  1. Greg Roman is an imperfect coach that loves the same things in football that I do. If anyone ever thought that the NFL would hire him as a head coach, they're probably not worth listening to. He would encounter the same issues with game management that plagues a lot of coaches.
  2. I remember when this was a Kirk Cousins thread after a couple games.
  3. Oh, don't get me wrong. I don't expect them to fire Rex before 3 years even if he loses every game from now until then. It would look incredibly stupid and screams ineptitude on a scale that would put most coaches off ever considering Buffalo. I'm a big continuity guy. Over here 22 of 92 Premier League and Football League managers have been sacked since August (http://www.thesackrace.com/news/28th-august-2012/20122013-managerial-casualties), I know all too well that panic is not the way to do things. I just feel that continuity of something that I don't think will be positive is the answer. I feel about Rex how I feel. I'm open to having my mind changed. That hasn't happened yet. I'm just not built to give him the benefit of the doubt over a future that might or might not come to fruition.
  4. I'll give Rex Ryan the respect he deserves as a defensive mind. There are very few that are comparable to him and I'm not sure there's anyone better. The major problem that I have with Rex is that he's not what I class as Head Coach material. If you give me Greg Roman as the OC and Rex Ryan as the DC, that is my football nirvana. They are the coaches that play the way I want my team to play. I just think that there's more nuance to being a head coach than Rex Ryan is capable of. His game management is abysmal (yesterday wasn't anywhere close to a one-off), I think the way he manages men leaves a lot to be desired in terms of active accountability for errors. A head coach needs to be more like a statesman than a fan in my ideals. I have no faith that Rex Ryan can be what I want him to be.
  5. They can have the long term vision they want. It doesn't mean that it's right. I can have my opinion regardless of it they agree. I hope I'm wrong but I very much doubt that I am.
  6. Well, I certainly didn't want him in the first place. The leash was short and the little patience I had is gone. I guess I'm not alone.
  7. It's so weird with IK. No marginal player gets the second chance he got. He's Jerry's backup but he's more Mario than Jerry. Nothing makes a damn bit of sense.
  8. I just think that if every marginal player got cut after playing badly in relief, IK would've been long gone after the Bengals game. I'm putting this firmly in the 'Rex gonna Rex' file and move on. I'm not dying on a hill for AJ Tarpley
  9. There's a distinct lack of accountability. AJ played poorly, no doubt. I'm just saying that people are calling for heads to be chopped off and they got their wish.
  10. If we were cutting linebackers due to poor play, they;d all be gone by now. Feels very much like a sacrifice for the masses.
  11. Jerry makes me want to punch kittens. If we had anyone to replace him with, I'd actually bench him for at least a quarter. Problem is, IK hurts the team more.
  12. Jerry Hughes and his bloody penalties.
  13. Clemson connection so of course Rex has him around.
  14. When that happens, I'm applying. Danny Crossman annoys me more than any other human being alive. Essentially, you're going down the line of Occam's razor. I dig that.
  15. I noticed something in his technique in preseason (particularly the miss vs Cleveland). I'm going to dig through his 2014 kicks to see if he did it last year. If I'm not seeing things, it's easily fixable. If I'm seeing things, it's likely a mental block. If so, bye Dan.
  16. Let's take St Louis. Jeff Fisher is in his 4th year now and has a 24-33-1 record. How many years does he get under your idea that consistency solves everything?
  17. But stagnation isn't going to achieve anything either.
  18. It's going to be a horrible 16-13 overtime win for someone. I expect a slugfest with both defensive units dominating and the lowest PFF grade ever for Seantrel.
  19. Genuinely think that he's well worth a draft pick as early as the 3rd. I don't see him failing at all. Given my fascination with kickoffs and touchbacks though, I'd rather use a late round pick on Ka'imi Fairbairn from UCLA. 20 of 22 this year, perfect on XP's and has a touchback rate of 73.33% this year (55 of 75). I know I'm a nerd.
  20. If you're going to punch a dude while he's wearing a helmet, a flag is the least of your worries.
  21. Dear Mr Whaley, You have given me many great moments in the past couple of years but this one is by far the greatest thing you've ever done. We truly don't deserve you.
  22. I'm a fan of Gunner Kiel but I think he's firmly in the Petty category now. No matter what happens with the ball in his hand, his injury list is just becoming too long. I hate to do it after a hit that he had nothing to do with but I think I'm drawing a line through his name for good.
