  1. Meanwhile, the Patriots are overpaying solid (but not elite) players and getting desperate. Life is good.
  2. Excited about this, Trubisky gets a fresh start and should be a more talented/higher upside back up QB. Gives us a better chance to win if Allen is out. That said, good luck to Matt Barkley and his family, I know McBeane credited them a lot for their influence on the team. Thanks for that beatdown of the Jets a couple seasons ago!
  3. Not sold on Wade yet (need to watch more of his tape), but you've crushed this list. Would love any of those dudes in the third!
  4. Yeah Roseman is playing hardball. Like someone else said, I would predict the Chargers win in a bidding war given that they need to replace Hunter Henry who was pivotal to Herbert's success last season. My final offer would be our 5th round pick. If Philly turns that down, then go get Dan Arnold or draft someone like Brevin Jordan.
  5. Yeah we need to add a speed element to our backfield whether it's an FA on low money like Lindsay or Matt Breida or through the draft (Javian Hawkins or Kenneth Gainwell maybe?). Speaking of giving up on third round picks, how about the Patriots drafting two TEs in the third round just last year and then giving the two highest guaranteed money deals to Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry after one season? They upgraded the position, but what a incredible misuse of resources. This board would be on fire if we did something like that.
  6. Hoping he could be there for us in the late third. His stock has been rising a lot ever since the Senior Bowl. @GunnerBill what do you think?
  7. Quinn Meinerz anyone?
  8. My part-time job while I was at UB was in the mail room at the dorms and my internship was with the UB Athletics Dept running all the marketing/promotions on game days. In both cases, I would run into some of the football players sometimes. Khalil Mack, Naaman Roosevelt, and the center that got drafted by the Colts are the three that stood out as guys who were going to make it to the NFL but were very friendly and down to earth. Seemed like great people as well as talented athletes. Those Turner Gill years were pretty great, that was the start of the football program finally turning it around in Division I.
  9. Ah that's not the case with me, I was disappointed when we cut Brown. I was hoping we could either restructure or have him pay a small pay cut to lower his cap hit this year and keep him on the team. Great vertical threat and mentor for Josh and the younger guys. The Bills went in a different direction though and no guarantees, but I think there's a *chance* that Sanders could be more available and produce better in our offense than Smoke. I really like his route running and competitiveness.
  10. 100%, Sanders brings excellent route running and toughness. He gives us another guy who can get separation and beat press coverage which is huge given the schemes Miami and New England run.
  11. Yeah of course. My point is that I'm glad that we've signed a proven vet who can replace Brown (hopefully an upgrade over him and healthier) so that Davis can continue to develop at his own pace. If we add another WR in Rounds 2-5 who can provide some speed and return ability, I'd love our WR group.
  12. Yeah I get what you're saying. I wasn't trying to slight Davis, he was incredible value for a 4th round pick and made some huge plays for us. I just think there is a big difference between being WR4/beating the opposing defense's CB4 likely in single coverage 100% of the time and being WR2 matched up against their CB2 and drawing a lot more attention. He's a promising second year player who has some room to grow, I just thought it would be risky to depend on him as our WR2 given how important our passing attack is.
  13. Good player. Want to see the terms but glad we've re-invested in the WR corps. Gabriel Davis was a very promising rookie, but not ready to be a genuine WR2 in my eyes just yet.
  14. So true haha. I just posted this in a different thread talking about Dupree... "Dupree is an upgrade for them at edge rusher, but he's a solid, try hard player rather than an elite one. Autry was a sneaky good move by them as well. But they've lost Jonnu Smith and Corey Davis already. Adam Humphries, Kalif Raymond, Malcolm Butler, Jadeveon Clowney, DaQuan Jones, Desmond King, and Jayon Brown are all UFAs hitting the market and they've released Dennis Kelly, Adoree Jackson, and Kenny Vaccaro. They have limited cap space and have proven to be pretty brutal at drafting in recent years. Their defense was awful last year and is probably less talented as it stands given the additions/subtractions and now their offense is literally either Derrick Henry or AJ Brown. They need to make some serious moves and hit on their top picks to even make the playoffs in 2021 IMO."
  15. There were some small rumblings about a possible retirement according to some of the Locked On Bills/Cover 1 guys. It would have cost us an extra $4-5 million if he had retired so this is great news. His return should make everyone in our front seven better. Huge news for Ed Oliver and Tremaine Edmunds in particular.
  16. Man we can dream...would love this! Haven't hear any rumors connecting teams to Samuel yet, hopefully a good sign. The Bills FO doesn't leak!
  17. Agree on the Chiefs, but don't be worried about the Titans. Dupree is an upgrade for them at edge rusher, but he's a solid, try hard player rather than an elite one. Autry was a sneaky good move by them as well. But they've lost Jonnu Smith and Corey Davis already. Adam Humphries, Kalif Raymond, Malcolm Butler, Jadeveon Clowney, DaQuan Jones, Desmond King, and Jayon Brown are all UFAs hitting the market and they've released Dennis Kelly, Adoree Jackson, and Kenny Vaccaro already. They have limited cap space and have proven to be pretty brutal at drafting in recent years. They need to make some serious moves and hit on their top picks to make the playoffs in 2021 IMO.
  18. Peterson would be a big upgrade over what we have had at CB2 for several seasons so from that standpoint, I like it as I want the Bills to take CB2 seriously for once. On the other hand, we need more athleticism in our secondary and the ability to switch between man and zone coverage. As good as our secondary is, White, Poyer, and Hyde don't have elite athletic traits (relatively speaking). As a good example, I really like the group of players Tampa has put together with their secondary and how athletic/long/complementary their CBs are (Carlton Davis as a 6'1" physical press corner, Jamel Dean as their 6'1" 4.30 speed guy, and Sean Murphy-Bunting as a 6'0" ballhawk with 4.42 speed, all of them have at least 31" arms as well). The Bucs pass rush got all the credit, but that trio was able to really stick with Kansas City's skill players on the back end. I'd be targeting William Jackson III (27 years old, 6'0", 31" arms, and ran a 4.37 40 yd dash when he was drafted) in FA or an Eric Stokes/Greg Newsome type in the draft.
  19. Agreed on Samuel. I think he's going to get crazy money from someone, but Curtis Samuel would be an outstanding weapon and a perfect fit on the Bills. He would be an upgrade/replacement for John Brown and Isiah McKenzie and provides some rushing ability as well (41 carries in 2020). I know our cap space is somewhat tight, but I'm sure we could find a way to make it work. Still some money that could be freed up by restructures and a possible Lee Smith retirement.
  20. It certainly feels that way. I do think the top three teams with cap space were Jacksonville, NE, and the Jets so that explains some of it. But still I wish some of these players would go to the NFC where we wouldn't have to face them as much. The AFC is pretty stacked/deep whereas the NFC is very top heavy IMO and it's looking like that's going to continue.
  21. Agreed, seems like Belichick knows he's going to retire in 2 years and is going on this outlandish spending spree to try to make a run. They have gotten better no question about it and signed some talent, but the value and money they've spent (and guaranteed) is questionable. Also, none of this matters if they don't see a significant improvement in the level of play from their QB whether that's Newton or a draft pick like Mac Jones.
  22. Excellent player and definitely a big step towards KC improving their O-line and protecting Mahomes. BUT the money is insane. A big overpay even for a normal free agency year and at a devalued position where you can often find young, cheap starting talent in Rounds 2-4. I wish Thuney hadn't gone to the Chiefs because he makes them better, but if I was a KC fan, I'd feel conflicted about this signing.
  23. I will never forgive Houston for giving Miami the #3 pick this season. An incredible asset that the Dolphins don't truly deserve. Hopefully they go and draft this year's Dion Jordan again, but IDK there's a lot of amazing talent at the top of the class this year.
  24. This is where I'm at too...I don't think an edge rusher that's actually worth pick #30 will be available. But the good news is I think there's a lot of depth and value in Rounds 2-3. I like the guys you listed plus Quincy Roche (Miami), Victor Dimukeje (Duke), and Jordan Smith (UAB) are three other prospects I love.
  25. Agreed, still think they will draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd rounds. On one hand, it's a smart move to keep a veteran QB around so you don't wind up starting Nathan Peterman on Day 1 (still can't believe we did that lol!). On the other hand, it seems like an overpay for this version of Newton and is he really the veteran you want to mentor your draft pick? I don't think he's a bad guy, but just a goofy dude who looked like a shell of himself last year.
