  1. Did McD break his foot off somewhere because this offense looks different from we have seen. so much running, I love it.
  2. Looks like they fixed some things...
  3. We both agree that establishing the run game first thing should be the priority. In three games McCoy has only gotten 21 attempts rushing combined and he should have at least that many in each game. It really is ridiculous how underutilized the run game has been and how overused Allen has been in the passing game as a rookie QB with no run game. Josh Allen is the teams leading rusher with 111 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs and he has more rushing TDs than any of the RBs after 4 games. My thoughts are we Bills fans get sucked into a new regime every few years with all new hopes and dreams only to see them shattered by people that really are clueless. I really like McD and Beane in what they did their first year. Now, not so much. These men have had time to fix the O line, the WRs and instead it seems like all they care about is the defense. We know that McD is a decent DC and so is the current DC Frazier. For that matter so is WR coach Terry Robiskie. All three have been head coaches too. So far his offensive hires as OC has sucked and his line coach has sucked for two years now but the line had Woods, Incognito so it wasn't so bad as it is now. We Bills fans can see how bad things currently are on offense so how does McD not see them too, and if he does why is he sitting on his hands? At some point during the season, McD's only real option is to replace Daboll with Robiskie and perhaps replace Castillio with assistant line coach Andrew Dees as he couldn't possibly do any worse. Will McDs refusal to fix the offense going to kill the season?
  4. While I agree that the line blocking has been a hot mess. I don't agree that you just give up on it and put the offense of the rookie QB shoulders like Daboll has been doing. Particularly when Shady McCoy was getting 4.8 YPC average in that GB game and this after only 5 carries. First of all, while Daboll might have the New England playbook. But he sure as hell isn't calling plays like McDaniels does for Brady. Their first priority is to protect Brady at all costs so the entire offense works in unison to pick up blocks if needed before their routes. Their second priority is to move the chains and make first downs with runs, dump offs to the RB (their leading pass catcher against the Colts was RB James White, Gronk was 2nd, Edelman was 3rd) Throws to the TE, short outs and once the QB establishes a rhythm and makes some first down they can take some chance with deeper downfield throws. Daboll isn't doing anything like that as he is trying to establish a deep downfield passing game when has so many issues to contend with. QB inability in reading protections and the line not helping with those reads at all. The receivers failing to get separation and get open. The line not managing to hold their blocks most of the time or blocking the wrong man. It should be easier to find ways to establish a run game besides the "I" formation run right up the middle. Need to get McCoy the ball and do it as the Patriots do with White as McCoy is even better. Which begs the question? How much longer? How many more loses before McD gets more involved with the offense? He has to know that no run game is killing the defense. At what point does he make a change?
  5. Dilfer was saying this before the draft that Allen wasn't ready to start day one. This kid could be another Mahomes if allowed to sit and learn.
  6. Someone else mentioned that Daboll calls offensive pass plays like he has Tom Brady at QB. Backed up at their own 6-yard line at GB Daboll calls 3 pass plays over even attempting to run to get some room to throw. On 3rd and 10 he calls for a 20 yard out? So, even if the line manages to hold their blocks, and even if the receivers do get separation and find a way to get open Allen needs to throw an accurate pass that can be caught. Sounds like an awful lot of "ifs" to get the passing game right. Wouldn't it be simpler to work the run game and then let Allen pick and choose his passes? Play action might actually work if the Bills could run the ball.
  7. The Bills did go with a 7 man line in that first series at GB after McCoy made 7 yards on first down they ran him again out of the I formation on second down up the middle and he got two yards. They went with Ivory on 3rd and one and he was stuffed. This with the Bills having 7 men on the line facing 5 packers on the line. The Packers Lbers saw run and they closed to the line fast. Ducasse overran the hole and allowed a Packer inside. After that failed 3rd and one, the Bills didn't even attempt many runs the rest of the game despite McCoy getting 4.8 YPC average. Shady saw 5 carries all game and he stated that the game plan going into this game was to get him the ball more. The Bills players on the line are incompetent as is the line coaching as is the play calling. Yes, the defense has been starting slow. Now stop and think about what the defense would look like if the Bills had a strong run game! The defense wouldn't be on the field as much and should the Bills get the lead I can see the defense doing to many teams what they did to the Vikings...provided Hughes isn't mugged, tackled, held at the line like he was in GB. The defense is the least of the team's problems right now IMO.
  8. WRs coach Terry Robiskie has experience as an NFL HC & OC and he coached a young Marcus Mariota at Tenn. I don't think I'd wait as long as some others suggest as the Jets game/bye week. The Bills have Tenn, Houston, Indy, NE, Chicago, Jets ahead before the bye week and currently 1-3. I think you need a decision in order to save the season and should the Bills lose the next three in a similar fashion to three of the first four. I'd make a change after the Indy game and even then it might not be fast enough to save this year if Allen gets injured before then. Nathan Peterman as the starter...
  9. Yea, that's what they said about Rex Ryan too. These owners want a competitive team that can contend with the Patriots and while backing into the playoffs last year was exciting. These owners understand the difference between winning the division and barely eeking out a wildcard berth. So far this team has taken huge steps backward this year and although it's only been four games it's been basically three blowouts. With the offense so abysmal and not because of the rookie QB. That rookie is being asked to should the entire offense because the run game doesn't work, the receivers stink, the offensive line stinks. Not even a veteran QB would do with this mess of an offense. 2013 the Atlanta Falcons had Matt Ryan, Julio, Roddy White, Tony Gonzalaz and went still 4-12. Just sayin. If the blowouts continue without some changes by the HC to that offense. I think the Pegula's make a change at some point this year or after the year. This is a performance-based business and these owners want to win. JMO
  10. Good stuff and Amen! This is why many of us wanted line coach/run game coordinator Juan Castillo fired along with Dennison. He did less with more last year and this year the O line coaching is basically non-existent. Castillo must have comprising pics of McD... Free rushers coming unblocked when a TE, RB, WR was there to make the block and it's like it doesn't even cross their mind. This is a rookie QB who doesn't yet know what he is looking at with defensive formations or who is coming or dropping, Every player on offense should be making a concerted effort to pick up a block if needed. Things are much worse than just free rushers coming unblocked though. This is about the line players blocking the wrong man, whiffing on blocks, not picking up stunts, not helping that rookie QB with protections. This entire offense is a joke with no run game and it really gets me mad as hell that the rookie QB the team spent so much time and effort to acquire probably won't survive the season.
  11. After thinking about it some more, McD did take over the play calling for Fraizer in the second half of that Ravens game and it did have an effect. Plus, he did pull Peterman and put n Allen. So, I think he does want to win this year. How many games do the Bills lose before McD takes some action to fix the offense, the run game, the protections? I for one don't put all the blame on the rookie QB when he is being asked to carry the entire offense.
  12. Shady and KB, not the only Bills expected to be there. Legends & Stars Show Autograph Guests Include: Ken Anderson, Matt Barnaby, Kelvin Benjamin, Dwier Brown, Mark Clayton, Mark Duper, Steve Grogan, Ron Guidry, Pat LaFontaine, LeSean McCoy, Jack McDowell, Andy Van Slyke, John Davis, Marv Levy, Andre Reed, Kurt Schulz, Billy Shaw, Antowain Smith, Bruce Smith, Emmitt Smith, Darryl Talley
  13. I'm not in the fire'em all camp just yet. Like I stated though, I've been around long enough to know when something is fixable or unfixable. This offense is fixable just by taking the offense off the rookie QB shoulders and put it squarely on LeSean McCoy's, Chris Ivory's shoulders. Be innovative! On third down and one instead of a run up the middle in the I formation with 7 Bills on the line, do a toss sweep, QB sneak and if it doesn't work don't give up on the run game. Only 5 carries for Shady against GB when he was averaging 4.8 YPC is ridiculous as is only 3 catches. 7 sacks on Allen was ridiculous too. How long does this HC wait to do something to fix the offense? When does it become too late to save the season? Does that rookie QB have to get ruined before things change? Like I also said, if McD is doing this on purpose to tank the year to get some of those pass rushers in the draft...then I hope he gets fired.
  14. It can though John, meaning that if McD gets fed up with seeing no run game and the entire offense placed on that rookie's shoulders game after game. There is no question that LeSean Mccoy is the best player on offense and he isn't being used. Look what happened in 2016 when Rex Ryan fired Greg Roman after two weeks of no run game and replaced him with RB coach Anthony Lynn. After losing two straight with no run game the Bills went on a four-game win tear after firing Roman. That first game in 2016 against Baltimore the Bills rushed 24 times for 64 yards (and at least Roman attempted to run the ball). That second game against the NY Jets the Bills rushed 19 times for 86 yards. The real culprit was Bills DC Dennis Thurman who allowed the Jets to rush 36 times for 123 yards, 3 Tds while controlling the clock 39:12 to 20:48. The next game against Arizona the Bills rushed 32 times for 208 yards, 3 TDs. At the end of the 2016 season, the Bills were #2 in rushing attempts, #1 in rush yards, #1 in rush TDs. by switching to Lynn as OC. Now you may ask who should McD turn to if he wants to make a change at OC. Bills WR coach Terry Robiskie has been an NFL head coach and an NFL OC. I really don't know if he can fix the offensive line protections or get the run game going. But the man did coach Marcus Mariota at Tenn and left Tenn along with Mularkey. Brian Daboll is going to get this rookie QB killed, concussed or ruined like JP, Trent Edwards if he doesn't change things up. McD is a defensive minded HC and he must know what happens with little or no run game. While I like McD, If his plan is to tank this year then I hope he gets fired.
  15. Sorry BB but I've seen enough Fu*kups in Buffalo Bills coaching over the years to know when a team is screwed. This year's offense is bad and will bring down the team. No amount of patience will help. The Buffalo Bills offensive line can't run block, can't pass block, they miss blocks, they block the wrong guy, they screw up protections so that a free Blitzer comes and they fail to even acknowledge it, much less pick it up. This is all on coaching! The Bills line coach/run game coordinator stinks! The Buffalo Bills receiver corps stinks in that they can't get separation, can't get open and are not being used properly to help the rookie QB. The Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator stinks! Once the team gets behind in points the offensive game plan goes out the window and the entire offense now rests on the rookie QB to make plays. This has happened in 3 of 4 games so far. The teams best player on offense is LeSean McCoy and he isn't even being used very often. He was getting 4.8 YPC average running against GB and he only had 5 carries. That is just criminally negligent. Shady is also the teams best receiver so he should always be an outlet for Allen if he is not running the ball, and yet...NOPE!
  16. John Fox was also a defensive minded NFL head coach who first stated he wanted high FOOTBALL Character guys...where is he now? Meanwhile McD has signed, retained and drafted low character players! It was Marv Levy that stated back in the 80s that... "Football doesn't build character, it reveals character." "Ability without character will lose. The Bills are going to be a team of high character. That stamp I will push very hard. I hope we can convey that to our fans and project something very special to the rest of the nation." — What also made Marv so good was his confidence in his own job security that he hired an ex Colts head coach in Ted Marchibroda to coach his offense. Ole Ted instilled that hurry up/no huddle offense with the old Redskins "counter trey" run scheme so Thurman could make those great cutbacks. Then he taught Jimbo to call his own offensive plays like the old time QBs used to do. So it didn't matter that much to the Buffalo offense when Marchibroda was rehired by the Colts to be their HC.
  17. Gailey used a lot of 5 WR sets that spread the offense from sideline to sideline. Now you would think would make it easier for pass rushers to get to the QB but Gailey had Fitz at QB and Stevie Johnson as WR. So Fitz would take the snap and throw a quick slant to SJ. Defenders didn't have time to respond and Johnson although not a precise route runner almost always managed to find a way to get open. This spread formation also made it great to run out of the shotgun and defenders would be so spread out all the RB had to do was beat one guy usually. To run this offensive scheme the OC would have to do some innovative things and so far Daboll can't even give his best weapon on offense the ball. So far Allen has more rushing yards then both Shady and Ivory. Ivory, 31 attempts, 81 yards in 4 games. McCoy, 21 attempts, 85 yards, 3 games. Allen has 116 yards rushing. To put it mildly so far Brian Daboll is by far the very worst offensive coordinator the Buffalo Bills has had as far back as I can remember. Even Alex Van Pelt and Turk Schonert were better. Buffalo is 31st in yards, 31st in points on offense. 32nd in passing yards, 32nd in passing TDs. If you takeaway the Minnesota game with Buffalo 38 rushes for 122 yards, 2 TDs (and Allen scored both those rushing TDs) this offense is outright abysmal.
  18. Trading for a WR isn't going to help with the protections or get Shady McCoy move involved in the offense. Instead, can we trade McD for McVay? Or trade for an OC that will use the run game more? Or trade for an O line coach/run game coordinator who knows how to teach the entire offense to block the free blitzer or better yet the man they are supposed to block? Julio Jones wouldn't help this offense if the QB has no time to throw, and even then he would be triple covered.
  19. Actually they are from turnstile city...
  20. Couldn't hurt as shady is the best player on offense and he should be seeing at least 25 touches a game. Last week he averaged 4.8 yards per carry, and they gave him only 5 carries
  21. Sure, if they give him more than 5 carries
  22. 4.8 YPC...which begs the question. WHY didn't they run it more? 5 rushes for McCoy is criminally stupid .
  23. While all four are contributing factors I agree with you that the line is the worst followed by the receivers, then Daboll. What does it say that the Bills opening drive at GB they had a 2nd and 3, and got 2 yards by running? Then on 3rd and one they couldn't get that one yard running it. This set the tone for the rest of the game as Daboll stopped running the ball and put the entire offense on the rookie QBs shoulders by passing every play. McCoy who is the offenses best* player saw only 5 rushing attempts, 3 passes. McCoy stated that after the game he was supposed to be the focal point and because the team got behind in points they start passing every down. McCoy is also the teams best receiver by far and he saw 3 only passes. In my view, the run game coordinator/line coach stinks in Juan Castillo as does Daboll. We have seen all this before with so many bad Buffalo Bills teams in that they get behind in points so the offensive game plan goes out the window.
  24. Interesting stuff... https://heavy.com/sports/2018/07/lesean-mccoy-girlfriend-delicia-cordon/
  25. I really feel badly that this talented kid needed to sit and learn and instead was thrown to the wolves on this years craptastic team. The OC refuses to run the ball or utilize the Bills best receiver in McCoy. The line coach is a joke and will help ruin this young man with lousy protections.
