Absolutely. The next 4 games are huge games. If he ends up being the first Bills QB in forever and a day to lead them to the playoffs, I might write him the cheque myself! There's a lot to like about the guy. He gives the offense a legitimate threat deep which takes that 8th man out of the box. He helps the run game as much as the run game helps him. He's a bright, engaging character. He's assumed a leadership role naturally on a team with a few potentially challenging personalities. He has been a lot better than I thought he would be but I'm not completely sold yet. By my very nature, I look for a significant body of work. That's not Tyrod's fault that he doesn't have that at this point, it's just a statement of fact. With another year to tailor the scheme to him, maybe he can take another step in his progression but the NFL isn't a league built on guaranteed development. Call me optimistic but cautious. What if you pay him now and the NFL works him out? You're stuck with a huge liability both on the field and on the books. If he proves to be good enough to be a franchise QB (which I think he's some way off from proving), pay him whatever the hell he wants. I see no harm in waiting. The Bills have a cash-rich owner that can influence his cap number, Mario's salary will almost certainly be off the books by then too. Also, think about the kind of guy we're talking about. He came to Buffalo because he bet on himself. He's in a situation with a head coach that believes in him, an OC that is building a playbook just for him. A fan base that is currently besotted with him. I don't think he'll feel slighted by waiting, he's waited his whole professional career. He might also want to repay the loyalty to Rex and the Pegulas.

I'm going to be firmly against drafting him. I'm just not ever going to be convinced that he's not a psychopath. I've spoke to a few people that played with/against him in high school, nobody has the slightest shred of respect for him. When a mild-mannered person tells you that "it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up in prison", I tend to listen. You're seeing at the moment in Cleveland that someone with character flaws isn't going to develop and be successful if he's constantly getting in his own way. I hope for his sake that he makes the most of his talent and he doesn't travel down the path some have him pegged for. The Kelly family as a whole has already been through too much to wish him to self-destruct. I just can't pull the trigger on him if I had a say.

Whaley pursuing re-signing both Incognito and Glenn
Blokestradamus replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jared Veldheer is a decent contract comparison. Both have been durable and solid if unspectacular starters at LT. Veldheer's deal in 2014 was 5 years for $35m. With inflation, you're probably looking in the region of $8-8.5m a year for Cordy. Seems reasonable enough if he can be attained for that kind of salary. With Richie, it's anyone's guess. There's nobody with similar circumstances to Richie but he's 33 over the summer. Anything more than a 2 year deal seems unlikely. Never thought I'd be vouching for his re-signing. -
Crystal Ball: Top Prospects for 2016 NFL Draft

Yeah, third strike violating team rules and Richt had enough of him. Went to live with his grandfather and got a construction job. Todd Grantham recruited him to UGA and gave him a second chance. This article is actually a decent read on him - http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/13575959/louisville-josh-harvey-clemons-second-chance-begins-familiar-opponent I've not seen much of him this year but the old adage that you can't teach size or speed makes me curious. 6' 5", 230lbs, runs a 4.5. Kid screams being a 'Rex guy'. -

I figured as much. I don't think there's much point scouting anything but the ACC for the next few years. -

I know so many people that love the guy but I just don't see it. Everyone wants him to be Kam Chancellor because of the size but he's not even a box safety. -
The "can Dan" Carpenter thread
Blokestradamus replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dan was actually one of the more vocal opponents to the rule change, mainly on the grounds of safety - http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12920452/extra-point-change-add-collisions-dan-carpenter-buffalo-bills-says Maybe it's all a ploy to make them think that games could be decided on it and they might revert to the old rule? Of course, this is 99.9% sarcastic on my behalf. -

The only kicker I've ever banged the table for and we actually drafted him. Really happy for Dustin, he's a good dude. Just wish he didn't get injured his rookie year. Draft Ka'imi Fairbairn and prosper. -
Kinda reminds me of how Henderson handled Cam Wake in Week 2 of his rookie year. Only that people neglected to mention all the help he got.

Crystal Ball: Top Prospects for 2016 NFL Draft
Blokestradamus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just can't like him. He's a tough dude and gives 100% of what he has, all that good stuff. I just can't stand him as a prospect. But he's tall, white, prototypical size. Gil Brandt probably has him #1 overall. -
Spriggs will be a Top 50 pick unless something dramatic happens. That dude is damn good. Deaver was so promising before he did his knee in. Not watched Duke this year but his 2013 games were very impressive.

Mario Williams a Buffalo Bill next year?
Blokestradamus replied to r henderson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wilkerson is in the 96th percentile (from Mockdraftable) when it comes to arm length in terms of interior DL so he's very nearly in a class of his own. Mario is at 33 7/8", whereas the positional average over the draft classes Mockdraftable has archived is 33.24" so he's hardly lacking. When you look at his explosion compared to your regular IDL, it's off the charts. When Wilkerson's numbers are put into context in terms of weight density, you can see that he's just as much of a freak as Mario is athletically. Henry Anderson was my 5-tech of choice in the last class and he's pretty much the physical prototype. 6'6", 294 pounds, 33 1/2" arms. -
Mario Williams a Buffalo Bill next year?
Blokestradamus replied to r henderson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Genuinely hope he is. Also that he's used properly next year. Mario is a freaky athletic dude with long arms, let him play 5-tech and prosper. Some form of restructure seems inevitable but it makes very little sense to get rid of him unless he's so against playing any part in a 3-4. -
What defensive players fit Rex's scheme?
Blokestradamus replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, my very much written in pencil starting base D for next year looks like this: Mario - NT unknown - Dareus SOLB unknown - Brown - ILB unknown - Hughes Darby Gilmore Williams Graham Kyle is probably gone, Bradham doesn't fit, McKelvin is expensive for depth. Lawson is still a serviceable player but Rex typically likes his OLB's a little bigger. TJ Barnes, Ty Powell and Randell Johnson are the current roster guys that would fit the missing pieces the best but you'd like to do better. -

The narrative will be 'Oh, he played for Duke therefore he's smart' but he really is. Football IQ is off the charts. I'll probably start writing some guys up after New Year. My first piece might be what has the working title of 'Go **** Yourself, Kevin Hogan'. -

Over at billsmafia.com, we've officially hit draft season. Rob did a couple of write-ups on possible Rex fits. Reggie Ragland - http://billsmafia.com/2015/11/30/2016-nfl-draft-is-alabamas-reggie-ragland-the-linebacker-rex-ryans-defense-needs/ Jeremy Cash - http://billsmafia.com/2015/12/01/2016-nfl-draft-scouting-jeremy-cash-the-perfect-safety-for-rex-ryan-buffalo-bills-defense/ SPOILER ALERT - They are both rather good at football. -

2015-16 Buffalo Bills Negative Thread
Blokestradamus replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if that's true (which it isn't), Jerry has to know that he's put a target on his back with his actions and refs are begging for a reason to get him again. He's stupid beyond belief.
