  1. I'd love to see the Bills finish the season with a team record for the number of wins.

Even with a 14-win season, no doubt there will be chants from the ignorant masses of "fire McDermott" if they fail to make the super bowl.  I'd really like to see them finish the regular season on a high note, heading into the playoffs with a four game win streak and 11-1 record over the past 12 games. I want to see lots of W's when I look back at the 2024 schedule results.  Also, it would be nice to sweep the division.

I am not sure if anyone cares or is interested in knowing... but I will write it and if no one cares we can delete it... but it is such a fun niche in Bills tradition...

It was 2 days before Christmas in 1990, the Bills were playing a huge home game against the hated Dolphins... So, all traditions and superstitions were on full display... no one willing to break any one of them. Kenny J (Pinto Ron) had a tradition of eating a Hamburger cooked on a shovel with ketchup before every game... only... this game... Kenny forgot his ketchup... he came to me in a panic... "JP51!! you have to find me some ketchup!!! " so I went to the tailgate next to us and told them and they went into the Mobile home and produced a 12 oz bottle of Heinz ketchup...  I came back to Ken with the ketchup and said... how about I get on the hood of the Pinto and squirt the ketchup on your burger that way... Kenny said Brilliant... so, to no fan fare or anything I got on the hood of the Pinto and squirted ketchup towards the burger... well. 20mph winds had different ideas as none of the ketchup was going on the burger... but all over Kenny .... and the cheering started...  I literally had to get down off of the Pinto and shake the last vestiges of Ketchup on the burger to keep with tradition...  We won...

Next week Kenny comes with a 36 oz bottle of ketchup and says we have to do this again... so up I went... and used the "Blind and Blast" technique... nail his glasses so he couldnt see... then blast him with Ketchup.... and a tradition was born... as time went on we moved to a 64oz bottle, and crowds of people chanting Ketchup Ketchup Ketchup... news crews coming to film etc... then one day (me being about 235lbs at the time the roof of the 80 Pinto dented.... worried about the sustainability of the roof and wanting to continue the tradition... in the offseason Kenny tore the underside of the Top out and reenforced it with steal... (true Story lol)

as time went on, Mustard and relish and other condiments were brought in and you have the ceremony in its present form...

And that my friends is the rest of the story....

    it’s disgusting.

Maybe some variation between the Broncos and Chargers, but right now the path to the Super Bowl seems established.  Do you think the Bills can do it?

Not unless they either control the clock and score on most drives, and/or figure out how to stop the opponent’s run game.
If teams like the Ravens continue to plow through the Bills’ porous D-line, it will be an uphill fight.
I hate to admit it, but until the Bills look something like top 5 on the defensive side of the ball, their Super Bowl odds are slim.
They’ve had occasionally good defensive showings. The question is, can they field a consistently good D for four consecutive games starting in the wild card round?  Doubtful.

  4. What hasn't been discussed enough is the other part of the trade that moved the Bills up the draft board to get an additional 3rd round pick that was used to pick DT Dwayne Carter. He's shown decent potential in is limited time as a rookie. Should he bloom into an impact DT (a position in which the Bills very much need help) and Coleman matures into a consistent threat in the O, the trade will be another feather in the cap for Beane.

I agree.  The Bills home identity IMO is Royal blue. The only way I would like a Bills red jersey is if there were to somehow include some zubaz fabric .  . Or a full red color rush if they must

Zubaz apparel was a trend from what, the early 90’s?  Bills’ Super Bowl era I believe.
Is the Buffalo fan base the only one that never dumped the fashion and for whom the sweats and shirts have been sold continuously for over 30 years?
    Very Buffalo.

  6. He has zero awareness of how a play is developing and can’t keep his hands off wideouts he’s assigned to.
I’ve stated my theory here previously…I don’t think he has the mental capacity to play within the structure of a sophisticated NFL defense where all 11 need to communicate and be on the same page for it to work.
Is he just a dummy with good athletic skills? Maybe. I’m not sure how else anyone can explain his lack of production after nearly 3 full seasons.

Whatever the issue is, it’s clear he’s only getting a game day jersey by default due to injuries of players ahead of him.
I don’t expect him to be a Bill in 2025.

The kid on you tube  is shocked that the fan was able to bring a gun into stadium, that is funny. In 1972 there was no security at the entrance gate it was a different era. The ticket takers were there to prevent fans without tickets from entering. The biggest controversy when Rich stadium opened was that fans were no longer allowed to bring in their own booze. Can you imagine Ralph Wilson’s greed at making fans buy overpriced beer in the stadium. Handguns required a permit in NY in 1972 just like today, and carrying a pistol without one was a felony. A felony arrest would not result in a $25 fine even accounting for inflation. This guy was most likely drunk, relatively harmless, but wired politically thus the small fine.  And yes I was at that game

Me and my friends bought a beer ball in for the 1980 opener against the Dolphins. No problem. Beer balls were basically a mini-keg.

  8. With the change to a 4:30 start, most of the nation is getting Bills-Pats on local TV.

But for some reason, here in Atlanta the Miami-49er's game is being shown.

Maybe the local affiliate figures they've shown enough of the Bills.  ?

But they're going to show 2 teams that have been virtually eliminated from the post season?  Maybe they expect it will be a more competitive and entertaining game for the casual fan.

  9. When Bass lined up for the short FG, I immediately said to my wife, 'he's going to miss. Look how his body facing'.  Did anyone else have a similar take on it or have that sense, even before the kick?  There was just something awkward about the way he approached the ball from that hash.  I'm convinced he has a mechanical issue that can be corrected. Maybe some time with Jordan Palmer's high tech analytics stuff would help?

It becomes a cap management thing, though. The retreads and free agent backups tend to cost a bit against the cap, while still not really being likely to string together a bunch of wins. So why not build up the pipeline with drafted talent (within reason) who might be just as successful or even more so, while still providing value due to low AAV and even potential to be traded or compensatory pick value if signed away.

Because that draft pick spent on a day 2 or 3 QB could have been another Benford, Milano, Shakir, Taron Johnson, or other player that has a better chance to contribute.

Drafting a developmental QB should be seen as smart cap management tbh. Grab a guy on day 2 or 3 who hopefully fills your backup QB position at a crazy savings for 2-4 years. That's just smart roster building, when executed. Trubisky ain't exactly doing Allen's homework for him and piping in the answers on game days. Come on. Might even bring out yet another level of leadership in JA17 to have another talented young QB on the roster.

If Josh misses time to injury while Mr.Developmental 3rd rounder is still learning his way to the stadium, the rookie would be worthless to a team that is built for annual playoff appearances and while paying other producers on 2nd contracts.
It would effectively be a lost season if they were dependent on him.
If they want to bring in a prospect with potential to fill out the practice squad, fine. But, if the team stands any chance of progressing in Josh’s absence, they’d need an experienced signal caller who can identify sophisticated defenses and has leadership experience. Each year there are numerous retreads. Some never pan out and some just need a change of scenery (Darnold, Wilson, Winston, Baker, etc)

  12. No.
Draft one when the time approaches to replace the starter.
Why draft (presumably) a day two or day three project QB who will have little opportunity to improve in real game action? He’d ride the pine for 4 years and because of inexperience would contribute next to nothing on the clipboard end.

As long as Josh is in his prime with several more years of elite-level play, I believe the best course is to find veteran FA QBs who have game experience and fit the Bills’ culture. Someone like an Andy Dalton for example.
