Brandon let it be known that the Raiders were interested in hiring him and thus he got a promotion. He has his vampire fangs deep into Terry's throat and isn't about to let go anytime soon. Personally, I think these new owners are a bit overwhelmed in what's involved in running an NFL franchise and are afraid to clean house. Alas, as that is exactly what they should do because their idea of running an NFL team is an 180-degree departure from Ralph Wilson who wanted a profit first and winning second....or perhaps win games if everything falls that way. These new owners aren't dependent on the team making a profit to support themselves and in fact are more than rich enough to hire the best and brightest in the NFL to win. What they don't see just yet is winning will make everyone want to work for them. Wilson couldn't hire anyone he wanted because so many didn't want to work for him.

Bills fans shouldn't need to show their disdain for Rex Ryan. These owners must watch the games and see what we see.

Jeff Fisher fired, should have been Rob Ryan!
Nihilarian replied to CommonCents's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FIRED! I think they wanted to outdo Buffalo and be first. But man did Fisher deserve it as his supposed good defense with quality players stunk it up...just like someone in Buffalo who allowed franchise defensive records to be broken. -
Buffalo isn't the only team making him an offer as there are rumors that same figure was offered by the Rams.

Some of us have had this same opinion of Brandon that Tim Graham has and every time we voice it the same few people come out to shoot it down. I've come to the conclusion that either they are on Brandon's payroll or have friends that are... or what better way for a marketing man to control the fan base, but with disinformation. Dunno how many of you know this poster but he is a known insider at OBD who has have insight into many of the workings in the Bills FO! Somehow the guy is made of Teflon and he supposedly hasn't had a voice in anything. Leroi, "Russ has a big part in scouting and the draft process. He is definetly involved. The guy is a sports genius, we are lucky to have him as the president of Buffalo sports. Remember he was our GM not that long ago. Imo " Even if you don't believe Tim graham, Leroi or others that have said they know of Brandon's involvement in football decisions. He was in the Bills cut room meetings on the phone to free agents! He is involved on the football side. Russ Brandon was the one who convinced these new owners that they had the needed football acumen to know who to pick as their head coach. "they would know who to hire after they spoke with all the candidates"

Same, or hire Bill Cowher and allow him to evaluate and rebuild the team as the man does know player talent and coaches. I would have preferred hiring Packers GM Ted Thompson away from Green Bay and give him complete autonomy on the football side. This idea was looking good a few weeks ago when the Packers were losing.

Respectfully, who is going to make the final decision on who to hire as HC and will it be successful at all if the very same people that have been unsuccessful in the past do the hiring. Brandon since 2007. Whaley since 2013. What's more, who is to find this elusive elite franchise QB if the current GM already took his shot with EJ and then went overboard in spending two first round picks on a glass WR attempting to make that QB pick work. Meanwhile, the guy basically had no success with building a proper offensive line. Remember LG Chris Williams for 5 mill per who played 3 games and done! Or how about OG Colin Brown who Whaley tried to replace Andy Levitre with and was so bad he only lasted 6 games before being cut. Let's not forget it was Rex Ryan who vouched for all pro LG Richie Incognito and wanted Tyrod Taylor. Ryan was also chasing Cowboys OG La'el Collins before he signed with Dallas. This team already passed on Derek Carr, Teddy Bridgewater for that glass WR who is always injured and now looking back at that 2014 draft. If Whaley knew wtf he was looking at in terms of college talent the team could have gone with trading up for LBer Khalil Mack or WR Mike Evans instead of Watkins! Or stayed at #9 and drafted all pros LBer Anthony Barr, WR Odel Beckham JR, DT Aaron Donald, OG Zack Martin, LBer CJ Mosley. Or traded up for Carr, Bridgewater. I think Bills fans want to give Whaley more credit than he deserves and since it's been so long since the team had a successful playoff season that fans tend to not see all the problems. Who cares if the team changes the entire front office structure and then fails to win more than 3 games. That will simply mean they haven't found the right front office people. It will also allow them to make changes to the FO again and ultimately have a legit shot at a franchise QB with a top 3 pick. I have no faith in Doug Whaley and his scouting staff to find a decent HC or QB. I also have no faith in Russ Brandon or the Pegula's to make those choices either.

Changing just the HC won't change much really. This team needs an entire regime change with someone very smart at the top of the org making all the football decisions. Far, far too many problems with the lack of backup talent, the trainers as so many are ending up on IR or playing hurt. The doctors who give the okay to bring in injury prone draft picks and free agents. Not to mention the lack of quality offensive scouts who can find that elite franchise QB. Missed on Derek Carr. The bills missed their chance with Bill Polian who may be taking a job with the Bears. -

The score should be far worse than what it is and the Bills still have a shot to comeback. -

Man, just watching the way the Steelers offensive linemen push back the Bills D-line is making me sick. Men against boys. Bell 102 yards rushing on 16 carries -
Read this! http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/01/bills-decision-to-hire-nix-draws-criticism/ Clearly, you missed the part of my last post that mentioned that it was Russ Brandon who induced these new owners into thinking that they have the needed NFL football acumen needed to hire the team's next coach. It should have been Doug Whaley's choice as he is the GM and instead these new owners and Russ Brandon were all involved in the hiring process. You also missed the part where known elite franchise QB Atlanta Falcon Matt Ryan fell on his face during the 2013 season for many reasons and the team ended with a 4-12 record. Having an elite franchise QB playing a full 16 games doesn't ensure a winning season and that goes for Buffalo too. This franchise has more problems than just a not so great QB, as they have not so good trainers, scouts, doctors, coaches and most of all a not so good GM. The team entered the season with several known weak positions over the team and as injuries came about they showed glaringly. Yes, all team have and deal with injuries. the difference is the dropoff in talent between the Buffalo Bills starters and backup players in many positions is far, far unacceptable. Receivers, Safeties, RT among others. This is on the GM, scouts. We agree that the coaching staff isn't very good and seem to disagree on the other parts of the team. I'm with others who want to see the whole thing blown up with real NFL experienced football people making all the football decisions.

Right after that year's draft, there were videos put up by the team on their website in which Whaley stated EJ was entirely his guy. Dunno if it's even still there and I'm far too lazy to look for it at this time. -

It's a darn shame that Rex's defense stinks so badly because i can live with this year's version of him not being a blowhard while stuffing his foot in mouth every week. The difference between the Steelers and Bills is on the field for the world to see as it's not just the coaching that's bad. This is a "run-first team" that can't find a way to run in some games and then the entire offense lands on the running QB's shoulders. Can't run, can't throw, defense stinks...yea, I'd also say blow it all up! -

Whaley was the one who went to Fla to personally scout EJ and stated just after the draft EJ was his guy.
