For the love of god! Please go back and watch that Bengals, Bears, Ravens games to see the Buffalo Bills 1st Bills offensive line be pretty much useless against teams 1st string defenses. Here are the numbers, 1st game Peterman 5 of 18 passing attempts for 24 yards, 2 INTs. Against the Ravens for a little over a half. NO POINTS Preseason week 4, Bears. AJ McCarron 20 for 45 yards in the first half, 2 INTs. That first half against the Bears 1st string defense, PUNT, INT, PUNT, INT. NO POINTS Preseason week 3, Bengals. Josh Allen 6 of 12 for 34 yards in the first half, 5 sacks. NO POINTS So, If the Bills were going to do something "scheme wise" to help their QBs don't you think they would have done so by now? Peterman got the start against the Ravens because the only game he started in the preseason was the first preseason game against Carolina and in the next games he came in against the 2nd, 3rd string defenses. I believe the average NFL time in the pocket to throw is 2.7 - 3.2 seconds and Bill QBs had usually less then 2 seconds in the last three games. Not to mention that there has been very little run game for Buffalo.

Well said. The single most important objective right now is protecting that rookie QB so he can develop into a franchise QB. More important than wins, more important than building the defense. That 2nd first round pick at LBer in this years draft while needed and important...an actual NFL center was needed more. That pick in the 3rd round while needed, a better RG was needed more. This regime is making the very same mistake we have seen over and over with new head coaches since the Marv Levy days. We saw it with Jauron, with Gailey, with Marrone, with Mularkey, with Greg Williams. I can't tell you how many draft picks I've seen wasted on DB's over the years. Because if this young man develops into another Aaron Rodgers the franchise is set at the most important position on the roster for years to come. Plus it will give this team an actually fighting chance to compete in the division against the Patriots. As it looks right now the Buffalo Bills will be making the first overall selection in the 2019 NFL draft and they will probably need to draft a QB again.

This Ravens game wasn't about a team that was blown out by bad bounces and just being unlucky. This was a team that looked thoroughly undisciplined and unprepared to face the opposing team. The Bills were outplayed, outcoached and an embarrassment to their fans, owners. Bills fans need to look back at the Rex Ryan regime and 8-8, 7-9 to see he was gone after just two seasons. Just because the Bills backed into the playoffs last season at 9-7 doesn't give this GM/HC a free pass for the next two years. These owners are not only super-rich, they are also super smart and they saw what we all saw in that the Bills needed the Ravens to lose and the Bengals to win in order to get them into the playoffs. These owners have shown that they want to win and become competitive in the AFC East NOW and like we saw with Rex Ryan they realize and correct their mistakes quickly. So, should these blowouts continue I don't see this regime lasting very long. On another note I have no idea why Nate Peterman is even still on the roster and why this FO hasn't made a move to bring in a veteran QB like Matt Moore, Paxton Lynch unless this regime is counting on their QB's failing game after game so they can get that first overall pick. Which looks to be one of many top defensive players, DE, DT. The Bills have already proved that with the #4 overall defense and Super Mario, Marcell Dareus on the team they still didn't make the playoffs in 2014. This teams needs to find and develop a franchise QB and Josh Allen looks to be that guy. This regime gave up a lot to move up to the #7 spot this year to draft that QB. (Allen was supposed to sit and develop this year and now there isn't even a veteran QB on the roster to learn from). Stating that, I have a tough time believing that these owners will sit back and watch that #7 pick be ruined by bad coaching, behind a horrendous offensive line that this regime had time to fix. The fact that they attempted to upgrade the line with a few players and didn't get it done only proves their inability to properly judge talent.

That stuff went away with the old owner who was very hands-on and what I mean by hands-on is that he would be on the phone to the HC every day from Detroit. Anybody that was any good in the NFL wanted to work with him as his rep preceded him. Then there was his frugality as he didn't want to pay what people were worth, players, coaches, GMs, execs. He had a long history of that stuff. The new owners are billionaires and money is not an issue anymore. Anyway, these new owners want a winner in Buffalo! I gotta say if we see more of those almost 50 to 3 games. With the players, coaches looking undisciplined and unprepared their days are numbered! Then I'd say If I'm Terry P I'd be very pissed to see that #7 overall pick at QB ruined behind a bad line with bad play calling and no receivers getting open. I mean does this new FO plan on drafting a rookie QB in the first round again next year and then keep ruining them by not building a proper supporting cast. I used to be behind McD and Beane up until this preseason/season. Then after watching a rookie and an almost rookie QB behind one of the worst lines in the league. Crappy receiving corps and the playcalling/game plan was very suspect in that first game. These men had an entire offseason to build a proper offense and they pulled a Whaley by putting these young QBs with no veteran QB on the roster. This league is what have you done for me lately. If the Bills finish this season like they started it I can see this FO/regime getting fired at the end of this season. A lot of NFL teams are opting for the bright young offensive minds and that is the current trend. JMHO

I'm starting to change my mind about this regime also and the more I think about allowing that rookie to play behind one of the very worst offensive line ever fielded by the Buffalo Bills. The more I want to see an offensive minded HC and a GM with the smarts to build a power O line like the old (1989) and new ( two years ago before all the injuries) Cowboys line or even as good as the Bills line was when they went to the super bowl. These defensive minded coaches just don't get that you need a really good offensive line to start with ...which means build the lines first.

Take a long hard look at Steve Young's career to see that like Aaron Rodgers he sat behind one of the very best QB's ever in Joe Montana for 5 years. Then he learned his craft from one of the most brilliant coaches in Bill Walsh. For the first two years after Tampa in SF, Young's completion percentage was 53.6, 53.5 in 3 game starts each year. So it took time to evolve into a star QB from the beating he took in Tampa. Looking at Peyton Mannings first season at Indy he had two 1st round picks at LT, RG and a #2 at RT so his line wasn't anywhere near as bad as the current Bills line. Plus he was only sacked a mere 22 times his first season. Manning had a 56.7 completion percentage with 26 TDs, 28 INTs. My point being I don't think I've ever seen a rookie QB start his first year and succeed with such a bad offense around him as Josh Allen has around him currently. If the kid survives to do well it will be a miracle.

Dawkins was listed as the second best interior lineman (guard) in the 2017 draft. Mike Mayock and ESPN also had him listed as a guard. Funny thing is from the start of training camp notes the team had Dawkins rolling with the two's at RT and Mills stayed with the ones at RT. Now go back and look at that 1989* Dallas Cowboys roster to see that while drafting Aikman #1 overall they also drafted an OG in Steve Wisnewski with a #2 pick. The Boys also had Mark Tuinei at LT (played 15 seasons for Dallas), Nate Newton at LG (played 13 seasons for Dallas), Tom Rafferty at C (played 14 seasons for Dallas), Crawford Ker at RG ( played 7 seasons for Dallas) and Kevin Cogan at RT (played 14 seasons for Dallas). Troy Aikman started and played behind probably one of the very best offensive lines in the history of the NFL and he learned the ropes by throwing 9 TDs, 18 INTs his rookie year. Aikman was sacked only 19 times in his first year in the NFL and completed 52.9 % of his passes. ** Take a long hard look at the talent on that Dallas Cowboys offensive line and the Buffalo Bills line, while really good at that time, pales in comparison. Their line was a big reason why they were so good for so long and WON 3 super bowls!

Yea well, not every QB is that lucky as you noted with Carr. The Bucs had a pair of first and second rounders on their line that year and more specifically a first rounder at center. Groy and Miller are the lines biggest liabilities right now and Groy spent most of that Ravens game on his back. The grade for that Buffalo Bills offensive line for the Ravens game by many was an "F" and I doubt it will get better against the Chargers, the Vikings, The Packers, The Texans. I also hope the Bills get their run game going and forget about that pass first nonsense. I'm just mad as hell at McD, Beane for trading away AJ McCarron and not bringing in a veteran QB while not finding better talent at C, RG. This FO made the right choice at QB this year and now they are breaking their plan to have him sit and develop. I'll be even madder if this regime ruins this bright young talent at QB.

I totally agree with this. I've seen so many good prospects at QB go to bad teams and get ruined due to bad lines, bad coaching, bad teams. While it is true that some are simply bad to start with it's also a fact that some can be great and never get that chance because they get drafted by a bad team. Just look at Steve Young and his two years at Tampa Bay. The 1986 Bucs Young went 2-12, 8 TDs, 13 INTs with a completion percentage of 53.7. If left on that bad team Young would have never amounted to anything.

This is pure horse hockey. McD knew the last draft that the line wasn't good enough when he drafted Dawkins in the second round to replace Mills. Then when Glenn went down with an injury Dawkins replaced him at LT and played well. That still doesn't change the fact that this FO had the 2018 draft and free agency to replace some of the absolute scrubs on that line. Groy is one of the very worst centers and Miller was just about as bad. (Bodine gotta be better.) Neither player should be starting on an NFL team. There are better players out there and for some reason, this FO didn't/won't go after them. I find it hard to believe that there isn't a center or offensive guard out there on somebody's practice squad better than Groy, Miller. Bills fans just don't see how bad that line is even after watching all the QB pressures, sacks on the Bills QB starters for the Browns, Bengals, Ravens games. It's not just the line either as the receivers aren't getting separation or getting open a lot of the time. Then fans complain that the QB is holding the ball too long. I doubt very many NFL starting QB's would survive for very long behind the current Bills offensive line. The OC Groy was on his back most of the game and Miller was just about as bad. We can see it so I don't get why Beane/ McD don't see it

We're gonna know pretty quick if he starts the game out with that pass first, quick strike crap. This is not a strong passing team and it doesn't take a brainiac to see that much. The Bills need to get Shady involved in the run game first and then into open space in the passing game.

I agree to a point. Kim and Terry run this team and although they may listen to the fans quite a bit I kinda doubt they will follow with what the fans want. But C'mon Pickerman was beyond pathetic... as was the offensive line, as were the receivers, as was Daboll, as was the defense for a while, as was special teams. It's tough to win in the NFL when the entire team looks undisciplined, unprepared at first. The team came around but it was already out of hand and too late.

We can only hope for Allen's sake that Daboll removes his cranium from his posterior long enough to stop with the quick strike, pass-first offense and does pound the rock. The sad fact is we don't know what the Bills coaches are planning. But I can tell you that the entire Charger defense must be drooling at the thought of sending a blitz every play until Allen learns how to beat it. All they gotta do is watch that Cincy/Raven film to see that Groy and Miller are worthless.

You can start an NFL rookie QB or a steaming turd. Regardless I still don't want to start that rookie QB behind a historically bad offensive line. That OC and RG have no business starting an NFL game or even being backups for that matter.

Are you referring to the USFL team or his start with the 1986 Bills? Because if it's the Bills the reason for the 4-12 season was because the team started 2-7 under Hank Bullough and finished 2-5 under Marv. That team was far from horrible as they had Andre Reed, Pete Metzelaars, Rob Riddick, and on the line Ken Jones, Jim Ritcher, Kent Hull, Will Wolford, Joe Devlin. That was a darn near a great offensive line. Kelly was learning the NFL ropes and threw for 3593 yards with 22 TDs, 17 INTs. If Allen had anything remotely close to that kind of talent on the line I'd be calling for him to start too.

Also coached by our terrible OC who wants to run a pass first, quick strike offense with a pair of noobies at QB. I only hope at some point he realizes he doesn't have a Tom Brady / Aaron Rodgers at QB and needs to run the ball to give either QB a chance to play well.

You would think that if this coaching staff knew what they were doing that this would have happened already. Don't get me wrong here guys as I'm not championing Nate Peterman as I think he is probably the very worst Buffalo Bills QB ever. I just don't want to see that rookie QB ruined! Peterman sucks and if the team still had AJ McCarron or even Paxton Lynch, Matt Moore I'd say start them and let the rookie sit and learn.

It is confusing to me too. Looking at how poorly the offensive line has played all preseason and in that Ravens game. Both Groy and Mills shouldn't be starting or even backups for that matter. Looking at this receiver corps and their inability to get separation or get open a lot of the time. Looking at how Josh Allen played as the starter in that Cincy game and how Peterman played as the starter in the Ravens games leaves me to think this coaching staff doesn't have a freaking clue. Not to mention trading away AJ McCarron and not replacing him with another veteran QB.
