  1. Don't strain something while you pat yourself on the back.
  2. Best player on that field is Northwestern LB Anthony Walker. God, he could be so good. Watched the game live and Hogan had me bursting into laughter a couple times.
  3. There's also been quite a bit of talk that he'll get picked by Atlanta if he's on the board for them. Apparently they see him as a possible Mike or Will LB. Which is......interesting.
  4. This sucks. Delete it, start over again.
  5. I'm sure most teams would love to do that (and Wentz absolutely needs it) but it's a results-driven business. That type of investment needs to bear fruit at some point, especially if the on-field product isn't good. Fans get antsy, ownership gets testy. I don't see them holding off as long as they probably need to. I hope they do for Carson's sake, just can't see patience being a virtue. I get why Sam would feel the need to look elsewhere. It's not long ago that the Eagles made a big commitment to him.
  6. They've just paid a king's ransom for Carson Wentz. There is no competition. QB of the future starts when they want him to. Sam is right to want out because he'll be shown the door at some point. Why not try and find a place that'll commit to you long term? He's lost enough time to injury, why should he want to waste more time on the bench if he can start elsewhere?
  7. I'm the only one that actually wants him playing Week 4, aren't I?
  8. So I have smart to add to lunch pail, gritty and sneaky athletic in the white guy stereotype bingo. Poor LeRaven, not much going his way. Stuck with that name for life as well.
  9. When did OSU become the Harvard of the Big Ten?
  10. Doing some re-checks and I'm getting terrible flashbacks to Kyle Van Noy watching Kyler Fackrell. I adored Van Noy at BYU but it's not really materialised for him with the Lions. Not sure Fackrell has a 3-down role in the NFL. Love his hand usage and the ability to set the edge. Prototype 3-4 SLB from a skill set standpoint but I'm not sure what to do with him when they go to a 4-man front. Too small to play LDE consistently, not smooth enough in space to be a nickel LB.
  11. Rob Quinn making the case for Karl Joseph at 19 - http://buildingtheherd.com/scout-team/karl-joseph-scouting-report-nfl-draft/
  12. Follow the creator of the site on Twitter - @cover1eturner Been fun talking draft with Erik recently. Really nice guy, knows his stuff. Writes in an educational fashion, which is something I struggle to do myself.
  13. The draft is a talent acquisition business. Quarterback is the most crucial piece of talent to acquire. If you like a guy, you take him. Getting a QB (or any other position for that matter) when the talent isn't there is foolish. It only further condemns your issue.
  14. I'm making a late bid to talk up Nick Thomason from LA Tech. He's a limited athlete but he's a great taker on of blocks. He's like if Scooby Wright was better at football. Only a 1-down kind of guy but effective as a run defender. Wouldn't hate him as a UDFA, even took my eye off Vernon Butler for a few snaps.
  15. When you throw short passes a lot, your completion percentage tends to go up. If you want to box score scout, he's almost identical to EJ Manuel in those areas. I think we'd both admit EJ is not an accurate quarterback. If you think he's a good quarterback, that's fine. I really don't want to waste more of my time arguing about this guy. You're wrong but you're entitled to be.
  16. Man, Kareem Are had a lot of fanfare from FSU fans when he joined. That's just terrible from him. Nice from Daniels but that dude was asking for a slap.
  17. Biggest point about that was the mechanics are not easy to fix. You take the guy on what he was because mechanics can regress to old habits when under pressure. Kevin Hogan is a smart guy, I get that. I respect the fact that he's done as much as he has with such little talent. It's a testament to his preparation, coaches rave about how diligent he is in the film room. He just flat out can't throw a football accurately. He's a dagger through the heart in the red zone, his placement is so inconsistent that it's infuriating. If Yolo sees this, he'll get what I mean. I look at Kevin Hogan the same way I looked at Kenny Guiton. Great guy, brings leadership, incredible teammate but you wouldn't want him taking the field for your football team.
  18. A couple of stats on Clemson safety TJ Green. @PFF_Wes .@nfldraftscout 12th-highest yards per coverage snap in the class & 12 plays allowed of 20 or more yards on a mere 39 targets.
  19. Everything you mentioned was about Stanford as a team and not Kevin Hogan as a quarterback. I'd venture to say that I'm not the one that needs to watch more football.
  20. Remember the last QB that had a weird throwing motion and had the 'all he does is win' fanfare behind him? Yeah, that worked out well.
  21. The big difference between them is that Buckner is the only one that's been coached. Illinois is a damn mess, that entire team has more talent than they could show. That starting D alone has 6 NFL-capable players and they only managed 5 wins last year (Nebraska was the only team worth a damn they beat). Jihad came out as a 4th rounder but I think the building blocks are there already. He just needs a coach that'll use him properly and teach him what he needs. He's such an endearing guy, Ohio State double teamed the holy crap out of him and he came back for more snap after snap. That shows me a guy that wants to be better. I'll bang the table for him. Even as he is, I like him more than Adolphus Washington. I should say that I'm much lower on Buckner than most. Barely gets in my top 50 players.
  22. It's like I'm in the twilight zone. Kevin Hogan fails the most basic premises of being a quarterback. Want his smarts? Hire him as a coach.
  23. HOT TAKE ALERT: By the time their 2nd contracts are due, Jihad Ward will be a better player than Deforest Buckner.
