  1. If the Mayfield has a really good senior bowl I think the Bills trade up to #4 get him before Denver, NY Jets and Miami who now says they will go QB in the first round if the BPA is a QB. That 70% accuracy is going to make almost every team want him and he could even go one or two. http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2018bmayfield.php
  2. The only guy I'd rather have over Alex Smith is Kirk Cousins and he will probably be almost 2x the cost per year. I just hope it doesn't take that first pick of the Chiefs, but it just might.
  3. The only way the Bills don't take a QB in the first is if all the decent players are already gone and/or they bring in a top FA like Cousins/ Smith. Personally, I would go for the former and trade Taylor, Glenn. Then go DT, WR, OT, OG with the first four picks.
  4. Buffalo won't be the only suitor for a QB that threw for 4042 yards, 26TDs, 5 INTs with a rating of 104.7. Smith is far and above Taylor. I would think that Arizona, The Jags, the NY Jets, the Browns, the Broncos, the Redskins (should they lose Cousins), the NY Giants should the move on from Eli. Will all be looking to obtain a playoff "bridge" QB over a "maybe" rookie QB that could take years to develop. That's 7 teams he would be an instant upgrade for besides Buffalo! And KC might just want to keep the guy!~ At age 33 he could play more than just one or two years.
  5. What's funny to me is the Steelers defense allows a clown like QB Blake Bortles with Jags team to score 45 points on them AT Pittsburgh! Whatever happened to the Blitzburgh Steelers who managed zero sacks on Bortles? Then they go and fire their OC who helped Big Ben set playoff records of 37 of 58 for 469 yards, 5 TDs, 1 INT.
  6. Bills fans are blinded by what a QB does vs what a team does. They forget what this QB can do with a really good run game and defense. He will actually throw the ball to receivers who are not wide open while still not turning the ball over very often. The Chiefs want that first round pick back for Mahomes... and they won't get it. They also want to start Mahomes for 2018 so I think a #2 pick would do it.
  7. The man did throw for 4042 yards with 26 TDs, 5 INTs with a rating of 104.7. That Chiefs offense was 17th in passing attempts and yet 7th in yards, 10th in TDs, 2nd in INTs. They finished the season #6 in PF, #5 in yards. All this with three players on offense doing most of the heavy lifting, one WR in Tyreek Hill, one TE in Travis Kelce, and one RB in Kareem Hunt. In the playoffs, TE Kelce went out in the first half and that left Smith with one WR to throw to and suddenly in this game, his OC decided to stop calling run plays. The #1 team in the NFL in rushing yards per attempt and #9 in rushing yards for some reason didn't rush the ball much. 16 rushing attempts for 69 yards in that playoff game. Last season (2017) the Chiefs offense was #7 in passing yards, #9 in rushing yards, and their defense was #28 overall, #29th in passing allowed, #25th in rushing allowed. In that playoff game, the Chiefs defense allowed Tennessee 397 total yards of offense. Bottom line is the Chiefs had a star RB that rushed for 1327 yards during the regular season and then only gave him 11 attempts rushing for 42 yards in the game. That opportunistic Chiefs defense that was #2 in turnover differential at #15, only Baltimore was better at #17. The Chiefs defense stunk up the field in the second half allowing the Titans offense 19 points to a very mediocre QB and rush attack. It was more the lack of a run game and bad defense that lost that playoff game IMO. I would take QB Alex Smith any day over Tyrod Taylor!
  8. I think the NY Giants are looking at Keenum and seeing what Vikings OC Pat Shurmur was able to do for the guy. That miracle play at the end of the Saints game is something the team has practiced over and over. Now go back to 2013 when Foles had his career season and look who his OC was...yep, Pat Shurmur. Eagles HC Chip Kelly with his two 10-6 seasons his OC was Pat Shurmur.
  9. Yep! That is "if" those QBs play a near perfect game and have the ability to actually throw a few TD passes now and again. The 2017 Buffalo Bills scored more than 24 points in only two games all season and scored only 3 points in three. That last one was the killer as even Bortles managed a TD against the Buffalo defense. In that Jags game Taylor went 17 of 37 for 134 yards, no TDs, 1 INTs, 2 sacks which are numbers far beyond sucky. I was hoping/expecting so much more from TT this season and had he played up to even Bortle's level this team would probably still be alive. Tayor has played himself out of a job IMHO. Then again a new quality OC might help him improve. BTW, Keenum finished the season with a 71.3 QBR, Foles in that Falcon game had a 100.1 rating, Taylor a 56.4 QBR.
  10. Me either, as Saint Doug was in an untenable position caught between what he wanted for the team and what the junior GM Whaley vs the senior GM Brandon allowed him to have. The only thing I didn't like about Marrone was his choice for OC and the fact that he went into his first year as HC with no QB coach. If he had stayed we would likely still have Whaley/Bradon running things and 9-7 the best the team would ever accomplish. I'm kinda happy the way things worked out and I kinda want the Jags defense to break Brady's legs.
  11. While I get what this thread was started for... I can't help but chime in a bit. Big Ben threw for 37 of 58 for 469 yards, 5 TDs, 1 INT and STILL LOST! I hear the spin doctors talking about changing the offensive scheme when clearly it was the Steeler defense that let the team down. Bortles OTOH had a near perfect game in which he went 14 of 26 for 214, 1 TD. Very Tyrod like numbers. Although the final score was 45-42 you could see the Jags defense which got the two turnovers were the better defense this day. Bortles may suck but he seemed to do just enough to win against Buffalo and Pittsburgh. Now, will he have an even more perfect game against the Patriots because he will need to actually compete against Brady in a sense that he will likely need to pass the ball and throw a few TDs with no turnovers again?
  12. I happen to love the Kelvin Benjamin signing as this team hasn't had a big, tall red zone WR target in forever. At 6'5 243 the guy is a monster for DB's to cover and this should become more evident once he has a legit NFL QB throwing to him. This was a huge move that would have really proved itself had Tyrod thrown to him more often. Beane attempted to get Taylor more help and the guy gave up when he thought the team was going to tank by trading away so much talent. I think I'll wait and see how this offseason goes before I start judging.
  13. Why, because Newton has won so many super bowls? There is a real reason they fired their OC in an attempt to make Newton more of a pocket passer and less of a runner. Moving him to Buffalo won't change much. I was solidly in McD's camp until the Daboll hire and we still haven't had a word about the real problem with the offense in run game coordinator/line coach Juan Castillo. Should McCoy miss some games the world would see how really useless the guy is to the offense and line. Now I kinda think that a firing is just waiting to happen no matter how good that defense will be...just prolonging the inevitable.
  14. No idea where some of you guys get info on any rant. The simple truth is the GM wanted him to fire his OC and go in a different direction and Mike said no. https://www.newschannel5.com/sports/nfl/tennessee-titans/mike-mularkey-titans-part-ways-after-failure-to-reach-agreement That GM Jon Robinson is an idiot as next season Luck will be back at QB with the Colts along with a better HC and DeShaun Watson will also be back with the Texans so I doubt both the Jags and Titans even make the playoffs next year. Not with Mariota and Bortles at QB at least. Mularkey had the right idea in developing Mariota in a run-first offensive scheme.
  15. It does make me think that the Bills defense was far, far better then the stats showed. Better than the Steelers defense too. It gives me hope that this team will field a top ten defense in 2018. Now if the team can find a way to score enough to keep up with the Patriots...
  16. I don't think Glenn is worth 12 mill per as he isn't that much better. For that kind of money, you would expect a pro bowler. I for one wouldn't mind trading him to be able to afford to build up the line in other areas. Ganesh has some points as the line could be revamped/upgraded at nearly every position. I would keep Woods and Incognito unless the latter finds himself in another mess with the NFL FO. http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/10/12/bills-pro-football-focus-cordy-glenn-richie-incognito-tyrod-taylor-dion-dawkins/
  17. This is what worries me as I don't trust anyone from that org to be loyal to another team in the same division. I see all his employees as being fiercely loyal. Now should Belichick go to the NY Giants or retire then things are different. We all know that the Patriots will be losing both McDaniels and Patricia this offseason but as long as Mr "if your not cheating, then you're not trying hard enough" is still the HC then I don't see Buffalo beating the Patriots even without Brady. Somehow they will know the Bills offense every offensive move in each game.
  18. No idea why McD hired this man if he is going to keep Juan Castillo as run game coordinator/line coach. It would seem to me the program needs an astute passing game guy who could tutor/develop a young QB.
  19. YIKES!!! 2009 (5-11) Eric Mangini HC Cleveland= QBs Brady Quinn, Derek Anderson. 29th in PF, 32 yards. 32nd in passing yards, 31st in TDs 2010 (5-11) Eric Mangini HC Cleveland= QBs Colt McCoy, Jake Delhomme, Seneca Wallace. 31st in PF, 29th in yards.29th in passing yards, 30th in passing TDs 2011 (6-10) Todd Bowles/Tony Sparano HC Miami=QBs Matt Moore, Chad Henne, JP Losman. 20th in PF, 22nd yards. 23rd in passing yards, 18th in passing TDs 2012 92-14) Romeo Crennel HC KC=QBs Matt Cassell, Brady Quinn, Peyton Hillis= 32nd in PF, 24th yards. 32nd in passing yards, passing TDs Bad teams, bad QB's, bad HCs. kind tough to judge someone under those circumstances. 2013 Patriots assistant coach-2014-2015-2016 Patriots TE coach. 2017 Alabama OC.
  20. There was something that TT couldn't do...
  21. They have Pitts number and it gives me pause to think that TT didn't look this bad.
  22. I think this was the bigger problem with the offense as the line regressed as did the run game for the better part of the season. If the team is a run first offense and they are having difficulty running the ball then nothing on offense will work well. The only reason the team did better with the run as the season went on was that of how ridiculously good LeSean McCoy is at making defenders miss. The Bills made a brilliant move by bringing in a Seattle castoff in kicker Stephen Hauschka and should go after both Darrell Bevell for OC and Tom Cable for the line coach. That is if they are thinking of keeping Tyrod, bringing in Alex Smith or even a rookie QB as the guy did tutor/develop Russell Wilson. JMHO
  23. The very last thing this team needs is to give up some of those first three rounds picks for a "maybe" guy as this team still has many holes to fill on the roster. Unless this GM is 100% certain that his choice will be the next Jim Kelly for franchise QB... I can't help but keep thinking of Johnny Manziel who is also 6'0'' and graded as an early first-round pick and Blake Bortles who went #3 overall.
  24. Jeez, did Tyrods mom write that article because they certainly didn't watch him this season. Like that second Jets game or the Saints game. Scoring 3 points against the Panthers, Patriots and the Jags As bad as Fitz could be at times he would at least take chances to throw the ball to score points. The 2017 Buffalo Bills= 31st in passing attempts, 31st in passing yards, 27th in passing TDs. 29th in total offense, 31st in passing offense, 31st in receiving. Only Chicago was worse.
  25. There is a lot to like about Mayfield's play for the NFL. He is a gritty gunslinger quarterback who has an "it factor" to his game. Mayfield doesn't have a strong arm, but it is good enough to make the throws required in the NFL. One of Mayfield's most impressive strengths as a passer is being able to locate the ball well and throw receivers open. He is very good with his timing and trajectory on passes to hit receivers on the run and set them up for lots of yards after the catch. Mayfield is very skilled to loft in touch passes downfield and throws a very catchable ball. He can be an accurate passer with superb ball placement. "Mayfield is undersized for the NFL with just average arm strength. He can have issues reading defenses because of his height, throwing into tight windows, and will have a big adjustment in learning to work under center, call plays, and operate a pro style offense. One big area of improvement for Mayfield is his footwork as he gets happy feet in the pocket. One college scouting director told me that Mayfield's feet are terrible. In speaking to multiple teams, they had second-day grades on Mayfield, but that doesn't mean he won't go in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft." http://walterfootball.com/draft2018QB.php The one thing that makes Drew Brees so great is his uncanny passing accuracy. I watched him as a young prospect throwing at tires and all he did was pass through each and every one he threw the ball at. If Mayfield has that kind of accuracy then yea, sign me up as wanting this kid. The other thing I would be concerned about is his arm strength as those swirling winds in Buffalo can give QBs fits. Looks to me like Mayfield might be best suited to play in a dome like Russell. BTW, Brees is only 6'0'' and Mayfield is 6'2''. Teams needing a QB, #1 Cleveland, #2 NY Giants, #5 Denver, #6 NY Jets, # 15 Arizona, #21 Buffalo. Many sites have Mayfield going as early as #5 to Denver or #6 to the NY Jets.
