No cower here friend. My argument is still pretty strong as is your based on the equivocal supporting threads. No need to get your panties in a wad and sound tough behind a keyboard. Seriously relax.
-
Yeah, because I do not know anyone who makes that kind of money. Apparently, you do and that is impressive I "threw" 1 mill out there as an assumption that MM got paid that or CLOSE to it. But I speculate. Yes, I ignored the fact that if you get paid 1 million / yr you are in demand - the example of the thread (MM) proves your point . Yep, he was certainly scooped right up as a HC wasn't he? I appreciate your attempt at being savvy about this, I really do....but it just didn't fly.
-
Honestly, your point is muddy. First, I have (at most) watched 12 minutes cumulatively of the shows you cite. Your point? Second, let me be more clear.....if RW wanted to pay me close to 1 million dollars a year to coach his team in the NFL and I accepted and he called my office after every decision I made (especially if it were a particularly stupid decision) I would absolutely placate him. Why? Respect. He pays the bills (no pun) and it is HIS company. How you try to spin that as a "money-whore" position is slighly bizarre and actually is a big stretch in reasoning. Normally you make sense, this thread...not so much.
-
So, if you were being paid 1 million dollars a year, you would still hold that belief? I did not think so. Bottom line, regardless if RW 'meddles' or not....it is HIS team. This ain't a public sector job, this is called private industry. Let me announce if RW wants to pay me 1 million dollars a year to work for him he can call my !@#$in office every and I mean EVERY MINUTE of the day to ask me about a decision I just made. I have no problem whatsoever with that.

Uh, let me get this straight, you are worried with Jerry Grey LEAVING. Most of us have been praying he would leave. Did you not catch the defenses' fall into patheticism this past year You are a funny funny poster.
-
So, having Biscuit on the sidelines in street clothes constitutes a "slight" adjustment? That was apretty big deal at that time, as I noted earlier in this thread. Surprising anyone overlooked that.

What kind of defensive formation would you like to
IndyMark replied to D' men's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Formation wanting to be seen? How about any friggin formation that can stop a 3rd down conversion. 6-1,1-6, 5-2, 2-5, 0-7, 7-0, who cares let's just field a defense that can stop even the most limp offense - period. That said, to an earlier poster who has inserted Raheem Brock in the DL. For our purposes I would target Larry Triplett over Brock. But that is just me - Triplett brings a complement to Sam Adams whereas, while maybe a slight upgrade against the pass, Brock would not bring as much as an upgrade - though that is purely speculation. -
I was captivated watching the highlights of that game as well - literally I can remember the where, when, and who of that game like almost none other. As I watched, I hold a few things pretty close, first of which are the injuries. 1. The Bills played that game without Kelly, Biscuit, and T.Thomas (for the most part). 2. Reed played lights out. 3. Phil Hansen was a star that game and never quit in his pursuit toward the ball. 4. Don Beebe flat out burned corners. 5. Finally, in no particular order: -Jerry Grey looked absolutely lost -the lb Seale for the Oilers was absolutely the widest body on the field - Kenneth Davis looked like a starter -Marv Levy has seemingly not aged. A classic that, for me always brings out the best emotions of being a long-time, ardent, and true blue WNY Bills fan.

Up until last night, I had a life size picture of a pure, dominant and massive lineman, that some of the posters here write about (D'Brickshaw ....) as I had never seen this individual play. Wow, I was very surprised to see him during reps in the one on one OL vs DL practice session via the NFL network. First, unless I was somehow distorted in my perception, he has twigs for legs and both of them were braced at the knee. Second, a bull rush from some DL (obviously) made him airborne about 2 yards into the backfield. He looked less than impressive and looked more like a late second round 'project'. Again, I only saw him for a handful of plays, but it was against similarly touted adversaries and he certainly looked out of place. The only other OL to look worse was one with a last name of 'Trueblood". I say, stay away from either of those two in the first three rounds. They have 'project' and 'bust' written all over them. Again, I know these are fighting words to some, but after all the hype here on this board, it was quite interesting to see such a disparity between the experts here and my own very eyes.

pssst....you said you were done with me. Why the response? You keep this up and I will have to offer up my four statement summary of you. By the way, are you saying local economies and politics are NOT influenced by the 'loser' mentality that you so eloquently display? I would not be so sure of that hypothesis. Just to give you a heads up, WNY generally and the local community you exist in specifically, may not automatically be completely indicative of the rest of the United States. What do you think makes for better business conditions elsewhere? Sure taxes, but also the local work force and the skill sets they do or do not possess. Inherent in that is the 'climate' (not weather) of the community; what the dominant demographic would or would not support (this is why some communities can sustain zoo's, parks, and multiple art venues and others can barely hold on to a movie theatre). Moreover, I have not even touched on what a local community values (ie Schools) and no, not all communities value things equally. Ok, you can move this now. It is off point......

That is too bad, seriously. I hope I do not find myself where you are 'at' regarding the Bills. I have always loved being a fan and always will. That said I do not take personally, however, the moves that the owner makes. While I do not think that makes me less of a fan, it does allow me to keep things in perspective. Further, while I do not always agree with every move everyone affiliated with the Bills makes, I am optimistic and trusting that they may know a bit more than me as to why they made the decision. That does not make me a "kool aid" follower or a "rose colored glass" fan. It makes me a fan, plain and simple. I have watched the same team you have over the last thirty years and do not feel 'blase' over the near or distant future. Apparently our context of what following an NFL team is all about is slightly different. Really, from now until the draft, we have coordinator positions to feel, FA to sign and players to draft. This is, for me, a fun time to be a fan. Hell, after the superbowl is played we will be undefeated and tied with all other 31 teams entering the '06 season. If that does not pique interest, nothing will, and you should follow the team that meets your criteria.

Actually I am from WNY and at one point was proud of our football fandom. However, in the 17 years since I have left it is clear there has been a change of spirit. You are NOT what I recall as a passionate and smart football fan. Moreover, blue collar? You have no clue what that means. If it means being dramatic and pessimistic, well, then you are ALL BLUE COLLAR. TO me blue collar, means proud, diligent, and somewhat trusting. You offer an antithetical that is undefinable. As evidence by your post and many others, it is clear a "new generation" of Bills fans have emerged and it is nothing to be proud of. And you are "done with me"??? Your are so articulate and well read. I have a funny feeling I could pinpoint you with about 4 statements, but that type of honesty would crush your spirit. Your attitude is why a lot of people leave WNY and why more do not move into WNY. Well done. You make that area proud.

Where do I start? First, give this a rest. There are many professional sports cities around the globe that exceed Buffalo in it's fandom. This is the most egocentric and least substantiated claim I have EVER heard. While it may make you feel mighty - you are off base. Evidence is found in the "chicken little" tenor of the board the last 18 hours - like little toddlers...whine, whine, whine. Bills fans are nothing special. Moreover, you are giving up on the season via your apology, no? Opening day is, what, 8 MONTHS away and this is the best you can do? Wring your hands in self pity because Buffalo deserved more/better? The 'man' keep WNY down again, huh? Tiresome.....all this gloom.

If one more person tells me to STFU
IndyMark replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, I will play...STFU -
Yes, but we just get pounced on and are drown out by the brilliant antagonists on the board. The one's who are wannabee GM's who are clairvoyant and pessimistic beyond words. This board is quite funny - remember the phrase "be careful what you wish for as it actually may come true". Truer words were never spoken, about a month ago these belly-acher posters wanted an "explosion" at OBD. "TD must go; MM must go; we need a regime change!!!!" They yelled....and guess what? They got it and now listen to them. Screaming fatalistic thoughts and caustic venom because the change was NOT ON THEIR TERMS. Ok, they got change and they are still not happy. This all goes back to my point months if not years ago that Bills fans (on the whole as evidenced by this board) are lightweights, easily spooked, nervous, pessimistic generally weak, yet, paradoxically, full of machisimo and bravado behind the comfort of a keyboard. WNY at it's best.

So maybe Marv and Sherman were not on the same page and, according to you, Sherman should not (and was) be hired.....and that is the correct call, no?
-
See post #8 - scary huh

Dom Capers, Butch Davis, Joe Vitt, Dave Wannstedt, Norv Turner, Mike Reilly, Marty Mornwheig (sp?), Mike Tice, Any HC of the Arizona Cardinals for the last decade or two,...... Dick Jauron looks pretty good in that company.

Here come the "chicken little" Bills fans....
IndyMark replied to IndyMark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea, I never entertained the idea Marv could be way off base...thanks for shining that light I am glad to hear you do not think the sky if falling, too bad your brethren (or at least the 'vocal' ones) on this board do not share that view. But I guess them being the NFL experts and all they are equipped to not simply challenge a HOF NFL Coach, but to belittle and already summarize what will happen. Yep, season is over - turn in the tickets, stop subscribing to NFL ticket, burn Bills apparel, write the owner...yes that is the Bills fan way! Whatever we do, do not become one bit optimistic and look at the brightside. Nope, we are Missouri Bills fans who require the OWNER of the team to "SHOW ME/THEM". Whew, the negativity of Bills Fans is exhausting, no? -
Its over, why bother watching this team?
IndyMark replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well said. Hard to refute reality. -
Of course I am happy. How can someone not be happy? Heck, if you got the time, resources, and access to post and read this board, you MUST be doing ok in life. I have been to the other side and this side is better. Trust me. It is all good. And why don't we let RW, or ML, or DJ utter one syllable before we go ballistic and spew doom. As the saying goes, you can take the boy out of WNY but you cannot take the WNY out of the boy. The Buffalo Complex is shining brightly today!

Here come the "chicken little" Bills fans....
IndyMark replied to IndyMark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see the gravity of the situation; have you noticed the number of playoff berths the last 6 years? Again, it cannot get worse than Greggo and MM. Period. Just because "fans" wanted Sherman does not mean he would have been a good fit. -
Here come the "chicken little" Bills fans....
IndyMark replied to IndyMark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But what if Sherman backed Marv in a corner and said I also want 'x' and 'y' and Marv seeing how that turned out with TD and Greggo and MM thought, correctly so, slow down....we want you as HC and that is it. This is not even to say that Shermans track record, while maybe laudible as HC, was fairly poor as 'GM' or whatever title he had. I think Marv was prudent in this process and brought in a HC, period. One who, while will have control of some things, will be closely monitored and maybe Jauron welcomes that. Again, I go back to the TIMELINE. RW and ML do not have the luxury of the Mike Holmgren plan (7 years for a superbowl berth). They cannot afford to 'trust' someone with their own plan. They have a plan and will find people who share it. Again, how much worse can we be? -
Here come the "chicken little" Bills fans....
IndyMark replied to IndyMark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think about that for one moment........you can seriously say an OFFSEASON move is the lowest point? You mean to say Kay Stephanson and Hank Bullough and Greggo Williams had you feeling better? Really, that is a mighty bizarre perspective. -
While it is a 'fans' right to bemoan, whine, cry, give up, become fatally depressed by this apparent and alleged hire of Dick Jauron, as I read some of the posts here a few things become evident.... (a) if this is the lowest point you have seen this franchise, you must not be older than 24. If you are, you have not been a fan long or have a really really selective memory. (b) the lack of trust you have in Marv Levy is somewhat amusing and equally amazing. Do you think he would hire a complete moron? Were you in the interview? As I stated before, maybe Sherman wanted too much MONEY, POWER, and TIME to build a 'winner'. Whereas Jauron appeared more tempered and realistic. Given Shermans track record that could have hurt him. © Have we even seen a press conference yet to hear the 'story'? No so how can anyone be 'convinced' this or that happened? I guess there will be an influx in season tickets this year as some of you have stated yu cannot bear to watch this anymore. To that I say.......WOO HOO...maybe it is about time I go in with my three brothers and invest!
