  1. No one is saying that he's omniscient. Good GMs take smart calculated risks, especially when your team has a glaring need. At the time he was signed he was suppose to be a number 1 receiver, the fact that he wasn't hasn't set the team back at all. Next you'll be criticizing him for every third round pick that didn't pan out?
  2. Best player available is like anything else that's good for you but may be a little unpleasant to swallow at the time. Like eating your vegetables or taking time to get a little more exercise. BPA is obviously the best strategy, it's just not emotionally easy to do it. I always pick the most optimal strategy when someone else has to do the hard part and I get to stay at home and complain about their blunders.
  3. Lets not forget long snapper. Letting Garrison Sanborn leave town for Tampa was one of the great mistakes of this regime. There's just no excuse for letting a proven 7 year starter get away is just inexcusable. I mean when other players ***** up it's almost never worse than a change of possession but when you're long snapper ***** up that's 7 points for the other team.
  4. I say we draft a punter in the first every year until we finally land our franchise punter.
  5. The past tense there is for their prior status as free agents. No need to go gramando on me.
  6. Kyle and Eric aren't on our team. Your not going to convince me that Edmunds or Milano are established difference makers, and I'm having trouble believing that you think this is actually the situation at this time. While I agree Tre is one of our best players, at best he takes away a favored target on account of the position he plays. If I had to name the three most impactful players that are still on our team over the past two or three years I'd probably go with Shady, Hughes, and Lorenzo all of whom were traded for or signed as free agents. Even the next set of players that come to mind are Poyer and Hyde, both signed as free agents. To me it seems like management is reluctant to invest a lot in what any player may do in the future, especially when they haven't worked with that player before. The only exception I see to this is maybe all the trading that went into getting Allen. I don't think that has anything to do with them looking for "star" players in any particular way. They just don't want to be screwed if it doesn't work out. I'm sure they were hoping Benjamin would be a difference maker, but the fact that he wasn't hasn't set them back.
  7. Team culture is the difference maker. All of our good, established, players were free agents or we traded for them.
  8. Totally agree. Watched all the Clemson games this year and Wilkins is also having the most fun on the field, its great to watch. You can tell that he's deeply invested in the success of his teammates.
  9. It's not really fair to call Irv a poster. He's a troll who's always trolling and never contributes in a positive way.
  10. If you're talking about the sun glasses. Anyways, Irv quit trolling!
  11. It's not whether you win or lose, it's how stupid you look doing it.
  12. Sort of seems like overkill with Poyer having two years left, so unless its a use it or lose it type situation with the cap I'd rather wait.
  13. Was definitely a play lots of fans complained about/thought should have been called, especially when they resulted in injury.
  14. I'm sure it's not at all related to the hard shell we wrap around the players.
  15. I said no because I don't think he's going to be commanding big bucks after this year, if we like him lets just sign him long term and get it done long term while its relatively pain free.
  16. Can't we just restructure existing contracts with larger base salaries for this year. The cap is very flexible, if we want to pay upfront or just not do big bonuses but a larger base for the less splashy free agents we do sign I'm sure we'll have no problem getting to our 89%. Not saying they won't just spend it . . .
  17. Not sure exactly what were suppose to look at, cfl receivers that have made a 53, a 90, or just played in the cfl. In any case its got to be very low. I bet for players that haven't made a 53 0% is a lot closer than 1%.
  18. I heard he was going to make the jets pay for it.
  19. Yeah, totally different situation, at least when you pay for sex there's consent . . . oh wait . . .
  20. My guess is the system is somewhat subjective/arbitrary since like players are a scratch. They are probably just looking to avoid complaints/gaming of the system. If there is a set published formula sophisticated operations would then be looking to sign players in a such a way as to not give other teams higher picks etc. It seems equally plausible that there's a competition committee that determines "like" players and they don't want them over scrutinized/criticized.
  21. We are about to double our roster size, definitely seems like a good signing under that light. And also something that you can't really read into.
