  1. Just wait until the Combine. He'll be this years Paul Dawson.
  2. Is this real life? Yeah, I can see him being a late first rounder in the right situation. He's a playmaker, the ball seems to find him a lot. Couple of years down the line, he might be superb.
  3. Development doesn't happen overnight. It takes the right guy in the right system with the right coaches and a lot of patience. While I don't think drafting one every year is the way to go, I think you have to be prepared to cut ties and start over if it becomes apparent that you got the wrong guy. I believe this is the boat the Bills find themselves in with EJ.
  4. Yeah, Lee is still really raw. Declared too early. I've got him as a 3rd round 4-3 WILL. He's got potential but there's quite a few guys I have ahead of him because they're more likely to get a quick return on investment. I'm going to get to Josh Perry next week. Was gutted he pulled out of the Senior Bowl.
  5. Won't cure the need for a KO specialist. Suisham is woeful on kickoffs.
  6. I keep going back and forth on Darian. Couple of games where he looks like a top flight center fielder. Couple where he looks like just another guy. I need to do more digging but his best play is extremely enticing. With Dillon, I'm willing to invest in versatility and athletic ability. Same with Tevin Carter from Utah that I mentioned in my Shrine Game piece. I think for the past couple of drafts, the safety group has been much of a muchness. It's forced me to hone in on specific traits that I want. I want athletes like Dillon and I want ball skills like AJ Stamps possesses. When you find unicorns like Jalen Ramsey that have both and a lot more, it's easy. Once you're fishing through mid-late round guys, I buy what you can't really teach.
  7. My Senior Bowl preview for @TheBillsMafia - http://buffalofambase.org/2016/01/29/2016-senior-bowl-preview/ I called my shot on a safety that is currently getting little to no attention.
  8. The poor guys at the Combine are going to need a sundial to clock his 3-cone. As you said, he's a terrible player with no positive traits outside of being tall and that meme.
  9. Not watched him yet but makes sense. Tall, long corner. 6' 1", 209, 33 3/8" arms.
  10. It's one of the pitfalls of being an Urban Meyer QB. The scheme isn't really built for complexity. Alex Smith is the only Urban QB with any kind of NFL success and it took him 5 years to reach a level of play that you can get by with in the NFL. I don't like using "played for this coach, won't work" logic but there's a pattern that's emerged with Meyer. I don't like it one bit. Same thought process goes for Art Briles. It'll be a cold day in hell before I draft one of his QB's early.
  11. The Bills need pass rushers. You need to follow @JuMosq. The ForcePlayers work that Justis does is pretty special. There seems to be a direct correlation between guys that fit his formula and high sack numbers in the NFL. It's worth putting up with his woeful music taste.
  12. Came in today at 6' 5/8", 249. Bigger than I thought he would be. Watching him tomorrow for my Senior Bowl preview. I'll report back then.
  13. With that length, the Seahawks might convert him to tackle! I was a fan of Hall last year while watching Xavier Williams and thought I discovered a gem. Played a bit of safety this year too. Wouldn't hate him as an early Day 3 pick.
  14. Northern Iowa. UNI, not NIU. But yeah, he's getting picked 3rd round by Seattle. He is their prototype. Really good player too.
  15. Anyone wants to keep a handy list of Senior Bowl measurements, Bryan Perez of Draft Breakdown is updating this list from Mobile. http://draftbreakdown.com/2016-senior-bowl-weigh-in-results/
  16. Phil Savage (Senior Bowl director) said that only DeForest Buckner, Ryan Kelly and Connor Cook flat out declined to play. I guess Buckner makes some sense but the other two are idiots. Devontae Booker, Jon Bullard, Shilique Calhoun, Taylor Decker, Josh Doctson, Tyler Higbee, Jordan Lucas, Kolby Listenbee & William Jackson accepted but pulled out with injuries. Adam Gotsis, Karl Joseph, Max Tuerk and Will Redmond were not invited due to major injuries during the season.
  17. Screw evading them. Copy them.
  18. https://twitter.com/JoshNorris/status/691985797281484801 Everyone bar Allen ticks the hand size box. Bills seem to have a 9" threshold from recent pickups, EJ and Taylor both over 10" hand span. I know it's stupid but teams take this stuff seriously.
  19. Apparently, Brandon Allen measured in at the Senior Bowl with 8 1/2" hands. That's going to wipe him off at least half the draft boards across the league. Carson Wentz came in at 10", will meet every threshold.
  20. Not watched him myself but that boy carries a lot of versatility. Starts at LT, RG and RT. Multiple weight room records at Mizzou. Also has a luscious head of hair. Needs to work on growing a proper beard though.
  21. Not so much his ceiling but a career projection for Wentz is something akin to Russell Wilson. I know, nothing about that sounds right but bear with me! The reason that I earmarked Buffalo/Denver as landing spots (outside of offensive fit) is because they could both sustain success with defensive personnel (yes, I think Rex can revive the D to that level) and do similar to what Seattle did with Wilson. Run the ball, control the clock, play suffocating defense and gradually mix the passing game into the fold more and more over time. I think both Wilson and Wentz are very nuanced passers but both needed to work on their play in the pocket early on. You've started to see it come to fruition with Wilson this year and, for the first time, he's been able to put the team on his shoulders for extended periods of the game and won games by himself. I think with the right plan, you could see Wentz make similar strides as a passer and a leader on the field. It's taken 4 years for Wilson to reach that point. It might take Wentz as long, maybe even longer, to assume that position. Maybe Seattle could've taken the reigns off Wilson earlier and the injuries to Lynch just forced their hands to allow it this season. I can only speculate. Either way, Wentz isn't as accomplished as Wilson was so the learning curve is significantly steeper. I don't think Wentz is destined for superstar status but I think if you stand by him for the duration of his rookie contract, he'll earn his way into a lucrative second deal. Like Miami has done with Tannehill, you have to let him make his mistakes and use them as teachable moments.
  22. Great-nephew of Alex. 7th member of the Karras family to play Big Ten football.
  23. I do like this piece on Ted Karras. Sounds like a guy Bills fans would take to their hearts pretty quickly. http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/117940/illinois-ol-teddy-karras-finds-success-by-controlling-intensity
