  1. Pre-draft, I heard a few stories about him that put me off wanting him but nothing this bad. Either the Browns were negligent in their background checks or he's just spiralling out of control.
  2. I'm glad that something like this is coming into place. I'm annoyed that some of the crusty old folks that run NFL teams need to be forced to do it.
  3. I need to go back to him at some point. Watched him over the summer and had a borderline UDFA grade on him.
  4. Couple of small school guys that I thought I'd mention while I remember. Trenier Orr - currently with Sam Houston State, Cincinnati transfer. Cedrique Chaney - Central Washington (D2). Got busted for a DUI, suspended indefinitely during the season. Ridiculous athlete though.
  5. Thanks. I think that Rex needs smart guys over pure athletes, given the multitude of looks he employs. I think Kentrell's football IQ really sets him apart. I noticed one thing on the arm length. Brothers and David Harris are arm length twins so I'm confident it wouldn't put Rex off him. Now, if only he could run Harris' 4.6 time.
  6. CBS has him as a 3rd/4th rounder. Sounds about right to me. Teams might be put off by his short arms and he's a bit of an Iupati type. Ridiculous run blocker, iffy pass blocker. Not made for every team.
  7. The guy that called him the 'Rodfather' was pretty awesome.
  8. I couldn't take him before the 4th given his lack of game experience and the fact that I'd want him to change body shape and position but he's an intriguing guy. Needs a lot of coaching to get him out of some bad habits but he's firmly on my radar. I think he's too stiff to play either 4-3 DE or 3-4 SLB as an every down type of guy. I don't really penalise a guy for having good teammates. It's obviously something to take note of but it's out of his control. I wouldn't take Robinson, Ragland, Reed or Allen off my wish list because of the other 3. The NFL is supposed to be the cream of the crop so everyone *could* play with elite talent at the next level.
  9. I like it. The team could really do with some consistency from a return man, I hope he's the guy.
  10. "Tyrod wins SB from the pocket. Why is my voicemail full of Cam Newton laughing at me?"
  11. If he can play, I can judge him. And, as I said earlier, the accuracy wasn't my issue.
  12. Only one game in but I really quite like Carl Nassib. The one year of production thing bothers me but he seems like a guy the Bills might take a look at long term to put some weight on and play 5-Tech. For a dude who's nearly 6' 7", his pad level is very good. Frankly, I already like him more than DeForest Buckner!
  13. I really wonder if folks will still think Nkemdiche is a 3-4 DE fit if he comes in at 6' 2" and 270-ish lbs. There's also rumours of a s**t storm coming surrounding the Ole Miss recruitment of him and Tunsil.
  14. I blame everyone else. My votes were amazing.
  15. Say what you really mean, Gil! @Gil_Brandt - I'm convinced Manziel is sabotaging his stay in Cleveland in order to get out. No one can be that dumb.
  16. I really hope he does something in a coaching capacity at some point. He'd be great working with Trent Dilfer on the Elite 11 stuff. This past year has been cringeworthy watching him play but he's earned the right to go out on his terms.
  17. I'm not overly enamoured with the TE class this year but Higbee is definitely my favourite thus far.
  18. Devastating news for Tony and her family. People at Clemson have set up an online sympathy card if anyone is interested in leaving a message - http://www.tigernet.com/misc/sympathy_steward.html
  19. Is it just me or is there a little Kelvin Benjamin to him? You know, minus the dread pulling to get open and dropping everything.
  20. Higbee all damn day!
  21. I'll admit to being torn on Cook. There's some things about him that I love and some that I hate. There's no middle ground for me. On his good days, he's like the love child of Matt Stafford and Brett Favre. He knows he's got a good arm and he's damned if he's letting a defender get in the way of him showing it off. I think his placement is a bit sketchy but he wants to push the ball down the field. If his decision making was better on when to do it, I'd probably have a 1st round grade on him. Problem is that his bad play makes him look like the love child of Jay Cutler and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Those inexplicable boneheaded moments where you can almost see his brain oozing out of his ears. Unfortunately for Connor, they come at the worst moments and in the biggest games. The INT vs Iowa this year, the pick-6 vs Stanford in 2013, the INT at the end of the semifinal vs Bama. All decisions that are made when he gets frantic. For a QB who is so mentally switched on in terms of progressions and anticipation, it's maddening to see him struggle with other aspects of the mental game. I've not seen him improve in those areas in 3 years so I'm not convinced that you can fix him now. For a fan base that wants rid of EJ for the Wembley debacle, I don't see how many are happy with the idea of Cook. At his worst, that quick stretch at Wembley could happen to him too. The shoulder is obviously not going to help but it was more mental errors. The pick he threw in the grasp of the defender. Taking a sack that took them out of FG range for Geiger (thrown away, the kick is from 47 - his season long. Missed from 52) when he could've just thrown it away because he was outside the pocket.
  22. I wrote something on Kentrell Brothers - http://buffalofambase.org/2016/02/02/2016-nfl-draft-scouting-potential-bills-target-kentrell-brothers/ I've had issues on Firefox with it not loading the videos. If you have similar issues, let me know. IE works just fine.
  23. After 3 games in 2013 (OSU, Minnesota, Stanford) and 6 games in 2014 (Nebraska, Baylor, OSU, Purdue, PSU, JSU), I had Cook as 66.5% accurate. Adding in WMU, Oregon, PSU, Iowa, Alabama from 2015, Cook is 66.5% accurate. He's nothing if not consistent. For comparison sake, Wentz and Goff are hovering around the 80% mark.
  24. Re-watching Connor Cook vs Alabama. He started off so well, first 10 passes were 7 accurate targets, 2 PI calls and a throw away on a busted play. Missed one easy target and he started to come undone a bit. One bad pass brought three. Shook it off, came back with a couple of money throws and then threw the pick. Nothing different than any other Cook game, he just tried to confirm his first read and convinced himself it was on. If you want to bash him for choking in a big game, watch the Iowa game. Dude was BAAAAD.
  25. He's also the first NC State OL to be named All-American since Jim Ritcher in 1979.
