  1. there is the difference between the teams... Special teams...and their receivers can actually catch the ball
  2. Jeez, why can't we have a receiver like that...
  3. No Bills receiver should be fielding punts, kickoffs as none can catch worth a darn. Dunno what the coaches are thinking.
  4. I agree. a top 30 NFL player and this RB is still elite if given any semblance of a hole to run through. And he is doing it without much of an offensive threat besides himself.
  5. I agree, run the ball...get the lead and don't go pass happy...EVER in this game!
  6. Daboll in 2009, Cleveland his first year as OC, Brady Quinn, Derek Anderson at QB, 30 in attempts, 32nd in passing yards. Browns went 5-11. Daboll in 2010, Cleveland in his second year as OC, Colt McCoy, Jake Delhomme, Seneca Wallace at QB. 28th in attempts, 29th in passing yards. Browns went 5-11. Daboll in 2011, Miami in his third year as OC, Matt Moore, Chad Henne, JP Losman at QB, 28th in attempts, 23rd in passing yards. Miami went 6-10. Daboll in 2012, KC in his fourth year as OC, Matt Cassell, Brady Quinn at QB, 29th in attempts, 32nd in passing yards. KC went 2-14. Since 2012 Daboll went back to NE to be assistant coach, TEs coach till 2016. Went Alabama to be their OC in 2017. Now that you see all that is it unusual that the Bills are currently 30th in passing attempts, 32nd in passing yards with a rookie QB?
  7. Agree with most of this. To the bolded part, anyone else recall in 2010 Gailey stating that QBs Trent Edwards, Brian Brohm, and Fitz were all about equal going into training camp and Chan chose Edwards as his starter. Then found out how bad Edwards was once the games started he was outright cut after two games. Gailey was lucky as hell that Fitz was even on the roster because he had as much insight into who should be the starter over those three QBs as any lame OC ever in the league. It was all Ryan Fitzpatrick who literally ran for his life each week until Nix found Urbik, Pears off the waiver wire. Fitz ran the ball 40 times that year for 269 yards, a 6.7 YPC average. The team had Lynch, Spiller and Jackson at RB. Traded away Lynch after four games I believe and he was averaging 4.4 YPC. Spiller 3.8, Fred 4.2. Spiller was another byproduct of Gailey's stupidity as he named Spiller the starting RB that season because Lynch had a leg injury and Freddie had a cast on his hand. Game one against Miami we all found out that Spiller couldn't find a hole, couldn't block, couldn't run a route. How does this happen on an NFL team? Anyway Spiller finished the day with 7 attempts rushing for 6 yards, 5 targets, 4 rec for 8 yards. When all was said and done after the Buffalo Bills losing 8 straight games in 2010. While the Bills did give the Chiefs and Ravens a scare in OT and all because Fitz started finding Stevie Johnson and Lee Evans in Gailey's smoke and mirror scheme. A five WR spread set and usually Stevie seeing the ball the majority of the time. Stevie wasn't a precise route runner but Fitz would find him almost always open right away with a quick pass and this worked almost against everyone. Later on Spiller would also find some great success running out of the shotgun in Gailey's spread formation mostly because the offense is spread across the field, so is the defense and usually the RB had only one defender to beat for a big run. Anyway, Fitz would get to the line, look over the defense and call the proper protections because he knew from experience what he was looking at. Both Edwards and Brohn couldn't do that and Gailey didn't know that. so yeah, to the bolded second part. Daboll should be setting up an offense for a rookie QB that also doesn't know what he is looking at when he sees a defense giving him a disguised look. Instead he has been asking him to set/throw like he is a seasoned veteran that has reliable receivers with a line that can hold pass blocks for three seconds. Finally, after watching this rookie QB flounder in three games attempting to make Daboll's passing scheme work. The Bills made the run game work with 43 attempts for 144 rushing yards and Allen scoring the only TD of the day by running it. It really was great to see how much more effective Allen could be in a run oriented scheme, particularly on that game winning drive. Not that he was great all game as it's just that he made two needed first down throws on that final drive. Going forward, Allen should do much better with a run first scheme where play action will be much more successful and where the rookie QB can pick and chose his passes. Provided of course that Daboll doesn't revert to his pass first scheme once the team gets behind in points again. Gailey would also do this time and time again by putting the entire game on Fitz's shoulders once the team got behind in points and most of the time even with all his experience/ knowladge Fitz couldn't pull it out. Some of the Buffalo Bills Franchise biggest blowout losses came this way 3-45 Win by SF, 17-50 Win Seahawks in 2012. Hence the best Gailey ever did as a Bills HC was 6-10. Add heartbroken for me to the blend disappointed and furious.
  8. I think he is a great player and has two more years on his current deal in Buffalo. His kind of talent doesn't come along that often so that is why the Bills traded for him and would be foolish to trade him away. The only reason he doesn't have really good numbers so far this year is because Daboll hasn't used him in 2 games.
  9. No way would I trade the Bills best player of offense if they want to continue to win games and at 2-3 it's not at the throw in the towel stage yet. I look at LeSean McCoy and see another Barry Sanders and a game changer. So how many of those are in the draft next year?
  10. Can we trade the OP to the Eagles instead?
  11. I like the signing. Seems like Beane waited until he found a veteran QB who would actually mentor Allen and they know him, like him. Changes nothing on the field. If he picks up the playbook quick enough I gotta wonder if they plan on keeping Peterman
  12. It really is crazy that KB and Mike Evans are so similar physically and yet so different on the field. His rookie season he was a monster... now is a cookie monster...
  13. Man, I was so freaking excited when I saw that Beane had traded for KB! and "disinterested" seems to be an appropriate word to describe his behavior on the field recently. Hard to imagine a player with that much talent, that big a target, not shiving a git about doing his job. Where is "the culture" with this player? It's like he would rather be anywhere but "here" on gameday. I saw him attempting to block a much smaller DB with his arms and he actually got in the way of Chris Ivory's run. Can the Bills hire Ex Steeler Hines Ward to instill some passion, teach him how to block, teach him how to go after that ball like DeAndre Hopkins? What a waste.
  14. Notice which assistant coaches on the Bills staff got game balls after those wins?
  15. With the current Ravens it's not for lack of trying as they are currently 10th in rushing attempts. My point was that Flacco was developed into a strong pocket passer in a run first scheme and he eventually won a SB. Josh Allen had his moments yesterday as he threw for two first downs on that game winning drive. Allen loved to throw the Ball at Wyoming and like that team he had a bad line, WR corps. Right now it makes more sense to do it like they did it against the Titans.
  16. Like me, I think most Bills fans relishes, loves old school style of football in which you pound the rock and play great defense. That style of play has worked all throughout the history of the NFL from Lombardi's Packers, to Shula's Dolphins, to Joe Gibbs hogs, to Marv's Bills, to the current Ravens with Joe Flacco. Pounding the rock worked then and it still works in today's game. And yes, even the K-gun with the no huddle was a run first scheme that relied upon Thurman Thomas being 70% of the offense. The Bills used to run Thurman with his cutbacks and teams were so determined to stop him that Kelly would throw to Reed over the linebackers moving up to stop Thurman. The Ravens have proven you can pound the rock and still properly develop a QB to compete with the rest of the league. Plus, they have won a super bowl with that QB.
  17. So many Bills fans literally hated the Josh Allen pick when it was announced and they acted like they were gut shot by the news. I can also recall that so many fans wanted Beane to trade up with the NY Giants at the #2 spot to grab Josh Rosen by giving up this years picks of two #1s, #2s, #3s and even next years #1. (I gotta wonder if the Giants and Broncos now regret not going after a QB early in this years draft class) Anyway, the entire world knew that Josh Allen was a project and he needed to sit a year like the Chiefs did with Mahomes. He wasn't supposed to start but Peterman as the starter was an even worse option. We all know he can't yet read defenses, set protections, throw receivers open. But he is learning. The thing is, if this team can keep running the ball like they did today and throw only when least expected then Allen can perhaps develop into that franchise QB we all want. Allen is this teams starting QB. If you love the Bills...
  18. Probably gave the Bills defense some very helpful insight into the Titans offensive playbook considering he was their OC just last year. Good stuff 26, thanks for posting
  19. Making a rookie QB constantly carry the offense on his shoulders with a lousy receiving corps with a line that does not protect well against constant Jailbreaks will not allow this rookie QB to develop properly. Unless you want another JP, Trent Edwards? What it will do is get him killed like it has nearly done in the three losses. 7 sacks by Green Bay, 3 sacks by the Ravens, 5 sacks by the Chargers vs one sack today against Tennessee. Allen can develop just fine like he did today in that final game winning drive with two throws for first downs. Many had said that this kid wasn't ready to start day one and he clearly wasn't ready. Yet, he was thrown into the fire because Peterman isn't an NFL starter. That doesn't mean you have him sling the ball around like he is Tom Brady who is usually always well protected, on a good offense with good weapons. Josh Allen needs more of Jauron Ball... to not only develop properly... but to survive this season on a bad offensive team.
  20. While it's true Whaley had an eye for some defensive talent. It was that Idiot Indy GM Grigson who initiated that trade with Buffalo for Hughes as he wanted that last #1 pick of Bill Polian gone from the team. I have friends that are Colts fans and they are still bitching about Grigson who made the phone call to Buffalo. It was also Chip Kelly who called Buffalo to move LeSean McCoy out of Philly to Buffalo and Whaley obliged. To his credit Whaley did have a hand in helping build a better Buffalo Bills roster in certain areas.
  21. In the drunken stupor where you think Allen is "physically" lighter than Tyrod Taylor? Did you also miss the two passes for first downs he made on the game winning drive? I used to respect your opinion and read your posts. After reading this I do believe that you will carry this dislike for a player you dislike no matter what he does.
  22. Thank you Miami for the brand new addition to the Buffalo Bills defensive line.
  23. This, exactly this! Joe Flacco in his rookie year had Cam Cameron as his OC to develop him and they mostly ran the ball in 2008 with 433 passing attempts vs 592 rushing attempts! Rex Ryan was their DC and the formula was run the ball, play great defense. I watched in some games that Cameron would use two tackle eligible to run the ball, to protect that rookie QB. It worked then, it can work now. When the team is successful running the ball, play action works so well and it also allows the QB to pick and choose his passes. Like the shotgun play that Allen threw on the winning drive to McCoy on 3rd and 3 for 13 yards from the Bills 31 when the run game was stuffed. Like the shotgun underneath pass to Ray-Ray on 2nd and 5 for a first down with 1:36 to play causing Tenn to use their third and final timeout. Ohhh, That's right, it wasn't all running the ball as Allen threw for two first downs on that winning drive and the pass to McCoy was the longest of the day.
  24. While I agree with part of that last sentence with the game ball. There was a time at the start of the second half where Daboll started calling #17's number every play, and after that debacle started calling runs again. So, it wasn't perfect. To be honest, I don't even know it was all Daboll as McD stated that this "run the ball game plan" was "the" game plan for the day and he might have broken a foot off when things started to go the other way... All I know is I'm very happy that Daboll called it this way to, allow Shady, Ivory to carry the offense, to protect that rookie QB, to help the defense stay off the field, to help the offensive line so they don't look so horrid, to win the game!
