2016-2017 BOLD Predictions! (Offense)
Blokestradamus replied to ROONDOGG55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just spending some time looking into stats from Roman's time in SF and comparing to last season. Found something kinda interesting at QB if you take Tyrod's averages over 16 games. 2012 QB stats (SF) - 436 pass attempts @ 8.1 YPA, 23 TD, 8 INT, 94 rush attempts. Tyrod last year (extrapolated) - 435 pass attempts @ 8.0 YPA, 23 TD, 7 INT, 118 rush attempts. That SF team was 11-4-1 and 3 points from the Super Bowl. If Tyrod can avoid the sophomore slump and Rex restores the D, future is looking bright. -
What are the realistic chances of securing Federal spending to get this done? I'd imagine that the net spend on policing is already pretty high per annum. It seems like it would be a big step forward for the police force and it might save millions in lawsuits and investigations in the long run.

Prayers for the City of Dallas

I might be in the minority (sometimes feels that way) but all I'm interested in is the truth. You can only find a solution when you know what the problem is. It's just desperately sad watching the events unfold. I've not been transfixed by a news story like Thursday night since the Boston bomb. Maybe I'm trying to logically approach something which has no logic, trying to find an answer because "He felt like it" scares me too much as a thought. -
I would've thought that there would be little objection by clean officers to wearing them. Police forces could use the footage of officers helping people on a daily basis as good PR. As it currently stands, the only footage I see of cops is shot by the people stopped (normally after the reason they're being pulled over). Obviously finances are the biggest issue as to why there aren't mandatory yet.

I saw his sister's Facebook post. I think people are trying to demonise it a little too much and are reading it with the slant they want to. It's no worse than a lot of social media posting I've seen on the subject. Hell, I've seen people flat out celebrating the death of police officers. Some of which was directed to the Dallas PD Twitter account. Something either snapped in him or went undiagnosed for years. He went from willing to serve his country to shooting cops dead within 7 years. That's a huge philosophical swing. I think the people investigating owe it to the population to found out why. Everything has a root cause and if people don't know why it happens, it's doomed to happen again. -

I think there's a need for so much more to be done regarding mental illness in both the UK and the US, especially with post-service care of military personnel. Even the most resilient servicemen and women aren't indestructible. Even as a regular citizen, I've been through the system with mental health and found the resources severely lacking. I've heard from some in the US that it's even worse over there. I've not seen much about the shooter outside of the reasons for his discharge. Has there been confirmation of a diagnosis/treatment for PTSD? -
Personally, I don't choose sides. It's business and the process has to work for both sides. I don't blame any player for trying to get their worth. It's a short and brutal career. I think the holdout tactic is more agent-influenced because it's competitive drive that got the players into the NFL in the first place. I don't see that many (if any) want to miss time. I think sometimes an agent will oversell leverage to a player because there's been a few cases over the years where teams are just not going to budge. It's hard to have any sympathy for teams if players do hold out. The second a player gets too old or costs too much, they'll discard them without a second thought.

It's amazing how most human beings react to tragedy. It's also a little heartbreaking that it takes tragedy for scenes like that to happen. We all have the capacity to do good. We just don't seem to do it enough or without severe provocation. -
Tyrod made the right read, can you?
Blokestradamus replied to Cover 1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I read zone pretty easily. Single high FS screams C1/3. If this is me playing Madden, I probably hold the ball a touch longer and aim for Woods. Nice to see application of 'take what the D gives you' by Tyrod. -
Video Breakdown: Greg Roman's Run Concepts
Blokestradamus replied to Cover 1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't tell you how much I enjoy watching well executed run plays. Beautifully explained as well, Erik. The diversity of the run game must make it impossible to completely plan for playing against the Bills. I can't wait for the power runs. Many watch for splash plays and deep bombs but pulling linemen are the most entertaining thing on a football field. -
Former Bills OL Kyle Calloway passes away
Blokestradamus replied to Blokestradamus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes you are. But that guy and his photoshops are designed to bring smiles. Maybe nothing needs that more than a discussion about mortality. -
In short; yes. Long answer is that the fans of Icelandic club FC Stjarnan (who's players have some of the best coordinated celebrations ever) learned the clap while playing SPL team Motherwell a couple of years ago. They adopted it and, because it's a small country, the national team fans adopted it in due course. Similar to Man City "doing the Poznan" which they learned from Lech Poznan fans at the Etihad a few years back.

Only Pat McAfee and Justin Tucker had touchback percentages above 85 last season. Buffalo ranked 23rd with 50% of touchbacks (including all 4 of Dan Carpenter's being returned). Jordan Gay's stats alone would put him 15th in the league in TB %. Since the rule change, Gay has a TB rate of 56.9%. Dan Carpenter has a 46.8% TB rate (including 2 years in Miami, inherently better climate). That's 10.1% more kickoffs not coming back. Roughly about 7-8 per season on average. Just as a Bill, Dan's % drops to 39 (which obviously drives that discrepancy up further). One thing to consider with the new regulations is hang time. Dan's leg can barely get into the end zone half the time and, because he lacks the kickoff leg, his kicks have a flatter trajectory when he forces the distance. Therefore less time for the coverage unit to cover ground. Gay is a much more nuanced kickoff man. He has better natural leg strength. He can kick high and long. He's much more likely to eliminate risk by kicking a touch back and he's more likely able to give the coverage unit time to cover. He's shown the ability to kick directionally with hang time too. As long as Dan Carpenter nails his FG/XP duties, Jordan Gay is a net asset. He's better for ST and he saves Carpenter's leg. If Dan has a repeat of 2015, it's harder to justify keeping him. He's rather good at his specialist role but pointless if he's helping to spell a liability.

Trying not to jump to any conclusions. In a case as delicate as this, due process is essential. Of course that hasn't stopped the media running headlines about civil war on the streets of America. -

My initial reaction was that it was entirely too convenient that the only leak was a picture of a rifle-carrying black man. His brother was the protest organiser. -

Nothing concrete. The picture circulated by the Dallas PD is of an innocent man (stupidly carrying a rifle to the protest). -

The tweet announcing the 5th fatality has a number of responses enjoying that fact. Others praying for a 6th. I hope I'm wrong about religion because the idea of hell for those disgusting morons would make me feel a whole lot better. -

Following this on social media, it's brought to light the very best and the very worst of humanity. I've seen images today that will never leave my mind (pictures of a civilian shot protecting her children, a police officer shot in the back by a coward), If you see that video, please don't watch it. As Commonsense said, this isn't some loony. This is coordinated. It's terrorism with military precision. It's horrifying. My thoughts with the families of the officers killed, with those still fighting for their lives. It takes an extraordinary human being to run towards gunfire and to put other lives above your own. -

2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
Blokestradamus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
His buddy at LG, Dorian Johnson, is even better. Better LG prospect than Joshua Garnett (the 2016 28th overall pick). Not as big as Garnett but more agile with the same kind of power/nasty. Bisnowaty kinda reminded me of Jack Conklin. Logic tells me that the NFL will want to move him to RT but guard is probably his most natural fit. I think he'll perform better in a phone booth than in space. He's also had a back injury in 2013 and missed time in 14 and 15 with ankle issues. Those are red flag areas with OL for me. Edit - While on the subject of Pitt, RB Qadree Ollison (Niagara Falls native & Canisius HS grad) is gonna be a good one. -
Andre Johnson wants a shot
Blokestradamus replied to KollegeStudnet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with this. When Andre Johnson is begging for a job, you know he's done. Having recently gone back over the Week 1 Bills/Colts game, he did have a couple of really beautiful run blocks. Maybe he might be useful on that front but I'd rather give the likes of Lewis/Listenbee a shot. -
Think of it as natural selection.

I think it was a success in an odd way. I think it showed people on the outside looking in (myself included) just how much the people in WNY cared about their team. How much the thought of losing the team could unite them in a common cause. I think it also showed the NFL that a Toronto franchise might struggle to be viable.
