I got shouted at for daring to question Wood's play last year but he really was poor. I've heard all the excuses about guard play but he lost his fair share of 1-on-1 matchups. I remember Letroy Guion walking him into Orton's lap quite vividly. He's the 8th highest paid Center and he's not living up to that. Could have Joe Hawley for less than half of Wood's salary and the dropoff would be minimal.

Jason Campbell was my QB of choice for the backup/spot starter vet. Still stand by my choice but apparently the NFL disagrees with me.

With a guy like Mettenberger (who I do love), you could justify it as a long term move given the length of his contract. If he comes in after the bye and shines, you can move forward with him for the foreseeable future. If not, his price tag wouldn't prohibit you from drafting another one in April. From this standpoint, I'm certainly happy for them to try it. Just can't see them admitting after a couple of months that they picked up the wrong options.

Good news! They exhausted all their picks by the 5th round.

It's probably too late in the process to bring in someone. I don't think there's anyone of a 'reasonable' standard that has any degree of knowledge of the Roman scheme so it's basically just teaching them from scratch. Orton came in late August to a fairly simplistic scheme and wasn't ready until after the season started. With a much more diverse offense, it's hard to imagine anyone from outside the organisation would be conceptually aware enough to take the reigns in Week 1.

Those live reps at RG for John Miller at Louisville are certainly going to come in handy for him.
