  1. Really good coaches build their schemes around their players and find ways to help them make plays. Rex Ryan was a "my way or the highway" guy and ruined a great 4-3 scheme. As an example. We all know Tyrod Taylor's somewhat pocket limitations and while he isn't a gunslinger. He certainly is very careful with the ball and you won't get him to throw many INTs. I don't see Tyrod Taylor as the trainwreck you make him out to be. It really remains to be seen if the opposing defenses bring more rushers than blockers if Peterman can beat that rush. I think he can, but we don't know that yet and If left up to the OC to find ways not to get Peterman sacked I think he fails just like he did with Taylor. You come away saying it's all on the QB. I say it's both the OC, run game OC / line coach and the QB. Week 9 Bills @ Jets highlights, It wasn't all Tyrod.
  2. The WCO scheme is basically short underneath passes like an extended handoff and different OC's run their own versions. The Bills were winning with Taylor at QB and were 5-2 up until that Jets game. The Jets ran a version of Rex Ryans "overload Blitz" in which the Jets defense always sent more rushers than blockers and the Bills weren't prepared for it in any way shape or form. Thus a Jets defensive line that hadn't had a sack all season suddenly looking like the greatest line ever with seven sacks. While I agree with you about Taylor's shortcomings in being able to defeat a heavy pass rush. I also think a lot had to do with the lack of line protections with the OC not calling for extra blockers to help protect the QB. How hard would it be to send in extra TE's or even OT's to help block the extra rushers? (Castillo) I kinda doubt the Bills drafted Zay Jones or Peterman thinking that they would be saviors in their first seasons. I think they expected both to eventually become decent players and Peterman a backup. I myself don't think much of Dennison's playcalling or the offense he runs as the passing offense has basically the same stats as last season with Taylor. Anthony Lynn did so much better with the offense and in particular with the run game. ( I realize that Juan Castillo is the run game coordinator and line coach) I can only hope this is Castillo's only season in Buffalo as he really stinks.
  3. I think it's more in the way that Tyrod was hammered so often in that Jets game (7 sacks) that he couldn't get settled against the Saints. In three-quarters of that Saints game Taylor went 9/18 for 56 yards, 1 INT and 2 sacks. a rating of 33.6. More importantly, the Buffalo Bills drive chart in that Saints game went (57 yards-FG)(0 yards PUNT)(15 yards PUNT)(21 yards PUNT)(9 yards PUNT)2nd half(-2 yards INT)(5 yards PUNT)(-6 yards PUNT) Peterman (19 yards DOWNS)(75 yards TD) So, with 4:53 left in the game the Bills put in Peterman he goes 7/10 for 79 yards, one TD with a 126.7 rating Tyrod Taylor hung himself with that horrid performance against the Saints as he had Benjamin open for a TD and missed him. Granted the Saints have a top 10 defense and Taylor was playing like a rookie QB making his first NFL start. From a Buffalo defensive perspective, the Bills were only down 17-3 at the half and Taylor opens the 3rd quarter with an interception which allowed the Saints to score from the Buffalo 3 ( kinda Charles Clays fault as the Taylor pass hit him in the chest and bounced off). 30 points scored in that second half because the defense was on the field all game long. The point being is I doubt the Bills were planning on making this move this soon and it was forced on them by Taylor.
  4. This move was needed! How many times have we all seen Tyrod Taylor go invisible against good teams for most of the game and then when the game is mostly out of control he manages to score in garbage time which makes his overall grade look not so bad. This last game he was benched in the fourth so he had to live with that horrid performance. Having a QB that will push the ball downfield will open up the run game more so they can't run blitz, stack the box or they will get burned. A QB that can get the ball out quickly will help negate the pass rush and take pressure off the lines right side which isn't as good as the left. That Jets game in giving up seven sacks shouldn't happen again even though the Chargers have some good pass rushers. Peterman doesn't need to be an elite QB like Tom Brady as all he needs to do is move the chains and make first downs. This Bills receiver corps was so underutilized and now have a thrower that will get them the ball. I'm excited about the young man and hope he does well in his first start.
  5. Luck might be damaged goods at this point in both mind and body. Besides, coming to Buffalo wouldn't be that much of an improvement in protection for him. Not with that right side as crappy as it is. Draft a QB in 2018 if Peterman doesn't play well.
  6. Taylor is 25th in passing. The Bills are 28th in offense, 30th in passing with Chicago, Baltimore worse. The Bills are currently 17th in rushing, 30th in receiving #1 in the NFL in point differential with a +11. Buffalo is 24th in defensive yards allowed. If Peterman plays well all those stats should change for the better.
  7. If he was he didn't catch a ball and only caught two in the NO game. I guess my meaning was is now he will have someone who will throw more than two passes per game to him.
  8. From what I saw him do against the Saints in the 4th quarter I'm excited to see what he can do after getting all the first team reps. From April 2017, Jon Gruden's take. "Gruden offered up an intriguing assessment during the call. Someone asked him if he were to come back to coach this year and needed a QB to play right away, which of this year’s class would he choose. He said Pitt product Nathan Peterman." https://www.ninersnation.com/2017/4/19/15356660/jon-gruden-nathan-peterman-most-pro-ready-starter-2017-nfl-draft
  9. Hey, perhaps Peterman will stink it up in his first start. But I kinda doubt he will go 9/18 for 56 yards averaging 3.1 yards, one INT with 2 sacks in 3/4 of the game. I think this change to Peterman makes the move for bringing in Kelvin Benjamin relevant. Also, with Clay back in the lineup opposing defenses are going to need to worry about more than McCoy. I'm excited to see what an actual passing QB can do with this offense.
  10. Exactly right! When the performance of the main component of the offense fails like he did for 3/4 of the game against the Saints it's time for a change. It wasn't just bad as it was pathetic and even when he found a WR to be open he couldn't hit them properly. You can't win when your one trick pony runs out of tricks. https://mobile.twitter.com/YardsPerPass/status/930260603368853504/video/1
  11. I think the kid will do a whole lot better then most people think. It's about time the Bills had an actual pocket QB that teams will actually need to worry about stopping his passing. Plus Charles Clay should be back and he should help that passing offense even more. I'm excited to see what a passing QB can do with this receiving corps.
  12. All you guys railing about losing a QB that goes invisible for 3/4 of a game and then perhaps he throws two meaningless TD's in the 4th quarter. The guy kept his job because he looked like the best option they had and that no longer applies. The team is 5-4 because they had a ton of turnovers in the first few games and beat some bad teams. The only good team they beat was the Falcons after they lost both starting WR's in the second half along with 3 turnovers. A 33.6 passer rating with an added 6'5'' WR in Kelvin Benjamin who he repeatedly missed throwing passes. This last game with the underthrows, overthrows and errant throws. The NFL is a performance-based business and when you perform as bad as he did on Sunday he should be benched.
  13. After watching Tyrod in this last game I gotta wonder if he now has JP syndrome from that Jets game? Is the guy done in the NFL and will now see and hear phantom sackers all around him? Tyrod Taylor finished 3/4 of that Saints game going 9/18 for 56 yards, one INT with 2 sacks. He finished with a QBR 29.7, RTG 33.6. WOW, that is pathetic. Is he injured? Peterman in one quarter went 7/10 for 79 yards no INT's, no sacks, a 95.2 QBR, 126.7 RTG. If Tyrod starts to stink it up against the Chargers I'd bench him if for nothing more than let him fear to lose his starting job over the fear of phantom sackers
  14. I get a kick out of Gruden. Every QB he attempts to develop he throws this gigantic playbook at them and expects them to learn it all. So that at some point during a game he can call some obscure play that the rest of the team says wth is this? He overloads his QB's with a bunch of useless plays that the team will never utilize. On another note, some 2018 FA QB's, Kirk Cousins, Drew Brees, Sam Bradford.
  15. What was comical is Tyrod Taylors stats for that game against the Saints! He played 3 quarters of football and went 9 of 18 for 56 yards, one INT, 2 sacks with a rating of 33.6! A comicical tragedy is what it was. The NFL is a performance-based sport and after that performance, he should be benched! Taylor is not that answer at QB and the Bills need to see what they have in Peterman before next years draft. That is if they aren't too busy drafting for the defense after that pathetic performance against the Saints. I can only think that with the next 7 games those teams can't wait to play a falling apart Buffalo team.
  16. The reality of the situation is that the Bills beat the 4-5 Jets once at home. They beat the 3-6 Denver Broncos at home. They beat the 5-4 Falcons on the road! They beat the 3-6 Tampa Bay Bucs at home. They beat the 3-6 Raiders at home. Looking back at who the Bills beat this season is that they had only one impressive win on the road in Atlanta against a team that had just lost it's starting WR's in Julio Jones, Mohamad Sanu to injuries in the second half. The three turnovers helped. Out of the next 7 games, 4 are on the road. Two are against the 7-2 Patriots. Two are against the 4-5 Dolphins. The 3-6 Chargers on the road. the 3-7 Colts at home and finally the 6-3 Chiefs on the road. So, the Bills maybe beat the Chargers, Colts, and Dolphins once. Looks like 8-8... maybe! The reality is that this is a bad team that got a bunch of turnovers the first few games. Tyrod Taylor stinks and is not the answer at QB. Is Peterman? I suspect that the team might not even be able to draft one of those top QB's as they will be more worried about bolstering the defense after watching that game against the Saints! The Bills need to overhaul and upgrade most of their offensive line due to age and injuries. Glenn is not a pro bowl LT and shouldn't be paid like one at 12 mill per. LG Incognito is an 11-year vet that is worth more than he is getting. Wood is a 9-year vet and the highest paid center in the NFL. Is he playing like the best center in the league? The right side is a joke with players who wouldn't even be a backup player on a good team. The defense needs a lot of help at a lot of positions after watching the Saints rush for 20 rushing first downs, 298 rushing yards on 48 attempts a 6.3 YPC average! Who needs QB Drew Brees when you can run the ball like that?
  17. According to those points, the only games the Bills are favored to win are Colts, Dolphins at home. (7-9). If they continue to play like they did the past two weeks they won't win another game this season.
  18. Suddenly this years team looks like a bad, bad team with 184 PF-198 PA and it's gonna get a whole lot worse from here on out if changes aren't made. @ Chargers @ Chiefs Patriots Colts Dolphins @Patriots @ Dolphins If this team keeps playing like they did the last two weeks it might look like a 5-11 season.
  19. Tyrod Tayor was beyond pathetic in this game. 9 of 18 for 56 yards and an INT. I've been on his side up until this game and now want to see more of Peterman. I know he took the team to five wins and he should be allowed to have some bad games at times. Alas, He was such a detriment to a win today that he should have been replaced at halftime. I'm done supporting the guy and hope the Bills are carefully looking at this year's crop of rookie QB's. WTF happened to the run defense? Can those stats be right? 298 yards rushing on 48 attempts with a 6.2 YPC average. 6 rushing TD's? The entire defense hit a wall today!
  20. I kinda get the impression that Luck might not want to play for Pagano anymore and now he won't be back this season after landing on IR. Had Deshaun Watson not been injured this week the score between the Texans and Colts would have been more like 41-20 with Pagano the human torch! Instead, the Colts faced Tom Savage. The Colts have the 6-2 Steelers, 5-3 Titans, @ 5-3 Jags, @ 5-3 Bills, 3-5 Broncos, @ 4-5 Ravens, 3-5 Texans all to play. Currently, the Colts at 3-6 it looks like they will finish 5-11 is a good bet that Pagano might not make it to the Broncos game if he should lose the next four. I suspect the Colts OC Rob Chudzinski might be the interim HC. In any event, I think the guy is history this year unless he can get that team turned around quickly.
  21. The thing you guys need to realize is that Gase had the Dolphins in the playoffs last year with a 10-6 record. Gase has a big excuse in that his starting QB is on IR in Tallywhacker. That Miami offense is currently 32nd while the defense is 15th in points allowed, 7th in yards allowed. McAdoo had his NY Giant in the playoffs last year too with a record of 11-5 and the team added WR Brandon Marshall to an already good WR corps. It's not his fault that ODB, BM are on IR and Shepard has been fighting an ankle injury. 15 Giants players on IR at this time. That's mostly the issue with the passing offense. The run game is horrid and the defense is almost as bad. I can see McAdoo keeping his job and replacing DC Steve Spagnuolo and or OC Mike Sullivan might be in the Cards. On another note, Indy has been not so great since Luck's shoulder injury in 2015 going 8-8, 8-8 and now currently 3-6. There is talk that Luck's career might be over...https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/ex-colts-linebacker-thinks-andrew-lucks-nfl-career-is-over-despite-gms-comments/
  22. Chuck Pagano by far and it isn't even close! It was said that Colts owner Jim Irsay was looking to hire Jon Gruden last offseason and with their 3-6 start currently 162 PF, 260 PA YIKES! They are a bad, bad team that Andrew Luck managed to mostly hold together by himself. The team has wasted some of Luck's prime years with a bad HC who refuses to beef up an offensive line to protect Luck. Anyone else recall that 46 to 9 opening week loss to the Rams? The offense stinks with no run game, the defense stinks currently #32! There is a new GM in Indy after the owner fired that moron Grigson and I'll wager he also wants a change at HC for the team. Others on the watchlist include Marvin Lewis, John Fox, Todd Bowles, Ben McAdoo, Hue Jackson.
  23. FIXED! OG, OT, DT, LB, RB Fix the lines and that should be the biggest need. Then LBer, RB. QB remains a concern and will depend on how well TT does the rest of the season. However, it wasn't his fault for the constant jailbreak on Thursday night. P.S. Geez, no rookie QB if they fail to fix that Oline!
  24. I disagree. When the defense is always rushing more than you have in blocking then adjustments should have been made by the coaches. Simple things like keeping more into block and quick slant/outs pass plays to help keep the QB from being overwhelmed. Granted the penalties and drops were on the players. The bigger issue in my view was the offensive game plan and play calling.
  25. Food for thought. One year the NY Giants went up to Seattle and were beaten down by the Seahawks 17 to 12. They intercepted Phill Simms 4 times as he went 14 of 25 for 190 yards and they sacked him 7 times! That year was 1986 and the Giants went on to win the super bowl. Just saying that one game out of 16 doesn't mean the world will end because of a loss no matter how bad it looks. What matters now is that the Bills offensive coaches get their heads out of their posteriors and work up a game plan to keep that game from happening again. Because more than likely every team the Bills face from here on out will try to do the very same things the Jets did on Thursday night. Also, let's hope that the GM saw what we all saw and drafts some top offensive linemen in the next draft.
