  1. Bills-Steelers was NOT one of the highest rated games of the year, or even one of that week (Rams vs you guessed it, the Dallas Cowboys earlier that day had almost 5 million more viewers). Every single Dallas SNF game had higher ratings. I'm love that the Bills are getting respect and viewers, but they aren't a top draw quite yet. Hopefully they will be!
  2. As bad as our QB situation has been at times, we've never had to debate if Jay Cutler or Rex Grossman was our best from the past 30 years.
  3. If I may quibble, I believe he said they were starting to get requests for them where they never did in the past. Let's be honest the big draws on the games you mentioned were the Cowboys and Patriots.
  4. I'd say Bass is one they'd need to see a ton of practice from before handing him the job. He's from the south and one of the draft knocks on his was kicking in bad weather.
  5. Probably, but most of it is a bi-product of the Bills actually being relevant nationally now, as well as him being a high draft pick. Can't imagine ESPN segments on EJ Manuel garnered good ratings or PFT articles on Trent Edwards generated any views. Post Flutie/Johnson, our next biggest "star" at QB would undoubtedly be Nathan Peterman because his historically bad performances captured the imagination of even casual NFL fans. Him as a QB was like the sports version of Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist in that James Bond movie.
  6. Could they possibly not take a QB and hope for Trevor Lawrence next year? Is the 2021 QB class looking good apart from him to risk it?
  7. I don't think St. Doug would chose making a logical trade to help his team over spite from the Jets not giving him the HC job in 2016.
  8. Ugh, can't Dr. Fauchi sign Ryan Fitzpatrick as COVID's backup so it goes away?
  9. Good for him. He's proved a lot of doubters (ok, me included to be honest) wrong.
  10. Stern is the best interviewer, bar none. I wish Stern did more interviews with some of the NFL's more interesting personalities like Richard Sherman, Jerry Jones, etc.
  11. Dan Orlovsky is a great analyst, but I have no idea if that would translate to live color commentary, but he'd be my choice. I initially laughed when I saw the comment upstream about bringing back McDonough, but maybe it would work with a different analyst. He and Gruden had no chemistry so that could have thrown his rhythms off.
  12. They did the Raiders last year and somehow made a team coached by Gruden going through the Antonio Brown drama one of the worst seasons.
  13. He seems like a pretty self aware guy, I think he would IF he decides to keeps playing.
  14. Thanks for the link OP, interesting interview. It would have been nice if Sal asked about contingency plans if they have to abbreviate the season in some way.
  15. Breaking or going against the spirit of the rules? Yes, very much his MO.
  16. Great post OP. The Brady factor - and to a lesser extent the rest of the QB carousel - is for sure slowing down the likely scheduling scenarios. If Brady does leave the Patriots I can see NE/LAR being the week 1 SNF game over the more likely LAR/SF. There will be a ton of curiosity on what the Pats look like post-Brady, just like Roseanne (or whatever they renamed it) had huge ratings on the season premier after they killed her off.
  17. Won't lie, I want Brady back on the Pats just so the Bills have a chance to beat them with him in Foxborough. No I don't count game 16 in 2014.
  18. Smart. Build up a fan base in Scandinavia so the Pegulas can threaten to move the team to Stockholm if NY State doesn't pony up for a new stadium.
  19. Strongly disagree here. McD is meticulously measured when he talks to the press. He and Beane are interested in Josh Norman at X amount for X years - within normal negotiating reason.
  20. Interesting, this would not have saved us from the drought: https://in-thinair.com/7th-seeds-in-nfl-history/
  21. The secret world of Faye Resnick strikes again!
  22. I'm not disagreeing with you but 18 games is the league's end game. In the past they always added 2 games, keeping it an even number. I'd be happy to keep it at 16, but if they do expand I'd rather they go right to 18 (with 2 bye weeks) rather than doing it in steps.
  23. I like this. Games will mean more in December, and we still don't cross the NBA/NHL threshold of half the teams or more making it to the post season. As for the 17th regular season game, I hope the league holds off a bit then goes right to 18. The scheduling symmetry is close to perfect as it is.
