. I highly doubt this current scouting dept, GM would get things that wrong about a defensive player. -

Nihilarian replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Cowboys had such complete incompetence at QB after Romo went down and they let their star RB leave in thinking that any RB will do with such a great line. There is a reason that the QB position is the most important position on the field on both sides of the ball and why the Bills are paying McCoy 6 mill per. Scrubs will never replace elite skill talent. That said, one superstar at WR isn't the answer by himself because teams can roll coverages toward him without worrying about big plays from the scrub receivers. Then you need a QB that is able to get him the ball. You seem to be perfectly happy with the Sammy Watkins pick in 2014 using two firsts and a fourth to obtain while Zack Martin was there at 16. The Bills could have traded back to land Martin (*a position of need) and acquired more picks and then in the second round drafted Allen Robinson or Jarvis Landry at WR, not to mention Beckham instead of Martin. Plus they would have had that #1, 2015 pick as a starter to help fill the starting lineup. (*This was before Rex Ryan and Richie Incognito as the team was attempting to utilize Erik Pears at RG in horrific fashion with that old Nix thinking.) I think we disagree that the Bills currently have a strong line because it looks good in preseason or had a high grade from last season due to the emergence of OG Richie Incognito grading as the best OG in the league. Like you mentioned the line takes competent five players to be effective and is only as good as it's weakest link. With Glenn, Incognito, and Wood the line is above average on the left and with Miller and Mills on the right side, it is very suspect. Which side do you think defenses will attack? While last year the Bills line looked good for most of the year that was also because Miller wasn't in there and the better pass blocker in Urbik was. Now stating that what happens if either Mills or Miller gets hurt as the backups look so much worse than the starters on the right. That right side still has to face a strong test once the season starts. The 2015 Bills were the #1 team in big plays on offense and yet still had great difficulty in maintaining a good three and out percentage in which they were 31st. They either had a big play or difficulty maintaining possession of the ball. This season how effective can Watkins be if Taylor doesn't have time to get him the ball or if he is injured because that right side doesn't hold up? in regards to that last sentence of yours. The Bills had 250 million dollars and numerous #1 picks tied up in defensive line talent and where did it get them in terms of sacks / QB pressures? Coaching matters, schemes matter and building a solid line on both sides of the ball should be the very first priority of any GM, IMHO. -

Yea well, I look at a player like LG Richie Incognito and saw that he not only transformed that left side into a solid area of the team but that he helped make his teammates on either side of him look and play better. So many Bills fans clamoring that they want to see Tyrod Taylor develop into that elite QB and that simply might not happen if his line doesn't protect him properly on both sides. Like you infer, you need both sides of the line to be solid or defenses will make you pay. I kept reading in this forum for years Bills fans regurgitating what they heard from Buddy Nix in that OG's are a dime a dozen and you can find quality guards later in the draft. That any OT can be successfully moved to play guard which is something that Erik Pears disproved when he was moved from RT to RG and became the very worst OG in the league. I would spend a top 15 pick on another Incognito and the Cowboys used the 16th pick on Zack Martin who became an all-pro RG in his first year. That team seems to know talent when they see it and go after it. They beat the Bills to La'el Collins and I can only dream of how good the Bills O-line would have been last year with that kid pancaking players for Buffalo at OG. To me, protecting the most important position on both sides of the ball is worthy of a first round or even a top 10 pick. That is if you are 100% certain that the scouting dept knows what they are doing and that doesn't always appear to be the case in Buffalo. It was Rex Ryan that vouched for Incognito and went after Collins by dining with him to get him to sign with the Bills. Is this the same team that thought Demetress Bell would make a solid starting LT or Mansfield Wrotto, Cornell Green, Cordaro Howard would make a decent RT. No, it isn't! But they are still very far from the Dallas Cowboys scouting dept from what I see in regards to offensive line talent evaluation. To Kouandjio, It's good to see a young player develop into a better player and just how good we won't really know until we see how he does after the regular season games start. -
Is the defense truly improving, or a byproduct of preseason?
Nihilarian replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with this premise and we really don't know if Ryan is holding back at all or showing everything he has to look better this year. Most teams run vanilla schemes in pre-season while keeping things very simple so they can evaluate everyone properly. If the defense looks this good against the Ravens, Jets, Cardinals and Patriots then Bills fans can start to get excited about this year. I say this because of how great the defense looked last year against the Colts and then fell on their face against the Patriots in the very next game. The defensive game plan needs to be consistent every week against every opponent and not just division foes. On another note, there were times that Eli looked like he had a ton of time to make a play and the Bills secondary just wouldn't let him. This was the case in a lot of games last year and the secondary can't stop an offense by themselves as they need a solid pass rush to help them. Time will tell with this as nobody really knows what to expect with the pass rush except Ryan himself. -
Are we sleeping on this team?
Nihilarian replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In 1987 the Buffalo Bills hired ex-Colt head coach Ted Marchibroda as QB's coach and later on promoted him to OC in 1989. Right after I had read that they signed him I went to the Bills ticket office and bought my four season tickets which I held until 1994. My younger brother was a big Colts, Bert Jones fan so we knew the impact that Marchibroda would have in Buffalo. Later on It was tough for me to see the Colts rehire ole Ted away from Buffalo and when Bill Polian left it was another hit to the gut. The Bills also drafted Shane Conlan and Nate Odomes with their first two picks in 87 and I think most Bills fans I knew and talked to at the time realized that the Bills were going to be special very soon. On a side note, I was heartbroken that the Colts had drafted the Biscuit out of Alabama that year and my brother was rubbing it in my nose all the way up to that Halloween blockbuster trade. -

Nihilarian replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Playing well in preseason doesn't usually equate to winning regular season games. So I'll start believing in this year's team if they can win at least two out of the first four and then three out of the next five. Looking back at last year's opener and how well they played ...only to fall hard the very next game because it looked like the defense wasn't even close to being prepared to face the Patriots. So many holes at various positions on this year's team in my view and backups playing well in preseason against vanilla schemes and backups isn't a cause to up my optimism. -
Most Bills fans appear to be very apprehensive about the upcoming season and for good reason. Here we go again with, "Rex Ryan: Injuries, suspensions won’t stop defense from being better" http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/08/17/rex-ryan-injuries-suspensions-wont-stop-defense-from-being-better/ In that first preseason game Ryan stated we look just like last year with 11 penalties for 106 yards. "The mistakes that we made, as I pointed out to our team, it's like we've got to turn the page on that," Ryan said. "That was last year's team, and we can't have that." http://bills.buffalonews.com/2016/08/13/bills-sloppiness-overshadows-exciting-finish-new-stadium-name/ It's tough to be a Bills fan!

Tank 2016 for Greg Roman - HC
Nihilarian replied to 8-8 Forever?'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yep! Bills fans don't need to pray to have the team tank as I think the defense will do that all on its own. For whatever reason, Rex Ryan chose not to put 100% effort into the 2015 season (defense) it might just come back to bite him in his posterior this season. Shoot, even if he and his coaching staff puts forth the effort and starts calling more blitzes and fixes all the other issues with the team. Like all the penalties and communications issues, late player substitution issues and red flag / game management issues, it still might not be enough to overcome the lack of a solid pass rush with no Mario and teams doubling Hughes plus all the injuries. Karma... -
exactly!

I look at things this way. Back in 1979, the team was working their way out of a decade in which they hadn't beaten the Miami Dolphins in 20 plus games. The team finished that year 7-9 under Chuck Knox and the only real bright spot was a journeyman WR the Bills had gotten from Pittsburgh had 1000 yards receiving with 2 TD's.The last half of the 70's the team had gone 2-12, 3-11 and 5-11. The team just traded away their pro bowl RB in OJ to the 49ers for some picks. If you looked at the roster it was filled with a bunch of nobody's save RG Joe D who was a pro bowler and QB Joe Ferguson who was constantly throwing more INT's than TD's every year. Then, all of a sudden in 1980 all that good Chuck Knox coaching kicked in along with some good drafting and the team went 11-5 while making the playoffs. If Rex Ryan is worth a damn he should be able to coach up the players he does have and still win games. The team beat the Colts last year without Dareus and almost beat the Patriots in that second game without Kyle Williams, Aaron Williams and Mario Williams.

yea, 2009 when Jauron fired Turk Schonert and then promoted AVP from QB coach to OC. It was like the blind leading the blind leading the blind....all towards a cliff in running that Mike Martz deep passing attack with a WC QB. Let's not forget that Jauron had decided the team would run the "hurry up" / no huddle offense in the offseason and when the RT couldn't get to the line fast enough during pre-season to run it effectively. Jauron then outright cut the starting RT with the season about to start. Not to mention that the team scrapped that "hurry up" / no huddle offense after two weeks in the regular season. This was the same year the team thought Demetress Bell would be an adequate LT (a 7th round pick) and Kirk Chambers would be good at RT (a Cleveland Brown 6th round pick)! If I didn't know better it sure looked like Dick Jauron submarined his own team in order to get fired in Buffalo. Is it any wonder why JP and Trent Edwards failed after being coached by jamokes year after year. The good news is at least now the Bills have a legit NFL OC to coach the offense and young QB's.

If Kelly hadn't have had shoulder surgery he would have been the first overall, no question. Making comparisons to Jim kelly after one preseason game in which the kid played less than the second half against players who most probably won't even make the team is really daydreaming. "Kelly severely separated his throwing shoulder when he was tackled during the third game of the 1982 season, ending his college career.
