Time. I know you did not state otherwise, but I speculate others would overlook the fact there was absolutely balkanization in the US when the Irish, Italians, Polish, etc.....were coming to America. And with time, assimilation (to an extent) occurred. But there absolutely was balkanization then....it was not a smooth immigration process as the US became "diverse" [at the time what would be diverse]....and it never was a true assimilation, per se. Difference in religions (if one observes a religion) were in existence then and still evident today....among other elements. Multiculturalism is not the issue (do you really have an issue with the Polynesian culture of Hawaii, for example?) it is separists and supremists (I inititally thought isolationists, but technically that would not be correct) that are the issue that are causing these false fears of others who are different. This is why I implied that ignorance is truly the activator of violence. That and fear. I appreciate your reply.

Thank you for posting that; it is good to see other countries also have idiots as politicians. This Anning fellow seems to be dumb and logically challenged. Let's see, a nationalist kills innocent people and somehow it gets turned into "....but, they really are at fault". My goodness he is such a snowflake. Yes, liberals have to be at fault for causing a right-wing nationalist nut job to kill. Irony. At. It's. Best. Along with ignorance.....we in America can certainly relate. Again, thanks for highlighting this! I knew you were provoking the readership here! There was just no way anyone could type what you do with a straight face. Also, just to help you a bit, an undergraduate degree does not make you a scholar....but you knew that. Well done, you got me there.

What is the most boring NFL city?
IndyMark replied to BUFFALOKIE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any city can be a blast if you travel with a fun group. Indy, regarding the game day experience is flat out last in the league. No question. However, the city itself can be fun; over a week-end. Mind you, it is fun due in large part to the number of visitors in the very friendly and accommodating downtown. Locals tend to find Broad Ripple more fun, yet, that stops being downtown Indy. The grass is always greener; I suppose. -
Should Sarah Huckabee-Sanders be allowed to eat in peace?
IndyMark replied to #34fan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Wow. I am going with "sad", here. I will grant you a solid mark on effort, but you are really lacking on execution; on several levels. I am sure you have a point in there somewhere, but instead of trying to address your reply, I will let it speak for itself. It does so, very well. -
Should Sarah Huckabee-Sanders be allowed to eat in peace?
IndyMark replied to #34fan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Not sure where to start, but let me help you help yourself here.....please cite where I stated these are the best two? Did not think so. Yes, clearly both the brick and Nugent are as bad as Maxine's.....are you really serious with that? Please think a bit more on what you are typing, do not feel it, think it. I am no lefty, I introduced a balanced alternative....not sure what your point was there, nor do you most likely. Yes of course, only those on the Left can incite violence, so sorry I overlooked that.......I will avoid being flippant, though accurate, and ask you what you mean by "Exremism" as I am confident you meant "Extremism".....and you even "edited" this post. You appear to be the working definition of what Tom mentions as a "hypocritice". I am not sure if I want you to reply or not; this could be fun or sad. Thanks for reading! -
Should Sarah Huckabee-Sanders be allowed to eat in peace?
IndyMark replied to #34fan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I believe this is what you folks on the left call "whataboutism." And did you find the story where Mitch McConnell told Republicans to stalk and threaten Jay Carney and Katherine Sebelius? I'm not saying you're wrong, mind you. You're entirely correct. And a thorough hypocritice. __ Thanks for reading and replying. However, I am not confident I stated those on the Left were not at fault. If I did, you would be 100% correct. Clearly, I was providing balance that was not quite offered in this form. Of course both sides are at fault. This is what needs to be accepted. Lastly, and less significant, I am not sure I would consider myself as being on the Left. However, you can feel otherwise. -

I am not sure where I fall, exactly, on this iteration of the debate above. Yet I find it amusing the platitudes offered by some here who identify as being on the Right regarding those on the Left cornering the market on aggressive attitudes and incivility. Me thinks these particular individuals need a history lesson. If you believe for a moment that "all this started" once Trump got elected and the pathetic behavior is exclusive to those on the Left, or in fact it has only gotten worse since Trump was elected, you really should try to reflect a bit more intentionally, every day. That or you should have to repeat out loud, slowly, what you are typing and are about to post so you may get a sense of how goofy you are about to appear. Please see the below. You are welcome. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/mar/25/violence-congress-health-reform-republican-obama https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/04/quote-of-the-day-ted-nugent-threatens-barack-obama/256025/ I am only including two examples as I think it would be too overwhelming for those on the far Right, who are speaking very unequivocally, to work through the entire list; again, based on the posts from them in this thread. -
Tyrod Taylor turning heads in Cleveland.
IndyMark replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Regarding your first statement above, can you try that again in simple English? Regarding your second, you must have hated Jim Kelly, he averaged over 1 interception a game throughout his career. Only one season was his INT total less than 10; specifically, Kelly compared to Taylor on INT% was 3.7% vs. 1.4%, respectively. Interceptions are part of the game when your quarterback, you know, throws downfield. -
I predict the BILLS 5th round pick will be.........
IndyMark replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Matt Pryor TCU OL.....honestly though.....I have not followed last round closely; he could already be drafted. -
Gil Brant on Sirius yesterday - awful
IndyMark replied to thunderingsquid's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Just as an FYI, you come across as a snowflake by rushing to Gil's defense so strongly. Just sayin'. If you do not like the accusation, ignore. It goes both ways. -
Oh my lord. Realizing that the second set of 4 quarterbacks (rated 5-8) in this draft has as much chance as the first four in being "generational" this is a curious take. Let me be clear, I am super glad I am not making the Bills draft day decisions, however, I am as strongly thankful that you are not either. History repeating itself (Ditka & Vikings [Herschel]) via draft pick unloading would set the Bills back another decade. 6 top 100 prospects >>>> better than 1 QB, in my opinion. Yet, I could be wrong.

For all who want to trade up so bad
IndyMark replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed; unfortunately the 2018 draft class is bankrupt of a stud. Or if he is in fact there, it is as likely as Rudolph and Jackson as it it Darnold or Rosen. -
Not sure we can say it will be the best class for a few years to come; that is speculative at best and some would argue with that. Admittedly, I would not be the best person to do so. Interestingly enough, forfeiting our premier picks this year, and next along with "other picks or players" (as some note) also sure as hell will not give us a championship nor get us back to the playoffs. I feel acquiring 6 picks in the top 100 is not playing it safe. Establishing draft 'capital' does not mean we have to get into the top 3 picks. Things are not as black and white as any of us believe......it is fun speculating, but dumping this years draft and part of next years, from my perspective, does not help the Bills at all.

First, I hope with all hope Beane does not factor in "fan reaction" to his moves. That would be silly. Second, this is his livelihood.....I am also fairly certain he does not view this as a game with fans. The bold section above is illustrative of flawed logic by the group of fans who want to forfeit this years draft, parts of next years draft, and even "Shady" (as some have noted) to go "all in" on a prospect in a pool of QB prospects that is generally regarded as over rated. There are absolutely no "cannot misses" in this draft. Sure, 1 or 2 of them, over the long-term may prove to be "generational" but those could end up being Rudolph or Jackson. There are noted flaws, some significant, to the top tier quarterbacks, Beane's moves to acquire draft picks did not look like a positioning to gain capital to move up and draft one. This is one perspective of many. To me it looked like we finally have a GM who understands using the draft to improve talent, in bulk. I could be wrong. Who knows, but Beane's moves suggested really nothing beyond trying to improve the team. None of us knows. We never know. This is the fun part of the off season!

I say we will not draft a QB round 1
IndyMark replied to mead107's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cordy Glenn is not the player profile McD or Beane value, ala Sammy Watkins, in my opinion. In fact, if you describe them without alluding to their literal skill set, they are identical "......lots of potential, gifted, ideal body type, when healthy are productive, yet nagging injuries and attitude / commitment toward enduring a full season are questionable...." When the Glenn trade was made, my first reaction was "genius", the second was we now have 6 of the top 100 picks....this will infuse talent immediately, both for short-term success and then with a nod to long-term sustained competitiveness. For me, that simple. Again, I could be wrong. Who knows? -
Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round
IndyMark replied to Hurricane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This would be somewhat acceptable if either of the two conditions existed (a) An Andrew Luck-type prospect was in this draft or (b) The Bills were only a QB away from taking the next step; somewhat. Unfortunately, neither of the conditions exist for the Bills at this moment in time. Forfeiting the premier picks of this and next years draft plus throw in "Shady" as another poster above cited, seems like the play of a desperate, panicked, and dim personnel. In effect, we would have a developing QB with no cast around him. Does that typically workout? -
Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round
IndyMark replied to Hurricane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Saints fans, circa the Ditka era (debacle) would like a word with you. Or, if you recall the Dallas / Minnesota Herschel Walker trade, I feel the Vikings fans would think otherwise. I get the passion of forfeiting most of your draft capital if (a) there was an Andrew Luck available or (b) QB is the only position of need on the team. However, neither are true here in 2018 with the Buffalo Bills. So, yes, there is a thing of over payment. Absolutely. -
If this is the case, the Jets are really dim. Does Bean strike anyone here as the personality type to "panic"? And panic over what? The Jets decision making? Please, the Jets have made some really goofy decisions over the years, and all of the sudden now they are shrewd? And can anticipate Bean's temperment? That is comical. I cannot imagine a scenario where Beane accumulates draft picks to casually forfeit them to draft a notoriously suspect QB; and by that I mean any 5 of the "hot" prospects. The Bills have too many holes are positions with no depth. Why risk that for one player....and an iffy one at that? This stated, the Jets panicked and over paid. No question.

Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round
IndyMark replied to Hurricane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This; it is as likely that Beane will go BPA at #12 as he would try to enter the top 5 for one of the highly suspect QB (none of which are "can't miss'). Again, McD has stated, unequivocally, that ".....we are not as close as people think....". The Bills are uniquely positioned to pick 6 of the top 100 NFL prospects. I cannot imagine a scenario where that is less attractive than forfeiting 5 of the top 100 prospects for an "iffy" QB. There is no Andrew Luck in this draft. Let me be clear, there is no Andrew Luck in this draft. The Jets screwed up, they flinched, they panicked. They paid too much. The Colts won that trade.....and sadly could have gotten more if they themselves were not so quick and played it out during the draft. Patience, everyone. Beane will do us right. Plus, I am confident Mason Rudolph will become a Bill via the draft. To me, this is a non-issue. It will be Rudolph. Clearly, Jackson is a possibility I just think he will go higher than expected. -
Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round
IndyMark replied to Hurricane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks! I appreciate the reply. -
I find it amusing there will be some here that actually cannot wrap their head around the fact the Colts had no intention of getting out of the top ten (unless someone offered a Ditka, then all bets are off). In fact, the Jets may have been the ONLY trading partners the COLTS considered. Beane. did. not. fail. The Colts had a ceiling. The Jets got fleeced. This is not hard folks. You cannot trade if you do not have a partner.

Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round
IndyMark replied to Hurricane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Genuine question. Help me with the bold part. Save face from what? Overpaying and unloading our future (in draft picks) for a high risk QB? There is absolutely no QB in this draft worth both our firsts, seconds, thirds, and "other picks", as some people here are speculating. I think people fail to recall the Ditka trade and the Minn/Dallas trade (with Herschel Walker) and how that worked out for the teams who gave up a whole lot premier picks. I get the fact we have not aggressively pursued QB's in past drafts but I cannot recall the last time we accumulated 6 of the top 100 picks. When Beane was doing so, it never occurred to me he was positioning for a big trade up, I though to myself finally a GM who understands drafting in bulk and getting top tier talent across the board. I could kind of see people's point if QB was the only position we need, but from our HC himself, he openly admits we need a lot of talent across a lot of positions, not a single player or single position. Beane did not lose face by the Jets / Colts deal......none whatsoever. The Colts had a draft position ceiling, and realize their targeted player will likely be there at 6 as he would have been at 3. The Jets GM will need to save face. He. got. fleeced. -
Acquiring the 12th pick was genius, keeping it is just as smart. Unloading the first half of our premier picks and "other picks" for one of the QBs in this draft seems a bit goofy and Ditka-ish. It is curious to me why so many here feel we should overpay for a QB, in a class of QB's that many say is overrated. Yet, this is the beauty of the NFL and message boards like this. We are not the one's making the decisions, thankfully.
