  1. I got bored and put Miami/FSU on to watch Kaaya. You weren't kidding, Walker is pretty damn good. Those hands are just brutal. I quite like Miami's RG Danny Isidora and Walker worked him over when they got matched up. Got a bit of bend to him for a guy that size.
  2. I'm willing to give them time to work on him. I don't know the guy, his work ethic, practice habits. The Bills are more informed on if he's coachable than I am. When a DL coach likes someone, I do wonder if it's because they have an ego moment to think they can rescue him. Instant reaction to the pick for me was laughter. After Lawson/Ragland, I knew I had to disagree with a pick at some point. I can only hope my thoughts on him were wrong.
  3. I think Jon Ledyard is better than that. There's a lot of bad tape out there from Adolphus. It's not really cherry picking as much as highlighting a continuous issue that adversely affects his chances of succeeding. I decided not to write him up because my notes on him were brutal at times, it felt like I would've been sticking the boot in on him. Jon doesn't bite his tongue when he dislikes a prospect. I found that out when we spoke about the likes of Jerald Hawkins. It's hard to write nice things about someone you dislike.
  4. Great minds think alike. Has all the tools to succeed. I think you'd already see people falling over themselves to praise him if he was 6'4", 230lbs.
  5. He really does give off that JFF vibe, superior intellect though. Johnny didn't know when to attack and when to be conservative. Only 7 QB's in (seniors only) but he's the clear frontrunner thus far. Makes some utterly jawdropping throws.
  6. The logic (as I look at it) follows what I've said for a while. The DT pick should've been a 3-Tech capable player given the amount of time spent in sub packages. Washington is that, not that I particularly like him. I don't think the value at RT really matched up at any point in the draft. After Decker went early, there were maybe 2-3 guys in the rest of the class that served a purpose with value.
  7. It's by choice. Granted, it's the choice of the entire female population but a choice nonetheless! Early days with this QB bunch but you guys need to watch Baker Mayfield. For every 'short' QB that gets the Russ comp, he's the closest one to being worthy for me.
  8. It's an accurate one for who he was at OSU. Thankfully, I think some of his issues are things that are coachable. Get his conditioning right, that solves a lot. Not every guy strikes a balance in college between preparation and studying. The good news with his athletic testing is that he tested similarly to Cedric Thornton. It took Thornton a couple of years to crack the rotation in Philly but he's been a productive run defender if nothing else. It shouldn't preclude Washington from being an effective part of the Bills DL. I see the logic behind the pick (and obviously John Blake loves the guy). I just think if you're going for a 3-Tech hoping to teach him 5-Tech, Javon Hargrave was a better prospect to go after.
  9. And Part 2 - http://insidethepylon.com/nfl/2017-nfl-draft/2016/05/12/2017-nfl-draft-quarterback-watch-list-part-2/ For me, Kiel is the standout name. I absolutely love him, just wish he could stay healthy.
  10. The Bears were all set to take Jason Spriggs and wanted the Bills to make it worth it. Ragland was worth it for Whaley, the extra 4th was worth it for the Bears. And then he ends up in Green Bay.
  11. From the top 32 picks, the guys that ended up good are: Lane Johnson, Ziggy Ansah, Sheldon Richardson, Star Lotulelei, Kyle Long, Tyler Eifert, Des Trufant, Sharrif Floyd, Xavier Rhodes, Nuk Hopkins, Travis Frederick. I remember the Frederick pick getting so much criticism that night.
  12. The class resulted in 2 initial starters (Woods, Alonso), should've been a 3rd starter (Hopkins) and a couple of depth guys (Duke/Gragg). Kiko paved the way for Shady. Robey from the UDFA class too (as well as legendary QB Jeff Tuel). Obviously, EJ was a huge error but they went the right way with some picks.
  13. Watched EWU for the first time at the start of 2014 vs Sam Houston (back when Vern Adams was an afterthought). Kupp made a one handed grab that was so good, I shouted "Where have you been all my life?". I've been hooked ever since. He's a human highlight reel. I have Kaaya scheduled for the 24th. Focusing on seniors first. Then it's OL and pass rushers. Been a fan of Kaaya since his freshman year, he's the guy I most want to dig into. Conscious decision not to bother with DB's this year. Impossible to get a definitive read without All-22.
  14. Chuck Zodda of Inside The Pylon ranks the UDFA kickers - http://insidethepylon.com/nfl/2016-nfl-draft/2016/05/10/ranking-2016-rookie-kicker-class-udfa-signings/ Essentially, get used to Dan Carpenter.
  15. Chris Shanafelt's top 2017-eligible small school prospects - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1fcor3F9ITQgdur0hn8j28rFSxbeUqHflrEYt3MDFo7s/edit?pref=2&pli=1#gid=0 Names that jump off the page - Cooper Kupp (EWU WR) and Connor Harris (Lindenwood LB). Harris has racked up 336 tackles in his past 2 seasons (22 games). Harris has also played a bit of RB, returned a few punts (at 243 pounds) and been the backup punter.
  16. Obviously, every play has it's own footwork. Just talking about the taught fundamentals.
  17. That's pretty weird because I've spoken to a couple of former college QB's (D3 guys) and they've both said they were taught to use their left foot back as a cheat step to gain ground quicker in their drops. Mark Schofield, one of the guys I spoke to about it, wrote about it - http://insidethepylon.com/football-101/2015/06/17/the-art-magic-and-science-of-quarterbacking-stance-and-cheat-step/
  18. The thing I'm intrigued by is 'How different would Jim Kelly's stats be in this era?' Because if you're looking at a 60.1% completion rate, 7.4 YPA, 5.0% TD rate, 3.7% INT rate, 84.4 QB rating type of guy, he's not far from being Jay Cutler. Nothing meant as an insult, I've only watched Jim in Super Bowl re-runs and highlight reels.
  19. Oh, the fun I've had explaining why Gilmore is better than some think. He's a very good corner, he's a prototype fit for Rex, he's going to be just fine. Just needs to stop with the torpedo tackling.
  20. Part 1 of Mark Schofield's watch list for 2017 quarterbacks - http://insidethepylon.com/nfl/2017-nfl-draft/2016/05/09/2017-nfl-draft-quarterback-watch-list-part-1/ I'm taking a quick look at about a dozen QB's over the next few weeks, I'll add my thoughts at some point.
  21. Shares them with Eli. Eli fails a drug test. Goodell wins.
  22. Shocking turn of events at mini camp today. https://twitter.com/SeanCorleone/status/728649055740563458
  23. I can confirm that he's still bald, has a nice beard and is wearing jeans.
  24. Someone dug up an old tweet from him slagging off Philly. Deactivated his account, was forced to apologise.
