One of my favorite movies. One of the very last things you can hear is Eric Idle saying “I told him …Bernie I said they’ll never make their money back”.  It’s a poke at Bernard Delfont, who was supposed to finance the film, but thinking it was too controversial, pulled out at the last minute.  Fortunately, George Harrison liked the script and put up his house as collateral to get it done.
    Love the pythons.

Wow…..I haven’t been to a Monday Night game since Ahmad Rashad beat the Raiders. That was one long line getting out of the parking lot. Loved every minute of it listening to the post game show. Amazingly vivid memory. I planned on the opener, I didn’t plan on a Monday night!

Yes, I was at that one too. And the KC game, first ever Monday nighter at Rich the year before in their shiny new stadium.

That Raiders game has come up a few times recently. Strange it's a somewhat forgotten game, though it was one of the most exciting endings in memory.  I supposed it's been eclipsed by the Comeback game, superbowl games, and some others. And since it was nearly 50 years ago, it pre-dates the existence of a large portion of the fan base.

Very similar to the Bills' last game in KC - lots of lead changes in the 4th quarter.  Only the 1974 game had a better ending.

I don't think the coach whose players are adolescents with disabilities would accept a match up against a professional football team.  I wouldn't watch it either because it would be a bad look for the NFL when the Texans lose.  I won't hear the end of it from my non-football fans.

And none of the teams' classmates will watch it either!

  4. Oliver and Phillips, or whoever is playing DT.  Actually, any of the front 7 (including Johnson).

The Bills need to be able to stop the run. The Patriots and Jets are gearing up to have stout run games, probably realizing that is the Bills biggest weakness. The Colts and Titans made the Bills look like a DIV III team with their runs. One loss against an inferior opponent can mean the difference between being at home or away, or even making the playoffs.

But if I have to narrow it down, it's mostly the guys in the middle of the D-line.

We exhausted everything KC had, and they swooped in and took advantage. Everyone knows this, that’s why they have no respect.

Exactly.  In the words of Hank Bullough, the Bills 'took the sails out of their wind'.  KC had to scratch and claw to win at home against the Bills. When the Bengals came in, they were playing a team still recovering from the previous battle.

I have little doubt that if the Bills had won and hosted the Bengals in the AFCC, they would have beat the snot out of them.

In some ways, I'm almost glad they didn't get to the superbowl. Not sure they were quite ready. If they'd lost it would have stirred up the whole 'Bills lose superbowls' talk and the current team (most of whom weren't even born since last appearance) would be saddled with that stigma.

I'm not worried about that now.  With the FA signings and draft class, there are few (if any) weakness on this team.

If they stay healthy, they should be able to beat any other team soundly.  They just need to take care of business and not lose to vastly inferior teams like the Jags and Stillers. Those are the kind of losses that will determine being at home or on the road come playoff time.

Yeah it’s really starting to hit home now with less than 10 minutes left.

Damn Bills keep trading back too 😂

this was so cool. Loved seeing all the player reactions.

Poyer is under contract. However, I think Hamlin is going to be a stud.

Don't know if Hamlin will be 'a stud', but he's been praised by people within the organization. There are a few candidates who are already backup safeties or can be converted from CB, including some rookies.

As good as Poyer has been in tandem with Hyde, he's getting older and more expensive. He's under contract now, so he's got zero leverage unless he chooses not to play and not get paid.  The Patriots have been historically smart about not getting too emotionally attached to veterans and  knowing when to cut them loose for the good of the team.

The Bills have hit on lower round prospects and undrafted FAs because they often identify players with the raw skills sets who are smart and coachable. Neither Hyde or Poyer were all-pro candidates before coming to Buffalo.

This is likely Poyer's final year with the Bills and I'm not too worried about his eventual replacement.

Beane says that Ford has been working hard in the off season and knows this is his final contract year.  So, we'll see.

And going into last season he exclaimed that he had a whole new attitude and his head was now on straight (or something to that affect).  He was almost worse than the year before.
    Bust.

Seems like they moved on from the Williams idea with the signing of Quessenberry (sp?) but I’d like to see him brought back. Same with Jerry Hughes, but I’m sure neither would take a vet minimum deal.

Can't figure out why anyone thinks Quessenberry is an upgrade from the guards we've had the past couple of years. Looking at his history, looks like a journeyman who was average at best.  I'm going to guess Beane finds some better IOL after 4pm.

Im only giving credence to this because it has both the season opener Thursday LA game and Thanksgiving Lions game as previously "leaked" by another poster.

Here is the full potentially "leaked" schedule:

Tremaine Edmunds isn't going to be traded. Regardless of how you feel of his play (which isn't as bad as some of you posters make it seem), he's the signal caller of the #1 Defense in the league for years running. We're not going to disrupt the flow of this Defense in this important season by hoping that a 2nd Round pick is going to not only cause us to miss a step in his Rookie season, but make it perform better.

They vastly improved the Defensive Line in front of him. They brought in the DT he played with in College. This wasn't just a coincidence. They want to see if it'll pay dividends for Tremaine. He's going to get this season.

It's time to let it go.

I think his role as 'signal caller' is overrated.

It's more about his placement in the middle of the defense than his acumen as a defensive genius.  He's in the best position on that side of the ball to relay signals to the rest of the defense.  I suspect he's mostly the proxy mouthpiece from the D Coordinator who radios signals to him.

If Edmunds was that knowledgeable about defensive schemes, I doubt he'd be getting burned and out of position as he often is.

I’m all for providing weapons to the offense - even at RB. Though using our 1st overall on one isn’t my cup of tea.

    Go Bills!!

If the Bills had a lot of holes to fill I'd agree about using a 1st round pick on a RB. The consensus has been to pick WR or CB. We have 3 pretty good receivers and a couple in the wings  (Hodgins and Stevenson) that may still pan out.  You could make an argument for CB, but we expect to get White back sooner than later. As I stated in a previous thread, the Bills went 5-3 after White went down (not even counting the win in that Saints game). 1 of those losses being the wind bowl at home against Pats, and the other 2 OT losses against the previous 2 superbowl winners, TB and KC.  I don't see CB being as dire a need as some believe.

Although some great RBs have lasted past round 1 in recent years, you run the risk of settling for another Moss or Singletary. Decent enough backs, but no opposing team is working overtime to figure out how to stop them.  I'd love to see a RB in the backfield that is a weapon to be feared.

Whatever the Bills do, I have complete trust in Beane and the personnel dept. so I'll be happy with any path they choose.

It’s a different era. Though a good thought. I’m not sure that “trio” is required today. That 3rd piece is more likely to be another high end WR or stud TE.

(and I’d replace swan with stallworth)

The old 'triplets' thing might be outdated, but on the other hand, maybe it's a counter to all the defenses like the Bills' who are now focusing on pass coverage. If we had a back that could catch and power through the front line, it might save some wear and tear on our QB - keeping him from running so often on those short yardage situations.

At the very least, it could provide more RPO schemes, opening up the mid to deep part of the field for the TEs and WRs.

I want to give opposing defenses match up nightmares.   With a QB like JA and the other skill positions, including a threatening RB, it could keep opponents up at night trying to figure out how to stop the Bills.

  15. Not sure if it's been brought up here, but other than being a talented back who can run and catch, is Hall a culture fit for the Buffalo Bills?

I get the impression from the way the Bills have operated under Beane that building team chemistry and having the right personalities is just as important as raw talent.

I don't know anything about Hall.  Have never seen/heard an interview or anything to give me a sense of who he is as a person.

When I think historically notorious offenses I think of 'triplets'.

    Smith, Aikman, Irvin.

    Thomas, Kelly, Reed.

    Rice, Montana, Craig.

    Bradshaw, Harris, Swan

    etc.

I see Singletary as more of what Kenny Davis was to Thurman.  A serviceable and dependable backup who can spell the feature guy.

Could Hall become the third triplet to round out the offense?

  16.

    What happened to Tremaine?

The "he's young and he's only in his 1st, 2nd, 3rd year"  excuse expired. His perceived potential  has never been realized.

Why hasn't he really held up to his first round grade?

The grade was given for an athletic LB with a high ceiling.  Pure pre-draft speculation.

    Can he rebound?

No.  He doesn't have the temperament. He's robotic - not instinctive.  He's soft.

    What are the chances?

I'd guess zero. I don't think he has the seek and destroy mentality it takes to be a top tier LB.

Will money motivate him as he finishes up his current contract?

If money is what he needs for motivation, he's on the wrong team.

Any insights on what Beane and the Bills brass think about Tremaine and his future in Buffalo?

Nope. They haven't consulted with me so far.  My bet is Edmunds is traded soon, or  if no reasonable offers come their way, he's allowed to play out his contract as they continue to offer him up before the trade deadline.

Could Tremaine be used as trade bait on draft day? Or before?

Of course. Anything is possible. My take all along has been the question of is he more or is he less valuable than he was on draft day 2018 at pick # 17?  At barely 24 years old come September, and with 4 years NFL of experience, he should be at least AS valuable.  But he's not. Maybe a 2nd rounder by the right buyer. Probably 3rd round value.  If some team offers a first, I'd hope they accept that offer as fast as they can before that trade partner reviews all the tape.

This draft is fairly deep in LB talent, even on day 3.  Should we move on or put our faith in Tremaine?

Open competition (if he's still on the roster).  May the best man win.

No LB is worth the 7 in this drafrt. There is no 2021 crush i had on Parsons this year.

Only way i see it is if we are moving up for the top DB who could go as high as 3 i suppose.

Regardless i think this rumor is poo.

Unless our clever GM gets the NYG # 7, then turns around and trades that # 7 for a couple mid to late # 1's.  Edmunds gone and replaced with lower cap hit LB who's not afraid to hit (2nd first round pick), and still have additional # 1 to get first rounder that's just enough picks higher than # 25 to get the CB they covet.   Brilliant.  😏

    Rumors are just that- rumors.

  18. About  month later than it used to be.   Until last year, I believe, the schedule came out just ahead of the draft.  But, everything is 'an event' now with the NFL.

Not too many years ago it was just a news item publication in the daily paper without much fanfare. Now, ESPN and NFL Network milk several hours of air time out of the 'schedule release'.

I'll admit, I'm susceptible to the method through which the NFL feeds our football hunger piecemeal throughout the off-season.
