It has everything to do with scouting. Teams take the wrong shots all the time for reasons that make no damn sense. There were teams that didn't like Marcus Mariota last year because of the system he played in. The same this year with Jared Goff. They blame spread schemes for their inability to scout. All of this 'pro-style' bollocks that gets spouted seems to disregard that the majority of teams run spread concepts in the NFL and the majority of snaps are from the shotgun. There are guys that go undrafted every year that have more talent than some of the guys that go on the first 2 days of the draft. They just simply don't tick the right boxes. Sean Mannion was a 3rd round pick last year. Chris Bonner spent 2 days with KC in a rookie minicamp and then ended up in the CFL for a while. I know which one was better, it just so happened that playing poorly in the PAC-12 meant more than dominating D2. If you don't draft the talent, you end up in a QB crisis. The NFL has made it for themselves.

Blame the scouting process. To a large part, the NFL can't stop drafting guys because they are either white or prototypical size. In some cases, both. Size and skin colour is not a skill. I'm not a big Vernon Adams fan but he's had zero visits with teams. At the same time, you've got the 'Hackenberg in the 1st' machine ploughing through every barrier of logic.

I doubt the Eagles told Bradford when the deal was on the table that they planned to trade up for Wentz for the exact reason you're seeing now. They wanted him secured first before their interest in Wentz went public, just in case the trade isn't feasible. I doubt Sam signs the contract if he knows about it beforehand. He's done more than the likes of Brock Osweiler and he just got the keys to the car in Houston off the back of a few average games. If you look at him statistically, Bradford is one of the best 32 QB's in the NFL at this point. That might say more about the NFL than it does about Sam. The comments from Tom Condon are very weird. I can't imagine that he's trying to sabotage his own client, maybe he's just trying to wedge the two parties apart to the point where one (or both) reaches the point of no return. It's a dangerous game because the NFL tends to pray on those they think are weak.

You've got teams behind leaks about failed drug tests. Leaking Wonderlic scores to get players to drop because they're not intelligent. Eli Apple getting asked if he likes men (like that's actually a bad thing). Yet people choose to go nuts yesterday over the PSI of a football. The draft process is a horrible process, it's why I think every team cheats. The entire league wants to take shortcuts.
-
Yeah, I knew about the DUI. Kinda passed it off as a standalone mistake. 'Several' drug test failures is eye-catching. Not sure how long ago that was. Starting to think I'm the only person in the world that doesn't use recreational drugs.
-
I'm kinda shocked that angle hasn't picked up more traction. Legitimately the first time I've heard about the drug tests. That's a concern, I've got to admit.

Bradley is a new name for me. Came in at 6'3", 268lbs at his Pro Day. 4.98 40 (1.71 split), 23 reps, 30 1/2" vertical, 7.64 3-cone. Had 15 TFL's, 5 sacks last year. 6 pass deflections, 5 hurries, 1 FF and a catch for minus 1 yard.

I'm less on the fence about Joseph than I was a week ago, that's for sure. The nagging doubts still persist with him but I realise I've been far too focused on a fear that might not materialise instead of appreciating the player for what he is. I thought Rob put his case across very well and it's proven to be the final nail in the coffin for my doubts. Not my first choice at 19 but the fit makes a lot of sense. Me and Rob actually talked about Joseph 3 months ago and I was really low on him. With the injury and my concerns, I had a 4th-5th grade on him. Once I factored out my own neurotic drama, the pure talent came out as a 2nd rounder.

I would definitely be up for that. He's certainly a lot more athletic than his testing numbers suggest, at least in short areas. Stout enough to play NT. Picking up a 3rd in the process would be a bonus.

Speak of the devil - http://bills.buffalonews.com/2016/04/25/dl/ Really like his game. As I've said before, not the type of DL I'd ideally take at 19 but he fits the mantra of 'just draft good players'.

I'll do it if ESPN are skint. Hours spent with Jon Gruden would be payment enough. -
Bit of a long read on Matt Johnson of Bowling Green. I really love this guy, constantly told he'd never make it. http://www.pennlive.com/sports/index.ssf/2016/04/as_nfl_draft_approaches_bishop.html

Julian Edelman as backup QB. He was a QB at Kent State, you know! -

Power run game with Blount or Jordan Howard (who I reckon they'll draft). Dion Lewis as the COP guy. Lots of quick easy throws for Jimmy to the behemoths at TE. Pats were setting up for life without Brady already. I doubt they need another QB. -

Who doesn't love a good TLC reference? -
This is the game for anyone that wants to watch. Hogan actually had a very good outing, one of his better games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBG3EPwdzD0

Results from Rico's pro day are starting to emerge. 6'6" (79th percentile amongst TE's), 273 pounds (96th), 4.75 40 time (60th), 115" broad jump (54th), 4.56 SS (11th).

Antibiotics for that long is normally a sign of something pretty bad. Staph infection maybe? Would explain that abysmal showing at his Pro Day if he was struggling with illness. @RapSheet #Florida LB Antonio Morrison, who missed the combine with an infection, had 6 weeks of antibiotics. Cleared at rechecks after a full medical

Dak's a really intriguing guy. This time last year, I laughed him off as a H-Back in the NFL but he's really putting in the work to get better. Half of the problem with 'developmental' players is about if they have the drive to be better once they start getting paid. I think he's a similar kind of character to Tyrod, really tireless worker with a lot of self-belief. I'd be hard pushed to take him before the 4th but he's probably the guy I want. The NFL seems hell-bent on making Trevone Boykin a receiver so Dakota will do.

Crystal Ball: Top Prospects for 2016 NFL Draft
Blokestradamus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Averaged 15.8 yards per return on punts in his senior year. Had 7 catches as a WR too, 6 of them for touchdowns. This man was 6'4", 258 pounds at the Combine in 2000. That's incredible. -
Oh, I had him as a UDFA before I found out he's a scumbag. I know a few Bills fans were talking him up, probably just because of that bloody meme! I'm 5'10", 195 and I've got bigger calves than he does. Awful athlete, crappy football player, Greg Hardy level human being (allegedly).

As an ILB, he's honestly not a million miles away from a guy like Brian Urlacher athletically. The comparisons are few and far between at MLB/WLB, obviously. Urlacher is the name I've seen thrown about simply because he was taller than your average LB and a pretty explosive athlete for his size. He didn't look terrible playing off the LOS this year but it's still a massive projection inside. I hope the Falcons take him! -
If you ever liked Shawn Oakman, you could probably stop now (that's before you realise he's up on a rape charge) - http://www.si.com/college-football/2016/04/25/baylor-bears-shawn-oakman-2013-assault-accusation Art Briles has a lot of questions to answer now this is in the public domain.
